DEATH HAS BEEN DEFEATED – PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death (1 Corinthians 15:25-26). Until Jesus came, Satan had the keys of death. The Bible lets us now that men and women were, all their lifetime, subject to bondage because of the fear of death. But Jesus put an end to that through His victory over death and the grave and liberated all men from the fear of death: “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Hebrews 2:14-15). As a result of Adam’s disobedience, the Bible says death came upon all men (Romans 5:12). When Adam committed high treason back in the Garden of Eden by obeying Satan, death began to work in every man. The devil gained liberty to afflict men with sickness, disease and destruction. But blessed be God! When Jesus died on the cross, He went right into hell, the devil’s territory and took back from him the keys of death and hell: “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and death” (Revelation 1:18). He overcame death when He triumphantly rose from the dead and ushered man into a new life. Today, anyone who is born again need not fear death, for death has been defeated by Jesus; it is the last enemy that will be destroyed, as read in our opening verse, but is already defeated. Today, Satan can no longer take anybody’s life at will because he doesn’t have the power of death anymore. He can only make empty threats, and try to deceive men or make them destroy themselves. Some people get themselves into trouble for believing all the wrong and negative things they heard about others. Never allow anyone bring some negative information into your life to defile the purity of your spirit. When you see others the way God sees them, you’ll never be negatively influenced by any purported negative information about them. As we anticipate the Master’s soon return, you may never as one individual, be able to go into the entire world and preach to every soul on the face of the earth. However, there’re ways you can still be effective in global evangelism. One of such ways is through intercession; praying for the salvation of lost souls. Every Christian that’s truly been touched by the Holy Spirit burns with passion for intercession. Therefore, be diligent in praying for lost souls and other believers in different parts of the world who may be experiencing challenges and difficulties. The Bible tells us to pray for those who are in trouble. Many Christians around the world are being persecuted for their faith. Some are being martyred for believing in Jesus Christ. Some are suffering terribly in hospitals, writhing in severe pains, due to sickness and disease. They may not even have enough faith to think about being healed, but your intercessory prayer can help them. Some Christians are in prison for offenses they didn’t commit. Then you have the orphans, the poor, and those who have been neglected by society. Don’t just wish that things will get better for them; rather, from time to time, intercede fervidly on their behalf! OPEN YOUR SPIRIT TO THE WORD ~ PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God (Luke 4:4) God gave us His Word to live by. His Word isn’t just an account of history and prophecy, but the revelation of His will, nature, character and His eternal purpose for man. His Word is full of power and the inherent ability to produce the message it carries. The knowledge and understanding of God’s Word, therefore, is imperative in your relationship with Him. When you study and understand the Word of God, you’ll not entertain any doubt as to its efficacy. You won’t wonder if it’s His will for you to be prosperous, healthy and successful in life; you’ll simply expect the Word to produce results in your life. When you meditate on the Word, it gets into your system to correct every anomaly in your life and in your physical body; be it a growth or a deformed heart. God said, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11). Learn to receive and respond to God’s Word from your spirit and demonstrate an unequivocal faith in its potency and ability to transform you. Your response to the Word is the vocalization of your faith. It makes no difference what the issue is: whether it’s sickness, bankruptcy, economic recession, marital problems etc.; God’s Word is the solution. Once you locate the Word in that area, you have the answer. Key-in to a life of beauty, glory, rest, success, health, and prosperity by living in the Word. If you work for a thriving corporation, it may increase your wages regularly, give you lots of fringe benefits with certain allowances – a large house, a chauffeur-driven car, summer holidays abroad, scholarships for your children, free medical care, etc. But all these things don’t compare with what the Lord gives. He is the “greatest blesser.” He daily loads us with blessings – benefits “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation, Selah” (Psalm 68:19). . Think about it: If a firm could give all such wonderful benefits to those in its employ, imagine then what God would give you for working for Him! God’s blessings upon your life, unlike what that multinational corporation you work for may give you, aren’t temporary; they are permanent and irrevocable” “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” (Romans 11:29). He doesn’t take back what He gives you. Your employers may give you all the nice things but they can one day decide to retire you. There is, however no retirement in God nor is there a pension scheme. Nobody is on pension in God’s Kingdom. The more you work for the Lord and with the Lord in His “business” of reaching the lost with the Gospel, the more He honours you for doing it. There’s no man or group on earth that can bless you the way God has already blessed you, and can bless you.
