(Observations from an “I’m-too-young-for-this” teacher) Chapter 1: Favorite types of friendships

I have two students (Jack and Jill) who have this platonic need for each other in order to have a good day. They are completely different people if the other one is absent. When Jill is gone, Jack will walk slowly into my classroom 2nd hour and I’ll instantly know it’s a day where he isn’t going to talk. If Jack is gone, Jill will look off into the distance for the entire hour and remain unreachable.

It is something that we have never talked about but the entire class is aware of it.

This morning, Jack walked in and sat down in his desk and just stared at me. I smiled the smile I always give them to let them know that I know which type of day it is.

Then suddenly, the door is thrown open and Jill saunters into the class with the biggest grin on her face. Jack threw up his arms and screamed, “Thank God!”

They’re my favorite type of friendship.

This week’s been ROUGH. . Every fire 🔥 has flared at once and I’m feeling spread so thin. If ever I needed run it was tonight. Didn’t happen but I’m home with my youngest tomorrow so you’d better believe I will burn some major calories and negative energy. There’s fire coming out my ears and I’m about to erupt. . So it begins...

I overlooked a date for an assignment, now I’ve got to  break my workflow in order to take care of it.  Only problem is I can’t find my glasses. I’ve looked almost everywhere and still can’t locate them. 15 minutes or so and nothing, zilch, nada. maybe under the bed  or couch? So I get down, reach on top of my head pull my glassses down and look under my bed. Bingo !!  I get up, wipe of my glasses and start to put them on and......CLANK..  After about 10 seconds of complete and utter amazement. I politely take off the pair I was wearing, and put on the ones I had looked for; only beacause I had looked for them.
