Lionel is like a dog with a fresh bone... and once his out on the bike course he's gonna rag-it to death.. this guy is all-in and full-on.. even his training he takes to the extreme.. but all he want is to be the best he can be. A former drug addict turned pro triathlete, taking one addiction and changing it in to another. Just brilliant. Proof that sport can change lives.... With many wins this year, and with one of the most memorable being the showdown at the Challenge Champs in Samorin, the toe to toe battle with Sebi Kienle was gripping. Kings & Queens of Kona 2017 Series - Alexandra Tondeur (BEL) . . .................................................. Alex has been participating in triathlon since 2007, winning the Gerardmer Olympic in 2008. It wasn't until 2013 that she embarked on the 70.3 and long distance and her first year on the Ironman circuit. In 2015 she had no less than 11 podiums in a mix of distances and taking 3rd at the European Championship Ironman 70.3 Wiesbaden of August that year. Seven more podiums and a 19th spot in Kona followed in 2016. The beginning of 2017 saw Alex join the new @itzutriteam, owned by triathlete and Belgian businessman @koenjanssen81 along with head coach and manager - two times Ironman World Champ - @lucvanlierde. The 32 yr old, two times IM Champion & European Champion from Germany, was one of last year top female performers, just missing out on the top 3 podium by one position.. Starting triathlon at 4 years of age, Anja followed in her father’s footsteps. By 2001 at the age of 21, she became German Youth Champion in Triathlon and Duathlon and she was a member of the Olympic squad for Germany, eventually ‘going pro’ in 2012. In the same year, she became the European champion on the IRONMAN 70.3 distance and vice-European champion on the IRONMAN distance in Frankfurt. Since then, she has won IM Switzerland (2013) and IM Wales (2015).
