Reading comprehension questions:
1. The original poster begins this post with "[a]nyway," and begins the main body of the post with "but." Might that imply that this is part of a larger sequence of posts? How might other posts in this sequence provide helpful context? (Hint: you may use the other posts in answering the following questions.)
2. The original poster writes that their claim is true of "all" stories. Using this wording, does the original poster exclude any stories from having meaning or saying things?
2b. Why might the original poster have chosen not to use more exclusive language about which stories have meaning?
3. The word "meaning" can be used in different ways. For these next questions, think of some different ways this word can be used.
3a. The original poster groups together the word "meanings" with the phrase "saying things." What does this imply about which form of the word "meaning" they are using here? 3b. Does the original poster say anything about whether that meaning has anything to do with the intent of the storyteller? (Bonus question: How might the meaning of a story be different than the purpose for which it was created?)
Anyway. Sorry to be an English major on main but yes all stories have meanings and say things
#common wrong answers to questions 2 & 3 include:#'all *good* stories have meaning'#and:#'the meaning of the story was to write it!'#fun fact: neither of the above statements are actually agreeing with this post!#if you disagree with that statement you can return a filled-out copy of these reading comprehension questions to my inbox or dms#in exchange for the right to explain your interpretation of this post to me#addition#self seblog#original post#reading comprehension questions

Incredible how dc pushes the "Jason died because he was reckless" narrative to try and absolve Bruce of blame because, victim-blaming aside, that's worse, right? You understand how that's worse?
No matter how you interpret it, in Jason's post-crisis run, Bruce is gonna be partially responsible for Jason's death, because he was the one to offer him Robin in the first place in exchange for a good foster home (Batman 1940 #408), and because he had fucked up with Jason to the point he felt the need to run to a whole other continent in search for family (Batman 1940, a death in the family). Like, that part of responsibility, that remains no matter how you spin it, because regardless of why specifically Jason went in the warehouse, that's why he was in Ethiopia with the Robin suit in the first place.
But this aside, in canon? Jason goes in the warehouse because Sheila betrays him and he does what any hero, and many children, would do in his place: he wants to help Sheila, he listens to her, he trusts his mother. The people directly responsible for Jason's death, in canon, are Joker, Sheila, and crowd of goons that helped Joker and Sheila take Jason down in the warehouse. It's clear as day who the villains are in there and it doesn't add any stain on Bruce's ledger.
But according to that victim-blaming narrative that Alfred and Bruce (and others later on) spin in-story, and that dc spins in meta? Jason died because he was reckless. So it's Jason's fault right? Yes and no. I need to write a more detailed meta about the two types of recklessness and how confusing the two accidentally led to Starling writing a compelling narrative with Jason, but basically the important question here is why was Jason reckless. And Starlin answers us, in text, in a death in the family: Jason has been behaving abnormally recklessly recently, because he's suffering. Bruce tells us, straight up, that he suspects Jason to be suicidal. This isn't the first time Starlin's Batman says Jason is suicidal: even in Batman (1940) #416, Batman explains Jason's "reckless" behaviour to Dick as a symptom of being mentally unwell, and very clearly implies Jason already struggles with suicidal thoughts (which I maintain is the reason why Dick changed his mind on Jason so quickly and gave him his number with a "you can reach out to me, don't let a lack of communication become your achille heel" talk at the end of #416.)
And Bruce's POV mind be often biased, but we see, ourselves, Jason jump in front of bullets in aditf and it's like... As much as I'm not convinced with Bruce's random explanation for Jason's struggles in aditf, I do agree that he is being suicidal (and considering the stories that come right before this one, I completely understand why he would be.) So that's why Jason is reckless in aditf. It's not why he died, but if we listen to that victim-blaming narrative that claims his recklessness is indeed what killed him, doesn't that make Bruce more guilty? Because that means Bruce knew Jason was suicidal (literally jumping in front of bullets with apparently no consideration for his life) and left a fifteen years old active suicide risk alone in a completely foreign environment after having messed up very severely with him during the whole issue, and then he told him "do not go into that warehouse alone, there's a very dangerous guy who wants to kill you." In terms of responsibility, Bruce is actually very damn lucky Jason, like some impulsive suicidal teenagers his age would have, didn't think "oh well, I'll try my luck against the guy who wants to kill me alone and that way either I win and get reassured in my heroism and right to be alive, or I die and that saves me the trouble of buying rope and a step ladder!" Bruce took the Robin costume from Jason to protect him from this exact type of situation but didn't seem to realize the danger he was putting Jason in at that moment. And it's not just me saying that! I don't have the exact reference (I think it was in Gotham Knights?...to verify) Barbara, after finding out about Jason's death, literally tells Bruce that this is his fault and that she warned him Jason had issues.
Of course, all of this is moot point, because it's not why Jason went in the warehouse in the first place, but I can't help but feel baffled at the audacity of DC, who are so deep into their psychophobia, classism, general victim-blaming bullshit and ingrained stereotypical conception of the "troubled teen" that they don't realize that the revisionist interpretation of Jason's death they are defending is literally worse for Bruce. And I have to say, it certainly doesn't paint people trash-talking Jason and blaming him for his death to prop Tim up as "better" and "different" in a very good light either (especially since, if i'm not wrong, there's an arc in which Tim struggles with suicidal thoughts himself... especially since Tim's trauma happened after he became Robin and is, for the most part, a direct consequence of his heroism. Doesn't exactly paint the adults in Jason and Tim's life in a favourable light...)
Anyway, stop blaming Jason's death on his recklessness to absolve Bruce: you're only making it worse.

Can you explain a sentence from your bio? "To create loving males, you must love males"? I don't understand that sentence, because like does that work for all oppressive groups? "To create loving white people, we must love white people" or "to create loving straight people, we must love straight people". That doesn't make much sense to me, especially since women do this all the time. Women always make excuses for men's behavior, give them the benefit of the doubt, are empathetic and sensitive to men and make tons of posts on the internet about male positivity and yet men still commit 80-90% of violent crimes (from what I remember). And I'm not trying to argue or anything, it's a genuine question. How is being kind to men going to bring about the collective liberation of women from the patriarchy?
So this quote needs to be understood in the context of both the book it comes from (The Will to Change: Men, Masculinity, and Love) and bell hooks' philosophy of love in general. Here's the full paragraph it comes from:
“Only a revolution of values in our nation will end male violence, and that revolution will necessarily be based on a love ethic. To create loving men, we must love males. Loving maleness is different from praising and rewarding males for living up to sexist-defined notions of male identity. Caring about men because of what they do for us is not the same as loving males for simply being. When we love maleness, we extend our love whether males are performing or not. Performance is different from simply being. In patriarchal culture males are not allowed simply to be who they are and to glory in their unique identity. Their value is always determined by what they do. In an antipatriarchal culture males do not have to prove their value and worth. They know from birth that simply being gives them value, the right to be cherished and loved.”
People often see this quote or another one and assume a lot about bell hooks' point here, but The Will to Change includes her own experiences of abuse by men and her experiences with misogyny, alongside her observations about how men in her life experienced patriarchal abuse. She is not ignorant of the harms done to women when she says this.
My personal interpretation of her words is this:
The patriarchal expectations relating to how women are expected to "love" men is very different than what bell hooks means to love. Her concept of love requires self-love and self-care, and not being a doormat or adopting a "I can singlehandedly fix that incel by being nice to him!" mindset.
And, equally, how we are taught to "love" men is not good for men either. The patriarchy promises love to men in exchange for appropriate performance of dominance. It says that there are "real men" and "fake men" and only real men are deserving of love. It says that men must be constantly fighting each other, women, and queers in order to be deserving of love and escape punishment. bell hooks' argument is that we as feminists need to see inherent worth in men as people, and reject those patriarchal notions of what makes men worthy as well as the doomerist radfem impulse to label all men as evil and sever all connection forever. Men are people, and women are people, and we are all people in society together, and we always will be, so we need to be able to work together to create loving communities. Whether men are your friends, lovers, relatives, neighbors, patients, students, etc. you do live in a society with them!!! And we (intersectional / revolutionary feminism) cannot win without them. Not just as quiet allies on the side but as meaningful co-conspirators, fellow feminists with just as much a stake in the fight as any woman.
You can read this short chapter of one of her books where she explores love ethic in politics specifically relating to race.

Anti-Marella Rant/Analysis (but mainly rant) Post Ahead! I have VERY strong opinions on her so if you love her, I would recommend not reading this. Unless you want to anyway ofc! Either way enjoy! :)
Alright so I have many problems with this girl- like it’s actually insane. A problem I did have with her was her pick me behavior but @the-way-astray already explained in this post how in the very first few books almost everyone had a very misogynistic/sexist mindset so I’m not as bothered by that anymore. But her short story does contain a bit of what can be interpreted as pick me behavior so I will be going over that later.
Everblaze/Neverseen
My main gripe with Marella was her “problem” with Sophie in Everblaze/Neverseen. I briefly went over it in this post but basically for further analysis Marella blamed Sophie for not involving her in her dangerous and life threatening situations. She wanted to join the team and be a part of what Sophie was experiencing. Now I won’t say she didn’t have a reason to be jealous. She was obviously hurt that Fitz, Keefe, Dex and Biana were all involved in what Sophie was going through. She considered herself as much of a friend as they are to Sophie. So her jealousy is understandable. But every one of those people were either already involved or reached out to Sophie to be involved. Not one of them expected Sophie to involve them.
Fitz was the one who found Sophie from the very beginning. He knew the most about her compared to everyone else at that time. Keefe actively pressured Sophie into involving him, especially in Exlie. And we end up learning that his mother is part of the Neverseen, making him even more integrated and important to the story. Dex was kidnapped by the Neverseen with Sophie in the first book. He shares her trauma and he was the one who was forced to create the ability-restricting circlet for Sophie, as well as being the one to take it off for her. Biana’s involvement is similar to Keefe’s. She reached out to Sophie herself. Her guilt for not being a good friend in the beginning may have played a role in her wanting to be by Sophie’s side but regardless of her alternative motives she didn’t expect Sophie to involve her without even knowing if she wanted to be involved in the first place.
Marella’s response to Sophie not involving her was to basically gaslight Sophie into believing that she isn’t a good friend and to befriend both Sophie and Dex’s bully, Stina. Mind you, Marella HATED Stina and used to encourage Sophie to “take her down” in the first book. Yet she was willing to befriend this person just to spite Sophie.
Now some might think that she has changed since Everblaze/Neverseen but she proved that in Stellarlune she has actually NOT changed and if anything she just moved the goal post.
Stellarlune
In Stellarlune pages 409 - 410 she basically taunts Sophie into guessing whether or not they’re still friends.
Quotes:
"You started picturing me switching sides and setting everything on fire didn't you?...Was it an epic struggle between the moonlark and her fiery former friend?" - Marella
"Former?" - Sophie
"Well...in that scenario," - Marella
"And in this one?" - Sophie
"I'm sitting with you, aren't I?" - Marella.
"True" "So...does that mean we're good?" - Sophie
"Depends." - Marella
"On what?" - Sophie
This whole exchange infuriates me. STOP beating around the bush and having Sophie guessing at your every word. Just spill it.
So when Sophie wants confirmation on whether or not Marella thinks of them as friends, Marella starts assuming that Sophie has alternative motives for "hanging out with her".
Quote:
"Well, for one thing, I'm curious- are you only hanging out with me right now because you want to know how it went when I talked to Fintan about his cache?" - Marella
*Deep breathe* You first got angry with Sophie that she didn’t involve you in her life threatening, “go-lucky play dates”, as you seem to believe that’s what they are, and when Sophie decides to bring YOU in, involve YOU, give YOU a role here, you then have an issue with providing vital intel that only you can obtain? You were so willing to be a part of all this to the point that you mentally stressed the hell out of Sophie for it but when the time comes for you to play your part, just like you wanted, you want to have a problem with that as well?? MAKE. UP. YOUR. GOD. DAMN. MIND. *Breaths out*
Sophie then points out that Marella is the one technically hanging out with her and that she was the one who brought up Fintan.
Quotes:
"Technically you're hanging out with me," "I was already sitting here when you sat down. And you're the one who brought up Fintan- not me. I didn't even know you had a chance to talk to him yet." - Sophie
"Fair enough. But you're dying to ask about it now, aren't you?" - Marella
Is this a game for her? She's just trying to villainize Sophie at every turn, at this point. No matter what Sophie does or doesn't do, at the end of the day she has to be in the wrong? Really Marella?
Sophie caught on that Marella is trying to test her so she basically says that she’ll wait until Marella wants to tell her about Fintan and also that a friend wouldn’t hold back vital info.
Quote:
"Not really- because a friend would never hold back something important. So you'll tell me when you're ready. Or you have nothing worth telling. Either way, there's no point asking you about it. Especially since you're clearly trying you test me right now, and I'm not going to fall for it." - Sophie
The fact that Sophie has to feel like her "friend" is testing her is unbelievably sad. Having to prove to your friend that you're not a bad person when you've literally given them NO reason to even believe that you are, while simultaneously trying not be killed by your enemies, sounds mentally draining.
Now I will say that Sophie's tone in that quote was very stern but at the same time she's responding to all of Marella's previous comments so it's completely appropriate. But in Marella’s mind, she believes that Sophie now has an attitude. Sophie is literally making a valid point and if anything Marella is the one with the attitude. She's actively trying to start problems with Sophie from nothing.
Quote:
"You really are much feistier now. I can't decide how I feel about it."
Newsflash Marella, we don't care how you feel about it. And frankly you don't deserve that sort of attention considering how you're acting.
Maruca comes in asking how Marella feels about what and Marella responds with: "Sophie's new attitude."
Stina, of course, comes in and says: "That's easy. I'm definitely not a fan."
Again NO ONE CARES about what either of you feel about people's personalities. A bully and a gaslighter don't deserve that kind of privilege. How about you look in the mirror first, change yourself and THEN you'll have a right to speak up about others.
(A little off topic, but Shannon completely fumbled with Stina in Stellarlune. She was actually enjoyable in Legacy- I mean like she was literally getting more character development than Marella was and then she got screwed over. Ugh Shannon.)
Anyway back to the rant, Sophie responds to Stina basically saying that if Stina isn't liking her "new attitude" and then she's obviously doing something right. (Honestly, slay)
On page 411, Marella and Stina begin to insult/make fun of Sophie. Mocking her recent company and how they've "influenced" her.
Quote:
"It's like she's been hanging around Ro too much and picked up a case of the Snarky Comback." - Marella
Marella began to ask where Ro was and Sophie responded vaguely not wanting to explain out loud because she wanted to telepathically update everyone instead. Yet Marella still continued to make fun of her anyway.
Quote:
"Clearly you've also picked up some avoiding skills from the Forkle."
Sophie and Marella have a small exchange about how they'll just keep their updates to themselves until the team arrives so they won't have to repeat themselves.
Marella and Stina proceed to whisper and giggle amongst themselves, saying who knows what about Sophie.
It was also implied that there was an obvious divide between everyone, on page 412. Sophie’s group and Marella’s group. Why is Marella actively causing riffs in the group when they should all be focusing on defeating their enemies instead??
Anyway, that's the end of her moments in Stellarlune (just the book). Now to the short story!
Marella's Short Story
Now in her short story Marella showcases a little bit of her pick me behavior. She basically found it “annoying” how easily Linh was able to control her abilities even though Linh worked so hard for it.
Quote:
"But the fact that Linh could stand in a sea of frozen water and do nothing except keep the falling snow from setting on her flushed pink cheeks was very...annoying" - Marella
Now this could be seen as jealousy, which is a fine flaw to have, especially in her case, considering her crazy, out-of-control pyrokinetic abilities, but at the same time it could be interpreted that she just genuinely doesn’t like people being better than her, especially girls. She has expressed many times her "annoyance" with girls specifically (Sophie and Linh being direct targets of this). She never really specifically mentions any of the boys being annoying. Whenever she's really talking about boys she's just basically fawning over them (a trait many pick mes posses) Now I'm not saying finding guys attractive will inherently make you a pick me, but fawning over boys while degrading girls does make you a pick me.
Now it is a little stretch, in all honesty. Her comment about Linh can be interpreted in many different ways. It's also just a single comment- and one that she didn't even say out loud so I'm not too bothered by it. The short story IS where I see the most Marelinh proof though, ironic as it is. I’m genuinely hoping that she and Linh become a thing. She did after all call Linh “peaceful” “pretty” and “perfect” all in one sentence. (Shannon, make it so that Linh is the one that changes Marella and I might actually end up liking her)
Now what I didn't like is her comments afterwards.
Quotes:
"Then again, everyone annoyed Marella a little"
"But it wasn't Marella's fault!"
"People tended to be annoying."
She sounds like she has a victim mentality here. She believes that it isn't her fault that she finds everyone annoying because everyone tends to be annoying...
Has she once considered that everyone around her isn't actually annoying and that she's just easily offended and sensitive? She's literally saying that one of her best friends, if not her best friend, is annoying because she has such good control over her ability. If THAT annoys her then yeah no wonder she finds everyone and everything annoying.
Now aside from everything I've said there are certain aspects that make me like Marella, believe it or not. The way she cares deeply for her mother. The way she wanted to manifest as an empath just to help her identify her mother's emotions. That is very sweet and considerate of her. I respect that, a lot. But the way she treats her mother won't erase the way she treats Sophie and others. She needs to seriously acknowledge her behavior and the way she makes people around her feel. She's been getting more page time in the most recent books so I hope Shannon gives her character some development in the newer ones.
So yep! This is the rant lol. Feel free to express your thoughts and/or opinions on this post. Whether you agree or not, I'd love to hear it! :)

Make assumptions and get the wrong idea. Please. That's what he said.
My brain listening to Who:
(on the beat of course)
Sorry for the brain porn but that's how my brain feels when I hear Jimin's vocals. The runs, the ad libs, the highs, lows, and in-betweens, the breathing, especially the breathing. Especially in the 4K version of the Tonight Show performance posted on BangtanTV.
For many years now I've been wanting to hear Jimin let 'er rip on a big song and FINALLY! FINALLY!
FINALLY!
I started to jot down my interpretations of Who but you know what? no one needs yet another analyzation of the song, the lyrics, the MV, the belt sharing, the ... but one thing I need to point out... Ryan's Vintage Clothes is definitely a nod to Ryan Gosling don't you think? (just kidding sorta)
A ton of people have given their dissertations on what they think it all means. All I know is Jimin has that MAGIC and he is FLEXING big time.
This is my favorite shot from the most recent promo image drop on Weverse. I have always dissented when Jimin would say his left side is his best side. No sir. It's your right side.

The entire Muse album is a complete mind-bender for me. He came up with the ideas and themes and what he couldn't do on his own, he explained to all the people helping him in order to create his vision...
PDogg said this in an interview: "I also believe the experience of collaborating with various producers and songwriters in LA and NY gave Jimin the opportunity to further explore his limitless potential."
Minseong Kim (Performance Director): "When we were working together, I saw Jimin putting a lot of thought into delivering the song's choreography as a visual art form. He uses his detailed expressions to convey various artistic elements in the performance beyond simply presenting stylish, energetic choreography. He is always devoted to emphasizing the artistic elements of the performance by forming a visceral connection to it. I believe that his commitment and passion has shaped Jimin's unique style and allows him to deliver one of the most exciting performances in pop music."
and:
"We had countless discussions about how to visually articulate the story and message of the song through the performance on a larger scale, in a manner that's true to the song's title Who. When the choreography was completed Jimin was utterly pleased with the performance having all the elements he had wished to incorporate."
You can read the entire VMAGAZINE article here.
Regarding the other songs on the album, in MiniMoniMusic Exchange, Jimin mentioned that Rebirth was his favorite track. I do love it too, Jimin. The heartbeat, the poignancy. Perfection.
And I have to compare Be Mine to Seven. In Jungkook's Seven, the explicit version was so very literal and so in your face it was funny, even the MV added to the unserious vibe of it all.
But in Jimin's, Be Mine, he has probably the most erotic lyric I've ever heard coming out of the mouth of a Tannie: "... a hot island, a party with just the two of us; I know what you want and baby I want the same; love ‘til the morning; we just keep fallin’... baby come, baby come; show me what, show me what love is, yeah yeah; melt me hot, hot, hot quickly"
I am streaming all the versions of all the songs and album. I absolutely love it.
Now that I got that out of my system...
It's been about a year (??!?!?) since Jungkook's Only Fans debut live stream. Time is flying.
We are anticipating gaining more context soon surrounding exactly what went down between them the prior two weeks to this live and what did Jimin mean when he said he "can handle it? (Are you sure you wanna know?)
There is a high possibility we might get some jikook carpool karaoke.
The main trailer drops Monday. Hold on to your ... whatever it is you hold on to when you get shook because I'm sure it'll be another earthquake on the timeline.

re: your alecto post
so true! i haven’t been actively thinking about any of that but you’re so right. i do want to point one thing out though, you say that the body has never been anything but gentle with harrow, and you’re not wrong per se but at the same time i’m fairly sure that the body as we see it in htn is harrow hallucinating. which absolutely does not mean that the body has no bearing on the larger character of alecto, she Absolutely does. but i don’t think it’s at all inconsistent that the alecto we see when the tomb opens acts very differently from the body as we see her in htn.
I agree that the Body in Harrow the Ninth is sometimes Harrow hallucinating, but that "sometimes" is important. It seems odd to me that she would be conveniently hanging around just in time to nip into Harrow's body and become Nona if she weren't also sometimes really there.
It would also be odd from a narrative standpoint to spend so much time on Harrow's conversations with the Body, if that relationship was only ever really with herself and her idea of the Body. I'm thinking specifically of those rare occasions when the Body has something to say.
The first example that comes to mind is this little interaction, when the Body has interpreted Harrow's fear of death to her as being because she sees death as a mistake. Harrow asks what else it could be, and:
This statement is nonsense to Harrow, and does nothing to answer her question. It's barely more than nonsense to us, until we learn Alecto's story. Now we know it's literally true. It's true, and it's something about Alecto that Harrow did not know. I feel confident in interpreting Alecto as having been in some way present in this scene. (Though her confusion implies to me that her memory loss did not start with Nona! That's fun!)
Then there's this exchange, right after Harrow has tried and failed to physically seduce the Body, and the Body has told her she has to leave:
So fun fact: This is one of the ways I figured out Nona was Alecto. Nona has exactly the same casually dismissive attitude about sexual advances. "Oh, they wanted to see me naked. It was a sex thing. I don't really mind." This one is less certain than the other. If you want to believe the Body in that scene was a hallucination, there are other ways to explain it. But the continuity of personality there is pretty damn convincing to me.
Like, really tho, if the Body wasn't at least sometimes Alecto, then what was the point of all that? Isn't it way more interesting as an inconsistency between aspects, just as Nona and Alecto are inconsistent?

Thanks for your answer 😊🙏 Another question that came to my mind when I read your post about Law liking boys: what do you think about the LawxRobin scenes where he tells her about his "D" (and that he trusts her) and the one after wano victory where they go to underground together?
You're welcome! Also a warning, this is another post replying to multiple asks at once :D
Law x Robin, huh. Sure, let's elaborate on it, but just so you know, my view on them differs greatly from how fandom tends to see their Wano interactions. I spent a lot of time analyzing it in my head (way more than any sane person would) so my initial reaction of "awww so cute he trusts Robin" kinda faded to almost nothing now haha. Just like I stated in that post, I think it was mostly about business. He wanted to know what the D. stands for so he approached the person who was the most likely to know some more information. Sadly, he didn't really gain any new knowledge. As much as I love that scene because it feels like Law is trusting Robin there, I think we shouldn't overestimate it in general. He basically offered a trade (I tell you my hidden name, you tell me something back in exchange - favour for a favour! It's his usual MO with strangers) and I doubt he would do that without any good reason for it. That scene has a different vibe from the one in which he shares about Corazon to Luffy, he's actually opening up and he doesn't expect anything back for it (you can argue he does that so Luffy understands fighting Doflamingo is personal for Law and to leave it up to him, but it's still just for that - so that Luffy understands. It's not a trade). With Robin he seems rather guarded when comparing the two scenes together.
I have my suspicions about their talk there. Law is using veeeery vague words when he claims he shares the info "because he trusts Robin". What he actually says is just this: "omae dakara hanashita" which means literally "I told you because it's you" and you can interpret it any way you like, Robin took it a sign of trust and thanked him, but it's so vague it can also mean something like "I tell this ONLY to you" and that smells of a hidden reason to me. But of course it fits Law's withdrawn personality to not say the words like "trust" straightforwardly, right? But in his scene with Luffy he is kinda openly emotional in contrast - he literally tells him Corazon was the person he loved who gave him his life and that he is deeply indebted to him. Law didn't use many words, but all those words carried emotional weight, unlike the vague phrase he used with Robin. But anyway it wouldn't make sense to say my conspiracy theory here without explaining loose links from Water 7. Also I'm like 50-50 on that and I really think fandom wouldn't want to get spoiled this way in case I'm right.
Their randezvous in the secret chamber doesn't strike me as romantic honestly (I know people love it just because Robin and Law are alone together and oh just few inches from each other, and interpret what Robin says as teasing, but I need more than that for romantic vibes, sorry :D). It basically starts with Robin accusing Law of being a hyena (at least that's how he subjectively felt about that! and she didn't deny) and he gets back at her for it when he shambled only himself to that window (he even keeps his sour face on when she's complaining it's unfair, he doesn't even want to tell her it's a payback haha). Yes, he's that petty. Don't you like it in him? I certainly do, he's so hilarious.
Anyway, the whole scene is just them sharing business together, and it's slightly hinted that Law was kinda eavesdropping on them before he actually joined in, that's why Robin's reaction might have been that strong and a bit hostile. Robin prides herself in being sensitive to people around and their intentions, picking up on the slightest hints other people don't (like she said in Water 7, it's her survival's instinct), but she couldn't sense Law so ofc that would rub her the wrong way. Anime especially did a great job at showing it, with Law appearing out of nowhere exactly when Robin is gonna go down the hidden stairs. A timing a bit too perfect, eh? I wouldn't call Law a hyena (he had perfectly rational reason to be there!), but he sure was so damn sneaky and smooth about it.
Anyway, I guess my point is: those two are very guarded people, both dislike to show a moment of weakness because they know it can result in deadly situation. And they're also both very business-oriented. If there was any scene between Robin and Law that showed them as closer to each other, it would be all the way back in Dressrosa.
Just look at the mutual respect they show each other here! Law isn't acting freaked out by Robin's powers (because why would he, right? His powers are also quite peculiar. But I bet that earned him extra sympathy points here. How many times Robin heard it as a child that she's a monster just because she has devil fruit's powers) but also immediately worries about Robin and Usopp's safety instead of his own. Then he sits down to talk with Robin, just so they're more or less on eye-level, that's really considerate of him, especially in such a tense/crisis situation. And at the end of their talk Robin tosses him a "good luck" (in Japanese apparently it's a different phrase, one you say before a battle), and Law says "same to you" which is the closest he ever gets to say something even slightly akin to a greeting in the whole series. Soon afterwards Robin notices the ground shaking and worries for Law, because she knows it's a sign that he's in a tough fight. This is a huge step for Robin to worry about someone she actually suspected of betraying Luffy in Punk Hazard. She was always guarded whenever Law so much as appeared on screen.
This is also a great scene between them. Robin can't understand Law's dedication to Luffy, she clearly thought Law is indeed seeing their cooperation as only business-style alliance, they share a common goal, Law shouldn't feel like he owes anything to Luffy, and so she tries to appeal to Law's sense of reason here. She does it because she's concerned about him, she reacts really strongly to see him defeated (he definitely has her respect for his strength and skills to manage crisis!), and even more concerned when she notices his severed arm. She tries to make him think straight so he takes care of himself firstmost, but it's not for herself that she's saying it: it's for Luffy. I think Robin realized in Punk Hazard already that Luffy is really attached to Law, so of couse she wouldn't want to see Luffy sad if Law loses his life here, especially not after Luffy entrusted Law to her. She must be really taken aback with Law's final answer. I wonder what she might be thinking about Luffy's importance to Law now, because I would say she kinda caught a wind or at least a hint that Law cares more deeply than it seems at first glance.
Honestly every single one of their interactions in Dressrosa is much more meaningful than anything they shared in Wano, where both of them are just honestly clamming up again. I mean, there is no battle going on anymore (they had conversations in Wano before the plan was set into motion and after the battle has ended), and fighting together tends to bring people momentarily closer. But we shouldn't forget that in daily circumenstances Robin will still keep her guard up and so will Law, because trust in an ally in a battle is different than being emotionally open to a friend. They're both smart and they're not gonna pretend that just because Luffy calls Law his friend, that for Robin alliance means friendship as well. This also stays in line with what I believe is quite realistic when two very traumatized people having issues to open up actually meet and interact. Law might know about Ohara from the newspapers desciribing Enies Lobby incident, but I doubt Robin knows about Flevance or would know to connect Law to it in any way (fics often make her almost clairvoyant how she figures him out, but nah, that's just wishful thinking). That shared traumatic experience could bring them closer, but I think for now it's mostly one-sided, because Robin has no way to know.
Damn, I had a lot to say about all of that, haha. I hope you had fun reading about their interactions from a different angle!
Personally, I think Law x Luffy dynamics work better overall.
Law x Robin:
two very traumatized people
both don't open up and keep their guards around strangers
none can cheer the other because they both have pretty gloom personalities
they like cute things
share same or similar sense of humour (though Robin's more morbid)
both very serious
both good listeners and observant
both independant
both like to tease/stress Usopp (they could form a "tormenting Usopp fanclub", they tease him out of affection ofc)
both like their peace and quiet but also to watch other people cause chaos from afar (unless someone provokes Law)
both cling to cheerful people, both remember their mentor's smile
Etc. I think they would be great best buddies in the longer run and understand each other on a special level.
Law x Luffy:
both like to cheer up people (Luffy's the ultimate person to cheer anyone up. And it brings this side of Law to the light of the day too)
both are reckless little shits liking to cause chaos and beat people up for hurting people dear to them, both don't know when to give up
friendship is a serious matter and so is trust for both of them
one constantly smiles outwardly, the other inwardly
they both know the pain of losing their most important person
one is a younger sibling, the other the older sibling personality type
they understand each other without words
take each other seriously (and almost no one takes Luffy seriously)
both are stubborn mules with competetive side
overdedicated to protect others and not care enough about their own wellbeing in the process
remind each other of people they once loved the most and which they lost
In the longer run those two will cover up for the other's weakness and could literally turn the world upside down together while laughing/smirking.
Summing it up, Robin and Law are similar souls, going side by side. Luffy and Law instead have each other's backs, complementing each other. I feel like it's really a matter of preference and I sway towards Luffy x Law, their interactions are just so fun. But I do enjoy Law x Robin, just more as a friendship. Tbh both work as friendships the best and I tend to prefer them this way. I just think the friendship Law and Luffy have going on is something extraordinary on a whole different level. They're behaving with each other in ways they don't really share with others.
I think it would. But it doesn't have to be his biological family for him to be happy, you know. Whether his partner is a woman or a man, whether his own kid or more like picked up and adopted, it would make him happy just the same. He has already his adopted family in his Hearts Pirates and Wolf. He definitely is already part of Strawhats adopted family as well. And who knows to how many other "found families" he can belong from now on! He deserves a family, he actually deserves more than one that he can call his own.
There is lately one scenario I'm especially fond of actually. If Law becomes a Strawhat officially and Bonney will be also adopted in the crew as a sort of "next generation", he would totally act like a father/older sibling towards her. Sure, he would still act annoyed, worry all the time, but deep down he would love every second of it. He could finally be a brother to a kid that reminds him of Lammy. Life denied him that before so it would mean so much for his healing progress if he could reclaim it. I think as a father he would still act a lot like an older sibling actually. The same way Cora-san is also hard to classify, was he an older sibling, a father figure, a younger sibling, a bit of each combined? Anyway, I'm sure Law would try to live up to his caretaker and return the favour to someone else.
No matter how it would happen, yes, having his family, found or biological, would make him happy. I truly believe it's that one thing in his life he truly wants. Of course, once he has one, he would be worrying and afraid of losing them. Perhaps in that case Strawhats would be his best choice; they're very strong people capable of taking care of themselves, so he could perhaps learn to believe in them, that they wouldn't kill themselves off the moment he takes his eyes off of them. He would still worry a lot and protect them, but at least maybe he wouldn't self-explode in the process. He probably still will.
Indeed it has been asked before :) but no worries, I will link you to the answer so you can read all upon that: https://www.tumblr.com/l-in-the-light/760279386040795136 Enjoy! Sadly I don't have any new thoughts regarding that, otherwise I would add some now :3 Maybe just one: it doesn't matter if it's friendship, romantic relationship, the progress would be similar in this case, or at least I believe that.

It’s me I’m back with Lesson 34 spoilers below. (including the hard lesson)
I always try to write these posts shortly after finishing the lesson so that it’s like… my immediate and unfiltered thoughts lol. Sometimes I change my mind about stuff after I see other people’s interpretations of things. So if you were wondering why I’m taking the time to write this at 2 am, that’s why. I totally forgot about the lesson during the day due to the whole Thanksgiving thing.
ANYWAY.
I feel like we got SO MUCH BARB in this lesson?? He was barely in it. But we had other characters talking about him and that honestly makes me happy, too. Probably because I like when they give us some perspective into his character.
BUT FIRST.
Belphie. We were actually playing the role of Lilith in his little Celestial Realm dream sequence, right? And then at the end it’s all but we’re not siblings.
Listen. I just think that Belphie has a lot of unresolved trauma surrounding Lilith and I really don’t feel like having MC play hide-and-seek with him in a dream is going to be enough to help him move past it. Enough to make him want to help MC? Maybe. But I dunno.
However, I also think I probably shouldn’t expect anything more intense than that from an otome game. They were just trying to give us SOMETHING to explain why he was cool with making a pact.
WHICH WE FINALLY DID. With Beel, Belphie, AND Levi. I get Beel & Belphie doing theirs at the same time, but I’m still a little baffled about why Levi waited so long. There probably isn’t a reason, but who knows maybe they’ll surprise us with something lol.
Ah. Lucifer.
This was my favorite part:

I love Mammon, he always just says exactly what he’s thinking (unless it’s how much he loves MC lol).
But we all knew it wasn’t going to be that easy, right? We knew Lucifer would be last. We knew that Lucifer would be the most difficult one to make a pact with. Remember what happened with him last time? Of course he doesn’t want to make a pact with us now. We’re likely going to be going through some kind of long drawn out drama that will eventually lead to Lucifer giving in and making a pact with us.
However, I found both Solomon’s and Diavolo’s reactions to this absolutely hilarious:

Can the two of you take this seriously, please?? I know you both find Lucifer highly entertaining and yeah, I'm usually laughing at him most of the time, too, but I need that pact to get back to where I'm from, thanks.
But we’re only on Lesson 34. So I think we still have plenty of time to make a pact with Lucifer, learn the truth about Nightbringer, and return to our timeline (or have the timelines merge or whatever nonsense they’re gonna do).
I’m still hoping for all that to get resolved by the end of this season lol.
Now, I found this exchange from Belphie’s Celestial Realm shenanigans especially interesting:

Assuming this is accurate to what actually happened when Lucifer was still an angel, this means that the angels knew Barbatos. They know him by name, they clearly think he’s a big deal, and they’re surprised that he’s agreed to be Diavolo’s butler.
I was always under the impression that the demons and the angels didn’t really know much about each other. But now I’m wondering if maybe Barbatos had something to do with the end of the war that happened before the Celestial War. The one that was between the Celestial Realm and the Devildom. I have no reason for thinking this other than the fact that as angels, Lucifer & Simeon clearly know him. And what else would they know him from? Though I suppose anything could have happened lol.
And then there was all of this:

What does it MEAN?! (Obviously I chose the second option for MC's dialogue, which increased Barb's intimacy.)
Barbatos my true love. Why did you give MC a real piece of paper from your grimoire? He’s always been cautious, always keeping MC at arm’s length, and now all of a sudden it’s here’s a piece of my grimoire? There is NO WAY he doesn’t have all of the build up from the OG. I can’t believe that he would actually give MC a piece of his grimoire if he had only just met them at the beginning of Nightbringer. So I’m tacking this on as additional evidence that Barb knows all.
Also can we just appreciate Lucifer in 32-A? All his brothers are completely out of it and he single-handedly motivates every one of them back into action.

It sure worked, huh? Do you think the credit card is in the freezer yet?
You guys. THE HARD LESSON.
It was everything. I LOVE the Little Ds. I LOVE them hanging out with Diavolo. I LOVE that Barbatos couldn’t accompany MC because Diavolo requested some fancy human world dish. This entire hard lesson was *chef’s kiss*

GOD I love Barb's knowing look and Dia's little frown. I love them so much it's almost painful lol.
Okay that’s all I’ve got to say about this lesson. In general, I enjoyed it. They coulda played up Belphie’s yandere tendencies a bit more. I felt like his change of heart was rather rushed, but they really can’t put him through the therapy he needs. I don’t think the lessons are long enough for that.

~
“Peña. Murphy. My office,” Colonel Carrillo ordered the two men. It was late in the day, and only a skeleton crew still lingered behind.
The two agents looked at each other with a serious expression before they silently stood and followed the Colonel. He seemed stiff, and his expression was unreadable. Neither Steve nor Javi knew what to make of him at that moment.
Carrillo glanced around the empty office as half the lights shut off on their own, leaving the three men in shadows. He inhaled deeply, puffing out his chest as he did so.
Once Javier and Steve reached the doorway of Carrillo’s office, he paused and turned to them, “It has come to my attention that the two of you have been working too hard lately.”
“And?” Steve huffed as he crossed his arms. Javier mirrored the action.
Carrillo flashed a smirk before he opened his office door, “This way.”
Javier and Steve exchanged one last glance before they followed into the dark office. Carrillo was right behind them, and they noticed that he closed and locked the door before he flicked the lights on. And when the two men laid eyes on what surprise the colonel had in store for them, their mouths dropped open in shock.
“Hello boys,” you purred from where you were laid out on the desk.
“Wait a second,” Steve sounded flustered as he tripped over his words.
Javier just grinned, “I didn’t think you had it in you,” he turned to address you by name, “How did you get roped into this?”
“This is some shit Javi would think up. Not you,” Steve interjected.
Carrillo raised his hands in surrender as his eyes dropped to the floor, “This was her idea actually,” he sounded uncharacteristically sheepish at the confession.
The grin never left your face, entertained by the expression of shock and confusion on Steve and Javier’s faces. Finding you naked and tied to Carrillo’s desk was the last thing they expected. But, you had a feeling this was just the perfect remedy they needed.
“Horacio has been under a lot of pressure lately,” you explained, “Juliana and I can tell when he’s off. And… We came up with this arrangement,” you shimmied your shoulders as much as you could while bound by Carrillo’s tight binds, letting the rest explain itself.
Steve and Javier looked at Carrillo. Then, Steve turned to Javier, “How do you know her then?”
“We have a history,” Javier left it at that. His eyes never left the Colonel, though, surprised to find you of all people involved with him.
“Wait, wait,” Steve protested, “I have a wife, you know.”
“You could have brought her too,” you smirked, giving Steve a wink when his eyes locked with yours.
That made Steve blush. Javier covered his face to hide the proud smirk at the fact that you accomplished that. But, his own gaze wandered back to your tied, naked figure spread out of Carrillo’s desk. He clenched his fist as he thought about everything he would easily do to you while you were like that. He couldn’t help the thoughts that popped into his head.
Feeling his gaze on you, you looked up to meet his eyes and your breath caught in your chest for a moment. It wasn’t until you saw Carrillo move from around him and saunter over to you that you remembered to breathe again.
“Here’s how this is going to work,” Carrillo’s commanding voice broke the tension in the room, “She is here for us to use. Get whatever shit you’re holding onto out. And tomorrow, we start fresh.”
Carrillo looked you over, admiring his handiwork. He reached out and gently caressed your body with the back of his hand, causing you to gasp. Your eyes fluttered shut as you savored the light, teasing touch of him, and goosebumps erupted on your skin wherever his hand grazed. Knowing exactly what spots drove you wild, Carrillo gave you light pinches and squeezes, murmuring your name with praise.
“You know your signal if you need to stop,” he spoke softly in your ear as he pulled something out of his pocket.
“I do,” you whispered back as you opened your eyes and were met with his handsome face just inches from yours.
“Good,” Carrillo leaned in and kissed you deeply as he yanked the bandana in his hand taut. Vaguely, you both heard groaning from the other end of the room, and you knew the others were enjoying the little display. He broke away from the kiss, placing one last light one between your eyes before he tied the bandana securely around them, blocking your vision and leaving you even more helpless.
You couldn’t stop the moan as a rush of excitement ran through your veins. It had been a secret fantasy for this to happen, and when the opportunity presented itself, you jumped on it. You arched your back as you felt a hand, Carrillo’s, ran across your chest and stomach, tracing a random pattern until it grabbed your breast firmly. You cried out as he pinched your nipple and rolled it between his calloused fingers.
Javier and Steve watched with sharp eyes as Carrillo caressed your body. They felt the heat all the way on the other side of the office, and they felt just as captivated as you were. Javier had no qualms about what Carrillo proposed from the start, and he unbuttoned his shirt and belt without another word. Even Steve, who was hesitant at first, felt drawn to you, and he too loosened his shirt.
“She’s beautiful isn’t she?” Carrillo smirked with pride as he squeezed your breasts again, making you moan.
The way Carrillo had you tied left you on full display for the men in the room. Your legs were tied to each corner of the desk, spreading them wide and leaving your dripping pussy fully exposed. Your arms were tied together above your head at the other end of the desk, pushing your breasts up. The binds were so tight that you could barely even wriggle from side to side, but you assured Carrillo before he went to get the other two that you were comfortable like this.
You were going to be here for a while after all.
“She is,” Javier murmured as his eyes landed on your cunt. His cock involuntarily twitched in his pants, but all he could think about was devouring your pussy.
Faintly, Steve hummed in agreement as he unzipped his pants.
Javier dropped down to his knees, careful not to touch you so that it would come as a surprise when he finally did. It took a great deal of restraint, but once he was settled between your bound parted legs, he reeled forward and covered your pussy with his mouth, immediately sucking at you hard. You let out a loud scream and arched your back at the sensation.
“That’s it,” Carrillo cooed as he watched Javier lick at your folds.
Without your sight, every move was a surprise, and it only turned you on more. Feeling the tongue against your clit drove you wild, and your moans quickly grew louder and louder. Suddenly, you felt another pair of hands on your breasts, and you cried out when your mind caught up to you and you realized all three men were touching you now.
Not knowing who was where added to the thrill for you. Yet, you had a feeling that it was Javier who was currently between your legs, licking and sucking at you with abandon. The two pairs of hands that caressed your breasts kneaded you harder, and one hand trailed up your body to push two fingers into your mouth. You wrapped your lips around the digits, running your tongue up and down and sucking at the tip without hesitation. The groan the hand’s owner let out went right to your core.
Javier groaned into you, feeling the pulse of need. He grabbed your thighs and picked up his pace with his tongue, rolling it up and down your folds before pushing it into your entrance a few times. His cock ached with need as he tasted you, but he wanted to make you fall apart first. And soon, once his tongue hit your clit again, Javier got what he wanted.
You came without warning, your legs shaking on either side of Javier’s face as you screamed loudly around the finger in your mouth. In the darkness of your blindfold, you saw stars as Javier didn’t relent, working you through your orgasm until a second one hit before you even came down from the first.
Javier broke away with a loud breath, taking in fresh air for the first time. He sat back and admired his handiwork as your pussy glistened before him. He murmured your name as his hand caressed your cunt, running his fingers up and down a few times before he pushed two inside of you.
“That’s it,” he purred as he pumped his fingers in and out of you, making you moan again.
But, just as he was about to pick up his pace, Carrillo grabbed his wrist and forced him out of you, causing both you and Javier to let out sounds of protest. Carrillo looked at Javier with a sharp expression as he shook his head. The message was loud and clear without the words needed: don’t hog her.
Carrillo chose not to speak on purpose, he wanted to keep you guessing who was where, and he wanted every action to surprise you. Without your sight or ability to move, he accomplished just that.
You whimpered when you felt one pair of hands break off of your breast, but immediately screamed when you felt a hand slap your pussy. You jolted in your restraints as the hand slapped your pussy again and you cried out in pleasure.
Steve watched as Carrillo slapped your pussy again, and he couldn’t ignore his down needs. So, he pulled his fingers out of your mouth and pushed his pants down to his ankles, freeing his cock. He stroked it a few times before he gently slapped your cheek with it in a silent order for you to open your mouth. You complied, parting your lips for whoever was next to you, and Steve couldn’t help but praise you.
“Good girl,” he groaned as he slipped his cock past your lips and into your mouth. He let out a low growl as your warmth engulfed him, and you played with his cock with your tongue. Fuck, you were good at this, he thought.
While your mouth was busy with Steve, Carrillo and Javier turned their attention to between your legs. Both men ran their fingers along your already spent cunt, causing you to gasp around Steve’s cock. But, their next action took you even more off guard.
You felt two fingers enter your pussy, easily since you were already so turned on and wet from cumming twice. You moaned around Steve’s cock as you felt the thick fingers fill you up, and your mouth dropped open when they crooked and hit that sweet spot inside you. As those fingers continued to massage the inside of you, you felt another finger poke at your other hole, making you gasp.
Slowly, carefully, the finger entered you, and you cried out in a mix of pain and pleasure. You felt a hand on your breast, squeezing and caressing your sensitive skin while the other fingers pumping in and out of your pussy. Tears filled your eyes as you felt a second finger enter your backside, stretching you out even more.
All three men watched with awe as you took two fingers in each hole while Steve’s cock stayed in your mouth. You looked so beautiful like this, completely helpless for whatever the men wanted, and it only made them want you more. Steve couldn’t stop himself, and he grabbed your head and thrust his cock deeper down your throat as his emotions overwhelmed him.
Javier and Carrillo watched with burning gazes as Steve fucked your face, and in that moment neither of them could wait any longer. They glanced at each other and nodded, knowing exactly what the other was thinking. Slowly, they each pulled their fingers out of you, and they knew you let out a whine around Steve’s cock.
The two men quickly stripped themselves, holding their cocks in their hands and reading themselves for you. It took a little maneuvering, but Jaiver and Carrillo found a way to enter you at the same time. Both of them lifted your hips slightly to expose your body more to them and in doing so gave them the perfect angle to fuck you.
One entered you right after the other, filling you to the brim. You gasped around Steve’s cock as you felt both your holes being filled simultaneously. Tears soaked the bandana as the other two cocks filled you, and you had no idea who took you where. Steve froze for a moment, lost in awe as he watched the other two fill you, and he pulled out of you for a moment to let the screams flow freely.
You gasped for a moment, and it took a second for you to realize that your mouth was free. But when the two cocks pushed deeper inside of you, you let out a loud scream that echoed in Carrillo’s office. Pain mixed with pleasure as you had never felt more filed, and you knew you were safe when you felt hands caressed and roamed all over your body, and you heard soft words of encouragement from all three of them, though you weren't sure which direction each voice came from.
“You’re doing so well, querida.”
“That’s it, just a little bit more.”
“Such a good girl. So fuckin’ pretty.”
Just when you thought you couldn’t feel any more full, Steve thrust his cock back into your mouth, pushing it deeper down your throat and almost making you gag. You felt like a ragdoll as the three of them all started to rock their cocks in and out of you, all at different rhythms and speeds. Never in your life had you felt so helpless, and never if your life had you been more turned on.
Moans and groans filled the room as Steve, Javier and Carrillo all fucked you at the same time. It almost turned into a competition on who could cum first, and who could fill you up the most. They all let out growls as they eyed each other before turning their attention back to you. Losing themselves in the moment, all three men fucked you harder and faster, all chasing their own climaxes.
And the way all three growled went a pulse of need through your entire body, making you clench around all of them.
Steve came first, letting out a loud groan that gave him away to you as he filled your mouth. “Fuck!” he grunted as he watched as you swallowed as much as you could. His hips stuttered as he grabbed your head and yanked you against his hips. You made an obscene noise around his cock as you gasped, but you couldn’t do anything to stop him. Not that you wanted to.
When he was spent, Steve pulled out of you, leaving a trail of spit and seed as the only thing to still connect you both. He watched as your mouth dropped open, taking in a deep breath of air, and his cum splattered all across your lips. You looked a mess, but fuck you looked gorgeous. Steve gently cradled your head, “Good job, sweetheart,” he whispered.
Carrillo watched with a grin, but when you clenched around him, he knew he wasn’t going to last long. He picked up his pace and he growled a mix of curses and praises. His hips slapped against your body as he lost control and after just a few more thrusts, he came hard deep inside you. You gasped as you felt him fill you up, and you moaned as a shiver ran up your spine.
Javier rocked into you even harder, determined to make you cum along with him. He felt your inner muscles clench around him, gripping his cock hard. He reached for your clit, rubbing it with just the right amount of pressure when he felt like he wasn’t going to last any longer.
It didn’t take long for Javier to get what he wanted, and you screamed as your third orgasm crashed into you. Javier kept up his pace as his own followed right behind, his groans drowned out by your cries of pleasure. He kept his pace up and long as he could until he buried his cock fully inside you with one final grunt.
All three men stayed still for a moment, catching their breaths. Carrillo and Javier stayed buried inside you, neither wanting to leave you just yet. But, Carrillo could tell you were getting sore at this angle, and he tapped Javier, indicating what you needed. Slowly, reluctantly, they both pulled out of you, causing you to gasp and whimper.
“It’s alright, querida,” Carrillo’s soothing voice comforted you.
“Are you alright?” Javier asked.
“Never fucking better,” you replied with a soft smirk once you caught your breath. You let out another sharp exhale when you felt hands all over your body once more.
“Ok, I’ll admit,” Steve interjected, “That was fucking hot… And just what I needed.”
Javier nodded in agreement as he eyes trailed up and down your figure, “You were amazing, cariño,” he purred.
“Good,” Carrillo’s tone dropped, “Because we aren’t finished here yet…”

could you post the okiyuma rants anyway. i would like to understand the vision
Yea ok! These were all over the place so I tried to rewrite and organize them to be more or less coherent

[I saw you mention in the tags that you aren’t familiar with their lore so for context: Yuuma’s bio, Okina’s bio + summary of her religious references, Yuuma's Stage 8 cutscene and ending (text only 1 2), and a rundown of their story line in Sunken Fossil World:
both of them want to monopolize the oil/blood sea in the Former Hell of Blood Pools, but Yuuma found it first; Okina causes the oil to leak on the surface and pollute the water, prompting several Gensokyo residents to investigate. None of them manage to defeat Yuuma, so Okina sends in Flandre to kill her. Yuuma is resurrected and seeks to form an alliance between her organization and Gensokyo, so she and Okina become co-managers of the Hell of Blood Pools. People keep wandering in there for sightseeing, forcing Yuuma to seek the culprit. She confronts Okina and they blame each other for the tourist problem and end up battling. After Yuuma wins, they catch the Yorigami sisters trying to scam people with the tours, but they decide to leave that whole problem for Reimu to deal with]
Ok so:
(↑ taken from a different translation)
My interpretation is that during their fight they came to understand each other by using their powers: Yuuma can comprehend things by consuming them; Okina says "your back is not lying to me" so maybe she could gain insight of a person by peering through a door on their back (using her unexplained power over mental energy?)
(and she straight up says that the only way to understand Yuuma is to be consumed)
Elaborating on that, does Okina want to be consumed because of her usual attention-seeking tendencies (wanting to be known and understood)? If Yuuma consumed some abstract fragment of Okina during the fight - and she perceives things by swallowing them whole - would she crave more to get a clearer picture?
And despite seeing Yuuma's true nature, Okina only grows more fond of her; everyone else in SFW was freaked out by her or at least disliked her.
There is also a certain term that Okina uses in that exchange that was kinda lost in translation:
(I get that it was likely translated to avoid confusing people with her theatrical/religious references, but her dialogue in HSiFS is just as confusing for the exact same reason, yet none of it was dumbed down like this)
Translating it as lie or madness feels like over-explaining a metaphor; the whole point is that she implies both. It's also possible to interpret it as her comparing Yuuma to herself - it's said that everyone dances to Okina's script, meaning that she is a god of noh and a manipulator. So in that sense she implies that Yuuma is being a manipulator too; alternatively, she is calling Yuuma a disruption, like a kyogen performer in a noh play.
Yuuma also likens Okina to herself calling her unparalleled in greed - much like when she says it to the Yorigami sisters, she seems to mean it as a compliment (she also lives off greed and appears to enjoy eating it the most) Speaking of compliments:
Madness is a running theme in SFW: Yuuma is shown to be going mad from trying to consume all desire and hatred from the dead beings from which the oil is made. She toils alone without rest, wallowing in her own greed as she fantasizes about all the power she will have to dominate both hell and the surface world, and viciously defends her petroleum from intruders.
(source)
In this context, madness is meant as recklessness, destruction (and self-destruction), and especially greed. The entire plot pretty much revolves around Yuuma, Okina, and their greed.
Yuuma is more honest with herself at least:
Okina gets an excuse because in the end the oil is in the right hands (allegedly), but she still caused pollution on the surface and manipulated Flandre only so she could take control of the Hell of Blood Pools:
(source)
However without her involvement, the incident would not have happened in the first place. This reinforces her as a god who sometimes uses destructive means for the "greater good". In this case, it is a bit similar to her role as a god of tengu-warding, and how that concept works.
For context:
(source 1 2)
(source)
In the Grimoire of Usami Okina talks about looking for "true madness", she also chastises her servants for spreading madness poorly; both likely in reference to her warding off madness (lack of wisdom/enlightenment in this context) by spreading it herself.
So it's ironic that Yuuma "defeats" Okina with her own methods: like Okina's attempt to beat Yuuma with Flandre's destructive powers (beating a void with another void); and like the leap dance is meant to ward off tengu, Yuuma's mad performance ("your kyogen") defeats Okina. That metaphor also ties off their ending as they agree to exist not as enemies but as ~business~ partners, like the link between noh and kyogen.
It's also interesting that Okina avoided a direct confrontation with Yuuma until the very end, probably because she knew they could just keep fighting indefinitely - Yuuma would just keep consuming everything Okina could throw at her. Yuuma won because she managed to drag Okina into that futile fight - that realization was likely what made Okina concede. Besides being the only person (so far) who can stand up to Okina, Yuuma also is the only one who almost saw through Okina's scheme in SFW - she got her overall intentions right, but instead of blaming the oil leaks on her she thought it was the tours.
Bonus Yuuma bringing up Okina for no reason in UDoALG even though she's got nothing to do with the plot at all
So yea they are funny and annoy everyone around them including themselves and then they destroy each other for fun. They should be together in future games or manga and say more weird shit and cannibalistic innuendos for me to overthink <3
#tbh i have more half baked thoughts. mostly about yuuma#but this is already long and unhinged as it is#touhou#ask#okiyuma

Abyss
🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️😇🧸👻🎶👽💤🦾💝🫂💔 🪢📓👗🔪🌟🥇🍫🎭❤️🔥💄🖕😸😬😭😶
Yeah, you’re also doing the entire ask meme. Have fun <3
EVERY SINGLE ONE?? YOU MADMAN???
anyways-
none of this is canon blah blah you get it and abyss is not owned by me but @/metakazkz this is simply my own interpretation.
🏳️🌈- Aroace.
🏳️⚧️- Don't really have one, maybe demiboy?
😇- I believe the term here is misotheism? Yeah.
🧸- Abyss love for reading manifested in keeping himself occupied while tests were being run on him in the lab. Not that he remembers much of that...
👻- He has a minor fear of blood, probably doesn't help he doesn't have it himself. He also fears being seen as weak or just underestimated. I think he also doesn't like the idea of losing himself.
🎶- Prefers instrumentals over normal music. Likes classical music and gothic rock.
👽- Type to go "erm actually!" and enjoys correcting people 🙄 especially when it comes to the books he reads. annoying ass /j
💤- He actually finds it comforting to sleep with other people, although he finds it a little embarrassing so he won't ask for it. If he does sleep with another person, he tends to lay his scarves like a blanket on the other. He prefers smaller cuddle piles though, he can feel a little overwhelmed otherwise.
🦾- I didn't really have one for this, so I tried to think of one. Perhaps...Magic usage most people can do exhausts him to a much greater extent than others. It can give extreme fatigue, to the point he may just fall asleep in battle. Maybe his enhanced magic takes a great strain on his body? this counts right? ajshskwususkeuwjeiekjehe
💝- Gift exchange or Acts of Service.
🫂- He and Delta are friends... Why? Because why not, that's my answer (I wanted to do this in another post I'll explain it further there).
💔- Alphys has hope that the other members of Abysstale are still out there. Abyss has lost hope they're out there, but won't say it because he doesn't want to admit it. Something dramatic like that. He doesn't like mentioning those "missing" at all just reminds me of what's he lost. He's now scared to let his friends out of sight in fear something will happen out of his control again
📓- Paper crane made him realize he really likes paper crafts! He can make complicated sculptures.
🧬- Papyrus and Him disagree on what Abyss Gaster purpose for them is. Yay!
👗- He dresses in winter outfits because he enjoys the aesthetic of it. He also just likes winter (he canonically prefers winter environments :3).
🔪- He does have offense powers, but uses defensive ones. That's sorta kinda canonish. He eventually learns to make shields big enough to fit more than himself.
🌟- He wants to be looked at a competent leader. Not only by others but also by his own standards. Since he didn't feel like I could be one at first he feels even more pressured not let others down. (that's just one of em but this post is so LONG)
🥇- If you ever need someone to be direct and honest about your flaws look no further than this guy LMFAO.
🍫- He really likes fish, he prefers it raw. Likes fishing with his teeth.
🎭- Generally Abyss is pretty forecoming. HOWEVER!
❤️🔥- Doesn't mind doing some romantic actions, but doesn't like having it be read as romantic (does this count?).
💄- He has markings all over his body that glow when he uses his CELL specific magic (haven't illustrated this yet...).
🖕- He has an intense fear of being seen as weaker than others or weak in general so any implications that he IS weak, incompetent, etc make him the
😬 - I don't have anything for this I'm sorry lmfao.
😺- When angry, he growls like a cat. He hisses too, but that's more when annoyed rather than angry.
😭- He feels incredibly guilty about the critical condition papyrus ends up in. He feels guilty that his brother had to come to his rescue /again/.
😶- He has a list of goofy insults within his jacket pocket. It's written by himself when he thinks of a good one.
if some of these shorter or less thought out sorry I started running out of stream lmfao

I’d love to hear about your bird guys!!! :D

tumblr is tripping balls today. also hi I got Wildly distracted midway through writing this. which is news to absolutely no one ajdbsjdbsj apologies
Bird dudes! (Context,) I’m homebrewin a big ol DnD campaign for a couple people (this is the Kunirn stuff I occasionally post about), the Bird Dudes are part of it ajdbsj. The two characters imma briefly yap about are gonna feature as NPCs but as of right now are essentially blorbos. I’m gon put this under a cut this is gonna be a long ass post lmao
The Bird Dudes are a homebrew race- I’ll dig up some sketches at some point, but vulture + harpy inspired (big fuckers, native to desert regions, wings + arms conjoined, and neck fluff n shit. because there was precisely no one around to stop me when I made that decision.)
Just to explain the words for the species, seeing as they’re taken directly from a conlang from Kunirn:
Feminine: krikǔ (singular)/krikǔu (plural)
Masculine: krili (singular)/krilip (plural)
Neuter: krikhǔ (singular)/krikhe (plural)
(The neuter form being used either to describe a group made up of multiple genders or group/individual that isn’t a man or woman. Gender fucky bird dudes are a big ol canon thing.)
Like I said I currently have 2 krikhe NPCs, Kik (he/xey) and B’âor (it/he). I’ll only give a summary n try not to go too much into the worldbuilding else we. Will be here all day. (Fun fact! Whilst both are masc leaning in some capacity, both are a krikhǔ)
Kik is a priest within Ækich’s (god(dess) of, amongst other things, souls) temple. He’s fairly low ranking and fairly young (equivalent of a human 24-ish year old), a good chunk of what xey do is treating the sick within the city (Rurlek) xey’re in. He’s essentially a cleric- fairly frequent magic user (the temple also does shite around translating texts, interpreting/aiding troubling dreams, etc. For the most part stuff related to communication n better connecting people), and dedicates the majority of his time to Ækich. Xey’re a tiny bit pathetic (affectionate). A sad lad. Wont go into much more with him bcs one of my players (hi lad) might see this ajdhsidj, if I give more details in another post I’ll properly spoiler warn it.
B’âor is a part of a travelling commune, (Khe Shumakhgo, though it’s often shortened to Shekhe since individual members started being called Ekhe). Again without going into to much detail because This Post Is Long Enough Already, they trade materials and information in exchange for food and/or shelter (in both directions). The group tend to travel and pick up people as they go, much of the commune is made up of outlaws, pilgrims, etc. B’âor, during canon being one of the older and longer standing members, has essentially ended up in an organisational position. And a bit of a dad. In my notes I refer to it as Dad Bird half the time ajfbsjdb.
This is incredibly rambly. And not even slightly proofread. But ajfbsjdb if you want any elaboration lemme know! I love bird dudes <3333
#I’ll do some sketches at some point. or dig some out#asks and answers#oc: B’âor#oc: Kik#fantasy worldbuilding#sending love btw fizz o7

5 universes where Clemensia is in love, and the 1 she once was
~~~~
a set of blurbs with Clemmie being paired with a different love interest:
masterlist
`
III. Reaper Ash - in a AU where the games don't exist. Could be read as post- the art of falling (for you)
Based on a hc of mine that in 11, weaving a ring out of grass for your significant other is a show of commitment. Could be taken as a proposal, but it’s also often done as a task by couples in the days leading up to their wedding.
~~~~
Reaper silently thanked the stars that as warm as his cheeks were, Clemensia didn’t notice. “What?” he stammered, wondering if he’d misheard her.
“Would you teach me?”
“Teach?” Did she know what she was asking from him?
“Yes, teach,” she echoed, looking a little puzzled now. “Okra said to ask you when I asked how to make a grass ring like the one she had on.”
`
Making a grass ring…oh stars. It was almost synonymous with proposing.
Everyone knew that. Well. Everyone in 11 knew that.
Oh no, what if he taught her, and then she found out the tradition and thought he’d tricked her into something? What if–
`
“Reaper?”
“No!” Just as quickly, he regretted his reply when he saw the flash of hurt on her face. “Wait, Clem–”
“Fine, then don’t teach me. You don’t have to be so rude about it.” With that, she stomped off. “I’ll just get Quagmire to teach me.”
No, no, no!
`
It was Reaper’s good fortune that Quagmire has the sense to turn Clemensia down when she asks him to teach her. But at the same time, she was now convinced that he’d been responsible for Quagmire’s refusal and that he’d told his friend not to teach her.
Sweetheart, please…
`
“Fine, I’ll teach you,” he blurts out when pressed for an answer. What if the next person she asked said yes?
“You will?”
Fates, it should be illegal for her to look so adorable. “Just don’t go asking anyone else anymore, okay?”
“Alright.”
`
“Clemmie.” He probably should explain things before someone else does. “I mean, the rings–” He struggled to find the right words. “In 11, people only make them when they’re in a serious relationship.” There it was out in the open now.
“Oh.”
Is that a good ‘oh’ or a bad one?
“Are you trying to say that we’re not–”
“No,” he says hurriedly. “I am very serious about this – us. I’m just saying that some people here could interpret asking about making these rings a certain way. But I’m happy to teach you just because you want to learn.” Fates, he was rambling now. What was he even saying? “It doesn’t even have to–”
`
“Reaper, you’re very silly.” She pressed a kiss to his cheek and his brain more or less short-circuited. “Now that I know the meaning, why would I ask anyone else to teach me?”
Clemensia was going to be the death of him one day, he was sure of it. She and that smile of hers.
~~~~
Making the ring is simple enough, unless you’re Clemensia Dovecote and decided that nothing short of perfection is acceptable. It’s a bit amusing to watch her focus on the task as if her life depends on it.
For all her effort, her ring turns out a little big for her finger, and a bit wonky – Reaper thought it looked fine. But because he can’t bear to see her pout over unseen imperfections, he offered up the ring he’d made in exchange.
`
“Here,” he says, swapping their rings. “This one looks like it’ll fit me better than you. Take mine, it’s a little snug.”
Their rings are a perfect fit for one another.
blacksnake, liu xiao cat boy truthing, and dies badly (help. 👀) for the ask game 🥰
also r and c wait omg
(wip ask game)
help. blacksnake is redacted for exchange reasons and also very theoretical rn, so you won't get too much info on that yet (tldr. sorcerers & biting & girls who are trying to kill each other.)
beyond that:
[r and c]
r & c are like. you know how sometimes you have to realize your interpretation of some characters have diverged enough that they are literally your ocs. anyway: baby's first fuckedup powerdynamic.
r & c are like... horrible, horrible nightmares, i've gone through at least 3-4 different docs for them and been rotating them in my head since i was like twelve— sometimes you grow up around each other and around a fucked-up power dynamic that skews one way but is in a weird sort of balance, and the environment you're in locks you together and is a pit of vipers that you're terrible with, is nothing you can trust but is something you both rule anyway. sometimes you're estranged and resentful and filled with betrayals no one else will understand, because the history between you two runs deep and horrible. augh. none of this is coherent, but: baby's first fuckedup powerdynamic. i had to go through a doc from years ago for this but i think you could literally find the roots of what (my version of) veinxiao currently look like in that mess of ensemble members. speaking of—
liu xiao catboy truthing
okay well i'm not talking about the humiliating part of this, which is 500-ish words that will ideally never be posted publicly, and instead i am saying: hi. babyveinxiaoverse. the thing is that liu xiao keeps getting his head recreationally broken and then going and walking around like that...? and he doesn't actually know his own limits i believe (hubris, god complex, nightmare whose skin it's usually harder to get under than that) so— i think he recognizes this minimally outside of practicality.
which is to say that i think if you poked him in the right place at the right time fresh enough off having had sex with vein he would have a panic attack about it and then spin a spiderweb around you to wreck your whole life about it out of panicked fury hence why consequences wip is so precarious. this is lowkey forever interesting to me in the sense that i do think it has happened outside of vein's sight at least once in any verse where veinxiao are doing— well. gestures at their mess that is real to me. and it is compelling to me in the sense of: composure shattered before u proceed to be awful about it. teeth and manipulation, etc.
^ this wip is less about that though than just that i think vein should wrangle him into being normal <3 and be very exasperated about it <3
dies BADLY
sighs deeply. liu xiao woobification. actually this is probably never getting finished so hi you get screencaps you have already seen, i think it fucks. i'm literally not explaining this one beyond: babyveinxiaoverse context.
(Weird question: do you think Balduran/Emperor could be the Adversary Illithid? Like, he remembers way too much and is attached to things from Balduran's life, and Withers can recognize him as Balduran in certain circumstances-but the game explores ceremorphosis in a way that makes it pretty ambiguous.)
(I like to think he can qualify as the Adversary under the right circumstances, but he's not the only candidate-and depending on your choices, others can fill the role of the Adversary.)
(Also, my preferred interpretation of his whole Partialism deal is that at least a part of Balduran's soul is in there; but how much of it is left, and how much sway it holds over the rest of him, is up to interpretation. Either way, Emperor/Balduran deserved better, and you can't convince me to side with Orpheus.)
honestly this isn't the weirdest question, because i'm pretty sure i've seen other people talk about the same thing. balduran's partialism seems to be rather unique, especially if you compare him with omeluum, another illithid who retained aspects of its former self- by admission, omeluum used its former self's knowledge of the arcane to escape its colony which is how it ends up in the underdark, but if you tell omeluum about the nautiloid in exchange for the ring of mind shielding it says something along the lines of "this is a gift to feel closer to my people" or whatnot. omeluum uses its freedom to do research on other sources of nutrition for illithids, which is arguably still more on track with the illithid desire to continue to evolve.
in contrast, balduran never really counts himself with other illithids, even if you choose to tell him "the more you talk with me the less like a mind flayer you seem" he says basically "thanks but this is what i am now"- at the same time, he shows so much more emotion than other illithids- granted our comparisons are either the nautiloid illithid or omeluum (the first one says "i no longer need you" and turns hostile if you kill the cambion on the ship whose name i've forgotten lmao, and omeluum is omeluum) so it's not a huge sample size.
anyway moving on, as he gains his freedom, the emperor decides "lmao let's take down the absolute" and if balduran was transformed under moonrise then he genuinely is saying let's kill the elder brain of our colony, which is incredibly adversary of an idea. but more than that, balduran is shown to be incredibly self serving- he will even go back to the elder brain if you side with orpheus because he thinks it is the Safer Route- similarly he won't use the netherstones to become the new absolute because he says "a war with the githyanki is not one i think i would survive"- balduran likes being alive and so his behavior is tailored to that more than anything else.
but you're right, there are a lot of things that make him fit the role as the adversary, and while it's never explained as to why, withers does recongnize balduran AND withers also says in act 2 that mind flayers lack souls. and by this, they don't have apostolic souls that can be influenced by the gods, but it doesn't mean they're SOULLESS, they just don't have souls that can fuel the gods.
this is from a post earlier on this blog where i thought about the withers thing and also i have mentioned before that ansur being able to pick balduran out from a group of illithids is also an argument for balduran having some parts of his former soul- honestly this has become me rambling now but the answer is yeah he COULD be under the right circumstances but right off the bat he isn't by default!
#o sing a song of balduran ⎛ meta analysis ⎠#OK this is just me rambling i know but it was asked so i answered
2, 11, 27 for the fic ask :]
2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go? my original story has like, an entire notebook's worth of notes written about it and that hasnt helped me write it At All. meanwhile this fic I'm writing rn. zero planning just vibes. and it's worked out so far. (it will probably not be very strong narrative-wise, let's be real) so I just wing it.
11. Link your three favorite fics right now I'm going to interpret "right now" broadly because I don't have a ton of bookmarks lol
https://archiveofourown.org/works/44727055 this is like. one of my favourite works ever. and it's a dc comics fanfic. on god I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't the SLIGHTEST idea who either character that this fic deals with is. I'm serious. also I find it so cool how it's an AU but it's entirely canon compliant (or was before some new comics came out). anyway I'm not selling this very well but it's about clones and identity and coming back from the dead. VERY GOOD VERY ENJOY 👍
https://archiveofourown.org/works/47150170 original fic about a girl with an eating disorder who falls in love with her tapeworm. it's fucked up and a great read (and soon nearing its end 😔 I'm a bit scared ngl) (also I like how it updates live. like every journal entry is actually posted as if the story was happening chronologically)
I was debating but I cannot pick a third one for the life of me so I leave you with these two!!
27. What is your most and least favorite part of writing? ok. had to think hard about this one.
I love the interactions I get while writing? like when I send a snippet to someone and get to see their reaction, or when I get an impromptu english lesson with a friend (happens more often than you think. my english is not good) or just, idk, when we do teamwork to find the word that is just right for what I'm trying to say. also I love explaining concepts I've come up with (when I actually know what I'm trying to say!) and I love bouncing ideas off each other. it's the little exchanges!
(I also love my writing style and I love seeing the word count go up. very serotonin inducing.)
my least favourite part is probably just… how motivation ebbs and flows. one day you have the stamina enough to write an entire chapter, and you ride that high for as long as you can, and next thing you know you've crashed and can't write more than a sentence in your document for a week. there's no one way to recharge that energy that works 100% of the time. so there's a certain frustration that comes with that.
