I don’t think apocalypse is as bad as people say as a movie on its own, but I think it works badly as a sequel to the specific prequel movies before it.
Both first class and days of future past are very character driven movies, specifically centered on the relationships between Charles, Erik and Raven. It does a god job of making you understand where they are all coming from and not always having a clear cut right and wrong. And that nuance is not followed up on nearly as well on apocalypse
Like Erik’s (second) backstory is well acted but does not make sense at this point in his story given his end in dofp. And I can’t really sympathize with it the way the movie wants to because quite frankly humans are not the biggest threat to mutant children in the movie… it’s him and apocalypse. Quicksilver’s scene is cool as usual but it takes away some of the seriousness from the fact that if not for him happening to pass by, all the children at the Xavier institute would be dead. Alex is. All collateral for his pain.
Raven and Charles have a similar problem where I actually like the conflict of her thinking that he could be doing more and that the school while protecting them isn’t preparing them for the world outside. But she is the one walking into his home to insult him and his work. “This was your home, I just lived here” is cruel and dismissive of everything that they once where to each other. The discussion lacks the mutual care and respect among the pain that otherwise makes the relationships in the prequels so interesting.
Which could be really interesting if there was a bit more of a resolution. She does choose him and the school at the end of the movie, presumably because almost loosing him makes her recognize he’s the family she has left and that she can do more good for the world and the students by taking being there as a the role model they think she is.
But it’s a little flimsy when at start of the movie it doesn’t even seem like she likes him. I can make the connections myself but I need a bit more from the movie in order to give it credit for it. Like cut away the unnecessary wolverine sequence and you have the space to add a single conversation where they talk and she mentions being ready trying to reconnect for real

“We’re Family Charles Xavier x Reader x Erik Lehnsherr”
Prompt 16: I never meant to hurt you. ” 149: “ Since when have we ever been friends? ” Celebrity: Charles "Professor" Xavier (Played by James McAvoy) and Erik Lehnsherr aka Magneto (Played by Michael Fassbender) Movie: X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse Spoilers: Minor spoilers for a specific scene in X-Men: First Class Summary: You are fighting alongside the very first X-Men on the beach in Cuba. As Erik decides what the fate will be of innocent human lives, you step in the control the chaos. Unfortunately, that comes at a cost. Warnings: Assumptions of death, blood, yelling A/N Your powers are tattoo manipulation, which means any tattoo on your body can be transformed into power for your benefit. For example, if you have a tattoo of a bird on your arm, you can manipulate the bird's power of flight, and use it to make you fly. Also, Professor Xavier can walk in this. Any dialogue that doesn’t have quotation marks are telepathic conversations with Charles. There are also a few more pictures in this than usual.
Tumblr media
The air was quickly ripped away from you as your body was thrown against the hard metal of a destroyed submarine. Your head was spinning and you could feel droplets of blood dripping down the side of your head. A red tail wrapped itself around your neck and suspended you in the air. As you struggled to get air into your lungs, a blast knocked Azazel unconscious; you dropped to the ground. Alex ran up to you asking, "Are you alright?" You nodded muttering "That was a nice shot." The two of you ran over to where the others were fighting on the beach. Meeting up with Hank, Mystique, and Sean (Banshee), the five of you tried to look for the professor. Riptide saw this and created winds to blow you all to the ground. Glancing at your four elements tattoo, you dug your hands into the sand creating a large wall that stopped the wind; you all got up. The beach was quiet, and fighting initially stopped as everyone looked at what was heading their way.
Missiles
Tons and tons of missiles were targeted at the very beach that you stood on. Mystique had a ton of worry in her voice as she asked you, "Do you think you can stop that?!" Shrugging your shoulders, you muttered, "There's only one way to find out." Glancing at your alchemy tattoo, your arms instinctively went up. The missiles slowed down immensely, but they continued coming, and you yelled in anger. You didn't notice the person standing next to you until the missiles stopped completely.
Tumblr media
With his arm out and parallel to yours, Erik stood to your right. "You're thinking too much. Let your powers come naturally." Turning your head, you see that Charles has also joined everyone else on the beach. He telepathically tells you to let Erik handle the missiles. You drop your arms feeling the weight disappear, and you notice a new piece of headgear on top of Erik's.
Charles, what is that thing?
He can resist all my attempts to contact him telepathically. The helmet blocks me and my powers out.
The others move towards where you are and ask both Charles and Erik if they are alright. While Charles answers in his signature calm voice, Erik's voice drips with hate. "Why do we insist on saving these humans? We are the ones who have to live in fear of them, and yet here they are launching missiles at us!" His eyes become darker and as his hand turns, the weapons that were originally aimed at your friends are aimed back at the ships that fired them. You stand in front of Erik and look him in the eyes. "Look at me, Erik. Do you see what you are doing? We want a world where both humans and mutants can live together peacefully. I understand that they are trying to get rid of us, but that's because they're scared of what they don't understand. If you send those missiles back, then you are proving to everyone that we- that you- are no better than they are. Don't do this, please."
He finally meets your eyes and you can see all the pain inside of your friend, but even through all that pain, anger overshadows it all. It's evident that you haven't changed his mind, and as you move to the side Charles steps in to see if he can further persuade him. "Erik, you said yourself we're the better men. This is the time to prove it. There are thousands of men on those ships. Good, honest, innocent men! They're just following orders." His demeanor drops momentarily and you can see that behind all that anger is a little boy who is lost in the world. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long, and his eyes become cold again as he speaks. "I've been at the mercy of men just following orders.
Never again."
Tumblr media
His hand shoots forward and the missiles take off. Charles yells as if he were insane. "Erik release them!" Seeing as that did nothing, you quickly charge towards him, tackling the two of you to the ground. The missiles drop slightly and some of them explode mid-air, but it's not enough. He grumbles angrily as his forearm hits you in the face "I don't want to hurt you. Don't make me!" The rest of the team try to come to your aid, but Erik yells at them to "Stand back!" and they are thrown backward. His hand goes up again and the missiles continue their journey towards the ships. You plead at him to stop and try to move his hand down, but that only leaves you met with two hard fists to the face. As you lay on the ground blood pouring from now your head and your mouth, Erik stands and focuses his control over the weapons. You glance at Charles and let him into your mind as you speak.
I can get the helmet off. Just be ready to hold him after I do.
He shakes his head in disapproval, and you force yourself to stand, noticing Erik has lost interest in you. Taking a running start, you jump onto his back and yank the helmet off, screaming "Charles now!" Your body is flung backward so far and so fast, you don't land until you crash through the abandoned submarine almost on the other side of the beach. Charles quickly uses his powers to keep Erik from moving. With one last burst of energy, you manage to stop the missiles and disarm them, so they harmlessly fall into the ocean. You toss Erik's helmet to the side and lay there, tired.
Voices scream for you, but they sound miles away and you can't make out who the voice belongs to. You turn onto your side and close your eyes, just wanting to be free of the pain that is coursing through your body. The voices continue to call out for you, and only when they're right in front of you do you force your eyes to open. All of the friends you have fought alongside have run to your aid, and Shaw's band of misfits have fled the beach. Charles drops in front of you and carefully lifts you into his lap, causing you to cry out. Everyone looks down and sees a shard of metal sticking out of your side. Charles tells Hank and Mystique to go get the jet, and they run off.
He rips his gloves off his hands and places one against your cheek. "Darling, I need you to stay awake for me. The jet is on its way, and once we get you on board then we'll be able to get back to the school to fix you up." You gently take a hold of his other hand "It hurts so much Charles." Tears well up in the professor's eyes but he blinks them away as he nods. "I know. I know sweetheart, but you have to stay awake." Glancing around the circle that has been formed around you, you notice someone is missing. "Where is Erik?" Alex looks around before getting up and walking away. There is yelling momentarily, and then footsteps return, but Alex isn't alone.
Erik sees what he's done to you, and drops to his knees in disbelief. Tears fall freely down his face as he mumbles "Oh god, what have I done?" He takes your other hand and notices the shard of metal lodged into your side. "I can get it out, but only if you let me. If we try to move her there is no guarantee it won't hit a vital organ." Charles snaps his head up and instead of arguing for once since this battle has begun, has agreed with Erik. He looks at you and strokes your cheek as he tells you. "There's nothing to be afraid of, darling." You cough slightly and utter out. "I thought I told you not to read my mind." A sad smile appears on his face as he replies. "I don't need to read your mind to know you're scared."
Tumblr media
Your gaze turns to Erik, and he is still in tears as he tells you "I never meant to hurt you." Squeezing his hand you tell him "You let your anger cloud your judgment. It may seem empowering at first but in the end, it destroys everyone. I couldn't let it destroy you too." That was enough to help Erik pull himself together, and focus on pulling the metal out. As he concentrated, Charles along with Alex and Sean tried their hardest to distract you from the pain. It worked momentarily until the final part of the piece of metal proved to be problematic in coming out. You told Erik to just move it as fast as you can, and when he did you cried out. Charles held onto you for dear life as you did, and the metal piece was thrown somewhere. Your breathing became panting at this point, and you tell Erik "Thank you."
The jet flies around the corner and quickly lands while the bottom opens up. You are helped into the plane and laid down on a table. Erik and Charles stay behind momentarily to have a talk. The professor picks up the helmet Shaw originally wore and hands it to Erik. His face saddens and he holds it into the air and uses his powers to convert the helmet into nothing but a small ball of metal. Taking it in his hand, he chucks the ball into the ocean, and Charles puts his arm around him as they walk into the jet. The ride is silent for a while until Erik gets up and stands next to Charles who has stood next to you since the jet took off. His face becomes sad again as the reality of what he has done hits him; he cries. "My dear friends, I never meant to cause any of you this much pain." You look up at him confused as you ask “Since when have we ever been friends?” His heart falls and he turns to leave, but you quickly reach out for his hand. You squeeze it and offer him a small smile. "We're family, Erik. All of us." Looking into his eyes, you can see a glimpse of genuine happiness as he goes back to his seat. Charles says nothing, but gives you a nod. As he sits down and as you doze off, you hear his voice in your head.

Tottenham vs Liverpool PLAYER RATINGS: Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson excel
Liverpool won the Champions League for the sixth time in their history thanks to Mohamed Salah The second-minute penalty and Divock Origi's late second.
They struck the decisive blows in the final despite Tottenham creating most of the chances in the second- half.
Sportsmail's PETE JENSON was at the Wanda Metropolitan to rate each of those players involved in the final.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson lifts the European Cup after their win over Tottenham
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (4-2-3-1)
Hugo Lloris
Handling was not always the best and the best way to avoid an unnecessary corner in the first half but he tipped over Robertson's well-struck shot to prevent Liverpool doubling lead. 6
Kieran Trippier
Unsettled by Mane running behind him from the first kick. Responded aggressively but with so much to do defensively couldn't get where Spurs desperately missed his quality delivery. 6
Kieran Trippier had too much on his plate defensively to help Tottenham going forward
Toby Alderweireld
Tried to get Tottenham playing from the back and one long pass found Son but struggled with the midfield so swamped in front of him . 6.5
Jan Vertonghen
Played one very special long ball to Trippier in the first half and another fine diagonal to Rose. When Tottenham were ragged and had to play long his distribution was good. 7
Danny Rose
Like Trippier on the other side his forward raids were limited and when he did get the move broke down when he did put the ball behind Son. Was better in the second half carrying the fight to Liverpool. 6.5
Danny Rose was limited in opportunities to push forward but improved in the second-half "class =" blkBorder img-share "/>
Danny Rose was limited in opportunities to push forward but improved in the second half
Moussa Sissoko
Maybe Mane did just blast the ball on his extended arm in the area but it was still naive to spread himself that way in the area. He never lost his head afterwards but neither was he able to get the team playing. 5.5
Harry Winks
Picked ahead of Wanyama for his ability to keep the ball and build the play but couldn't impose himself and was tasks off in the second half with Pochettino moving Eriksen back in an effort to get Tottenham playing. 5.5
Harry Winks couldn't impose himself in the midfield battle and was removed after half-time
Christian Eriksen
Tried to drift off the right and feed Son and midway through the first half worked when he threaded one pass through. Blazed over from edge of area. Dropped back when Winks went off. Not the worst but Madrid won't be breaking the door down. 7
Dele Alli
Wasted one break with an over-hit pass to Son that ran straight to Alisson. Failed to link up with Kane or run in behind Liverpool's defense in the first half. Improved but one dinked shot was the closest he came. 6

Heung-min Son
Worked hard with diagonal runs across the Liverpool defense but it wasn his night. Missed a chance when put through by Eriksen. Looked most likely to unsettle Liverpool. 6.5
Harry Kane
Questions about his fitness but most of Tottenham's moves broke down long before the ball got anywhere near Kane. Tough to come back from nine games and take the final by the scruff of the neck. 6
Harry Kane struggled to make much of an impression following his return from injury
SUBSTITUTIONS
Lucas Moura (for Harry Winks 66mins) 6.5
Eric Dier (for Moussa Sissoko 74mins)
Fernando Llorente (for Dele Alli 82mins)
SUBSTITUTES NOT USED
Michel Vorm (GK), Paulo Gazzaniga (GK); Davinson Sanchez, Erik Lamela, Victor Wanyama, Kyle Walker-Peters, Juan Foyth, Serge Aurier, Ben Davies
MANAGER
Mauricio Pochettino
Tried to inspire his technical area as Tottenham folded early on. Perhaps delayed too long in bringing on Fernando Llorente. Will argue reaching final still an incredible achievement. 6.5
It wasn The Mauricio Pochettino's night as his Tottenham side went down 2-0 to Liverpool
LIVERPOOL (4-3-3)
Alisson Becker
Handled well but rarely tested in first half. Far busier in the second half and stepped up. Saved well from Moura, Kane, Eriksen and Son late on. 8
Alisson makes an excellent diving save – one of several top class stops in the second-half "class =" blkBorder img-share "/ >
Alisson makes an excellent diving save – one or several top class stops in the second half
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Sent one first-half shot fizzing wide. The game was never too big for him as influenced things at both ends of the pitch. Threatened far more than the Tottenham full-backs. 8
Trent Alexander-Arnold had an excellent evening, influencing events at both ends of the pitch
Joel Matip
Almost booked for hacking down Kane but generally measured and distribution was good. If Klopp had any doubts about picking him ahead or Gomez they soon faded. 7
Virgil van Dijk
One long pass straight out or play earlier on was out of character. Generally bossed a blunt Tottenham attack in the first half and rose to the challenge when they improved second half. 7
Andrew Robertson
Immense once more. Was lucky to avoid yellow for clipping Trip around the face but another game when he looked Europe's best left-back. Got forward to fire one shot which Lloris tipped the ball just over. 8.5 star man
Andrew Robertson was outstanding in the final and proved himself a top class left-back
Jordan Henderson
Inside 20 seconds he'd played his first positive accurate forward pass penalty came from it. Captain's performance just getting under Pochettino's skin when the Tottenham coach lost his temper for a Robertson foul. 6
Fabinho
Helped nullify the threat of Dele Alli and Eriksen between the lines. Not the same drive in the 30 degree heat that we saw against Barcelona but it wasn't needed. 6
Georginio Wijnaldum
No goal heroics this time and was replaced by Milner on the hour. Another on display who was not at his best for final but they'll never forget he got them there. 6
Mohamed Salah
The way he bounced on the balls of his feet a couple of time before smashing the penalty Lloris fits in front of the Tottenham fans suggested he was determined to have a much better night than 12 months ago in Kiev and so it proved. 7
Roberto Firmino
Didn't sparkle in an attack sense but worked hard to come out close down Winks when he tried to play the ball out from the back. Not at his best though and replaced by Origi early in the second half. 6
Sadio Mane
Intensity from first minute as he cleverly won the penalty. A nightmare for Trippier and also found time to make diagonal runs and bother Tottenham center backs. A fine final to a superb season. 8
SUBSTITUTIONS
Divock Origi (for Roberto Firmino 58mins) 7
James Milner (for Georginio Wijnaldum 62mins). SUBSTITUTES NOT USED
Simon Mignolet (GK), Caoimhin Kelleher (GK); Dejan Lovren, Daniel Sturridge, Alberto Moreno, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Xherdan Shaqiri, Rhian Brewster
MANAGER
Jurgen Klopp
Spotted weakest left early in the second half taking off Wijnaldum and Firmino. Had worked his motivational miracle at Anfield, this was easier. 7
REFEREE
Damir Skomina (Slovenia)
Got the penalty right. And spoke to Pochettino calmly at length in first half. Kept his cards in his pockets. 6
