Here is a list of ideas for the Jane Austen fanfic  that I will never write, but would totally read: the Married at first sight AU.

(Mafs is a reality TV concept in which people are paired up by a 'team of experts' (various therapists/psychologists/sociologists and sometimes a priest?), and then (legally) arranged married to a stranger for 5-8 weeks. It has aired for several seasons in several countries, and though most couples have ended up divorce, every now and then it seems to work out for them. It is frequently claimed to be an 'experiment', but the application of the scientific method is sorely lacking)

-not sure if it would be best to mix things up from all the books or try to do a season from each? It's hard to follow any of the plots too closely in a format like this, so probably the former

-Emma would obviously be one of the experts. Knightley would be either one of the other experts or someone else professionally involved in the production  somehow. (BIG DRAMA when Elton halfway through the season tries to hit on Emma when Harriet leaves the room during couples therapy)

-Lady Catherine is the worst expert

-Mrs Gardiner is the best?

-Darcy is pleasantly surprised by his wife and finds her more charming every day. He expresses his feelings through 1. Observing her behaviour, 2. Making assumptions, and 3. Performing small gestures based on these assumptions. Some are based on correct assumptions, and would have been appreciated had Lizzy noticed them. Some are based on incorrect assumptions and they are very much noticed, by a Lizzy who is still trying to figure out how to bring up the fact that they were actually married at second sight, while still being her well-behaved self. (Darcy has no recollection whatsoever of the fact that he insulted his wife in a public place about a year before they were introduced at the altar. Lizzy remembers very well and holds a grudge). Eventually he says something so presumptuous that Lizzy can't hold it in any more and there is yelling and separation and the experts have to give them a letter-writing exercise. 

-Mansfield park... I mean, so many options. All of them lead to divorce.

-Persuasion is a bit tricky... weird reunion season thing with Anne and Wentworth? Or they are paired with other people and old feelings come back when the different couples meet and the one that got away is suddenly there?

-people who would talk about "what they asked for" in confessionals: Sir Walter Elliot, Elizabeth Elliott, Caroline Bingley, Lucy Steele, any Thorpes who might be included, Mr. Collins

-Sir Walter gets paired with Lady Susan, maybe? 

-Wickham is just in it for the Instagram followers. Should have gone on Love Island instead.
