Memories of a Protector

I finally had time to sit down and make some fanart! And of course I’ve had so many good scenes to pull from Memories of a Protector that I’ve been wanting to paint :3 this fanfic has been devastating and I am amazed at how buddy has once again put me on such an emotional rollercoaster on par with For the Forgotten Ones :’)

Currently pondering the notion of how the majority of fictional characters feel more human than humans themselves; yes, it's true that they make mistakes. Yes, it's true that they are flawed. Their decisions can be questionable, poorly thought out, or even seemingly ill-intended. But it's also true that they are more than those shortcomings, those wrongdoings. It's also true that, in that moment, what they did was the right decision to be made given the position they found themselves in. It's also true that what you see on the outside may not match what's on the inside. It's also true that they have learned and grown from what they've experienced in the past and have become better over time. And it's also true that we should've followed that same path and become better ourselves. But no. Instead of learning and growing, we point fingers and begin blaming the innocent for our guilt and shame. This is why I look at my beloved fictional men and say, "I wish I were fictional" instead of "I wish they were real". I wouldn't want them to go through the disappointment of simply looking out the window and know the kind of conflict this generation has procured simply because of their unwillingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
