hmmm 1. I actually have a soft spot for RR villians. I love Adrius ( but MS Adrius was just serial killer mode, after what Nero said in end of GS and all, yay thank you Nero for winning the prize Abysmal father of the year), I respect his mind and the fact he did not let the fact he is physically less strong than his peers to let him down. All I see is this extremally intelligent boy that wanted to be loved by his father( and he was raised by a different family, he might have been different). Honestly I’d love to have a conversation with him. Heck, imagine what could have happened if Nero loved his son, or if Adrius was raised like Mustang from the Telemanuses, or if instead of house Pluto where he eats fellow students, he met real friends? Same goes for Apollonius and Karnus ( now those two probably know the perfect places for a drink).I know a lot of people dont agree on Karnus but he was loyal to his family, despite him disliking Julian, he sounded fun and a bit crazy. I can’t wait to see more of the grandiouse and damn sexy Minotaur, Apollonius au Valii-Rath. 2. Darrow has made a lot of mistakes, but he is human ( and lets be honest, nobody around him had a better idea, and everybody looked at him to do the job) but actually in IG, I don’t find mistakes. I sometimes feel people expect him to be a miracle maker or something. I have made several posts on why I believe Darrow was right, at least on the key decisions in IG. Also they all say he is a bad father ( which I can argue as well if you want to) 3 Fitchner is the underapreciated hero in these books. Everybody keeps calling Sevro, Ares but lets be honest, Sevro is no Ares, we all saw what Sevro did in MS ( he acted like a terrorist,with all the bombings, no lack of strategy and all), Sevro is the leader of the Howlers, Howler 2 after Darrow, brilliant fighter, great friend, but his father is Ares - everything in these books happen because Fitchner was a master strategist, planner and all of this took years of work to get to the point where Darrow was carved), He spied on Octavia for months, if not a year. Also,( cause I am rereading the books) I noticed , Fitchner uses metabolisers to help him loose weight and quite often puts his hands over his belly as if to hide it ( despite the fact his has just a small beer pouch and he is obviously fit since for the place of the Rage Knight he defeated Apollonius au Valii-Rath and Proctor Jupiter), which means despite his i don’t care attitude FItcher is bothered and insecure about his weight and how his body looks which makes my husband even more precious and worthy of being show just how amazing he is.SO our beloved Sevro, despite my amazing love for him is not Ares, he just keeps the title so the symbol does not disappear. 4. Despite Aja killing off one of my top 10 faves, I dont hate her. She was loyal to a point to Octavia and i prize loyalty. For her Ragnar and everybody else were enemies to the person she was most loyal to. And just as Sevro would do this for Darrow, Aja did so for Octavia. 5. I really love Mustang however I don’t think dating and manipulating Cassius was nesessary for her spying since was already part of Octavia’s inner circle, it just seemed a bit like a petty way of revenge on the Bellonas ( mimicking Nero dating Iona, Tiberius’s sister). HOWEVER, this doesn’t diminish my respect and admiration towards her immense intellect and skill instrategy.

My guest on today’s podcast is Sheryl Rowling. Sheryl is the founder of Rowling and Associates, an independent advisory firm in southern California that manages more than $300 million of assets under management, and provides a combination of investment management, financial planning, and tax preparation services for clients.
What’s unique about Sheryl, though, is not simply that she’s built a successful advisory firm with a team of 12, but that in an effort to try and make her firm’s investment management process more efficient, she decided to create her own rebalancing software… and then sell it to other financial advisors as the software solution we now know to be Total Rebalance Expert, or TRX, which was subsequently acquired just a few years ago by Morningstar.
In this episode, Sheryl talks about what it was like building a technology firm (while running her advisory firm as well!), how building an advisor technology firm differs from building a traditional advisory firm, the challenging demands of needing to iterate rapidly in a competitive software landscape, and the personal toll that it takes in trying to simultaneously run both an advisory firm and an advisor technology firm at the same time.
