Prompt 3 - Risk
@jegulus-microfic February 3, Word count 765
Previous part First part
James instinctively moved Regulus behind him.
“It is too late, Mr Potter, I have already seen Mr Black. The younger Mr Black, Sirius,” McGonagall said in exasperation. “I take it the Mr Blacks were duelling? Her Scottish accent thickened as she began to reprimand them. James looked between the two brothers. He knew they’d end up in detention for at least a month, and McGonagall would write to their parents. Regulus would be in danger if Walburga ever found out that not only had Regulus been fraternising with Sirius and Sirius’s friends, and he was also in Gryffindor Tower. James squeezed Regulus’s arm as he worried about what would happen. Regulus zapped him with a stinging hex. He yelped but let go of Regulus’s arm. He needed to stop McGonagall. He took a risk and cleared his throat.
“We were dancing,” She quirked an eyebrow at him, and he swore he saw the corner of her mouth twitch as though she was trying to repress a smile. “Sirius got a new record, and we got a bit too into it. Show her Sirius,” James urged him. Sirius’s eyes darted to Regulus and James pleaded with him internally to just go with it.
“Yeah, Professor, Andromeda got it for me,” He picked up a record sleeve for the record on the record player. James just managed to make out the title on the front. It was David Bowie’s Hunky Dory. He blew out a breath that one had changes on, and he and Sirius had already had Mary burst through the door, firing hexes at them with just them dancing around wildly to it. “We were listening to Changes, and well, we were really feeling it. We won’t do it again, promise,” She narrowed her eyes at him. She’d always had a soft spot for Sirius. James hoped Sirius could charm her this time as well.
“And would anybody care to explain why Mr Black is not in his own dorm?” That one stumped them.
“Inter-house cooperation,” Peter piped up.
“Excuse me?” Professor McGonagall asked, just as shocked as the rest of them.
“Well, we noticed that the divide between the Slytherins and the rest of the school was increasing because of the war, and we thought it would be a good thing to try and fix that by fixing the relationship between Sirius and Regulus. Regulus is up here because of the retaliation he may receive from not only his parents and other relations, but also some members of Slytherin may not take kindly to Regulus bringing the four of us into their common room after all the pranks we have pulled on them in the past,” Everyone blinked slowly at Peter as they absorbed his well-thought-out words.
“Very well,” McGonagall nodded tersely. “Mr Black, I shall escort you back to the Dungeons. As for you three, I suggest you spend the remainder of the evening in less disruptive activities. Mr Black, I shall wait for you outside the portrait. Do not make me have to come back up here,” She gave them one of her ‘do not test me looks' and swept from the room.
“Thank you,” He said to Sirius. Sirius gave him a crooked smile and a cheeky wink before ushering Remus into the bathroom. The shower turned on and then a void of silence blocked out whatever it was they were doing in there.
“Thank you,” Regulus said, recapturing his attention. Regulus grabbed his chin and pulled him down for a kiss. “Can I have the cloak, so I can sneak back up?” He asked and James scrambled to find it, hoping McGonagall would wait just a minute longer.
“Bye, love,” James called after him as Regulus raced down the spiral staircase, the front of his robes protruding slightly from where he’d stuffed the cloak. “Well that could have been worse,” James said, trying to lighten the mood.
“Speak for yourself,” Peter squeaked as he yanked his bed curtains over to show James the smouldering hole in the red material.
“Sorry, Pete, I’ll fix them for you,” James moved to stand beside Peters's bed and tried to remember what spell his mum used to mend fabric. He waved his wand, and the curtains vanished. “Er, maybe you can use Sirius’s as he won’t be needing them. Peter made a long, suffering sigh and went to get the curtains from around Sirius’s abandoned bed himself. Not trusting James not to vanish another set. James went to wait on his bed, wondering how long it would take Regulus to get back up there.

Lukercy GLAB Au
Okay, we all know (/headcanon) that Percy shares and uncanny resemblance to his grandmother. So I'm just imagining Percy in the midst of talking to his father when the girls were like three and Andromeda toddles up to him "...Mama?"
"Hm?"
"You so bootiful!"
Percy snorts before lifting her up and putting her on his hip. "Thank you"
"Am I bootiful mama?"
"Oh one of the most beautiful girls in the inter world—inter universe even!"
And then he notices that Poseidon's gotten really still and really quiet.
"Dad? You alright?"
"Fine you just—...You look like your grandmother"

Krypton: Factoids and Neat Things to Know!
Located in the nearby Andromeda Galaxy, specifically in the Rao system, Krypton was a cold, icy, crystalline planet. Fifth from its sun, most life existed in the habitable zone of its equator, which was always closest to the sun. This also meant that seasons did not occur the same way as on Earth, where the tilt of our axis causes the Northern and Southern Hemispheres to be further or closer to the sun depending on where we are in our orbit. Rather, Krypton’s orbit itself was slightly off kilter, meaning that while its axis was perfectly vertical, it would still experience colder and warmer months of its years depending on where in its orbit it was.
The summers there ranged from 60° to 70° at its warmest, and -10° to -20° during the coldest of the winter months. Further North or South of the habitable zone would mean even harsher, colder temperatures, and were generally only explored during the summer.
Krypton had two large continents—Lurvan, and Urrika—as well as several other smaller continents/islands like Vathlo. By the time the planet had neared its end, both continents had united under their own form of central leadership, with relatively peaceful ties between the two.
They were a Level 6 Star Faring race, and had dedicated much time, money, and resources into exploring the galaxy and inventing new technologies. They had made contact with the Green Lantern Corps decades before, had established contact with their neighbouring planet, Thoron, beginning trade with them, had made breakthrough after breakthrough with medicine and state-of-the-art technology, and had even been made a part of the Inter-Planetary Coalition (IPC). They had established contact and ties with many other planets, had set up minor colonies among the stars, and so much more.
Also, due to the fact that red suns send out WAY more radiation than yellow suns, Kryptonians are naturally able to absorb radiation, thus allowing them to fly and shoot lasers, etc. On Earth, Clark’s powers are actually WEAKER if you can believe it. Spiking in the summer, quelling in the winter.
As far culture goes, I haven’t written a whole lot yet, however, do not go making the assumption that they were a peaceful, all-knowing, always-do-gooding advanced race just because their technology is advanced. Like on Earth, there are layers. There was a gross amount of entertainment, mass media, disparity between the richest and the poorest, tons of struggles and problems that we humans know all too well. But, one main difference between them and, say, the United States, is that they had a much more structured system for their society. What I mean is, they leaned into classism a bit, and there were a ton of noble families still, the Els being one of them, children were taught to be well behaved and respectful, etc etc. it was all very upper crust. At least… among the upper crust. Elsewhere, different systems prevailed. At any rate, it’s very complicated and I need to dedicate some time to writing it out thoroughly.
Thank you for your time.

✨WLW Wed: Inter-House Relationships✨
A monthly HP femslash rec list made by the lovely members of the HP SAFFICS (18+) discord server. See all previous rec lists in the WLW Library.
This months rec list focuses on relationships between characters sorted into different Howarts houses
⭐Long (>10k)⭐
Fistful of Fire by TowardTheStars [Bellatrix/Lily, M, 20.7k]
Like a flame, Lily Evan's hair dances in the wind, and Bella's dancing in the shadow of its ash.
a red rose grew up out of ice frozen ground by piesofrage [Hermione/Pansy, M, 315.8k]
The only thing that can take Hermione's mind off of how much she loathes her repugnant Potions partner are the notes from her mysterious pen pal. And as for Pansy? She just wants to find a way to cast a permanent Silencio on Granger, and to reply to the charming stranger on the other end of her magical parchment. (aka the Pansmione "You've Got Mail" AU)
swallow some of their history by basketofnovas [Bellatrix/Hermione, M, 103k]
A clash in the Time Room in the Department of Mysteries sends Hermione back in time thirty-three years, from 1996 to 1963. There, she's forced to contend with a drastically different pre-war Wizarding World where blood-based prejudice and rigid class structures rule the day, and maybe worse, Bellatrix Black as a classmate. But getting involved with Bellatrix Black in any capacity means dealing with her family's problems, too.
Brave Open Heart by agentmoppet, maraudersaffair, SoldSeparately [Hermione/Pansy, Hermione/Millicent, E, 28k + art]
Nine months ago, Hermione and Millicent had a passionate affair, but it ended with Millicent breaking Hermione’s heart. Now, Hermione is in love with Pansy, and they are a power couple fighting for creature equality in the Ministry. Everything comes crashing down when Hermione discovers she is pregnant and Millicent is the other mother. Hermione had no idea two witches could create life, but now she must answer some big questions about parenthood, intimacy, and love.
⭐Medium (3k-10k)⭐
The Necklace by anonymouse5 [Marlene/Dorcas, T, 4.3k]
"Meadowes. You make jewelry," she says. Yes, Dorcas does. It's quite the news around Hogwarts, since she makes trinkets, puts spells on them, the works. She even made actual, working, mood rings which are very popular amongst Muggleborn students. But McKinnon doesn't need to tell her this; she already knows. "I do," Dorcas confirms anyway.
Votum Non Oblitum by nightwitchy [Alice/Narcissa, T, 5.7k ongoing]
It started with a name. A whisper. A challenge. Narcissa Black was used to admiration, to being seen—but not by her. Not by Alice Fortescue. And maybe if things had been different, if they had been born into another life, this could have ended another way. But the world they live in isn’t kind to love like theirs. And some endings are written long before the story even begins.
Inkling by neilistic [Hermione/Pansy, E, 9.2k]
Hermione is trying to navigate post-war life as a post-closet lesbian. Unfortunately, she finds out that meeting women is hard, and meeting witches is impossible. It certainly doesn’t help that anyone who learns Hermione flies for the other team only ever has one thing to ask her; four words that drive her absolutely spare. “Have you met Pansy?”
Prodigal Daughters by QueenOfStormySkies [Hermione/Andromeda, T, 3.9k]
Hermione doesn’t quite know what to do with herself, after everything. Then Andromeda steps into her life.
A Fistful of Miracles by pangaeaseas [Narcissa/Lily, T, 3.2k]
Narcissa doesn't make a grand exit from the Black Family. She vanishes. Why? Well, you'll have to ask Lily Evans.
Dances, Dulcimers and Marginalia Dragons by Gehayi [Helga/Rowena, G, 7k]
Helga knew, even before Hogwarts was founded, that teaching "the rest" was important.
The Narcissus and the Lilium by sujing [Narcissa/Lily, M, 6.5k]
When two flowers meet. In two parts. In which Lily is a fairy with tiger lilies for wings.
Looking For A Complication by The_wig_is_a_metaphor [Narcissa/Ginny, M, 7.9k]
"Mother, when I said you should get out more," Draco shouts, "I did not mean you should have an illicit affair with a scandalously younger woman!"
self-made by onewhodiedyoung [Cho/Ginny, T, 3.3k]
For the first time ever, it occurs to Ginny that just like Cho is always going to be the one who cried, she herself will always be the one who didn’t, even though she did and did and did, choking on tears and smashing plates, trying to yell Fred back to life and scream Tom Riddle out of her head. She wonders if, were she to release a Snitch into the air, Cho would catch it first. She wonders if she herself would even bother. Ginny, destroying herself into being.
Rogue Waves by lq_traintracks [Pansy/Ginny, E, 6.5k]
A story of living with the trauma, fucking who you want, and maybe finding a little solace.
⭐Short (<3k)⭐
Pearls by TrueStoriesSeldomHaveEndings [Alice/Narcissa, G, 1.7k]
Narcissa is about to get married to Lucius, but she's too busy ripping off the pearls that were sewn to her wedding dress. Will she find the courage to go back to her true love?
The alchemy by moonsflowerr [Luna/Ginny, G, 1.5k]
This was it. The last match of the year. The last match of her final year. Or Ginny being quite a mess whenever Luna is around.
Bound to Shadows by black_promises [Bellatrix/Molly, T, 1.6k]
Why do I feel so lost, Aunt Walburga? Why does the darkness consume me? Walburga, her face softened by the flickering flames, looked at her with a mixture of sadness and understanding. "We all have our demons, Bella. Yours are just louder than most."
Lit Match by Phantomato [Alecto/Lily, E, 1.9k]
Redheads should stick together.
take me, i dare you (orphaned work) [Bellatrix/Marlene, T, 1k]
Bellatrix Lestrange doesn’t fall in love with blood traitors but Marlene McKinnon is tempting the voices inside her head.
Taken by the Mountains by thistlecat [Bellatrix/Marlene, E, 2.9k]
Marlene was just supposed to get intel on Bellatrix in London. So why is Bellatrix naked in her arms in a marble mine in Norway? And why oh why is Marlene thinking about kissing her?

Here we have Dib's love interest, inspired by an OC I created when I was a kid. Out of nostalgia, I decided to create her.
Some extra facts about her:
Her full name is "Andromeda," but she's called "Andi" as a diminutive.
She lives with her father, Kafka, who created his own company called "Osmosis Industries."
Since the emergence of Osmosis Industries, Membrane has felt a bit threatened, as his ego was somewhat affected by seeing a single person achieve more quickly what he had done his entire life.
Membrane is somewhat envious of Professor Osmosis, as he seems to have more attention from investors and more fans since his appearance.
Andi doesn't attend the same school as Dib.
Andi and Dib met at a science convention, where Dib was accompanying her father.
Dib has never met someone who didn't make fun of him for believing in aliens. Andi is very patient with him and his obsession, and believes him completely.
Their relationship is similar to that of Candace and Jeremy from Phineas and Ferb (Dib is Candace and Andi is Jeremy).
Dib often acts nervous around her, but little by little he will warm up to her.
Andi is one of the few people who doesn't judge or make fun of Dib for his passion.
They're not actually humans. They're actually aliens from a planet on the other side of the galaxy called "Marsumt."
Their species is very similar to humans, but with some biological differences.
Their species, called "Masumians," has much more advanced technology than Earth's, about 100 years ahead of its time.
Their main energy sources are "ectoplasm," a substance found only in ghosts and psychic energies on Earth.
Their bones, unlike humans, are composed of iron and not calcium, which makes them more resistant.
Marsumians have tails, although Andi and her father hide them.
All Marsumians have grey eyes.
The reason Andi and her father are on Earth is because of a transportation accident. Trapped on Earth and using Earth's technology, they'll will try to return to their planet, although this will take longer than expected, as Earth's technology is less advanced than that of the Masumians.
------------------------

Teddy Lupin picrew dump because I'm in love with him.

I love to imagine him with pink or magenta eyes because it connects him to Tonks, but I also have this image of him having eyes that are in constant motion, always changing and never settling on one solid color, to show the internal chaos he battles with. I think he keeps his hair generally a solid blue because he likes the way it looks, and because his nan told him that his hair turned blue almost immediately after he was born, so a tiny piece of him is always thinking "well if it's blue my parents will recognize me" even though he knows they're gone and that's not gonna happen.
((Read more to see Cursed rambling about metamorph abilities ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ))
I have this theory about Metamorph abilities that's basically summed up as being a mutation of the individuals magic itself. It's born from decades of interfamilial inbreeding of a family that already has extremely powerful magic.
I see Metamorphmagus being in the same family of mutation as Obscurus, that being something uncontrollable that happens due to some form of magical backup. The only difference is Obscurus are psychologically self-made while Metamorphmagus are created genetically.
I've seen theories stating that House Black inter-marries because they're worried about their ancient magic being somehow corrupted by other family's blood. It basically said that the Black family has power/magic that lives up to its name, and I kind of love that, but power like that can't possibly come without consequences, and in their attempt to keep the purity of their magic from being corrupted, they themselves became corrupted by their magic.
I mean the way I see it, ancient magic like that has to be chaotic and untamable, something incredibly feral and wild. The more "pure" it is, the more uncontrollable.
Because of that, I think Andromeda marrying and having a child with a muggleborn more or less stabilized the Black family magic in a body far more capable of containing it. But the magic itself is still extremely volatile, so it manifested as metamorph abilities, and I think that in itself would have some unique manifestations.
I think Teddy is immune to most magical ailments, including hexes and curses. His body kind of just deflects it because his magic is able to cancel it out. I think that's probably why Remus' Lycanthropy also passed him over.
At the same time, I think he's pretty susceptible to Muggle illnesses like the flu or the common cold, and I've always headcanoned that he had chronic migraines because though the Lycanthropy disease was fended off through his mutated magic, it's still an insanely brutal illness in and of itself, and some piece of it lingers in him. So around the full moon he tends to get migraines. Proof that he's not invincible I guess.
I have so many thoughts about Teddy tbh, he's always been outrageously powerful in my mind, and the only reason his magic hasn't consumed him and driven him crazy like so many of the Black family is because he isn't a pureblood. It makes him even more formidable as an enemy, though I don't see him being super aware of his own abilities.
Like he knows he's an alright wizard, he just doesn't realize he's THAT powerful, cuz why would he??

I heard that adopting a child in Ancient greece means you lost chastity , is this true?
I must admit I don't know too much about this subject, but the idea of adoption equating chastity sounds either like misinformation, or a fact that was misformulated on the Internet.
Back in Ancient Greece children (especially male heirs) were considered very important, and the safeguarding of the household was perceived as a basic unit of society at that time. By extension, if a married couple was uncapable of producing children, adoption was taken into account as well, though it certainly wasn't always easy nor convenient. The greek word for adoption is huiothesia, which mot-a-mot means "placing as a son". There were three main types of adoption in Ancient Greece:
Inter Vivos: The term still exists, although nowdays it specifically refers to a transfer or gift during one's lifetime;
Testamentary;
Someone could've became the next inheritor of a deceased person's household or one of his descendants by adressing the archon;
Though I'm pretty sure that the act of taking a child that is not biologically related to you and raising it as your own existed long before it became legitimized (take Oedipus as an example).
Adoption as a theme exists in Greek Mythology as well, especially in some of Euripides' plays.
Captive Melanippe, a play that nowdays survives only in fragments, has Queen Siris and King Metapontus adopting Melanippe's twin sons before she was able to offer her own male heirs to her husband. At the same time their slave birth seems to be an issue, as are a childless father's adoption of sons and a husband's conflict with a wife if superior rank.
Another play where this subject might have been included as well is Andromeda, where we get this line:
"I forbid the acquiring of illegitimate sons. Though in no way inferior to legitimate ones, they are handicapped by convention, and this is something you must beware of."
We don't know who nor in what context these words was said. This might've been either Cepheus telling Andromeda not to bear a stranger's bastards (though 'acquiring' is a word that would've been unlikely used in this case), or Cassiopeia, who only gave birth to one daughter, discouraging her husband from adopting a son.
The play Erechtheus follows a similar discussion between the eponym character and Praxithea.
Having children was considered a further, essential step into maturizing and becoming an adult in society, similarly with how nowdays finishing high school or having a job is considered a high achievement. Not saying that choosing not to have kids is something bad; it's just that people back then didn't know any better, lol.

Irritatingly Competent
Irritatingly Competent https://ift.tt/FY8MGc0 by Crazybooklady Hermione is working on a very strange project. A house that is full of curses, traps, and strange happenings. It is owned by the ministry and her boss, Bill Weasley, as head of the Department of Mysteries makes the decision to hire an outside contractor. An expert in structural magic. Much to Hermione's surprise and dismay, this expert is Draco Malfoy. Most surprising of all perhaps is that he shows up on a motorcycle, covered in tattoos, and listening to rock music. She thought she knew who he was, but he continues to surprise her as they work together. Reacquainting themselves with their friends after some distance, only to find that their friend groups have merged right under their noses. It doesn't take long for the tension to build between them. You know how you daydream about your little fictional characters before falling asleep? Just imagining your little guys in scenarios?
Last night I had an idea I can’t stop thinking about, so I’mma write it down to get it out of my system.
Imagine if somehow instead of Harry, Draco was the one who survived the Avada Kedavra and became the Chosen One.
I don’t know how or why… Perhaps Voldemort grew paranoid and attacked even his most loyal followers, including the Malfoys, but Narcissa’s love protected the baby just like Lily’s in the canon. In any case, the Malfoys are dead, Voldemort is defeated, and baby Draco is the Boy Who Lived.
Just imagine - orphan Draco is taken in by Andromeda and Ted Tonks. He loves his uncle Sirius and his husband Remus.
Little Harry grows up with his parents, and through his godfather, makes fast friends with Draco.
Draco knows what happened to his parents, knows about the Dark wizard he unknowingly destroyed as a baby, but thinks blood purity is bullshit - just look at his stepfather Ted, or his best friend’s mom Lily.
Draco is still sorted into Slytherin, but everyone knows that is not an indication that you are evil, or dark, or cruel. He remains close with Harry and even befriends a young Weasley and a bushy-haired, annoyingly smart Muggleborn witch.
When Bellatrix escapes Azkaban, Draco has to come to terms with his biological family’s role in the first wizarding war.
By the time Voldemort returns, he is ready to fight him with the help of his inter-house group of friends…

Never Fade Away
THIS IS A VERY LONG POST with big spoilers in both words and pictures for Cyberpunk 2077!
But it's also all my feels about a playthrough that's taken me many months and almost 300 hours to complete.
----
I played Cyberpunk 2077 on release. As I said in this "Games I played in 2021" post, which is a thing I wish I'd remembered to do every year, I loved it. That said, it probably wouldn't have cracked my top 10 or maybe even 20 favorite games ever, but I thought it was amazing, right out of the box. I ran into a couple of bugs, like couldn't complete the Delamain questline, and definitely agreed with some popular opinions about the game that parts of it didn't seem quite done, I had a couple of crashes and times I had to reload from something weird happening, but playing on PC I didn't have a lot of the problems console players did apparently.
It very much felt to me like another Andromeda situation -- another game that needed another couple of months to finish ironing a couple of bugs out but was mostly a victim of its own over-anticipaiton and overhyped-edness by the fanboys (and girls.)
That said, when I finished it I set it aside to wait for major updates before I'd pick it up again.
So last fall when it's one and only DLC, Phantom Liberty finally released, it was right around when the BG3 hype was happening so BG3 came first. But I kept having to wait for mods to update after patches dropped, so during one of these breaks I went and started playthrough #2 of Cyberpunk 2077.
My first time through I was a Nomad, so to mix it up this time I went Corpo. I really enjoyed Corpo a lot more and thought it had some much cooler interactions than Nomad ever gave me. Although, I thought the introduction and subsequent friendship with Jackie felt more natural with Nomad.
There were several goals I had going in to this playthrough.
Different origin - check.
Send Jackie's body to Mama Welles -- with no spoilers from my first run, I thought sending the body to Vik to work on first would be the most logical choice and either he could help Jackie or at least get him interred properly so Jackie's mom WOULDN'T HAVE TO BE TRAUMATIZED by her son's body just showing up. Guess that was the wrong choice and it was way too late to change once I found that out. So yeah, start things off right with Mama.
Complete the Delamain quest now that the showstopper bug a LOT of people ran into was fixed. (Didn't mention it later, but check!)
Find all the Hidden Gems
Pick a different ending.
Install cool mods to enhance things without breaking the game.
Generally, just do everything. Except maybe the Sinnerman questline. (I aborted halfway through and didn't regret it.)
Understand the main storyline in ways that had confused the hell out of me the first time around.
High quality Screenshots screenshots screenshots screenshots screenshots.
So with 1 checked off, I decided before advancing the main storyline much, I'd try to raise my fame level a bit and also just let Jackie live for awhile.
I did some research and landed on installing the Welcome to Night City mod collection. It's well researched, well maintained, the creator is really responsive, and has a Discord with a well supported community. Importantly for me, it also didn't have any "sexy" mods, just great gameplay tweaks, fixes, customizable on how much harder/easier it made the game, and added a lot of flavor and experience but felt like everything just worked in the background. Also since I have a Premium Nexus Mods experience, the install and upgrades were very, very easy. I didn't do the upgraded CyberpunkTHING experience, since it makes the game harder. I was here for a good time.
(And yes, I endorsed every mod in the collection!)
Honestly it added so many things that I'm sure there was a ton of stuff I just experienced thinking that that's just how the game was now, but it was a part of a seamlessly integrated mod collection.
I'll definitely use this mod pack again the next time I play. But also I didn't install ANY other mods really for a very long time, and I now really wish that I had. But we'll get to that.
I also installed several other graphics mods on my own, like a high-res skin for River (and the... shall we say... anti-Kendoll mod for him lol) and like, this mod (and several others from that author) that tones down the hypersexuality of the ads in the game. I realized early on that they don't bother me in-game -- it totally fits the aesthetic and tone of the game! But also I didn't want all that in screenshots that I will have rotating on my desktop for years (shoutout to DisplayFusion) and would have the possibility of like, my AC guy or my neighbors kids having to see as my Office is my living room (and my living room is the smallest bedroom of my house).
I did a lot of the gigs in Watson before advancing the main storyline so I'd have an OK character for storming stuff this time. I recently found a list of places Johnny talks in early Watson jobs to avoid doing early next time:
Side Job: Losing My Religion (where you have to free the monk from Maelstrom)
Fixer Gig: Backs Against the Wall (recover stolen medicine from veteran)
Fixer Gig: Scrolls before Swine (get the CCTV footage for the cop, only if you watch before downloading)
So you can do all NCPD hustles, the first 10 Fixer gigs and and all side jobs except Losing My Religion without losing out on any of the Johnny experience.
Leaving that there for next time. Anyway, it feels like it makes more sense to get this chance at the big gig when you have some experience, and can pretend you and Jackie were living life together a little while longer. Next playthrough -- use AMM to take some hanging out with Jackie screenshots early on.
---
Eventually I advanced the main storyline enough and finished the Heist, and was able to check #2 off my list. Loved not getting yelled at by Mama Welles this time. And felt with the added time that I had a right to be doing this -- still extremely stupid in retrospect -- gig. But it was more fun have tools to deal with the hotel guards this time.
Knowing who Takemora was and meeting Johnny again were really enhanced by knowing what the fuck was going on the second time around. Keanu really knocks it out of the park when you finally really understand the character.
Though I hate the early adversarial feeling between him and V, I get it a lot more now. Watching the relationship grow is really worth it.
---
I wasn't invited to Jackie's memorial the first time. So getting to go the second time and help repair Misty and Mama Wells' relationship was great, and I really loved getting to know Jackie better by picking out something for the funeral at his garage, and the added time with Misty.
---
I told myself I'd do a different spec than stealth-hacker. I was wrong. I still did that. I love using Contagion and Overheat to take enemies out non-lethally while crouched behind something nearby. The ones that really deserve it get a shot from Skippy later.
Yeah, as soon as lockdown was over I hightailed it down to Valentino's territory and then headed back to Watson / Japantown. I gave Skippy up as late as possible, when he was outliving his usefulness. I got him back as fast as I could, but I miss his voice. I miss his quips.
After that when I needed a weapon I mostly used the Arasaka experimental smart SMG. IDK, I just liked the feeling of stealing shit from Arasaka and using it to fuck up their own people whenever possible. But again, I didn't shoot weapons much anyway.
---
I spent so, so much time just driving around taking pictures of my cars and the amazing ways the light looked while driving through the city. I absolutely fell in love with the aesthetics of the city, every part of it, over and over again. I posted a few photosets. There are more in the queue. There are so many screenshots I didn't use.

Like, honestly out of everything I love about this game just... looking at it is maybe my favorite thing. There's so much to see, all of the time, everywhere. Your eyes can never take it all in. I'll be in a place I've been a dozen times and still find new awesome things to look at. I just can't describe how much I enjoy just... looking at this game.
I never fast travel anywhere -- except out of the Megabuilding 10 apartment. I took the metro a few times just to sit back and relax watching the scenery go by but normally I just drive everywhere.
Jackie's Arch and the Porche 911 (and its variant in the bottom screenshot) are my favorite vehicles. Bikes for maneuverability, but also likewise the Porche has better handling than a bike while still being really easy to weave through traffic in.
Night City is one of the few locations in any video game I've ever played that TRULY feels like it could be a real place. Every neighborhood is distinct. Though there are some familiar things, one Captain Caliente doesn't look like every other one. You'll see a few of the same signs around, there are some generic small building structures but where it makes sense. Yeah there's a few monolithic Arasaka buildings but of course they would be. How efficient. The megabuildings are similar, but different enough. It feels like every detail of the world was crafted so carefully. There's so much beauty even in the ugly bits.

I never want to stop looking at it, or screenshotting it. I just love the city so much.
I'm going to run out of screenshot space on this post.
---
I romanced River again. Look, I'm a basic primarily het romancer in video games. I love Judy, she's amazing, but River ticks my boxes -- the Paladin archetype who gives it all up to do the right thing even when it costs him.
I hate that he's the most undercooked of all the companions plot and time-wise. But there were some huge improvements this time. All the companions had gotten extra text message interactions. A fun little quest that added a bit more content in PL. They Really Want To Stay at Your House! And along with that, amazing mods are now available to make those things even better. (River Romanced Enhanced, the Really Want To Stay At Your House and Romance Interactions Enhanced mods)
Around the mid-point in game after seeing some amazing photosets on my desktop, I got brave and installed Appearance Mod Menu and a bunch of other pose and photomode mods that go along with it. Also some outfit mods for River. And then things really got cooking screenshot wise.
Even though it took a lot of effort to set this stuff up and to get poses to work right sometimes, I got to feel like River and my V went out and had real dates on the town.

Also sometimes... we just uh... stayed in.
There's so many photos that won't ever make it to tumblr. And so many more sets I want to take.
Well, that's what reloading old saves is for.
You'll see some of these screenshots again, or have before. I have a lot of things queued that will pop up... sometime. I like to surprise myself with my own photosets. :D
---
I finally installed the Virtual Atleir and started modding in outfits a little while after doing AMM, was trying to install things in waves as to not break too much. I got a few crashes here and there, but not as many as I was worried about, after installing stuff on top of Welcome to Night City.
I kind of regret waiting so long to do Virtual Atlier and clothing mods but also not. I think I manually collected like 95% or more of all the ingame clothing. I still stop by clothing stores but they usually have nothing new for me, or just things like... masks that I never use. There's such a huge variety of clothes already in the game that I didn't get to build a lot of outfits around pieces that I love. I made a whole post of ingame-outfits I made and love!
And there's one in the queue somewhere of modded-in outfits, too. Not even all of them.
Cyberpunk 2077 is the ultimate Dress-up my dolls and make them kiss game, and I may never stop playing that aspect of it.
---
Hey speaking of Kerry Eurodyne, I love him. And Panam. And Judy. And Vik. and Claire. And Misty. And Rogue. And the rest of Samurai (Well, I chose Denny and always will.) The only thing I don't love is how it feels like you still don't get enough time with any of them, except MAYBE Panam.
I would love to be able to space out all of their missions even more. I try to put as much space in between the companion missions as possible, but this time it backfired on me a little because i crammed Judy's stuff in way later in the game than I should have, around when I was doing Kerry's stuff. When all of the main quest and most of the side quest stuff was done. And we all know that we don't get Kerry until way too late anyway. But doing Panam's stuff happened so long ago that sometimes I'd just drive out to see the Aldecados and hang out for a day because I missed them. (And, as you can see in the River screenshot above, I "brought him along" to introduce him tot he family once or twice.)
I have a great photoset in the queue of all the main characters hanging out at the Corpo apartment together I can't wait to come up someday. Not posting a preview screenshot here.
Except I forgot Claire. It took me like an hour to set that scene up and now I'm thinking about doing it all again to include Claire.
Anyway, mostly I just want to say that aside from just loving River, I love them all and don't want to leave them behind either.
Or the Fixers. Or Reed. But we'll get to Phantom Liberty.
---
Just one more quick stop here to talk about the music.
I installed the Improved Radio Continued mod and wow it really enhanced the music experience for me.
I am a 98.7 Body Heat gal, with a flip to Pacific Dreams when Ponpon Shit or History would play, but loved about half the new music on Growl FM. It took some finagling, but Improved Radio let me make my own custom radio station with JUST the songs I wanted. So it's a mash of those three stations, without the songs I disliked. (There's one on Pacific Dreams, the REALLY long one that has the interlude of someone saying the same word over and over really slowly? That one... ughghgh) and that was amazing. There's a handful of songs from other stations I liked too, that got added in. And, I'm sorry, no Us Cracks allowed. I love them as characters, still hate their music.
What I didn't expect was to really fall in love with the music of Samurai this time around. Like, I knew I should have the first time but I didn't put effort into listening to them since metal isn't my usual vibe. But it IS my brother's, at least when we were in High School and College, so I listened to it a lot back then and there are still metal songs I do like.
So this time I put all the Samaurai songs in my playlist and holy shit I fell in love with them.
A couple of weeks ago I was driving to visit my parents IRL and the entire way up there I just listened to the Samurai songs on repeat. I'm a big fan now, thanks second playthrough.
----
So, Phantom Liberty was the big reason for the new playthrough. Let's talk about it.
I absolutely LOVE Dogtown. oh, Pacifica, but worse? Amazing. So much new stuff to see, and do. I loved exploring every nook and cranny.
It added SO MUCH to the game, I can't imagine playing the game without it. I didn't even go to there until I was like 2/3rds of the way through the rest of the content and I wish I'd spread it out EVEN MORE.
I will say that I thought some of the main quests were a bit long. I felt myself itching to get out and go do something else throughout some of the long sessions like basically having to do most of the stuff with the President in one big long chain, though it made sense. I loved those quests, though! And I think I'll like them even more on a subsequent playthrough some day.
The only part I really did not like at all in Phantom Liberty was -- ok look I made the choice to side with Reed the entire way. It's Idris fucking Elba okay, I have loved him since The Wire. And I absolutely understand why Songbird did what she did, and what she would have done if I'd have sided with her. And maybe I will next time. But this time, I was all in on Reed -- though I didn't become an Agent for the NUSA, fuck that. And I gave Songbird her final wish. Because again, fuck the NUSA.
But oh man, that last quest? With that FUCKING ROBOT following you around the base at the end, that is an instakill if it finds you? FUUUUUUCK that. It was so frustrating that I stopped playing for over a month because every time I thought about going back into the game to finish that my head wanted to explode.
Eventually I watched a couple of Youtube videos and read a couple of articles about exactly where to go and how to hide from it.
Look, I love exploring, I love taking my time, I love making sure I explore everything and miss nothing. That fucking robot harshed my gaming style so much. No regrets about cheating my way through that part. Zero. I made it through with only dying to it one more time and got the fuck out of there. I was also glad to see in the comments of the video I watched and articles I read that I was very much not alone in that opinion. I might side with Songbird at least most of the way to the end in future playthroughs JUST to never have to do that base again.
Otherwise, though, Phantom Liberty was a triumph. I want a mod that makes the Dogtown apartment not shit but also not luxury, and then I want to just stay there a long time.
----
So, I'm almost done with the game.
I installed two Hidden Gems mods that turn the easy-to-miss stuff into Fixer (and Ronald in Dogtown) quests and LOVED THEM. I wanted to see and do it all. And I did. I'm done with that. It took me many more hours of gameplay to get through all of that. Worth it.
In my playthrogh, River is waiting for me at my Megabuilding apartment to spend one more night together.
And then I'm calling Panam and having the Aldecados come help me storm Arasaka.
Last time I had Rogue help, and to be honest, I feel like that's still the right choice. Rogue helped start this. She should help end it.
But one of my goals was to do more things different. And to be honest, I hate the endings, so much.
It's not that I necessarily think there should be a happy ending for V. But I think that the game should let us help make sure other people have happier endings.
So here's the thing. V is richer than like 95% of Night City by the end of the game. She's got like six apartments, at least a dozen cars even if you don't buy many at the car store, My V still has like 8 million eddies.
I don't care what the game says.
In my game, V went to a financial lawyer.
V set up trusts with each of the Fixers, or maybe one for all of them, where they can access funds to hire mercs to help people who couldn't afford a Fixer but needs one. I'd trust most of them to use this wisely, or maybe Regina, or Rogue, or Dakota or Padre would help oversee it. At least a million eddies out there, to help those who get fucked by the system most.
V sets up a trust for Judy, so she's always got enough to get by. She sends her the best tech she's gotten her hands on to ply her trade with. Maybe a new van. Set aside some to help the Dolls.

V sends her heavy duty vehicles and Scorpion's bike to the Aldecados, along with a huge stash of weaponry and half a million or so eddies to help them stay solvent.
Misty's and Vik's rents paid up for at least a year. A vehicle each. Another 250k or so for each of them. They have room to breathe. Whatever Cyberware is laying around goes to Vik -- but if River wants a couple of pieces installed, he gets them (within reason. No cyberpsychosis for my man.)
Same for Claire. Set her up with her shop's rent paid up, and a trust, give her The Beast back, and another car of her choosing.

Kerry doesn't need much, but she gives him Johnny's outfit to remember him by. Or maybe to Rogue. What do these two giants want? Whatever it is, they can have. Split the memorabilia.
And then River.
First of all, a trust for Joss and the kids. 250k each, the kids get theirs in small chunks as they age. If there's a note on either of the trailers, it's paid off. If Joss wants to move into the city, done. Set the kids up with scholarships to the best schools they want to go to. A decent, reliable car for each of the four of them. Maybe Randy wants the Megabuilding apartment for when he's ready to live on his own again.
River gets most of what's left after all that. The Glen apartment specifically, that's where they made their best memories. There's still going to be like 4 million and a bunch of cars and property left. If V dies, it's his.
This is the closest thing to happily ever after that they can get, and in my mind it absolutely happens, at some point.
Honestly, if it were me, if I didn't know the "two years later" of it, then V would have taken the President's offer and gotten Johnny out of her head surgically and lived. The will probably would have triggered. Or knowing that the surgery could be risky she'd at least have put in a provision that a percent of it triggered so Joss, the kids, River, Judy, Claire and Panam would be taken care of.
She'd never have left River destitute and desperate to take care of the family. I can't accept it.
V would wake up maybe with less money, but her assets protected enough that even without being a Merc she'd be OK. The people she loved would be OK. River would have taken care of things, and would love her without her implants.
It'll never be happily ever after in Night City, but the people that matter most will be OK.
---
But I'm going to finish today, maybe tomorrow. I planned on it today but then I spent 4 hours writing this post and have a PF2E game tonight to DM that I need to prep for.
I installed the River's Epilogue Enhanced - Nomad Star Ending mod and.... so I'm bringing the Aldecados to Arasaka, and am going to have the happiest ending possible modded into the game. With my headcanon that a trust is waiting for him and the family. They'll be fine.
I love this game. I loved it before, I love it so much more now.
I can't wait to play it again someday.

I've DA veilguard dialogue described with the phrase "every conversation sounds like HR is in the room", would you say that's accurate to your experience so far?
Hmm. I think that was referring to, like, inter-companion banter I just haven't gotten much of yet? But as far as Rook's dialogue so far goes there's quite a bit more bite than I remember from Mass Effect: Andromeda (to use the last Bioware game I played) in the options?

andromeda stands ankle deep in the icy, salty beach sand; white curls whipping around with the salt breeze. the others are cleaning up, removing those who had foolishly given their lives for a blind devotion to a thing that discarded them the moment they became useless.
a foot in front of the other. and she stands, shoulder to shoulder with flayn in front of the monument- a marker that would one day be swallowed up and erased by saltwater. andromeda carries herself with a quiet, solemn air in the whipping wind; at a glance it would seem that the familial namesake seemed to have returned to the land of the living.
briefly, andromeda's mind drifts to her mother. she can't help wonder if her mother's spirit is restless- buried far from her siblings, and her land of birth. andromeda and her father spent many hours at her mother's gravesite- she wondered if it caused worry to flayn's mother that they were so far apart.
baroness aina von glaes couldn't be interred in the glaes family mausoleum; on order of the church- so the baroness rested amongst the many blooming roses of the estate; at her favorite spot, under a tree she had brought and planted from her homeland. it was a far more fitting place for aina nakamura-glaes, than a granite and stained glass tomb that andromeda would probably, hopefully, only enter twice more while alive.
"your and s-sir seteth's mother is b-buried nearby, r-right?" andromeda turns to look at flayn. a story as endless as the ocean
the sea of monsters
1.9 red sky in morning
warnings : none ( lmk if that isn't actually true )
word count : 2.5k

1.9 The King of the Titans Installs His Back-Up Plan Just in Case He Can't Manipulate Me or I Die (Whichever Comes First)
That afternoon was one of the happiest I'd ever spent at camp, which probably goes to show, you never know when your world is about to be rocked to pieces.
Grover announced that he'd be able to spend the rest of the summer with us before resuming his quest for Pan. His bosses at the Council of Cloven Elders were so impressed that he hadn't gotten himself killed and had cleared the way for future searchers, that they granted him a two-month furlough and a new set of reed pipes.
The only bad news: Grover insisted on playing those pipes all afternoon long, and his musical skills hadn't improved much. He played "YMCA," and the strawberry plants started going crazy, wrapping around our feet like they were trying to strangle us. I guess I couldn't blame them, seeing as I wanted to strangle his 'music' too. However illogically that was phrased. But, because I was a good friend, I managed to restrain myself and not break them. Though, I wasn't about to make any promises if he started on Hilary Duff again.
Grover told me he could dissolve the empathy link between us, now that we were face to face, but I had simply rolled my eyes and told him not to be an idiot. He put down his reed pipes and stared at me. "But, if I get in trouble again, you'll be in danger, Allie! You could die!"
"I'm a demigod, Grover," I scoffed back. "Dying's in the job description." I gave him a stern, unyielding look that said I wasn't going to back down on this. "If you get in trouble again, I want to know about it. And I'll come to help you again, Grover. I wouldn't have it any other way."
In the end, he agreed not to break the link. He went back to playing "YMCA" for the strawberry plants. I didn't need an empathy link with the plants to know how they felt about it. I suspect I did everyone a favor when I confiscated the reeds and rapped him around the head with them.
As for Tyson, the campers treated him like a hero. I would've been happy to have him as my cabin mate forever, but that evening, as we were sitting on a sand dune overlooking the Long Island Sound, he made an announcement that completely took me by surprise.
"Dream came from Daddy last night," he said. "He wants me to visit."
I wondered if he was kidding, but Tyson really didn't know how to kid. "Poseidon sent you a dream message?"
Tyson nodded. "Wants me to go underwater for the rest of the summer. Learn to work at Cyclopes' forges. He called it an inter— an intern—"
"An internship?"
"Yes." I let that sink in. I'll admit, I felt a little bitter. Poseidon did seem to actually care about Tyson. But me? He said to my face that I was a mistake. Who wouldn't feel a bit resentful at hearing their parent say that, no matter how they felt about the parent themselves? Then I realized, Tyson was going? Just like that?
"When would you leave?" I asked.
"Now."
"Now. Like... right now?"
"Now."
"Oh." I stared out at the waves of Long Island Sound. The water was glistening red in the sunset. I could feel tears pricking my eyelids. "I'm happy for you, bub," I managed. "Seriously."
"Hard to leave my new sister," he said with a tremble in his voice. "But I want to make things. Weapons for the camp. You will need them."
Unfortunately, I knew he was right. The Fleece hadn't solved all the camp's problems. Annabeth and Cody were both still out there, gathering an army aboard the Princess Andromeda. Kronos was still re-forming in his golden coffin. Eventually, we would have to fight them. War was inevitable, and the Great Prophecy loomed over my head like a Sword of Damocles. I would turn nineteen in a little over three weeks, meaning I would be exactly two years away from my much-dreaded twenty-first birthday.
"You'll make the best weapons ever," I told Tyson. I held up my bracelet proudly. "The best. No contest."
Tyson sniffled. "Brothers and sisters help each other."
"You're my brother," I vowed. "No doubt about it."
He patted me on the back so hard he almost knocked me down the sand dune. Then he wiped a tear from his cheek and stood to go. "Use the shield well."
"I will, bub."
"Save your life someday."
The way he said it, so matter-of-fact, I wondered if that Cyclops eye of his could see into the future.
"Just like its creator," I answered softly as he headed down to the beach and whistled, the way I'd taught him. Rainbow, the hippocampus, burst out of the waves. I watched the two of them ride off together into the realm of Poseidon.
Once they were gone, I looked down at my new bracelet. I pressed the sapphire and the shield spiraled out to full size. Hammered into the bronze were pictures in Ancient Greek style, scenes from our adventures this summer. There was me slaying a Laistrygonian dodgeball player, Luke fighting the bronze bulls on Half-Blood Hill, Tyson riding Rainbow toward the Princess Andromeda, the CSS Birmingham blasting its cannons at Charybdis. I ran my hand across a picture of Tyson, battling the Hydra as he held aloft a box of Monster Donuts.
I couldn't help feeling sad. I knew Tyson would have a fantastic time under the ocean. He would love his internship, of that I had no doubt, not to mention seeing Poseidon, whom he idolized. But I would miss everything about him— his fascination with horses, the way he could fix chariots or crumple metal with his bare hands, or tie our enemies into knots. I'd even miss him snoring like an earthquake in the next bunk all night.
"Hey, Allie."
I turned.
Luke and Grover were standing at the top of the sand dune. I wiped a few stay tears from my eyes.
"Tyson..." I told them. "He had to..."
"We know," Luke replied softly, his expression gentle as he reached out to smooth down my curls. "Chiron told us."
"Cyclops forges." Grover shuddered. "I hear the cafeteria food there is terrible! Like, no enchiladas at all."
I let out a watery laugh, and he gained a pleased expression. Luke wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "Come on, Angel. Time for dinner."
We walked back toward the dining pavilion together, just the three of us together, almost like old times.
A storm raged that night, but it parted around Camp Half-Blood as storms usually did (Thank Olympus for weather wards).
Lightning flashed against the horizon, waves pounded the shore, but not a drop fell in our valley. We were protected again, thanks to the Fleece, safely sealed inside our magical borders.
Still, my dreams were restless. I heard Kronos taunting me from the depths of Tartarus.
Polyphemus sits blindly in his cave, young heroine, believing he has won a great victory. Are you any less deluded? The Titan's cold laughter filled the darkness of the cavern.
Then my dream changed. I was following Tyson to the bottom of the sea, into the court of Poseidon. It was a radiant hall filled with blue light, the floor cobbled with pearls. And there, on a throne of coral, sat my father, dressed like a simple fisherman in khaki shorts and a sun-bleached T-shirt. I looked up into his tan weathered face and sea-green eyes, all older, but still looking just like me, and he spoke two words: Brace yourself.
I woke with a start.
There was a banging on the door. Grover flew inside without waiting for permission. "Allie!" he stammered. "Luke... on the hill... he..."
The look in his eyes told me something was terribly wrong. Luke had been on guard duty that night, protecting the Fleece. If something had happened— I ripped off the covers, my blood like ice water in my veins. I grabbed a piece of Ambrosia from my secret stash, then threw on a hoodie over my sports bra and pajama pants and shoved on the closest pair of slip-on shoes (which happened to be Gucci slides), while Grover tried to make a complete sentence, but he was too stunned, too out of breath. He wasn't making any sense.
"She's lying there... just lying there..."
Who was she? The only thing I could think was that a new camper must have arrived, deathly injured by the sounds of it.
I ran outside and raced across the central yard, Grover right behind me. Dawn was just breaking, but the whole camp seemed to be stirring. Word was spreading. Something huge had happened. A few campers were already making their way toward the hill as fast as they could, satyrs and nymphs and heroes in a weird mix of armor and pajamas. I spotted Will and his younger sister Kayla Knowles, gripping a box of medical supplies and a quiver of arrows between them as they struggled up the slope.
I heard the clop of horse hooves, and Chiron galloped up behind us, looking grim.
"Is it true?" he asked Grover.
Grover could only nod, his expression dazed.
I tried to ask what was going on, but Chiron grabbed me by the arm and effortlessly lifted me onto his back. Together we thundered up Half-Blood Hill, where a small crowd had started to gather.
I expected to see the Fleece missing from the pine tree, but it was still there, glittering in the first light of dawn. The storm had broken and the sky was bloodred from the rising sun. The color made me queasy, as I remembered an old phrase one of my directors had often spouted. Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in morning, sailor's warning.
"Curse the titan lord," Chiron said. "He's tricked us again, given himself another chance to control the prophecy. He's given himself a backup plan."
"What do you mean?" I asked fearfully.
"The Fleece," he answered me in a grim tone of voice. "The Fleece did its work too well."
That was, as you may have guessed, completely unhelpful. We galloped forward, everyone moving out of our way. There at the base of the tree, a girl was lying unconscious. Luke was pale-faced and dressed in Greek armor as he knelt next to her. He didn't glance back as we cantered up to the group.
"My gods," he was muttering repeatedly. "My gods. My gods."
My instinctual fear caused blood to roar in my ears. I couldn't think straight. What had happened? Was Luke hurt? Was the Fleece still there? Still undamaged?
The tree itself looked perfectly fine, whole and healthy, suffused with the essence of the Golden Fleece.
"It healed the tree," Chiron said, his voice ragged. "And poison was not the only thing it purged."
Luke finally looked away from the girl at the sound of Chiron's voice. When he saw us, he ran to Chiron. "It... she... just suddenly there..."
His eyes were streaming with tears uncharacteristically, but I still didn't understand. I was too freaked out to make sense of it all. I leaped off Chiron's back and ran toward the unconscious girl. Chiron said: "Allie, wait!"
I knelt by her side. She had short black hair and freckles across her nose. She was built like a long-distance runner, lithe and strong, and she wore clothes that were somewhere between punk and Goth— a black T-shirt, black tattered jeans, and a leather jacket with buttons from a bunch of different bands.
She wasn't a camper. I didn't recognize her from any of the cabins. And yet I had the strangest feeling I'd seen her before...
"It's true," Grover said, panting from his run up the hill. "I can't believe..."
Nobody else came close to the girl.
I put my hand on her forehead, trying to use my rudimentary first-aid skills to assess her. Her skin was cold, but my fingertips tingled as if they were burning.
"She needs nectar and ambrosia," I said. She was clearly a half-blood, whether she was a camper or not. I could sense that just from one touch. I didn't understand why everyone was acting so scared. I shot a scathing look at the medics, who were as frozen as everyone else.
Breakdowns are for later people. Not when there's someone in desperate need of medical aid lying unconscious in front of you. Gods! Well, if none of them were going to help, I would.
I took her by the shoulders and lifted her into a sitting position, resting her head on my shoulder. Then I pulled out the small piece of ambrosia from my pocket. I pinched her nose to make her open her mouth, popped in the ambrosia, and massaged her throat to make her swallow. For a moment, nothing happened.
Then the girl took a shaky breath. She coughed and opened her eyes.
Her irises were startlingly blue— electric blue.
The girl stared at me in bewilderment, shivering and wild-eyed. "Who—"
"I'm Allie," I said, keeping my tone soothing like I was talking to Nessa's little half-brother, or one of the camp's younger kids (usually about five to seven, but there was a four-year-old son of Apollo who had come after his mother's death. I'll give Apollo this, he made certain that none of his children ended up in the foster system). "You're safe now."
"Strangest dream..."
"It's okay."
"Dying."
"No," I assured her. "You're okay. What's your name?" That's when I knew. Even before she said it. I had seen those eyes before, not just in a picture and I had heard that voice before too. "Wait."
The girl's blue eyes stared into mine, and I understood what the Golden Fleece quest had been about. The poisoning of the tree. Everything. Kronos had done it to bring another chess piece into play— another chance to control the prophecy. If I died or he couldn't find a way to control me, he had a backup plan.
Even Chiron, Luke, and Grover, who should've been celebrating this moment, were too shocked, thinking about what it might mean for the future, and the war. And I was holding someone who was supposed to have died seven years ago in my arms.
"I am Thalia," she said, unaware of the turmoil she was about to cause the world. "Daughter of Zeus."

I really love your outfit!!! Where did you get the jacket?????
- 🎸 anon
I got it from Caligaria IV. It's a solar system at the edge of the Andromeda Galaxy, though I haven't returned to visit since I joined The Astral Express.
Typically, they host a lot of inter-galatical festivals, I would recommend attending some.
