Regulus scoffed when Pandora announced the first spell they would be practising. Pandora glared at him, and James moved to shield him. He’d never seen her so present. She was terrifying. 

Pandora made them pair off and start casting Expelliarmus at each other, trying to disarm their partner while the other tried to keep their wand in their hand. 

James’s wand had flown out of his hand at least ten times now. Regulus was powerful. James couldn’t keep his wand in his hand at all. 

“Alright, time to switch,” Pandora announced, and now it was James’s turn. 

He tried. He really did, but he simply could not disarm Regulus. 

“Wow, love, you’re amazing,” James said, totally in awe of his boyfriend. 

“Everyone, try to disarm Regulus at once!” Pandora demanded. They formed a circle around Regulus. James didn’t like the idea of eight people pointing their wands at him. Regulus didn’t seem to mind, though, as he stood, lazily holding his wand with a huge smirk on his face. “NOW!!!” Pandora yelled, and they all cast Expelliarmus on him. Not a single person managed to disarm him. Regulus’s eyes flashed wickedly, and a sly smile curled his lips. He didn’t even say the spell. He flicked his wand, and eight wands flew towards him. He plucked them out of the air and crossed his arms across his chest, quirking an eyebrow at their stunned faces. 

“I vote Regulus is our new teacher,” Remus said when Regulus handed his wand back. 

“I second that!” Peter agreed, and with that, it was decided that Regulus would be put in charge of their little army. James couldn’t be prouder.

For me, James Potter taking off Regulus’ binder when he is having a panic attack is the equivalent of a man ripping off a women’s corset in period films.

“I just feel so fucking clingy.” James said, collapsing on the bed. 

“So?” Regulus replied. He tugged at James’ shirt, but the brown-eyed man resisted Regulus' gesture. 

“This is the part where you reassure me and tell me that I'm not clingy.” James pouted.

“But you are.” Regulus laughed. 

He pulled James harder this time. James rendered under his touch but refused to look at him. 

“Really?” His mouth downturned in an instant. 

“That’s not a bad thing, love.” Regulus’ hand reached for James’ chin, brushing his thumb carefully across his jaw. “I like you like that.”

“Clingy?” James’ eyes remained closely pressed together. 

“Yes.” Regulus promised. “I missed you this week.”  

James opened his eyes and pressed himself closer to Regulus, as if there was a magic comfort that only his boyfriend’s chest could provide. 

“So you don’t get annoyed?” 

“No, James.” Regulus said, running his fingers through James’ hair. 

“Not ever?” 

“Baby.” Regulus said, even softer this time, letting the love that only James was privy to linger on his tone. 

“Not even right now?”

“Let me repeat it.” Regulus took the back of James’ hand and pressed a gentle kiss. “Not-” he continued kissing James’ hand until he reached the tip of his index finger “- ever.” 

James moaned as Regulus’ tongue touched his finger, swirling around it. Regulus always knew how to get James out of his own head. 

“Can you keep repeating that?” James pleaded. 

“As much as you want, love.”

James: So, what are you in the mood for today?

Regulus: World domination.

James: Love, we've been over th-

Regulus, interrupting: You're my world.

James: Awww, Reg!!!

"Regulus doesn't get embarrassed," Sirius argues, rolling his eyes as he sips his drink. "It's infuriating. As his sibling, it's my job to embarrass him, but he just gets all...huffy and disappointed."

"Well, you are rather disappointing, acting like an idiot," Regulus drawls from his spot on the other side of the loose circle of friends, sending Sirius a smirk.

"But it's inhuman! I mean, I've tried everything! Embarrassing childhood stories, yelling at you in front of a crowd, sex jokes, everything!" Sirius whines, leaning into Remus's side dramatically.

"It's true," Barty nods emphatically. "I don't think I've ever once seen him blush. Even that time I gave him a lap dance during breakfast! It's like he's made of stone or something." He grins for a moment, "Or maybe he liked it."

"I certainly didn't like that," Regulus snorts. "I just didn't care. You were the one being obnoxious, not me. I'm not going to be embarrassed by your antics, that's your job."

But James decides he needs to set the record straight. Because Regulus certainly does blush. "I'm sorry, but Regulus blushes all the time!" he says loudly, grinning at bit as everyone looks at him.

"James," Regulus hisses, immediately frowning, looking like he wants to kill him. "No, I do not."

Sirius, however, is grinning from ear to ear. "Oh? What gets Ickle Reggie to blush, then?"

And, spurred on by the challenge, James crawls slowly over to Regulus, who is giving him a death glare, and leans to whisper in his ear, making sure to speak so quietly nobody can hear him.

"Hi, baby," he murmurs lowly, allowing his breath to tickle Regulus's skin. "You look gorgeous today."

The effect of the pet name is instantaneous. Immediately, Regulus turns bright red and lets out a little noise, stammering as he looks down to the floor. James laughs as he pulls back, grinning triumphantly, and Sirius yells out, "What did you say to him?"

But he'll never tell. "Nothing," James grins, already heading back to where he was sitting, enjoying the fact that he's the only one that can make Regulus Black blush.
