Clymene pretended she didn't hear Epimetheus stomp his way to her, not to ignore him but play a game with her youngest son. Leaving him for an extending period of time was out of the question for the titaness. He was her last baby and she wanted to treasure every moment she could with him. He thrived off of her attention and he wanted for nothing.

As she felt his touch on her legs, she stood still for a moment before she feigned a surprised look on her face. "Epi darling! Where have you been? I missed you!" She yelped before she kneeled down to grab him and squeeze him against her body. "Your father has business on the Mount today and brought Atlas and Menoetius with him. Prometheus is napping. And you know how long he sleeps! So you'll just have me for the day. What should we do, little one?" She continued before kissing the top of his head with his bushy hair.

Epimetheus snorted. "I'm not pretending!" An exclamation of childish stubbornness, arms crossing over his chest. Helios' attention had always been a double-sided sword to him. Part of him was confused by its root. The reason Helios had any interest in him beyond the mockery. Whether he was more than just meaningless entertainment. It was hard to believe that there was more to the attention he was receiving, not when he witnessed Helios' behavior with everyone else. And Epimetheus had promised himself that he wouldn't become one of the many notches on the sun god's bedpost. Still, part of him was flattered by the attention. Especially if it wasn't outright crude or teasing. When it could almost be mistaken for caring. Perhaps a bit shy. "But I don't despise it all the time." He admitted quietly, letting his arms fall to his side again.

He would have been respectful enough to greet Nettelia with caution and space. There was no such thing between twin brothers. Prometheus had all but collapsed over Epimetheus, embracing him tightly and not caring if his brother was still angry from 15 years ago before his death. When he pulled away, it was without answering any question or concern Epimetheus might have posed during the embrace. Prometheus had been too lost in relief and the overwhelming sensation of... everything. There were a lot of emotions that he couldn't name that ran through him now.

"You were dead for 15 years," Prometheus said abruptly, as though slightly accusatory.

Horus missed the companionship of a falcon - those intelligent birds that he would train himself to deliver messages and provide companionship to him. Without his son to care for anymore, his falcons had once filled a little bit in of that empty place in his life and heart to care and nurture something. Apparently mortals did not sell these birds any longer, nor could he find them flying through the skies in this country. Aren had been kind enough to summon a few in one of the classrooms and then left him alone to pick out the one that suited him most. Horus watched them all fly and roost on conjured branches while he wondered if he even had it in himself to train one again.

Sadness in his eyes, Horus watched two take off in flight and soar towards the open door, only to land on the shoulders of a man. No, not a man. Countless of the older avariel who fought, and even a few young ones that had been unable to be whisked away to Elysia, were killed during the angel rebellion, including his own son. Horus couldn't remember the last time he had ever seen one, or felt their unique magic nearby. That was until that very moment. "It appears the birds like you."

Epimetheus was dramatic but, in all fairness, Prometheus had his moments as well. He remembered their mother trying to finally shut him up when he'd bent his wing as a child. He looked over at the hedgehog, almost aghast. "I am very nice, thank you very much," he argued. "I even got you your own room. How many hedgehogs can say they'd got their own room?" Indeed, the owners of the penthouse Prometheus had stolen (while they were on vacation) had a kid's room which he gave the hedgehog. Though poor Milo certainly had to deal with Prometheus' shifting moods - the way that the avariel felt permanently upset about something. Probably because he was.

Pros sighed and flopped onto the couch beside his brother. "I really can't talk you out of fighting with the druids can I? I'm sure Milo wouldn't want you to go. What are you going to do? Make the animals fight? I'm pretty sure it's been at least a few hundred years since I've seen you actually take out your seraph blade, Ep."

"Okay, but that's not today. I want to feel better today." Was he whining? It felt like he was whining, but he didn't care. Being sick was the worst. Why did he have to deal with this? It felt like the worst thing that could've happened to him and he'd been alive for a very long time. Several animals had...no, he couldn't think about that. He grabbed the broth that had been handed to him and immediately took a sip. "Fine. I'll just suffer." He placed the broth down and laid down on the couch just as the hedgehog came running towards him. That, of course, made him lift to a sitting position.

"Hey, buddy!" He picked up Milo and then looked towards Prometheus. His brother was definitely not the kind of guy that cherished animals as much as he did, but he did appreciate that the other avariel tried for him. "Aw, Milo, you have to use the pad in the kitchen. ProPro is very particular about his stuff, you know." The hedgehog started to complain for a moment. "No, no, he's really nice when he wants to be, I promise. Right, ProPro?"

Hades 2

Lately, I've been a bit obsessed about Hades 2, I've been watching people play the test run , listening to compilations of interactions and scouring theories.

While doing all of that, I noticed something of a pattern, a theme that often came back and I think I may have found out one of the MAIN theme and conflict of the game and I've seen nobody talk about it yet, so here we go.

More under if you're not against being possibly spoiled.

I think one of the major themes of Hades 2 is going to be about Humanity and its complex relationship with the Gods, the way the gods treat mortals and the way mortals treat the gods.

here are my evidences

The interactions

the first thing that put me on this path was this interaction between Melinoe and Nemesis.

In this conversation, Nemesis and Melinoe are talking about Retribution and Justice and how Nemesis believes that Kronos taking over the underworld and challenging the Olympians may be what they deserve. Notice how Nemesis specifically mentions mortals and the Golden Age.

For those who don't know, in greek mythology the Golden Age was the first Era of Humanity and when Chronos was the ruler of the heavens. It was a time of peace and harmony for humanity where there existed no plague or famine, there was no need to work as they could simply pick their food from nature itself. They lived long lives, remaining youthful and died peacefully in their sleep.

Nemesis is I think trying to hint to Melinoe that maybe the situation is not exactly as black and white as it first seems and that humanity may have a bigger role in this than first thought.

A second interaction i want to bring to mind is about Moros and his relationship with mortals.

Here Moros admits that sometimes he because of was simply bored he would knowingly bring doom and pain to Mortals ending their lives painfully.

Archnea's interactions are also the strongest contenders for that theory, as they bring back that theme of divine cruelty, the gods view of mankind and how they callously treat them.

She has been wronged by the gods for the simple reason that she was better than them at something and they naturally couldn't stand it so they cursed her to live as a spider. She is filled with resentment for them and even warns Mel not to trust them. Also, note how she admits she fears the gods more than she fears Chronos.

2. Dora

Now Dora is a bit particular because we don't know much about her, but I have seen a theory and some interaction with Moros seem to be pointing toward it, which is that she might be Pandora, the original sinner of Greek mythology.

the myth of Pandora goes a bit like this: During the Golden Age, after Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gifted it to humanity, the gods decided to punish Prometheus by punishing humanity. They built Pandora, a woman beautiful beyond compare, and gave her a box full of the evils of the world. They then send her to seduce Epimetheus Prometheus's brother, who despite his brother's warning is promptly seduced by Pandora's beauty and welcomes her into his home. She then opened the box and released the evil of the world upon mankind, thus ending the Golden Age. Only hope stays inside the box.

Again if this is indeed true, it would follow the theme of the gods inflicting pain and suffering upon mankind for petty reasons, uncaring about the consequences of those actions.

3. Hades I

During the first game, many interactions points toward the gods general uncaring attitudes about mortals. Demeter thinks it was a mortal who stole her daughter away, so she decides that she will punish them all by starving them with an eternal winter. The other gods make almost mention of it only to say how much it annoys them.

4. Speculation

This part is not so much about evidences and more about speculations about the story of Hades 2 based upon my theory that mankind is going to be central in this tale.

The reason how Chronos is so powerfull, powerfull enough to free himself from Tartarus and claim the Underworld for himself, is that mortal were tired of being the gods' playthings and prayed to him, they prayed for his return, for the return of the golden age, where pain and suffering were unknown to them and the gods weren't using them for their own amusement.

The gods are going to have to deal with the fact that their poor treatment of humanity has consequences and those consequences are the return of Chronos and a second titonomachy.

Melinoe will propably have to face the fact that Chronos is wrong in challenging the gods and that the current status quo cannot be sustained any longer. The Olympian gods will have to change how they treat mankind if they wish to even have a stand a chance against chronos.

(TLDR, The Olympian gods have treated mankind like shit for a long time and now they are dealing with the consequences of those actions when the mortals are praying to Chronos to come back and restore back the golden Age where their lives weren't even half as awful. Melinoe will have to deal with the fact that her family might very well deserve what is happening to them and if she wishes to save them, the gods will have to change.)

I've been really sad about Dragalia Lost recently and the fact that my boy Epimetheus was robbed of any closure! I really wish we got SOME sort of interaction between him and his brothers (or at the very least Prometheus), but alas...

I might write a fic about Epimetheus finally getting to tell his brothers how he feels because he deserves it!! Also Epimetheus is one of my favorite characters of all time and I absolutely adore him

and if you think that's cool, wait 'til you find out about Epimetheus and Janus, moons of Saturn which trade places every few years. being "co-orbital" they occupy the same approximate orbit but differ in size, both orbiting the same planet but in a location they can't sustain without pinging off the other. you know that scene in The Emperor's New Groove where they climb up the chasm by bracing against each other? these are like that.

and if they weren't doing that, saturn's rings would look very different because they're both shepherd moons with important roles in maintaining the rings and preventing them from coalescing into much less impressive-looking moons and moonlets. actually shepherd moons are their own whole thing which i recommend you read into. space is cool.

also venus rotates backwards compared to everything else in the solar system. and very, very slowly. about five solar days pass per venusian year. one possible reason for this is the past existence of a retrograde satellite which has long since fallen into venus, but which cancelled out a great deal of venus's rotation in so doing.

retrograde satellites (venus's one-time moon) slowly fall into their parents (venus) due to the influence of their primary (the sun)'s interaction. essentially, in a given year the sun spends slightly more time dragging the satellite against the direction it's orbiting and slowing it down than it does pulling the other way and speeding it up.

the same effect is slowly hurling luna away from the earth, about 1.5 inches per year. in some 600 million years, it will be too far away for us to ever see a total solar eclipse from earth's surface ever again. space is cool.

I think... in Astoria universe I'll give the human creation to Prometheus. His Brother Epimetheus created the animals (he can also talk to them) and Aether a powerful titan gave them life so to speak, which is kept secret during Olympians' rule so the few titans don't get favored amongst mortals. In Tartarus they are also not... liked for not fighting for their kind during the big war and their names aren't spoken so those who were born there (Astraeus, Selene etc) don't know humans basically owe their existence to titans, its a pretty niche knowledge... and very bewildering later.

I stopped with you for a reason.” She exclaimed.

  The titaness then patted her hand against his cheek before pressing a soft kiss to it. “I had to save the best for last, Epi darling.” And that wasn’t an exaggeration. Raising Epimetheus compared to his older brothers proved easier and much more enjoyable. It helped that he was an adorable baby who adored her and it was easy to overlook his issue with wanting to eat everything. One might think her experience with Epimetheus would make her want more children but having another just like him wouldn’t happen. Each of her children were unique despite their common chaotic tenacities. Four was enough especially when she didn’t plan to have any in the first place. 

  “Now...we’ll just have to see if Meno follows in your footsteps once he’s freed!” Clymene mused before laughing. “Could you imagine? Meno having a kid in general. Maybe you should just give him a dog or a bear...panther. He should stick to animals and luckily for him, he has you for that!”

Made him wrap his legs around the other one tighter. Epi didn't need the encouragement. Didn't mind when it was a bit rough. The burn. But there was adoration in his eyes as he opened them, Helios' face filling out his field of vision. Warm fingertips brushed over his cheek and neck as he rolled his hips. "Move!" Epimetheus insisted, no, begged for, knowing full well his lover took cruel delight in teasing and torturing him whenever he had the chance. "Please!" More desperate, craning his neck to capture Helios' lips.

In the canon Prometheus and Epimetheus don't interact much due to the high job of Pom but i can totally see him buy the Ds for his brother and get him gifts because despite everything they love each other

Epimetheus was spotted walking over to one of the tent areas but Prometheus was well aware there was nothing for him there by the covens. Even if he didn't know as much, he definitely recognized that very suspicious look in his twin brother's eyes. His suspicion was only bolstered by the sudden appearance of an animated golem which visibly seemed to disappoint his brother. In just a heartbeat, the younger of the twins was in front of the older with a hand on his chest. "Ah, ah... I don't know where you're going but it's night. No one goes out at night and you certainly don't in the daylight either." He looked back towards the golem and nodded. "You're... I don't know." Dismissed? "Thanks," he decided on. Prometheus sighed and turned back to his brother. "Stop."

Any headcanons for Prometheus and his brothers?

okay so i think Prometheus is the eldest, then Atlas, their sister Anchiale, Menoetius, and lastly, Epimetheus. 

Prometheus is perhaps the wisest of his siblings.

he’s cunning and wily, and he loves a good prank more than anything else.. BUT he’s also extremely kind and generous and actually rather sensible.

Menoetius on the other hand, is a little rage machine.

his name means “doomed might” apparently, and he’s listed as being defeated by Zeus during the Titanomachy and banished to Tartarus

i think he’s a very proud god, probably a little arrogant and cocky, but still not a villain.

he sides with Iapetus and Cronus during the Titanomachy because i think he’s loyal and committed to Cronus’ cause, in contrast with Prometheus, who sides with Zeus.

Anchiale is the unknown middle sister that there is literally nothing known about her.. i couldn’t even find her name’s etymology asdhajdhajhd

so i’m taking creative license here and I’m gonna say that she’s not dissimilar to Prometheus.. she’s also kind and gracious, though quiet.

she probably doesn’t appreciate fighting and i think she might’ve only sided with Zeus because Prometheus asked her to.. but otherwise, she’d in general be on the side that advocates for peace.

after the Titanomachy, when Iapetus, Menoetius and the rest of Cronus’ cronies get dumped into Tartarus, Anchiale probably goes to live with her parents- Oceanus and Tethys.

Atlas is the son most like Iapetus in nature. 

he’s extremely devious and doesn’t really think there’s anything like “cheating”.

still though.. i think he’s more of a short-term planner and he doesn’t have the wisdom of Prometheus’ foresight to plan ahead.. and that’s definitely his greatest failing.

along with Menoetius, Atlas sides with Cronus, and as the myth goes- his punishment is not to serve in Tartarus but to spend the rest of his life holding up the Heavens (killer workout amirite?)

lastly, Epimetheus.. 

in Olympus Guardian, they portray him as a loveable dumbass, and honestly that interpretation is so good,, i love it.

i think he’s got a really big heart, but unfortunately, he’s condemned by his name (which means “hindsight”) so he sucks at thinking ahead and considering consequences, which is why he makes so many bad decisions (*ahem* accepting Pandora from the gods) 

anyways, he’s a lover not a fighter... and Prometheus knows that which is why he makes sure that Epimetheus follows him during the Titanomachy.. if he can’t save his other brothers, well, at least he’ll have saved (2) of his siblings.
