Nick was born the reluctant older son of one of London's most powerful, and corrupt, politicians during the Georgian era in Britain. He was a spoiled child, often left to the care of nannies and other household staff, alongside his younger sister Nina when she joined them when he was four.

His mother died when he was six and Nina two, and their father was never present, up until he died when they were in their late teens. Nina was the light of his life however, and the pair were inseparable even as they grew into adulthood. He was remarkably protective over her.

He was reluctantly married in his mid 20s, a political match that had been in place since his birth. Katherine was an adequate wife, though often dull, and he dutifully gave her children and a lavish home as per his requirements as husband. But he often strayed, and rarely was home to pay attention to his children, Caroline, Charlotte & James.

When he turned 35, he embarked on an affair with a woman who turned out to be a vampire. She turned him for her own pleasure, and after he realised what he had become, he knew he didn't want to face this life alone. He convinced his sister to turn as well, and the pair faked their deaths. When realising what he had done, the woman who'd turned him left the pair, and from then on it was Nick and Nina alone.

It was ideal, moving all the time, never staying in one place, moving to the States when they felt it was time for somewhere new. Until the 90s, when they stumbled upon a wolf pack. The pack attacked, killing Nina. In his rage, he slaughtered them all before fleeing the area.

From then on, he has wandered from town to town lost, revelling in hedonism, refusing to create connections, and causing chaos wherever he can.
