Fuck you Mary and Robert Rawling - you are both probably mostly kept retarded in boxes like the other associates and family members of wooden Robot inventors.

Team Sonic’s Favorite Disney Movies! ✨👑
❥ Hello everyone! So, I was a little bored so I decided to make this lol, but I hope you enjoy! Thank you & have a good one! 🙌💕
Sonic 💙
Treasure Planet
Tumblr media
He thinks Jim Hawkins is the coolest Disney protagonist: loves the action, the pirates, the dramatic flair of the characters, & the board! The solar board tricks are his favorite scenes! He sometimes asks Tails to make him one, but Tom says no. (Lol)
Loves the world building & even thinks about buying the original “Treasure Island,” says he will but completely forgets. Asked if there was a comic ver. or a graphic novel.
Was suspicious of Long John Silver, but adored their relationship at the end. Thinks his cyborg arm is cool!
Cars
Tumblr media
Everyone saw this coming (lol) but Sonic adores the Cars franchise! Every single one! But prefers the first since they’re always the best ones, sings “Life is Highway” every time it comes on! Adds it to his running playlist or whenever he needs some good energy. The perfect mix of rock & country!
Wishes cars could talk after first watching this. Will sometimes go all the way to Arizona just to take a crack at running the canyons; Knuckles is the only one that knows…
Loves Cars 2! Thinks it’s hilarious but also pretty epic in its own way. Tow Mater makes him laugh every time.
Tails 💛
Big Hero 6
Tumblr media
While the action & vibrant color schemes are amazing, he’s more interested in the advanced technology & world building. Loves Baymax & has even considered building his own version of a medical robot for Maddie’s work. But she claims they’re just fine. Tom has tried asking for a robotic housekeeper though!
Relates to Hiro Hamada a lot about wanting to prove himself as both a good friend & an inventor. Loves the passion Hiro puts into his work, but the big scene with Tadashi is a little too sad for Tails. 🥺
Cheers every time Baymax comes back! Will sometimes play the film as background noise when he’s working, or just the soundtrack.
Luca
Tumblr media
The unique art style & colorful landscapes are what catch his eye first, until the whole sea monster bit rolls in. Loved the concept of them becoming human when dry, but sometimes doesn’t understand the science behind it. He might think a little too hard about it… 😅
Luca’s relationship with Alberto reminds Tails of him & Sonic when they met! You can guess who’s who (lol) but their hijinks with the race always make him giggle. It reminds Tails of Sonic’s antics.
Loves Luca’s want to learn & study things about the human world. Will look for a book about old Italian history or even sea creatures after he finished the movie. Every time!
Knuckles ❤️
Beauty & the Beast
Tumblr media
Gets super into romance films after hanging out with Wade’s mom, & it’s always his first pick for family movie night! Enjoys the songs after Tom explains musicals, but Knuckles loves Belle’s endless curiosity & fearlessness. Absolutely despises Gaston though, sometimes he can’t sit through his song.
Enjoys the message of “beauty within” & loving someone for who they are, not for their appearance. If Shadow joins the family, they’re both watching this film! 😂
The ending always catches him off guard even though he knows what happens next. But the heartfelt moment between Belle & the Beast always tugs at his heart. Poor guy teared up a little when he first watched it.
Brave
Tumblr media
Was immediately intrigued by the warrior princess! So much so he took up archery by carving his own bow & arrows. Until he used all the firewood to do so; he had to help Tom find more after that. But at least he’s a skilled archer now!
Finds the concept of a bear curse interesting, as to him bears are powerful but loving creatures. Honestly thinks it’s cool having a bear mom. He gets real invested once the action starts to kick in, & admires Merida’s valor greatly.
At one point he found a little bear cub out in the woods while training & believed it to be abandoned. Maddie flipped out when she saw it, & made Knuckles take it back home. He did & even became friends with the Mama bear.
Bonus! Shadow 🖤
Robin Hood
Tumblr media
I imagine this was Maria’s favorite & she would always have this as an option for Shadow on movie night. A classic Disney film that also has a lot of whimsy & color, which Shadow appreciates since the main cast is so likable. Don’t tell anyone that though. 🤫
Loves romance as well & is not ashamed. Sees Marian & Robin as the perfect Disney couple since their will to be together is so strong. But sometimes wishes Maid Marian would do something other than wait for Robin, but he appreciated that pie toss! 🥧
Decided to take up archery along with Knuckles, but becomes frustrated he can’t get it right away. Eventually he gives up after attempting a trick shot on a smaller target, that being Sonic’s old baseball cap.
Finding Nemo
Tumblr media
While Shadow loves his found family tropes, he really likes the film because of Nemo. Finds him & his little fin adorable, but enjoys Nemo’s determination to become better. Also don’t tell anyone. Especially Sonic! 😅
Finds the vibrant ocean images & setting very calming, but loves how educational it can be. With how animals work with their environment & whatnot. Especially the part with the whale, he gets so amazed but also very confused by it (lol).
Another secret is that he finds Dory funny; her little quips & funny moments usually get a small smile or even a chuckle out of him. Even her little noise effects during the jellyfish scene get him smiling! But her behavior reminds him of Maria a little bit, so he enjoys her screen time a little more.

Let me keep talking about Sonic the Hedgehog roleswaps for a few more days, and then I’ll quit, I promise.
Today, we’re talking about an Eggman and Sonic swap. I don’t have a name for it yet. I might think of something later. As before, ask questions if you have them because I’ll take any excuse to yap
In this AU, Ivo Robotnik was abandoned in the woods. He built rudimentary robots to help him survive. In his later years, he made Belle (the Tails of this AU) Together, they found a place in Mobian society as Mr. Tinker and his daughter, Belle. They built tools and robots to help people.
Some of the people they helped includes Sage, the Knuckles of this AU. She was an AI program built by the Ancients to protect the Starfall Islands and all the tech on it. They also helped Metal Sonic, but I don’t really have a backstory for him yet. I mean, both he and Amy have mysterious/boring pasts
As for Sonic in this AU, he’s a hedgehog with incredible speed, supernatural even by Mobian standards. He also strongly believes that you shouldn’t help others for free. He philosophically stands opposed to Mr. Tinker because the inventor and his machines just help people with no strings attached. He destroys the machines for this reason
Early in his life, Sonic accidentally helped Tails unintentionally. When Tails wanted to repay the favor, Sonic let him. He didn’t think Tails would stick around so long. On the outside, they look like they have a cordial relationship, but Sonic will get violent if he thinks Tails has helped others or even Sonic himself (Sonic does not like it when people help him)
Knuckles and Amy are some of Sonic’s other associates. They exchange favors, but don’t ever think they’re friends or aren’t willing to backstab each other
I haven’t really thought about the others, BUT it could be that instead of Mr. Tinker’s cousin, Maria is his (insert however many greats) granddaughter, and she travels back in time to help deal with apocalyptic threats.
If I did that, Shadow would probably be the one that comes from the Doom Dimension where he’s the crown prince of the Doom Empire (and Eclipse could be like his Marine)
Now that leaves who replaces Team Dark. It could be Blaze and Marine, but I think that’d be better for a different roleswap line-up. We need someone who connects with Eggman. I guess we could have Nega. We could have Starline, and that one might be the most interesting. We could— and hear me out—have Stone. Just saying!
Anyway! That’s my ideas for this particular roleswap. I might expand on it more. I might talk about another one. Who knows? Let me have this

Queer Book Recommendations!!
I haven't really read a book book in years. Due to money problems and a lack of free time, audiobooks and AO3 were a MUCH cheaper option for me. But now that I'm struggling to fully read text posts on Tumblr I realize my attention span is shot. Reading novels is helping me tune out and focus in again. So I'm turning to queer novels written by my 'queer elders'.
For anyone who is struggling to get back into long form content after reading Fic for years, I highly recommend the books of TJ KLUNE (summaries of what I've read under the break).
If you are a fan of the 'escaping a shitty life and being welcomed into a found family' fanworks, this is the writer for you! All his stories center on home and feeling welcomed and loved. Of middle age and finding out who you are. Of finding love for others and yourself. He makes you hunger for that type of romantic and platonic love where people just know the real you. His stories also float by so quickly, there are so many things he does that I want to emulate his writing into my work.
Someone on Tumblr described the romances as: “what if a real life disney prince fell in love with the human equivalent of a wet paper bag?” and I agree 100%. All his protagonists are just like that, and I love them all.
(Also, this man definitely had an office job he hated, and writes office work culture as a death sentence in every one of his novels and I love it).
If you have any queer novels you love, don't be afraid to leave me a recommendation! (Especially WLW that isn't 'One Last Stop')
Tumblr media
HAVE READ: The House in the Cerulean Sea : [An amazing love fantastical found family story (with a hint of romance)! I listened to the audiobook on Audible and absolutely loved it! I can't wait for the sequel coming out next year.]
Linus Baker is a lonely case worker for a governmental organization which manages orphaned kids who are magical beings.
One day, he's given a secret assignment to assess a special orphanage on the island of Marsyas, run by a man named Arthur Parnassus, who has secrets of his own. Among the six unique children living there, one of them is Lucy, short for Lucifer, who just happens to be the Antichrist.
Despite his initial reservations, as Linus's days pass in Marsyas, in this idyllic setting among a coterie of magical children, Linus finds himself coming across a little romance, an unlikely family and possibly even a home.
Currently Reading: Under the Whispering Door. [I know this is going to be heartbreaking, but I'm loving it, only on page 50/373. Will likely post something vague about how it made me cry lol]
When a reaper comes to collect Wallace Price from his own funeral, Wallace suspects he really might be dead.
Instead of leading him directly to the afterlife, the reaper takes him to a small village. On the outskirts, off the path through the woods, tucked between mountains, is a particular tea shop, run by a man named Hugo. Hugo is the tea shop's owner to locals and the ferryman to souls who need to cross over.
But Wallace isn't ready to abandon the life he barely lived. With Hugo's help, he finally starts to learn about all the things he missed in life.
When the Manager, a curious and powerful being, arrives at the tea shop and gives Wallace one week to cross over, Wallace sets about living a lifetime in seven days.
Planning on reading: In The Lives of Puppets(The book is on my shelf).
In a strange little home built into the branches of a grove of trees, live three robots—fatherly inventor android Giovanni Lawson, a pleasantly sadistic nurse machine, and a small vacuum desperate for love and attention. Victor Lawson, a human, lives there too. They’re a family, hidden and safe.
The day Vic salvages and repairs an unfamiliar android labelled “HAP,” he learns of a shared dark past between Hap and Gio–a past spent hunting humans.
When Hap unwittingly alerts robots from Gio’s former life to their whereabouts, the family is no longer hidden and safe. Gio is captured and taken back to his old laboratory in the City of Electric Dreams. So together, the rest of Vic’s assembled family must journey across an unforgiving and otherworldly country to rescue Gio from decommission, or worse, reprogramming.
Along the way to save Gio, amid conflicted feelings of betrayal and affection for Hap, Vic must decide for himself: Can he accept love with strings attached?

What if characters from Pixar and Disney/cartoons on Disney Channel/Disney+/Disney Now were in Danganronpa?
And what if America built their own bootleg version of Hope's Peak?
We'll call this bootleg "Beacon Heights institute" where, just like at Hope's Peak, scouts will locate the exceptionally talented — the best of the best in their field — and invite them to enroll to their school. Tuition is free like Hope's Peak.
The literal translation of "Beacon Heights" could be interpreted as "a guiding light at great heights".
Or: "Guiding youth's light to the highest potential."
Choose your pick.
(Instead of Monokuma as the robo-mascot, it is a robot named Monomouse.)
The "Ultimate" roster (I tried to select characters based on plausibility of existing in the same universe):
Marco (SVTFOE, early seasons) - Ultimate Karateka (He feels he doesn't deserve to be an ultimate because he isn't a black belt. However, he has developed his own style of karate, which makes him the Ultimate Karateka in his own right, despite still being a red belt. He believes "Ultimate (interdimensional) Adventurer" would have suited him better.)
Miguel (coco, post-movie) - Protag - Ultimate Guitarist (Scouted at a summer music festival.)
Hiro (big hero 6, post-movie, pre-show) - investigation partner/ main confidant in chapter 3 and onward - Ultimate Inventor (Scouted for inventing the Neurotransmitter.)
Mei (turning red, post-movie) - Ultimate Enthusiast (scouted for her boundless enthusiasm. Idk what else it could be.)
Riley (inside out, post-movie) - Ultimate Ice hockey player
Adrian (miraculous, season 2) - Ultimate Model
Isabella (Phineas and Ferb) - Ultimate Girl Scout leader
Randy (RC:9GN) - Ultimate Ninja
Molly (TGAMM, post-show) - Ultimate Enhapifier (Main confidant for chapter 1 and 2)
Andrea (TGAMM, post-show): Ultimate Influencer (her parents had invested in the Beacon Heights school on the condition she become an ultimate. She's aware of her parent's investment, but not that the only way she got enrolled in the school was through them.)
Chloe (miraculous, season 2): Ultimate Heiress (Let's be real — She would force her father to buy her that talent so she could go with Adrian to the school.)
Hunter (TOH, post-show) - Ultimate Wood Carver
Marcy (Amphibia, post-show) - Ultimate role player (She got really into Dungeons, Dungeons & More Dungeons after her Amphibia adventure came to a close. After a while of playing for fun, she decided she wanted to play it competitively to challenge herself. She registered for the D, D & More D tournament and has never lost a once. Her reputation as the top player caught the attention of BH. At the school, she wears her Chief of the Newtopian night guard outfit, or at the very least something like it. She also wears a wrist-mounted crossbow prop. The school administrators confiscated her real one.)
Janna (SVTFOE, early seasons) - Ultimate Occultist (runs a detailed blog or website all about the occult)
All these students are of high school age. There's a reason the killing game starts with 14 characters. Subplot mystery shit.
It turns to 15 when someone breaks into the school in chapter 2. Who? Why, it's none other than...
Kim Possible!
Kim (KP, post-show) - 40 yrs old - Ultimate Crime Fighter (The Future Foundation hired Kim to infiltrate the school and end the globally broadcast killing game. It doesn't go according to plan as she's forced by Monomouse to take part in the very thing she was tasked to stop.)
What do you think about this idea, about their talents? How do you think these characters would interact? Who would be a killer and victim, and who would survive?
What motives would there be?
I have titled this fangan "Danganronpa: Murder Mystery Mayhem."
Also, Miguel, Chloe and Adrian are transfer students.

AYAYAY!! A GIFT FOR A SPECIAL FRIEND
Hey @elline! ay ay, look at the food I cooked for you. Just look. A drawing of Leshynold/Greese (I hope they explode) + Fanfic !
Tumblr media
The soft hum of Gerald’s drone echoed through the dense woodland as he maneuvered it between the towering trees of the New York forest. His fingers danced over his tablet, eyes locked onto the live feed. He wasn’t supposed to be here—his robotics professor had warned him about wandering too deep into the wilderness. But something about this place called to him, and as a programmer, he had never been one to ignore his curiosity.
Then, the drone’s camera flickered.
For a second, static overtook the screen, and when it cleared, Gerald caught a glimpse of something—or someone. A figure stood between the trees, partially hidden by the dense foliage. Their skin was earthen, their eyes wide with wonder, and from their head extended massive antlers, tangled with moss and vines.
Gerald’s breath hitched.
The drone whirred as he guided it closer, but before he could get a better look, a gust of wind sent it tumbling down. The feed cut to black.
“Damn it,” he muttered, already setting off to retrieve his device.
When he found it, however, he wasn’t alone.
The figure stood a few feet away, watching him with open curiosity. Up close, they were even more surreal—long, wild hair cascaded over their shoulders, their pointed ears twitched slightly, and their dark green sweater looked oddly modern for someone who seemed so… primal.
Leshy blinked. “Strange.”
Gerald swallowed hard. “You mean me?”
Leshy nodded slowly. “Not forest.”
Gerald frowned. “I’m… a person.”
Leshy tilted their head. “Person?” They sniffed the air. “Metal. Lightning.”
Gerald shifted uncomfortably. “I build things. Robots, AI systems. Anything with a circuit, really.”
Leshy’s eyes widened. “Machines?”
Gerald hesitated. Leshy was unlike anything he had encountered before, but they weren’t threatening—just deeply, genuinely curious. Still, something about the situation made him uneasy.
“I should go,” he said, backing away.
Leshy took a step forward, tilting their head. “Go?”
Gerald sighed. “Yeah. Back home.”
Leshy hesitated, then took another step. “Come.”
Gerald’s heart pounded. “Uh… I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
Leshy’s lips parted slightly. “Want to see.”
Gerald exhaled sharply, unsure whether he should feel flattered or terrified. Regardless, when he turned to leave, he could hear the quiet rustle of footsteps following him.
And for the first time in his life, the inventor felt like the one being studied.
Gerald walked faster than usual, his heart still pounding as he made his way out of the forest. He told himself he wouldn't look back, but curiosity won out. A quick glance over his shoulder confirmed his suspicion—Leshy was following him. The forest creature moved with silent steps, eyes fixed on Gerald, their head tilting slightly with every motion he made. It was unnerving, but something about their fascination felt oddly… harmless. “You don’t have to follow me,” Gerald muttered, more to himself than to Leshy. Leshy blinked. “Want to see.” Gerald sighed, tightening his grip on his drone. “There’s nothing to see. The city’s not like the forest.” Leshy hummed softly. “City… strange?” Gerald hesitated before answering. “Yeah. Loud. Fast. Nothing like this place.” He motioned toward the trees surrounding them. Leshy didn’t seem deterred. If anything, their curiosity only grew. They trotted closer, their movements fluid, as if the forest itself carried them forward. Gerald shivered at the thought. By the time they reached the outskirts of the woods, civilization loomed ahead. The distant glow of streetlights painted the horizon, and the distant hum of cars filled the air. Leshy stopped walking, their nose twitching. They stared at the city with wide eyes. “Bright.” Gerald raised an eyebrow. “Yeah. Not a fan?” Leshy blinked slowly, then took a careful step forward, their fingers grazing the rough bark of a nearby tree as if grounding themselves. Gerald suddenly felt a twinge of guilt. “Look, you probably shouldn’t—” But before he could finish, Leshy took another step, then another. Then they were beside him, waiting. “Go?” they asked simply. Gerald exhaled. He was supposed to be the one in control here. But as he stood there, faced with a strange, innocent creature that had decided to follow him into the unknown, he realized he had already lost. “…Fine. But don’t touch anything.” Leshy smiled—soft, curious, and entirely too trusting. Gerald had the uneasy feeling that he was in for a long night.
The city swallowed them whole. Gerald kept his pace steady, pretending that having Leshy trailing him through the crowded streets wasn’t the weirdest thing he’d ever experienced. People barely spared them a glance—New York City had a way of numbing people to the strange and unexpected. But Gerald knew better. He could feel Leshy’s presence at his side, their wide eyes flicking from blinking billboards to honking cars to the steam rising from grates. Leshy stayed close, moving carefully, as if the pavement might crumble under their feet. When a cab blared its horn, they flinched, gripping Gerald’s sleeve. “Loud,” they muttered. Gerald sighed. “Told you.” They kept walking. Neon lights reflected in Leshy’s dark eyes, the towering buildings stealing their breath away. Gerald wasn’t sure why he hadn’t tried to lose them yet. Maybe because he knew Leshy wouldn’t stop following him anyway. Then, they stopped. Leshy’s nose twitched, their gaze fixed on a small food cart at the street corner. Smoke curled from the griddle, the scent of grilled meat hanging in the air. Their stomach let out a soft, audible growl. Gerald groaned. “You’re hungry now?” Leshy blinked up at him. “Smells… warm.” Gerald ran a hand down his face. This was ridiculous. He had no idea what Leshy even ate—moss? Tree bark? But the expectant way they looked at the food cart made it clear they weren’t leaving until they got a taste. With a resigned sigh, he dug into his pocket and approached the vendor. “One hot dog,” he muttered, slapping some bills onto the counter. The man handed it over, eyeing Leshy as they stared at the foil-wrapped meal like it contained the secrets of the universe. Gerald unwrapped it halfway and held it out. Leshy took it slowly, sniffing it before giving a cautious bite. Their eyes widened. “…Soft,” they murmured, chewing thoughtfully. “Salty. Hot.” Gerald couldn’t help but snort. “Yeah, that’s kinda the point.” Leshy smiled, small and content. They took another bite, humming softly in approval. Gerald sighed, shoving his hands into his pockets. “You better not expect me to feed you forever.” Leshy just kept eating, gaze flickering back to the towering skyline, wonder never leaving their face. Gerald had the sinking feeling that this was only the beginning.
The subway ride back to Gerald’s apartment was… an experience. Leshy had never been underground before, let alone inside a metal box speeding through tunnels. Their wide eyes darted from the flickering lights to the map above the doors, their fingers gripping the edge of Gerald’s jacket. Every time the train jolted, they tensed, ears twitching at the sound of screeching metal. Gerald noticed. “Hey,” he said, voice softer than usual. “You’re okay. It’s just the subway.” Leshy looked up at him, blinking. “…Fast.” “Yeah, but safe.” Gerald offered a small smile. “Well, mostly safe.” Leshy still looked uneasy, but they nodded, holding onto his sleeve instead. Gerald didn’t brush them off. When they finally reached his stop, Gerald led them up the stairs and onto the street. The city lights reflected in Leshy’s wide eyes, but they followed closely without hesitation. Gerald’s apartment wasn’t extravagant despite his wealth—just a clean, well-kept space with shelves full of books and electronics. When they stepped inside, the warmth of the heater made Leshy pause. “…Feels nice.” Gerald smirked. “Better than the subway?” Leshy nodded, walking in slowly. They trailed their fingers along the couch, the table, then stopped at the fridge. They pressed a hand against it, feeling the faint hum of the motor. “It’s just cooling the food,” Gerald explained. Leshy pulled their hand away. “Machines… everywhere.” “Yeah.” Gerald leaned against the counter, watching them. “But you’re not used to that, huh?” Leshy shook their head. “Forest. Home. is quiet.” Gerald hummed. “Yeah. I guess it is.” For a while, Leshy just explored, poking at things with innocent curiosity. Gerald let them. He found himself watching, answering when they looked at him with questioning eyes. At one point, Leshy stopped in front of a small, boxy appliance on the counter. They glanced at Gerald. “…What is?” “That?” Gerald pressed a button, and the microwave beeped to life. The light inside glowed as the turntable spun. Leshy took a step back, eyes wide. “…Magic?” Gerald snorted. “Technology.” Leshy inched closer, watching with fascination. “Small fire… in a box.” “It’s heating food.” Gerald opened the door to show them. “No fire. Just… waves.” Leshy frowned slightly, as if that made even less sense. But after a moment, they grinned. “Magic.” Gerald sighed, shaking his head with amusement. “Sure. Magic.” Satisfied, Leshy wandered back to the living room, settling cross-legged on the floor. They gazed up at Gerald, thoughtful. “…You’re kind.” Gerald blinked. “Huh?” Leshy smiled, small and sincere. “You let me stay.” Gerald scratched the back of his head, looking away. “Yeah, well… you’re not exactly easy to turn away.” Leshy let out a soft laugh, and for some reason, Gerald found himself smiling too. Maybe bringing Leshy home wasn’t such a bad idea after all.
After their small tour of the apartment, Gerald stretched and let out a long sigh. "Alright. It's late. I need to sleep." Leshy, who had been poking at the microwave again, perked up. "Sleep?" Gerald raised an eyebrow. "You do sleep, right?" Leshy tilted their head, thinking. "Sometimes. In the forest. When the trees rest." Gerald blinked. He wasn’t even going to try and unpack that. "Well, humans need sleep every night, and I’m human, so…" He gestured vaguely toward the hallway. "I’m going to bed." Leshy nodded, as if accepting this as a reasonable concept. "Where do I?" Gerald hesitated. He hadn't really thought that far ahead. "Uh…" He looked at the couch. "You can sleep there, I guess?" Leshy wandered over and pressed a hand against the cushions. Their antlers dipped slightly as they leaned down, sniffing the fabric. "…Soft." "Yeah, that’s kind of the point." Gerald rubbed the back of his neck. "I can get you a blanket or something—" Before he could finish, Leshy flopped onto the couch. They curled up instantly, limbs tucked in like a resting deer. Their long hair spilled over the cushions, and their antlers barely missed knocking over a lamp. Gerald stared. "…That works." Leshy blinked at him sleepily. "Your home… safe." Gerald let out a small chuckle. "Yeah, well. Don’t get too comfortable. I’m still figuring out what to do with you." Leshy just hummed, eyes half-lidded. "Mmh… Gerald is kind." Gerald scoffed, walking toward his bedroom. "Yeah, yeah. Go to sleep, magic deer." Before closing the door, he glanced back one last time. Leshy was already still, their breathing slow and steady. Gerald sighed and shook his head. "What the hell am I doing?" And yet, as he climbed into bed, he couldn’t quite bring himself to regret it.
Gerald woke up to the sound of something… scraping. He groaned, rubbing his eyes. His apartment was usually quiet in the morning, save for the occasional hum of his electronics. But this—this was an odd, rhythmic noise, like something was being dragged across the floor. Still half-asleep, he threw on a hoodie and shuffled into the living room. Leshy was crouched on the floor, a kitchen chair flipped on its side in front of them. They were running their fingers along the wooden legs, completely absorbed in their task. Gerald stared. "…What are you doing?" Leshy looked up, eyes bright. "Tree." "…What?" Leshy patted the chair as if that explained everything. "Tree. But… wrong shape." Gerald blinked. "It's furniture." Leshy nodded. "Yes. Tree, but trapped. Shaped." Their fingers traced the grain of the wood. "Still remembers forest." Gerald didn't have enough brain power to process this at checks clock seven in the morning. "Okay. Sure. You… talk to chairs now. Great." Leshy grinned. "Not talk. Listen." Gerald exhaled, walking into the kitchen to start coffee. "Alright, well, maybe let the chair rest or whatever and eat something instead." Leshy stood up, stepping closer to watch as Gerald moved around the kitchen. "Food?" "Yeah, food. You do eat, right?" Gerald opened the fridge, pulling out some leftovers from last night. Leshy peered inside, their expression shifting between curiosity and uncertainty. "…Cold cave?" Gerald sighed. "It's a fridge." He grabbed a plate, then, on impulse, put it in the microwave. When the machine beeped to life, Leshy lit up. "Magic box!" Gerald smirked. "Yep. Your favorite magic box." Leshy leaned in, watching the plate spin. "Still no fire…" They glanced at Gerald. "Humans strange." "Yeah, well, I could say the same about you." Leshy grinned, eyes sparkling. Gerald shook his head, setting the warmed-up plate in front of them. "Here. Try this." Leshy took a bite, then paused, considering the taste. Their ears twitched. "…Good." "Glad to hear it," Gerald muttered, sipping his coffee. For a while, they ate in comfortable silence. Gerald had no idea what he was doing, letting some ancient forest spirit crash on his couch and microwave their breakfast. But when Leshy smiled at him between bites, looking completely at peace, Gerald figured— Maybe he didn’t mind.

Well, I gots the main cast of this bloody swap au all set and done HEHEHEHE
And now to introduce you to them one by one
Tumblr media
Telliberry Cookie - A thief that was born in a poverish town. In order to support her home and family, she began going into neighboring towns and cities in an attempt to gather materials needed for survival. Eventually, though, she became hateful towards the rich and luxurious who pawned off the suffering of those like her, and so took to stealing their wealth and pride to give to her struggling town. One day, she stole something from the wrong guy, who arranged for her to be kidnapped and then imprisoned for god knows how long, enduring torture near constantly to the point where they tore one of her arms off all because of one item. While there, she formed a friendship with the nearby crows that would come and slip through the bars, offering them the small amounts of food she was given despite starving to death, which eventually paid off as they managed to free her from her prison and helped her escape. Now with her new corvid companions, she could be able to find all the resources she wanted for her struggling town, hoping to one day give the friends and family she grew up with the paradise they deserve.
Tumblr media
Crepe Yasan Cookie - The result of an inventor attempting to create a cookie robot with a heart. They lived most of their life sheltered and when they eventually convinced their parental figure to allow them social interaction with others, they were outcasted and made fun of for their robotic nature. It got to a point where they accidentally activated a self-defense mechanism and nearly crumbled somebody. This very action caused them to be hunted down, not for their violent act, but for the raw and unique power they wielded, and for their safety, their inventor had to abandon them far away in the woods. Now living as a loner, they managed to make a living off of being a wandering mechanics, visiting places and making repairs before leaving onto the next area. They hope to one day be able to finally settle down in a place that could accept them.
Tumblr media
Long Hu Feng Cookie - LHF was once comprised of three animals, a snake, a chicken, and a cat. These three animals were the beloved familiars of a witch who was still practicing in making living cookies. One by one, though, the familiars died of natural causes and the witch was devastated, so much that she decided to try and bring her beloved companions back with the baking magic she was given. She did something wrong, however, instead of managing to create 3 individual cookies, she managed to create one singular cookie, made with the remnants of her feral familiars. Even moreso, the cookie did not at all recognize the witch and had its own consciousness. Rather then being upset though, the witch decided to keep the cookie as her own familiar, one that managed to excel in terms of her late friends from the magical prowess it showed. Eventually, it wished to go and explore the world, see what other kinds of magic existed there, and so the witch allowed it, granting it a single silver spoon to use as a magic wand so that they could always be together. With the promise of returning after it has discovered everything Earthbread could offer, Long Hu Feng ventured out in search of new wonders.
Tumblr media
Ginger Cake Cookie - He was a creation of a witch much like LHF. Unlike it, however, he was made to be eaten, being forced to run and flee from his creator in order to increase his tastiness. After countless days of trying to survive, he would end up soon rebelling against his tormentor, managing to convince the cakehounds that were made to chase him into fighting the witch, not only earning his but their freedom as well. Wielding a cake knife, he and his pack managed to successfully escape the witch and escape out into Earthbread. Now with the whole world to discover, Ginger Cake journeys with his army of Cakehounds for a place to call home, where they never have to fear being eaten ever again.

Cream Tea Cookie - The current president of the Creme Republic, who's currently on leave due to being on a very specific mission. That mission being to seek out the Five Auspicious Beasts and their Soul Jams in order face against a dabger to the entirety of Earthbread. Accompanied by his soldiers and equipped with his trusty compass, he hopes to accomplish his goal and save his homeland from the sovereign light that threatens everyone he knows and loves.
Due to fateful encounters that tied these five together, these cookies will band together on a journey across Beast-Yeast. With all their skills combine, they will be able to conquer any obstacles that gets in their way of obtaining their goals.
That Goal being to one day find a Kingdom. A Kingdom of Hope.

What is the best quality of art each of the dice could make, and what's their art style :0
HMMMM DEPENDS WHATS CONSIDERED ART…
Warrior’s no good at drawing (he can do stick figures n that’s it) but he knows how to smith!!! He’s made several of his own weapons n armor stuff before, he’s gotten quite good at it. He also knows how to braid hair really well :]
Thief is more of a chef/baker than a drawer, but he’s decent at sketching faces. Think, like, police drawings of a suspect, or official drawings of courtroom proceedings. He’s heavy on the realism, but also heavy on gesture- he captures the essence of a person, what you’d notice at a glance. It’s very neat. Other than that he can draw floor plans/rough blueprints/a passable map in a pinch, but that’s it.
Robot’s artistic skill very much manifests in organization, writing, coding, and web design. Their room looks so pleasingly put together, they write lovely research papers, and design AMAZING websites!!! But the actual art/drawing aspect of graphic design isn’t her forte X]
Inventor draws FAST AND FURIOUS and charcoal is one of her favorite things to use!!!! But she’ll use literally anything if she needs to, she’s used motor oil and grease on multiple occasions. She’s got a very sharp, harsh angled, and snappy style- think concept art for vehicles and such in movies. She’s ok at drawing people and living things (she’s especially fond of drawing plants), but her interest mostly lies in the mechanical and chemical. She designs all of her own inventions, after all!!!
Which has a very cutesy style! She’s good at bubble letters and smiley faces and cute silly doodles of critters being encouraging ^^ nothing huge or super polished, she uses it like embellishments to make things a little more fun. If you asked her abt makeup artistry, though, THATS her whole JAM!!! She’s SO SO SKILLED AT IT and she’s always up for learning more/finding new techniques <3
Jester does not draw. They make origami. Sometimes they’ll embellish finished origami with little designs, but for the most part they like to work only with paper and their hands. Their favorite thing to make is a crane, but they can make a lot of different creatures and shapes.
Beast, of course, is a wood burning artist! She also uses her own claws to scratch lines and make designs, and she’s been doing it from a pretty young age. She quite enjoyed storybook illustrations, so her style can lean a bit cartoony, but it’s not without its prickles and sketchy/heavy lines. She’s very big on replicating and playing with textures in her art. She doesn’t exactly have proper “canvas” (aka logs) to work with in the dungeons, so she hasn’t gotten to do any proper art there. Not yet, anyway. She misses it.

Hiya, I'm your secret skeleton!
Saw your message in the discord about refs and I'm wondering if you could perhaps give me a detailed description of what you specifically had in mind visually, it'll be greatly appreciated!^^
Also best of luck with your own secret skeleton gift!(。・ω・。)ノ✧*。
Hello my spooky little friend! Such an honour to have you here!
I'm so excited to get to work on my own, but first I made this for you!
I did everything in bullet points so it’s easier to comb through :3
Also I've included some mentions of how the character interacts with the reader, but if adding a reader/insert isn’t your style, feel free to ignore it.
KingOfHearts!Eclipse:
Colour scheme is Red, white, and black.
He wears an expensive, but not crazy-looking suit. He has a minimalistic vibe to him.
His rays are sharp, with smaller ones in between. Red that tapers off into bold white at the ends.
The crescent part is red. The shadowed part of his face is still shadowed though it holds a navy hue— or dark red if that looks better (if it is art. Colour theory is my enemy lol)
He has white eyeliner under his eye to make it pop. He has white littered around his design to make him stand out so he’s not just red and black.
He has hearts littered around his design (I don’t have placement ideas yet)
Personality wise he’s very full of himself. Thinks he’s above everyone else— and to a degree, he is. Ready to behead someone for glancing at him.
Everyone fears him and his dark grin.
He loves his tarts. So much so he won’t let anyone else eat them
He enjoys the reader, though he refuses to call them anything but Alice— which the reader isn’t a fan of. He will flatter the reader in the midst of screaming at a guard for sneezing. The reader can do nothing but distract him so he doesn’t behead any poor fool.
MadHatter!Sun:
Colour scheme is yellow, red, and green.
Everything about him is uneven from his lopsided smile to his bent hat. Any holes in his clothing were sewn up by cloth patches that clearly don’t match the original material.
He has a big bow tie and large hat!
For the rest of his design, I’ve included the mad hatter picture for the Alice in wonderland live-action movie! I think it suits him decently
He more or less looks like Sun but in mad hatter cosplay lol.
He is goofy, and according to the King!Eclipse, an idiot.
But he is far from stupid. He loves playing tricks and asking riddles. He enjoys baking and is quite the inventor of new foods for his parties.
He is delighted to have the reader join him for tea! So much so he doesn’t want them to leave!
He is definitely off the wall.
Cheshire!Moon:
Colour scheme is purple, blue, and silver.
Sometimes he’s just eyes and a sharp-toothed grin. Other times he’s a robot, somehow lounging in a tree that shouldn’t support his weight.
His grin is too wide, stretching just past his cheeks. Due to this, his mouth can unhinge.
His pupils are cat-like, full of mischievousness.
He has ears and a tail. Striped to match the Cheshire cat. His ears poke out of holes in his hat.
He lacks his shirt but has goofy, fluffy pyjama pants.
His face is mostly the same outside of the cat stuff. The colour is all the same, save for more purple shades and purple accents.
I found a picture that encapsulated the creepiness of the characters! You may also use it as a colour ref if it's helpful!
He is a trickster like his brother, but more of a mean one. He loves temping people down the wrong path in the woods, making jokes and comments that make ones skin crawl— or thats the spider he dropped on you.
He loves to play, and always takes it too far.
He visits both of his brothers— when Eclipse will let him. And enjoys company.
He has made it his sole purpose in life to taunt and bother the reader while secretly keeping them from the dangers of wonderland.
Original/Normal!DCA
If any of the descriptions/personalities above don’t work for you, I would love to see your take on the DCA during this festive season! Have fun with it! All I ask is they're doing something spooky :3
I have monster designs too if you're interested in those. This is just everything I got done before lunch.
I'll put this on Discord so you can easily find it. Let me know if you need anything else!
Helpful images below! (Though I will warn you, the Cheshire image is spooky. Honestly, It's like a jumpscare lol.)

46. In the Lives of Puppets, TJ Klune
Tumblr media
Owned?: No, library Page count: 458 My summary: Victor always knew he was different. The son of an android, raised in the woods with no other humans for company, he grew up tinkering with electronics and rescuing other robots from the scrapyards. But when a new android crosses his path, and a whale-like ship descends from the heavens, Victor must brave the outside world to find his father and understand who he is. He can't be the only human left…can he? My rating: 4/5 My commentary:
Puppets! TJ Klune is an author who's been on my radar since I read The House in the Cerulean Sea, a cute bit of urban fantasy based around a foster home for magical children. I've been meaning to read more of his fiction, but never quite got around to it until this landed in my lap. In The Lives of Puppets is a take on the Pinnochio story, except a little bit more dystopic and set in a robot apocalypse. It's the kind of fairytale narrative I like - clearly inspired by the source material, but not necessarily a retelling or adaptation, using the base story of the source material to craft a new tale with similar themes. It was really interesting and, despite a few hiccups, an incredibly engaging story that I enjoyed immensely.
Victor is a good character. Broadly heroic, devoted to the people (well, robots) in his life, makes smart decisions but isn't perfect. I did have one quibble, which is how clumsily his asexuality was introduced - Klune is himself asexual, but the narrative really wanted you to know that Victor is too, basically doing the narrative equivalent of turning to camera and telling you directly. It's not bad, it's just a bit fumbling. Otherwise, though, he's an engaging protagonist. What I find interesting about him is that, ultimately, he just wants himself and his family to survive - this isn't a 'save the world' plot, this is a story of a boy who wants to keep those he loves together and safe, even if his mission does end in him helping the world at large as a byproduct. He's moral, but he's also uncompromising about his goal, just a kid who wants his dad back no matter what, and I liked that about him.
This is a really interesting take on the core Pinnochio story. There's a few obvious nods here and there - the robot Authority's logo is a cat and a wolf, the airship is called the Terrible Dogfish and looks like a whale, Victor is helped by the Blue Fairy, that sort of thing. But the core story is different. There is no personification of the idea of conscience (well, sort of - I'll get to it), Victor is the only human in a world of automatons rather than the other way around, and the story is less a curious/impetuous boy learning morality and more a coming of age narrative that's also a struggle for survival. One thing that interests me is that exactly who the Pinocchio figure is can be debated. Sure, there's Victor, grown in a lab by a paternalistic inventor, but there's also Hap, the android Victor fixes and gives a heart to who struggles to find his humanity against his background of being a literal killing machine. In the latter reading, Victor is the Jiminy Cricket figure, giving Hap a sense of morality and pulling him back into humanity - as well as providing a moral centre for the other robots, the sociopathic Nurse Ratched and the neurotic Rambo. It's a nice blend because the narrative doesn't give you a straight answer or a straightforward analogue; it's more interested in telling the story that it's here to tell, which I very much admire.
And the theme of humanity runs deep in this novel. All of the characters bar Victor are robots, but they're still very human. Gio, Victor's dad, began life designing machines to kill humans - HARPs, like Hap - but wound up creating a human life almost as a penance for what he had done. Hap was made to kill, but wants to be something more, something better, after seeing life with Victor and the others. Even Nurse Ratched, who seems to despise all living things albeit in an apathetic kind of way, loves Victor and wants him to be happy, and wants to protect him no matter what. There's some interesting symbolism going on with materials; Hap and Gio have both been repaired using wood, because that's the best Victor and Gio had on hand. Them being part-organic isn't brought up in terms of their morality - like humans, every robot has the ability to be moral, they just don't necessarily do it because of their biases. Even the less moral robots are still people! And it would be so easy to demonise even the murderous robots as inhuman, but no, they're the same as Victor, they're just made of wires and metal. Humanity is what you do, not what you are. A good moral for a Pinocchio story.
Next up…I have no excuses to make. It's more FNaF.

TST!Sans And Papyrus
Finished the True Swap Tale skeleton brothers!
Tumblr media
I decided to switch their color palettes as it better fit with the flowers I chose for them
All the monsters, due to living on the surface and the earth being a lot better due to not having the problems it does because of humanity, have some sort of plant on them.
I chose Lily Of The Valley for Sans due to their symbolisms mixed with their poisonous nature. It's like Sans, he acts one way, and seems harmless, but is actually very deadly.
For Papyrus, I chose Bluebells for many reasons. One, it's from the same family as Lilies Of The Valley, humility, constancy, gratitude and everlasting love, and three blue flowers stand for desire, love, and the striving for the unreachable, which I think fits Papyus' personality perfectly.
Sans' personality is what we all know and love to an existent, but he is much healthier. Being on the surface did wonders for their mental health.
They work as a freelance inventor, making mainly small robots or wood work. He enjoys the freedom, and has a good following on social media to. Him and Alphys are really good friends, and she's usually the one who provides them the electronic parts for his inventions.
Papyrus also has a similar personality, but he isn't so much concerned with popularity. He has more friends, is known much more, and is a bit of a better cook-
He still has a desire to join the royal guard, but a bit more so, higher. He is a royal guard, but the lowest rank. He wants to become Undyne's 2nd hand. Undyne wants it too, but she doesn't want the other monsters to feel like he got the job just because he's her friend. Papyrus also doesn't, so he's working hard to make up for his lack of experience.
Sans is both demisexual and demiromantic, he has to be extremely close to someone to feel any sort of attraction. They're also bigender! that's one of the main reasons he wears hoodies, cause they always help with their gender dysphoria on bad days. For sexuality, they don't know. They haven't had many experiences due to his deminess- so they aren't sure what he likes.
Papyrus is on the asexual spectrum, he usually feels neutral about the topic. He's also panromantic! He gets crushes rather easy honestly.
These guys were really fun to do-

Christopher Walken in Brainstorm (Douglas Trumbull, 1983)
Cast: Christopher Walken, Natalie Wood, Louise Fletcher, Cliff Robertson, Jordan Christopher, Donald Hotton, Alan Fudge, Joe Dorsey, Bill Morey, Jason Lively, Georgianne Walken. Screenplay: Bruce Joel Rubin, Robert Stitzel, Philip Frank Messina. Cinematography: Richard Yuricich. Production design: John Vallone. Film editing: Freeman A. Davies, Edward Warschilka. Music: James Horner.
Brainstorm is a sci-tech thriller based on a premise familiar to the genre: Brilliant scientists come up with a breakthrough and face the threat that it will be misused by nefarious forces. In older films, the nefarious forces tended to be foreign ones, Nazis or Commies. Today, however, they usually come from our own corporate-military-industrial complex. Working together, Dr. Michael Brace (Christopher Walken) and Dr. Lillian Reynolds (Louise Fletcher) have created a way to transmit the brainwaves of one person to another, stimulating not only the visual and audible sensations but also the bodily ones -- respiratory, muscular, etc. The transmissions can also be recorded and stored. It's virtual reality gone whole hog, especially after Brace's wife, Karen (Natalie Wood), an industrial designer, comes up with a snazzy little headset. Brace and Reynolds are hopeful for all sorts of peaceful uses of the technology, but to get funding for it, they have to agree with the head of the corporation for which they work, Alex Terson (Cliff Robertson), that it can be shown to investors. And you know who has the money to fund such a project. The inventors are dismayed at the prospect of misuse, but they put up with it until the real dangers of the invention show up. A researcher records himself having an orgasm and gives it to another man who plays it on a loop, sending himself into a coma from the experience. And then Reynolds herself, a chain smoker, has a heart attack and dies, but not before hauling herself to the device and recording the experience. Brace discovers the tape and almost dies playing it before he's able to disconnect. Finding that the company has kept the tape and has actually killed someone with it and is experimenting with other malign uses for the technology, Brace and Karen team up to find ways to stop it. It's a worthy premise, but Trumbull, a noted special effects director making his first (and only) feature in the director's chair, encountered a perfect storm of difficulties, the chief of which was Natalie Wood's death in 1981. Wood's major scenes in Brainstorm had already been filmed, but MGM, which was in financial difficulties, pulled the plug on the project. Fortunately, the production was insured by Lloyd's of London, which stepped in and allowed Trumbull to complete the movie. Wood's sister, Lana, doubled for her in the remaining scenes. Still, Brainstorm was not a critical or commercial success. There's a funny sequence in which Brace causes the robots on the assembly line to go haywire, and Fletcher's performance is great. Wood is fine, but Walken, a specialist in offbeat characters, seems miscast. The subplot, which involves the Braces using the technology to communicate their feelings to each other and repair their fraying marriage, is tedious and sentimental. And the concluding sequence, in which we find out what Reynolds saw when she was dying, is almost inevitably a letdown.

Inside the Jugaad Contest: Tips for Creating a Winning Entry
Tumblr media
As entries begin to pour in for Mark Rober’s ₹50 Lakh Jugaad Contest, creative minds across India are turning household scraps into genius inventions. The contest, which runs from April 30 to September 15, 2025, is offering ₹5 lakh each to 10 standout inventors, encouraging participants to embrace India’s culture of Jugaad — the iconic blend of innovation, frugality, and street-smart problem-solving.
But what makes a winning entry? While the rules seem simple — create a video showcasing a clever invention using household items — understanding what Mark Rober and the judges are truly looking for could make all the difference between just another submission and one of the ten ₹5 lakh prizes.
At its core, the Jugaad Contest celebrates resourcefulness, practical problem-solving, and creative engineering. You don’t need an expensive workshop, professional tools, or a Ph.D. in robotics. What you need is originality, clarity in presentation, and a healthy dose of fun.
The first step in creating a winning entry is to identify a relatable problem. It could be something you face at home, school, or even while commuting. For example, turning a broken umbrella into a working phone stand during monsoon, or making a pet feeder from plastic bottles and spare wood. The idea is to take something small and solve it in a big, clever way.
Once you’ve zeroed in on the problem, focus on the design of your invention. The most successful Jugaad entries usually blend simplicity with functionality. Think of how your build works, whether it’s durable, and how efficiently it solves the problem. Your materials should ideally be things found around the house — cardboard, plastic containers, old toys, rubber bands, and even broken electronics.
However, the invention itself is only part of the challenge. How you present your idea matters just as much. Mark Rober is a content creator who tells stories through engineering. So your video should not only demonstrate your invention but also narrate your journey — the idea, the trial and error, the final solution. Show your audience the process, the challenges, and the excitement. That storytelling element is crucial.
Make sure your video is clear, well-lit, and easy to understand. Explain the purpose of your invention, how it works, and what materials were used. It doesn't need to be a cinematic masterpiece — a clean mobile phone video with good narration can win the contest if the idea is strong. Keep your tone enthusiastic, positive, and authentic.
Don’t forget the contest guidelines. Your video must be posted on Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), or YouTube, and it must include the hashtag #MarkRoberJugaad. Most importantly, your profile must be public, and you must submit the link of your post via the official contest website: www.markroberjugaad.com. Without this final step, your entry won’t be considered — no matter how brilliant it is.
For participants under the age of 18, remember that your parent or legal guardian must submit the entry on your behalf. The contest is open to all Indian residents aged 8 and above, making it one of the most inclusive innovation competitions to date.
What separates an ordinary entry from a winning one is the "wow" factor. Mark Rober, who became a global phenomenon with videos like the glitter bomb trap for porch pirates and the squirrel maze challenge, is looking for smart, fun, unexpected ideas. He’s known for blending engineering with entertainment, and he wants to see that same spirit in your Jugaad.
Rober’s fascination with Indian innovation stems from his admiration for how people here often do more with less. “India’s Jugaad culture is the most exciting form of innovation I’ve seen,” said Mark during a recent visit. “It’s real-world engineering with heart and humor, and I can’t wait to see what people come up with.”
In fact, Mark is already collaborating with top Indian YouTubers like Curly Tales, CarryMinati, Slaypoint, and TechBurner as part of his India visit. He’s also filming a special collaboration with cricketer Hardik Pandya, highlighting the vibrancy and creativity of Indian youth. This contest is an extension of that mission — to uncover and celebrate the hidden engineers in every home across the country.
The Jugaad Contest is not just about winning money. It’s about making, learning, and sharing. It’s about showing the world how Indian creativity thrives even in the most unexpected corners. And who knows? If your invention impresses Mark Rober enough, you might even be featured on one of his legendary YouTube videos — a reward that’s arguably more priceless than the cash prize.
So get building. Open that junk drawer, peek into your recycling bin, and let your imagination take charge. The contest closes on September 15, 2025, and the world is waiting to see what India’s next generation of inventors can do — with nothing more than a few scraps, a brilliant idea, and the spirit of Jugaad.

For the wip game, 'an unfashioned creature' sounds interesting? 👀 What is it about?
yay you picked an interesting one! hehee
an unfashioned creature is one of my original wips- it's a queer+polyamorous romance with gothic+fantasy elements and a fair bit of explicit content. overall very inspired by Dracula, hammer movie Frankenstein adaptations, a bit of Crimson Peak, Seanan McGuire's Wayward Children, the Edge Chronicles, etc. it's sitting at about 59k words, and it's maybe like... a third of the first draft?
Nikolai du Maurier returns home from university to discover that his fiancee has gone missing- months ago, even, and no-one thought to tell him. He finds out that, in the wake of her father's death, she packed her bags, won a castle in a game of cards, and fled the city.
Yannick Ward, lamplighter of Walvick, worries over the recent arrival to Stoskilde Castle. After the last inhabitant, a failing inventor named Vickers, was found dead, it'd be hard not to be concerned about such an odd, antisocial young lady moving in, more fixated on her robotic creations than in interacting with the town below.
Salomea Gowdin, a highly capable and arguably mad inventor, digs through old and scrapped projects, and finds an eerie shell of a robot- and starts to build something that might free her from the ever-irritating need for human contact.
A heart beats in the castle, remembering old pledges, neglected and ancient bargains.
And the magic of the Wild erodes the fading protections over the town, pushing against the crumbling walls of civilisation.
~~~
anyway thats basically a rough draft of the blurb of it lmfao. it's a big messy romance pile with Niko, Sal, Yannick and Wilde, the last of whom would not get mentioned in the blurb but is a Weird Magic Robot Person. Niko and Sal are childhood friends with some Unfortunate codependancy that blew up in their faces, Niko and Yannick get hit with the crush mallet p quickly as they travel together. emotionally everyone's a Fucking Mess too. Niko is struggling to have anyone in his life prioritise him and a relationship with him At All. Yannick is dealing with a lot of guilt as to a dereliction of a Family Duty. Sal builds robots so she never has to interact with humans again. Wilde is [REDACTED PLOT SPOILERS] just a chill normal robot dont worry abt it c:
the story is also about trolls going hey look there's no king in this land so we're now allowed to eat the townspeople yea? and yannick being no what the fuck and then they try to work out how to stop the magic forest starting to eat all of civilisation.
i really like the story but it's definitely a big sprawling mess, polyamorous romances are fucking hard to write, and either this story needs to be split up across a couple books or it's gonna be stupidly long. i'll get back to it one day it's just kinda shelved until i have more confidence in my polyam writing skills...
oh and it has Salt Wax's mother in it, Soot Wax. she lives in the woods and smokes goblin weed and yannick stops by now and then to stop her turning into a bear. she bullies niko a bit. it's fun!
