Charlie and Grizzly have spoken a bit about how the Undersea gods aren’t like, typical celestial godly figures but moreso just really big and really ancient creatures. We can also assume that they can in theory die.

Charlie mentioned in the Jonah Scott Rolled (#68 ~16 minutes in) that the Trench is loosely based off of a whale fall, so if an Undersea god was to die, would the population hold a celebration? This is getting really into headcanon territory, but I like to think that if an ancient god were to die, the power they accumulated goes back to the sea. The population may hold a celebration of life kind of festival, and maybe Gillion would’ve been expected to hold some kind of ceremony. Full circle moment.

Lunadeyis Tampers with the Timeline AU (theory?)

Basically: In the Original Prophecy, before Gillion was even born, Lunadeyis and Aster saw that Gillion would be the perfect champion to either unite or destroy the over and undersea. Originally, he was to be raised by his parents, learn the ferocity of his mother, the undying loyalty of her sharks, the gentleness and love that his father shows his plants, and the compassion from his sister. These were the makings of their champion.

However. The Elders became obsessed with the prophecy, and sought out the chosen one to raise him as their own champion. They took him from his parents when he was barely old enough to speak. Lunadeyis saw her Elders meddling in the prophecy but allowed it to happen for a while because she thought they had her champions best at heart. She was wrong, and he grew into a malleable weapon for the elders, knowing no love or gentleness is his heart. She sought for another way to teach him these virtues. She scoured all of mana for someone to teach him, and she came across two people. One, a rat bastard destined to die within the next three years. Starvation, probably, or winding up in a fight he couldnt handle. And a girl destined to live and die in her sister’s shadow, never the prodigal child. These two would never have anything going for them, no one to remember or care of their life or death. However, if she tweaked a few things, allowed the boy to live and the girl to emerge from her sisters shadow and choose her own freedom. Well, they’d be perfect to teach Gillion better about himself, about the compassion of the world, and the loyalty of a crew. She forced her hand into destiny, altered the lives of thousands, and cast Gillion out of the undersea so that he would learn.

Had the elders not gotten involved, and subsequently made Lunadeyis mess with the timeline, Jayson wouldn’t have been corrupted with power, the navy would still be a force of good, Ava would be alive, Lizzie would have never met her, Lizzie would have been the one to seek out the Black Rose instead of chip, Chip would have died at 17-18, the coup on zero would have never happened, etc.

And when the crew learns of this, it destroys them all, because Gillion learns that he was supposed to grow up with his family, without all of that trauma, and that in a sense this was all his fault. Chip would have died, never having amounted to anything, so hes happy that he got to live, but at what cost? And jay? Oh Jay’s fucking *gutted*. Ava died a needless death because of this. She lost her sister, when that was never her destiny, but if she hadnt lost her, she would have never met the people she also loves or lived the life that freed her.

And when Chip tells Lizzie about it later? She’s the only person that is happy about any of it. If loving Ava meant losing her, then Lizzie would lose her a thousands times over just to experience that love. And as much as the Death of Ava hurt her, she’s grateful that Chip lived.

Thinking about how Gillion would compare Chip to the sun.

Thinking about how he’d look at Chip and realise that he was a child of Aster the same way Gillion was of Lunadeyis.

Thinking about how he’d see the freckles across Chip’s cheeks and body, and be convinced, surely at first, that they were his own set of stars. How he’d have it explained that it were marks from rays of sunlight, and realise quickly that it was a gift from the goddess herself. How he’d compare it to his own markings, the blue and orange stripes over his own flesh.

Thinking about how Gillion is so connected to the water, and how he’s helped Chip slowly embraced his fire. The way they reflect and balance each-other, so much like the sun and moon. Gillion would notice too, Chip might try to ignore the thought.

Thinking about the poetry Gillion might’ve read, the sun and the moon’s tragic romance. Maybe he’d see connections between them, relate a little, find a strange sense of power in proving them wrong, in holding Chip and Jay close besides their differences. Maybe he’d worry that destiny would tear them apart too.

Thinking about how Gillion would talk to the moon, to Lunadeyis, recalling stories and telling her about his companions. There’d never be any reply, but he figured it would be lonely where she was, watching from the sky. He hoped it might bring her some comfort, he hoped she was watching.

wait so do people in the trench worship lunadeyis primarily or the leviathans. i always assumed they primarily worshipped the leviathans and not lunadeyis, but that might be something i made up in my head and accepted as truth

saw kat on twitter post their version of Aster and Lunadeyis so hey - that means I should post mine too!!!

Lunadeyis, I always imagined her as white and looming like white diamond from SU, but more smooth like water and not as sharp. she has a sleeveless tank with similar markings to gillion’s and arm-long artist’s gloves. her hair is smooth at the top but waves out like a shoreline near the bottom. She has a studious/thoughtful expression.

Aster. I Imagined her form sharper like yellow diamond, her color scheme similar too like the earth’s core. her clothes are more loose and flowy to fit with what land people would wear typically. She also has arm length gloves that show her acrylic nails (her and malice probably had girl nights). her hair is a soft afro thats round-shapen to appear similar to the sun. she has a confident/assertive expression.

When I think of them I imagine that at one point, they were simply childhood friends in a quiet village. :)
