Gift

Gale has always been a giver whether it was his help, words or gifts to most people. he always tried to give when he can. So it was no wonder that this trait of his becomes much more intense if the target of his giving is his beloved. What was already bountiful care and help he gave has increased tenfold.

Indulgent trinkets and pastries on the road turned into luxurious of gifts when Gale and Aoide finally settled in Gale’s tower in Waterdeep.

Almost everyday Gale presented Aoide with gift. It ranged from from jewelry, delicate silks to rare tomes. At first, Aoide found it incredibly charming and flattering to be spoiled through extravagant gifts but it quickly became a bit too much for Aoide who lived most of her life as a simple druid.

Aoide finally had to tell Gale to calm down to with his gifts. He doesn’t have to court her anymore as she already loves him and she didn’t fall in love with him because of what he could offer but for who he is.

Of course, Gale wouldn't be the man she fell in love if he didn't listen to her.

Gale promised to stop giving her such extravagant gifts with such frequency but still he insisted on showing his love for her in different ways. A warm breakfast in bed, a ripe sweet fruit presented to her when he comes home, a kiss every morning before he leaves for class and poetry in bed. Aoide reciprocated all thisall in her own ways too. A drawn bath for him when he gets home, his favorite flowers all over the tower, Tara being spoiled and his favorite blend of tea always prepared on his desk

After a while, Gale finally figures out the perfect gifts that he can give to Aoide that she will rarely admonish him for its extravagance. Magical artefacts that he enchanted.

It also takes time for him to enchant items thus giving him the right amount of leeway between gifts but it also always makes a bright smile bloom on

Aoide’s face when she cradles his gift, his magic, in her hands. For all the years he has practiced magic, nobody has looked his magic the same way Aoide looks at his magic as she did.

Full of care, wonder and love.

It didn’t matter if the item was only a silly bauble by most wizards standards. She loved every magical gift he gave with all her heart. As if those small trinkets was him himself because it contained a piece of his magic.

“Thank you, Love” she would always softly tell him after she was done staring in awe at whatever artefact he gave her.

So, continued Gale’s gifts of magical artefacts.

After a few decades, Aoide has amassed a collection of magical items from Gale. Some a bit of a miss like an orb of light that was for her indoor plants that burnt her plants and blinded Aoide for a day. While some became her favorites, like a music box that projects Aoide and Gale dancing.

While Aoide’s collection grew in number, so did the greys in Gale’s hair. Until finally his once dark brown locks that only had hints of grey became fully silver.

The gifts started to wane after this while but Aoide didn’t mind since Gale was getting older and she would prefer that Gale spend time with her rather than tinkering at a new trinket to give to her.

Gifts that were almost an daily occurence became weekly then monthly that is until the day came which Aoide only recieved was grief and loss.

Though it wasn’t over. Gale, the gentleman that he was, wasnt done with his gifts. On the day of his death Aoide recieved his last gift.

A locket enchanted to project Gale’s last words.

"I love you"

P.S. For more angst imagine your Tav in bed and holding the necklace while listening to Gale's I love yous on repeat (like a voicemail) since this is the only way for Tav to hear Gale's voice again
