This has been a fun few months. Made it through a wreck, buying a used car from my sister and fixing it up enough to run, and then the tornado that fucked Rogers on Memorial Day.

Not long after 200k on the new car - it started to make a rattling noise from the engine area. Thought it was a belt wheel or the timing belt itself. Nope, it was something inside the block like a bearing or piston that broke loose on my way home on June 10th.

Car is fixable but it took time to find a mechanic (all busy dealing with post-tornado business boom) that determined it'd be best to replace the engine block - estimated cost for the 100k mile 'new' engine, labor and taxes is around $5400 right now. So I gots a loan to pay that along with paying down credit cards I originally got to make it through unemployed periods between jobs years ago.

Been using my father's car to get to/from work but the AC compressor is out on that and it's SUMMER in NW Arkansas which means heat/humidity and misery on the 30-45+ minutes it takes to get home in stop-and-go traffic.

Fucking hell, I need a break from shit going on.

my favoritest ever comic trope is when a character has more progressive political beliefs and the idiots leading the company go yeah we need to get a guy who is conservative as fuck to write this guys run. and then they just start using the character as a mouthpiece for their own takes. and this is how you get a socialist character who is a libertarian for one whole run but the author keeps insisting theyre actually really progressive

OKAY so this wizard Knuckles fanart in Speedlines is cool because his diploma is for the Unseen University from Discworld, the vastly superior series of books featuring a wizarding education system that were basically the majority of what I read growing up. I can’t remember when I started reading Discworld, but it was after playing a PS1 game based on it in 1996 (the same year this comic came out), so probably not too long after starting StC. Anyway, all of this is just to say that this kid has great taste to like both Knuckles and Discworld

I also respect this kid pitching their OC to StC and Megadroid responding by ominously saying that he has hidden talents without elaborating
