Took my dog on a walk. Limping as usual. Now with a mangled face. Didn’t really consider how this would look. As I’m walking down the sidewalk by the road a cop drives past. I don’t really notice. Suddenly the cop has swung around and parked across the street from me. I’m still thinking he’s just going to the house he parked in front of. Suddenly he’s walking towards me. Aside from the fact that he’s a cop he’s pretty hot so congrats to him on that. Anyway he comes up to me. “Are you alright? Do you need medical? You seem to be limping.” And I have to explain that I’m fine and have been limping for months and that the limp is what caused the fall that caused the mangled face and that even though I look like a domestic abuse victim I am only a victim to myself and gravity. Probably I should stay inside until I heal a bit more but like. My dog needs her walks.

#poorly drawn odyssey #the odyssey #odysseus #penelope #epic the musical #Epic's version was very sweet and very well executed (and so cathartic!)#But Odyssey Penelope is *so* done with all the bullshit at this point in the story.#Credit where it is due; at this point she's been through a lot.#And to top if all off - her own son and one of the few maids on her side are buying into this (supposed) ruse.#This cannot have been the only time someone tried to pull this trick on her either.#Its the contrast between: 'Oh you're My husband?' and 'Ohh *sureeee* you're my husband. Just like the 30 other 'Odys' before you.'#The olive tree bed trick is a great gambit because it really is the final test to verify his identity.#I'm just a sucker for couples who have a secret only they know between them I suppose!#The match each other in will and wit! They will always find each other!!!#Anyways. The Odyssey is a worthwhile read and I highly recommend it. Epic is also a great musical worth checking out.

Edit: I have not seen Nosferatu, and the comments assuming that's what this post is about are getting fucking obnoxious. As are many of the additions very rudely pointing out the fact that the actual range is *slightly* bigger and includes parts of Europe, so they could potentially be in the setting of the film I haven't seen and wasn't talking about. And talking as if I'm somehow to blame for someone else's map being incomplete on a meme I made in a few minutes that ended up getting tons more notes than usual. You can correct people while being polite about it.

This post is about Poirot. Quite a few episodes set in various locations, but especially Death on the Nile because that's the one I've watched most recently, and no matter whose map you look at there are no loons in Egypt.

Edit #2: There, I updated the map, are you assholes happy now? Still no loons in Egypt, nor anywhere near the city of Brussels. I will concede that there are some in the UK that I did not know about, but you probably wouldn't hear them in a city, and in any case the point still stands that TONS of productions use loon sounds no matter where they're set. Look at the map in this Vox video that someone linked in the comments of this post. They're all over the place!

Settings on every continent except Antarctica, and that's just the instances this one person found!

Perhaps it would be more accurate for me to say this post was inspired by Poirot but is about lots and lots of different movies and shows, because if I'd only ever heard one stray loon sound in one film then I wouldn't have made it.

Also, I shouldn't think it needs to be said, but I am not doing a serious media criticism here - just poking a bit of fun.
