yea no, magical thinking is definitely a symptom of main character syndrome
#it can be a symptom for plenty of other things but#i read someone sympathizing with a superstition a cult leader developed bc he'd been thru recent trauma and was looking for answers and like#this specific example of magical thinking was 1000% a manifestation of main character syndrome#case and point being the fact that it inspired his entire spiritual journey and fucking cult ๐๐#i get so so annoyed w the like#way people jump and bend over backwards to assert that something is more innocent or more ok or less toxic or less messy#just bc the person involved is or was a goddamn christian#idgaf#plenty of fucking religious ppl have main character syndrome#religion inspires it preys on it and spreads it like a fucking disease#most religions - and I'd be willing to bet all of the monotheistic religions - work on this concept of YOU being special#as long as you love god right#as long as you exist right#you'll get to heaven or enlightenment or wtfever โ and wouldn't that be special#it doesnt necessitate mcs#it breeds it#just thoughts
