just realized how much essek reminds me of the Gifted Kids i grew up with who only talked to other gifted kids because they thought nobody else was smart enough to understand them, and wow it all makes sense now! essek levitating to impress older, more established kryn is the exact same thing as 12-year-old gifted kids posturing in their 11th-grade math class trying to make the kids four years older than them think they’re cool, and you can’t convince me otherwise

#cr #essek thelyss #late night thoughts #this isn’t really #anti essek #but i’m tagging to be safe skkgsj #it’s pro-essek-as-a-character-but-also-WOW-that’s-why-i-can’t-stand-his-woobification #it’s because seeing him woobified is like seeing it happen to [NAME REDACTED]#anyway haha not to get all annoying here but WHEW this really is why it gets me when people treat sh@dowgast as superior just because #they’re the only ones ‘on each other’s level’...#i’d like to write this out more clearly someday but uh. as someone who has been commodified my whole life because of the way my brain works #i sure am uncomfortable with 1) the idea that people ideally are equally capable in the same kinds of intelligence #(...though this really only happens with intellectual intelligence. because of course.)#and 2) the idea that Being Smart is the most important factor in a relationship with a Smart Person #(setting aside how brilliantly smart so many other characters in and outside of the nein are!!)#it’s just... there are so many more qualities...#and sure there are people who do make that their priority! but most people are going to consider ideals/values/goals/beliefs/morality/etc??#since when is caleb so devoid of humanity and morality and personality? he’s filled with them!! he’s incredibly complex!!!#the way people seem to act like the higher a character’s intelligence score the better they’d be for caleb #is identical to the way adults told me i wouldn’t be understood (much less loved) except by those with a high enough iq #which is—and i cannot stress this enough—a steaming pile of absolute fucking horseshit!!!!#like i said... this is a pretty personal topic for me lmao. in fact i should go ahead and tag #personal #and yes i know very well that these are my own issues to deal with. i just think it’s a harmful idea to perpetuate and it’s easy to do so.#bc all this does is elevate intelligence to an even higher pedestal—alienating and further stigmatizing those w below average iq.#(which is a heavily biased eurocentric evaluation!)#in addition to the issues i’ve discussed which while less harmful and dehumanizing are... still ultimately harmful #anti shadowgast
