still ruminating over Lost In the Book With Spooky Skeletons Part 1, so here's a selection of some of my favorite little bits! (...some more loosely paraphrased than others) (I just feel like Idia has no room to criticize in general, okay)

One of my favorite parts about the writing of Howl's Moving Castle is how easy it is to write off all the things from our world at first as him just being a weird wizard™ (also thanks to bestie @jutenium for spotting this I wouldn't put it like that without you!!/pos). Sure, Sophie uses weird descriptions, but readers have every reason to believe them because of the way Howl is presented as a character. When Sophie says he wrote with a quill that doesn't need an ink, you wouldn't think it was actually a ballpoint pen, you would think Howl had just enchanted his quill so that it wouldn't need ink! When she adds that she can't make out a single word, you think he has matchingly terrible handwriting, but in fact Sophie has simply never seen a pen writing. When she sees the mysterious labels on his books, you think he's keeping a lot of obscure magical literature, but it's really just an encyclopedia and a guide like "Top 10 Rugby Tips." When Sophie notices the bottles in Howl's bathtub, you think they're some kind of magical jars where he keeps girl's hearts, but I'm almost certain that they're just 'Dove' and 'Head and Shoulders' that he's enhanced with his spells and put silly labels on. When you read Calicifer singing a song in a language Sophie doesn't understand, you think it's some kind of ancient cipher or code, but it's actually just a rugby song in Welsh that Howl sings when he's drunk. And finally, when you see the terrifying black door, which is completely shrouded in darkness, you imagine a passage to an eerie, mythical place, similar to what Miyazaki showed us - but it's just fucking Wales.

house episode where cuddy tries to call him in for extra hours but due to some old bylaw the hospital never got rid of, house realizes he can call out gay and spends the entire ep dodging phone calls from the hospital/cuddy after leaving a message that goes "i can't come in, im too busy being gay. check the bylaws"

cameron spends the ep trying to figure out if house is actually gay/bi because then she has one more thing in common with him, foreman tries to focus on the patient while cameron and chase bicker about if house is gay. wilson is also mysteriously absent. then at the end, after they finally cure the patient, foreman says something like "and he is gay, you know. or at least being gay today. he went home with wilson, and hasn't talked about seeing strippers in a month"

cut to house at home and wilson brings him tea or something and house teases him about it and wilson responds with "yes i'd make an excellent housewife" and house-not very jokingly-asks wilson to marry him and wilson says ok and the ep ends there and it's never brought up again until house gets admitted to the hospital 2 seasons later and they won't let wilson in to see him because family only, and wilson drops the marriage bomb

i don't have a take about this game itself because it's not something i'm particularly interested in nor do i really give a fuck but the wording here is really. uh actually guys only men buy porn games especially the bad ones and only men have kinks and fetishes especially the bad ones actually. everyone knows that no woman or otherwise would ever be interested in anything like that despite. checks notes. 62% of women in a study having rape fantasies. but no only men are ever aroused by anything bad and in fact all men who have ever been aroused by anything bad should be in jail. no one else though because they'd surely never like this type of material

Gotham was welcoming of Amity Parkers.

not as loving as with her own but she was way more patient with the people of her friend that any other outsiders.

so the people of Amity those Liminal and aware of her tried to pay her kindness back, to a reasonable degree of course but they could help and she let them stay so they did.

Paulina took it upon herself to make a nice place in the fashion district, she sold some charms to help with the curses as much as she could.

Sam being Sam opened a surprisingly Ivy Approved community garden and was very hard to convince not to join the Eco-terrorist but they managed to, thankfully.

the Fentons designed filters to help the 'Parkers but it was good for the city too if too little to do much.

Val hadn't moved here (yet) but she visited often enough and each visit volunteered somewhere.

Gotham grown to adore them almost as their own, she even hid them from the bats for a while to let them settle (and maybe help her more before her Knight inevitably got paranoid)

Gotham laughed when her King stumbled into her Red Knight, you could hear it in subtle ways the sounds of the night flowed just a little too much like a giggle.

Hood did deserve more good things she's proud of herself!
