if it brings you joy to remove fictional characters from the context of their canon and spin a less traumatizing narrative, or change them as people to be less horrible and loathsome -- whether it's just for fun or a way to process your own feelings and trauma -- you are valid.

this also applies if you explore the characters for who they are canonically. because everyone processes things differently.

not everyone can or wants to face heavier topics. people shouldn't be guilted or shamed for trying to create a space that they can enjoy and feel safe in.
