Types of clothes that you probably need to have a complete and functional wardrobe

I've sort of given up on my Patreon and accepted that Tumblr is my Main Blogging Platform now. In that spirit, going to start dumping some of my best style blogging posts here. Let me be clear that I have no professional qualifications! My therapist posting comes from a place of actually being a therapist. My style posting just comes from a place of being a person who thinks about clothes a lot.

To have a complete and functional wardrobe, you probably need:

– Clothes for the activity you do most days of the week. If you work, this is your work wardrobe. If you stay at home with a toddler, these are your home-with-a-toddler clothes. If you’re a student, this is what you wear to class. You get the idea. This should probably be the bulk of your wardrobe (unless you have an actual work uniform, in which case you can get away with a week’s worth of uniforms that you wash regularly).

– Clothes that are one step nicer than what you wear most days of the week. Think: Job interview. Church. Christmas dinner with grandma. Lunch with someone you want to impress.

– Something genuinely fancy, for whatever level of fancy suits the kind of special occasion you get invited to regularly. If you’re like me, e.g. 34 and popular, you attend up to three weddings per year and need cocktail, garden party, and black tie options. Maybe you and your girls are in more of a baby shower era, or maybe you’re in a tax bracket where you go to galas. I don’t know your life.

– At least one outfit you could wear to a funeral.

– Clothes for sleeping, if you sleep in clothes. Self-explanatory.

– Clothes for cleaning, doing yardwork, and other sweaty and unglamorous tasks. How much of these you need depends on your lifestyle, obviously, but you need at least some.

– Clothes for anything you do regularly that doesn’t fit into the above categories and has its own associated look. This is your clubwear, your concert fits, your matching leggings and sports bra sets for Pilates class, your fetishwear, costumes for your LARP character, stage outfits for performing with your rock band, et cetera.

– At least 3-5 outfits that make you feel like a million bucks. Imagine that you are a cartoon character whose character design includes one default outfit; what would you want your default outfit to be? This is where you should run wild with self-expression; these outfits are ideal for brunch with your besties, date nights with your favorite person, and parties thrown by people who really get you. 

There can be plenty of overlap between these categories. If you’re a trial lawyer and you wear menswear, your everyday, wedding, and funeral outfits might all be A Black Suit. I personally have a lot of overlap between my sleep, workout, and getting-messy wardrobes. Some people’s iconic cartoon character outfit is ripped jeans and a band t-shirt, and some of those people can also wear that to work. 

If you have enough clothes to get dressed (confidently, in something you like) for all of these occasions, then congratulations! Your wardrobe is complete, and you don’t actually NEED any more or different clothes (until your body or style preferences change). There’s obviously nothing wrong with adding more options as your budget and storage situation allows, but if you feel like your wardrobe is incomplete and you’re struggling to get dressed, the first step is to identify what you’re struggling to get dressed FOR.

So, heads up, this isn't going to be a well thought-out essay. They're just my in "the moment" thoughts.

My thoughts on how it looks: I'm well aware the best low light camera still isn't going to capture things the way the human eye can. So I feel it would be unfair of me to say the effect seems flat when I haven't seen it person. Maybe she is really creepy and convincing under show lighting. Projection mapping for me is a lot like CGI in movies--I think it should be used to enhance what's already there, not be the whole thing when possible. The cemetery looks great with the projection effects helping sell the ethereal quality of the scene. But without the projections, you still have that set and those wonderful figures. If all you're relying on is that projection and the projector goes out, you'll just have a blank space. Hopefully that won't be the case with this. I'm curious if there's a B mode.

I not only quit working at WDW a few years ago but have left Florida entirely, so I no longer keep my ear to the ground and chat with people who are more in the know on upcoming park changes. (Yes, I know this was DL, not WDW, but I feel like that's pertinent information for the conversation.) So this really did take me by surprise. Was not expecting it. If anything, what I thought it would be was an updated Constance figure-- a basic animatronic and some tweaking to the projection. I really think that's all she needed. It would have helped a lot to sell the effect. I was not expecting a total turnaround, especially given that Constance had a lengthy cameo in the 2023 film and sells merchandise. Plus, there were appearances in recent comic books, novels, and cartoons. I figured she'd be there for a while longer. But hey, this is just continuing a long tradition of the attic never staying stagnant for long.

Also she just straight up looks like a character from one of those uncanny point and click/ hidden object games. You could have told me that was a screenshot from Redemption Cemetery, and I would have been like, "Oh yeah."

This is just me, but I'm not into the whole "multiple dead missing husbands" thing they've done with both the new bride and Melanie. It doesn't feel as emotionally poignant as the one true love who's vanished. It works with Connie because she's a serial killer. That's her whole plan. However, with Melanie, for instance, I don't know why she's pining over guy #5, who she barely got to know, to the point where she's wandering in a bridal gown for eternity. At some point, I'd figure you'd be used to the whole "dead groom thing" and try to avoid the situation again. Same with this new bride. If she fell in love so easily and so frequently, she can find another dude. There are a few hundred around that mansion to choose from. In my opinion, it severely weakens the impact of the tragedy of the character. It's sad she never found love in life, but there's a whole afterlife full of bachelors to choose from. (I know that's not the same situation for Melanie, who's been rendered into having no actual agency anymore compared to her original iteration, but they are kind of similar, hence using her as a comparison.)

I really don't know why they kept the portraits if they weren't going to at least make her look like the same person. The face is so different.

What I like: I do prefer the old beating heart brides to Constance, so it's a concept I love. My favorite is the no face, glowing eyes version, because she was so creepy and ambiguous. You never really knew what her deal was. And you could argue the same for this one if you'd like. I think that's a valid response. We don't know how or why the husbands vanished, so there could be multiple interpretations. I would just have preferred an actual figure again, or just a very basic animatronic.

Seeing the One Eyed Black Cat makes me happy. If you've followed my blog for a while, you know how much I love that little demon, despite the fact he never actually made it into the ride as the villain he was supposed to be. I think he's just a cool concept that you could do something interesting with.

My interpretation of the scene:

Emily (or whatever you'd like to call her) is a total cat lady. And every spouse she had has bizarrely died via very mundane kitty actions. Maybe George tripped and fell from the top stair when the cat darted around his feet. Maybe Frank was electrocuted taking a soak when the cat batted an appliance into the tub. Etc, etc. And every time, her response was, "Oh no! ... Kitty, are you okay?!" Never suspecting the little bastard was doing it on purpose. She still loves that cat, and has never assumed anything other than innocent cat shenanigans, and defends him to this day.

For the Connie lovers, she's still in WDW. My prediction is she will be there for a long time. Look how long it took to add Hatbox.

I think that's about it. My opinions may change later, especially if I ever get to see her in person. Thanks for reading my rambling.

There’s even like, a plot. You know, if you’re into that.

AU info:

Supertale takes place in a world where the war between humans and monsters never happened. In fact, humans are actually a subspecies of monster in this au. In lieu of monsters having magic and humans having determination, neither race has either. Instead, they get superpowers, which show up essentially at random.

This story is overall intended to stay pretty light and fun, with a focus on the entertaining and amusing aspects of a superhero setting rather than the dystopian ones. There will be darker and more serious themes later in the story, but nothing beyond what you’d expect from like… a kids’ cartoon.

The main comic is planned to be pretty PG, content wise, but there may be occasional allusions to the fact that most of the adult characters in this au do in fact fuck, and I might occasionally do some more risqué art or writing as the mood strikes as bonus content outside of the main narrative. Anything explicit will be tagged (and possibly relegated to ao3, depending on how explicit it is), so there shouldn’t be any concern of seeing stuff you don’t want to by accident as long as you have #nsfw blocked in your tag filters.

Not a lot, just three on one arm and two on the other, I think. The three are in a triangle shape though! (edit: i looked in the mirror; i have one on my collarbone that i forgot about.)

I like both, but I drink coffee way more often. I drink coffee with a slightly unreasonable amount of creamer. I like the green tea that's infused with peach flavor, and I drink it plain.

I technically have several stuffed animals somewhere on my bed, but the main one that I sleep with is a very long stuffed cat, like a squishmallow, but long. She is excellent, I use her as a pillow a lot.

I'm gonna pick the boring answer and say 2010's; I think there are good and bad things about all of history's decades, but since that one just finished up, it's all still fresh in the world's mind. Good things from the 2010's just off the top of my head: My dog was born, my little sister was born, Jorge Rivera-Herrans started working on Epic the musical, I met an incredible friend of mine, Into the Spiderverse came out, and I'm sure there's other good things I'm forgetting.

26. Oh, there's probably a lot. I've ended up absorbing a lot of what my younger siblings like. Can I admit that I saw the second paw patrol movie in theaters? My little brother is obsessed with paw patrol, so i've seen both the movies about a thousand times. and they're pretty good. as for kids' shows that i like, The Inbestigators is a fun show, and odd squad will never not be a cinematic masterpiece.

27. Ooh, probably a tie between When Did You See Her Last? (All The Wrong Questions, book 2) and Shouldn't You Be In School? (All The Wrong Questions, book 3). Haven't reread ATWQ in a while, but I love it, especially the two middle books in the series.

28. Emotionally? Doing great, I did a lot of fun stuff yesterday and I now feel socially fulfilled. Mentally? Kind of stressed, I have a huge paper due tonight that I still need to make an edit to. Physically? I'm on the tail end of a cold, so not as well as I could be.

7. What’s your ideal number of blankets to sleep with?

it depends on the time of year, really. In winter, I usually sleep with 4 blankets (bedspread, duvet, comforter, and a throw blanket... and a sheet, of course), but in the summer I'll maybe use a bedspread, or more likely, just a sheet.

falling, failure/disappointing the people I care about, dogs (a little), large crowds/extremely noisy spaces (less of a fear, more of just extreme overwhelm)

I used to, but not quite as much any more. I had considered getting a tragus piercing, and I was also interested in getting an industrial piercing at one point, but I'm pretty happy with my single set of lobe piercings

Happy Pokémon Day! (My history with the franchise and how it changed my life)

So, I always post Pokémon stuff here on this blog, but I haven't posted anything about HOW I fell in love with this franchise...so what better time to do that than on Pokémon Day!

I got into Pokémon during the Gen 4 era, when I was about nine years old. I was on vacation with my family and having my quiet day at my grandparents' vacation rental while my parents stayed at ours with my younger brothers (two of them were just tiny little babies, so that's a lot of noise). I was just left to my own devices since I was having quiet time (as an autistic person, quiet time with no sensory overwhelm is a necessity), and I was flipping channels on the TV when I came across an episode of the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl anime on Cartoon Network. I found myself completely sucked in and fully immersed in the battle Ash and Pikachu were in, and from then on, I was hooked! There was just one problem... Pokémon was still seen as a little kid's thing by everyone around me, and there weren't any kids at school or anything that liked it, so I decided to keep this newfound special interest a secret from everyone, including my own family...actually, ESPECIALLY my family, as I already liked too many little kid's things for my parents' liking (read: my dad's liking).

So how did I keep it a secret? Well, I kept everything I consumed limited to the anime, and I always watched it in my own room with the door locked and the key with me inside my room so no one could get in and see what I was doing. Everyday after the living nightmare that was school, I came home, took the family laptop up to my room to do research on the franchise on Serebii.net and Bulbapedia. I looked up all the Pokémon, all the characters, and found older episodes of the anime from the 4kids era to watch, which I enjoyed immensely, especially Ash's voice (yep, I started with Sarah Natochenny's Ash but I still like Veronica Taylor's Ash better...no hate to Natochenny though, she really improved over time and really made Ash her own, so I appreciate the life she brought to the character, I just prefer the sound of Veronica's Ash voice a little more). And at the end of each Pokémon knowledge-seeking/anime-binging session I would always delete ALL the search history on Google AND the watch history on YouTube (I didn't have my own YouTube account at the time), so no one would ever suspect a thing. I did this for YEARS...in fact I did this well into HIGH SCHOOL!

It wasn't until 2015 that I discovered PokéTubers...and from there my world opened up more, as I had finally learned that there were plenty of older teens and adults who loved Pokémon, I just had to find them (which, the whole social thing is really hard when you're autistic like me). MandJTV was the first PokéTuber I watched, and it only expanded from there, to the point where I now watch almost exclusively PokéTubers. Watching PokéTubers made my love of Pokémon feel valid, that I wasn't the only one, and that there's probably more adult fans than kid ones at this point. And when I entered my final year of high school, I met someone new to the school who liked Pokémon! But I had to act like a complete newcomer to the series since I had never outwardly shown interest before. It made me inwardly cringe every time I purposely butchered a Pokémon's name pronunciation, or said my favorite Pokémon was Pikachu when it's really Infernape and always has been, or pretended I didn't know type matchups, etc, etc. But the best part about finding someone in my actual life who liked Pokémon meant I could finally tell my family about it!

When I told them, they were surprised as they never thought I would be into something like Pokémon, but I was finally FINALLY allowed to embrace my love for it, and get merchandise and play my first Pokémon game! I got Pokémon Art Academy for my 3DS that year for my birthday since I was always drawing Pokémon characters on any paper I could find, and this was actually what got me to start taking my art seriously and gave me the drive to improve! Pokémon also gave me the inspiration to start creating my own original characters for original works, and now I basically live in my own creative universe! For Christmas that year, I got my first Pokémon games, Y and Alpha Sapphire, also for my 3DS, and I played Y all day and hyperfocused so hard that before I knew it my dad was yelling at me to "put the pokey-man down and come eat supper" or else they'd take my 3DS away for a little while...oops. 😅

The best part about all this is, this was all just in time for Pokémon's 20th anniversary celebration! I had an amazing time getting exclusive merch from Toys R Us (RIP TRU, I still miss that store...) and starting my Pikachu collection (it's my number one comfort Pokémon, so of course I collect Pika merch) that is steadily growing to this day. I also got almost every Mythical Pokémon from the big giveaway events each month in my game! And then came the cards...oh Arceus, the cards...this is what got two of my three younger brothers into the franchise, and now opening packs is like a huge event in my house. My mom and dad just roll their eyes when we do it but they are happy for us whenever we pull something good from a pack. After the cards came the PokéSpe manga, which I most constantly post about my precious little autistic bean of an OC Orange on this blog (thank you so much for all the support on those posts btw), so obviously I love PokéSpe with all my heart just like I do the rest of this franchise...especially the Sinnoh Trio!

Ever since 2016 I've been living my best life as a Pokémon fan! I made my first true friends through Pokémon, I've learned many valuable lessons through Pokémon, my special interest in Pokémon helps me process the world around me (trust me on this, I know it sounds weird but I don't know exactly how to explain even though I usually can explain things better through writing). I still play the games, watch the anime, read the manga, etc. I've found so many relatable characters as well! And I somehow also can't stop seeing autistic or neurodivergent coded characters in any form of Pokémon media I consume...it's like I have a radar in my head because I'm autistic myself with three neurodivergent brothers as well so it automatically makes spotting the signs easier for me I guess. At the end of the day, it's all headcanons anyway, but it still feels validating to see so many characters in the franchise that is my main special interest possess many of the same traits and deal with many of the same struggles that I do in my day to day life. I will most likely continue to make character analyses on those characters here as well since I've become more confident in my ability to do that ever since my Crispin analysis became my most popular post BY FAR (thank you all for the support on that one btw)!

All in all, Pokémon has really changed my life for the better and helped me through so many hard times in my life. I honestly don't know where I'd be right now if Pokémon didn't exist, but let's not think about that too much, eh...? I'm just happy living life as a Pokémon fan, and I will continue to be a massive fan forever.
