sooo i was just wondering what the term ‘deoncelerization’ means, cause i keep seeing it when i stalk older blogs XD
thank youu !
It's when someone decides to take most or all of the "onceler" aspects out of their onceler OC, so that they become a regular OC without any ties to the onceler. The change doesn't necessarily have to happen instantly either, like maybe they've been rping and making so many headcanons for their onceler OC that over the months or years their onceler OC barely has any connection to the onceler anymore, not in looks, not in goals, not in backstory, not in personality or interests, nothing, and they look back and realize, hey, it might be fun to officially deoncelerize and go nuts with creativity! But the general etiquette is that a onceler OC is a onceler OC so long as the creator still says so.
And for a bit of history, you can look through this page here: https://www.tumblr.com/wansura/search/deoncelerization
But the most important posts from that link are these:
[link 1] The very first deoncelerized onceler askblogs (we called them onceler askblogs back then instead of onceler ocs). It started in our Thneedville High AU. At the beginning it was just people having fun with headcanons for what their oncelers would be like if they weren't oncelers, and gradually it became a whole movement where people actually decided to change their characters permanently.
[link 2] "What is deoncelerization?"
[link 3] When deoncelerization was first proposed, many people were upset. Which is funny since one of the big reasons that deoncelerization was proposed in the first place was because the purists in the fandom were very vocal about HATING the fact that some ppl were letting their onceler askblogs deviate too much from canon movie onceler. (The fandom by november 2012 was very divided between AU askblog enjoyers and canon movie purists (i personally have always liked both canon and askblogs tho)) And then people became upset thinking that deoncelerization meant the end of the onceler fandom. 😂 No way!!!
There are people from outside of the fandom who have posted onceler fandom analyses claiming that the fandom disappeared overnight at the end of 2012 due to deoncelerization or due to imploding from too many askblogs deviating too far away from canon. This is NOT true. Like sure, maybe some ppl deoncelerized because they didn't want to associate with the fandom anymore, and we respected their decision if so. But from my experience many deoncelerized characters continued to interact with oncelers or other lorax characters, and people in the onceler fandom continued to follow and enjoy the stories of characters who got deoncelerized. The onceler fandom will always be the friends we've made along the way and I mean this so seriously.

I don't know if it's a shared sentiment within the fandom, but personally I think there's a lot more to the character of the Once-ler than many give him credit for
(2012- the original one is a whole other story, pun intended)
Tumblr media
Sure it goes without saying most of the appeal is him being childishly funny... and oddly cute and whatnot.
And yes the movie puts too much focus on what should be a character that the audience must NOT invest in. But in the final product what we get is a guy with the most story background (=> leaving his home, making the Thneed, etc) out of everyone else. He's not necessarily super complex or layered, but more... Human?
We literally get to see a slice of life of this dude who's been nothing but positive and adorable since introduced.
Tumblr media
Again this shouldn't be the case. Considering the source material of the original Lorax book. But here he is, and they made him too likeable
Honestly part of me thinks the writers did this on purpose, to have a simpable character. The only thing keeping me from that belief is the non existence of merchandise. Maybe the plan was to make an impact on younger audiences??
Anyways, this sets the ground for a whole other rant about the damned impact the Lorax movie left on the internet. Let's leave that for another time though. I'm not strong enough to make a YouTube video but I'm this close 🤏🏻

i wish biggering was in the actual lorax movie,, i was so obsessed w that song for so long… it works so much better as a cautionary and scary song for a villain 💔 i think making the onceler practically oblivious of what his actions were doing took a lot away from what the movie could have been.. like he knew it was BAD, but it was toned down SO much. like the difference between the line “who cares if a few trees are dying?” and “who cares if some things are dying? i don’t wanna hear your crying”.. like hello he was aware he was killing animals and destroying their homes JUST for himself.. don’t get me wrong, how bad can i be is fun, yeah,, but it’s no biggering!! like it’s supposed to be showing how far gone the onceler went into the corporate nature, and how it reflects a lot of real life corporations and billionaires sitting at the top of the chain, getting more and more, to the point that it’s terrifying. and biggering is showing JUST how far it goes.. at least for a children’s movie lol.. but no. it hit to close to home with the men at the top of everything to actually put it in the movie. the lorax’s whole speech in biggering literally just calls them out directly. BUT NO. (can you tell i really really like the lorax..)
YOU GET MEEEE YOU REALLY GET ME
i love the Lorax (though I wasn't ever in the fandom... they scared me), and sometimes I go back to watch it and think about what could have been... I listen to Biggering all the time, though mostly when i'm mad about corporations and advertising and etc etc etc, i also listen to it because it's just a GREAT antagonist song/song in general. if i can put it on a playlist for a villain character, IT'S GOING ON THERE. How Bad Can I Be is good but Biggering just hits harder
if anyone wants to know what song we're talking about WhySoAnimated's storyboard project also readjusted something in my brain wen I watched it as a kid

May 2025 Fandoms
Oh whoops, halfway through June and I never did my May journal.
Movies:
Ice Age 1, 2, 3, and 4 - Yeah I dunno I just put on the first movie for something to watch while I folded laundry and it put me in the mood for the whole series XD Couldn't find the fifth movie though.
Coraline - Holy flip it's been years but this movie is still COMPLETE AND UTTER PERFECTION!!😍😍😍 (literally just put it on after watching Ice Age 4 for the opening and ended up watching the entire movie because it's just so good)
The Lorax - Lmao omg can't believe I watched this in 2025. Wanted something I could watch without actually caring about watching while I corrected my students' work XD
Freaky Friday - My mom wanted this one, and yeah of course it's still fun. Also I think this was also one I watched right after another movie pffffft.
When Harry Met Sally - I both like and dislike a lot of things about this movie (mostly all the sex talk of course) but man I could listen to the characters talk all day.
G.I. Jane - I like underdog stories and I was pretty into this one... until the end when they shoot up a bunch of Libyan 'terrorists' on their own land🤢 Ugh.
A Walk to Remember - Again mostly just watched this for something to entertain me while I folded laundry, even though it wasn't so long ago that I watched it. Still nice.
Anime: Literally nothing but Anne Shirley I think. I actually am just never in the mood to watch anime anymore😢 Maybe it's just a slow season, but I haven't even caught up with Apothecary Diaries.
Books:
A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher - Borrowed this purely because I enjoyed a book by the same author before. It was a solid three stars.
The Wild Robot Protects by Peter Brown
Games: Slay the Princess - Oh man I'm SO happy this game lived up to its hype! Okay I wouldn't call it one of my top five favorite games or anything but I love how engaging it is for a choice-based visual novel! Also the VA's are so talented to be doing that many personalities and voices!

Why I think Ted is the real villain of the Lorax:
Ted is basically the protagonist right? Yeah I hate him. First he is a simp, and no one likes simps except maybe other simps. Even then if you were a simp, would you like Ted?? First of all look at that haircut. It's really giving 2009 emo Justin Bieber and I hate Justin Bieber. And what is that outfit?? If you walked that streets in that outfit I would laugh. Now this kid is 12 right? He is over here simping over Taylor Swift who is supposedly 14. If I was 14 and some 12 year old simped over me I would reject him immediately before he even asks. Like do any of y'all wake up in the morning and think "I'LL FLY MY TOY IN TAYLOR SWIFT'S YARD TODAY"? I don't!!! He claims she is a woman in high school. If Taylor Swift is a woman then that makes me an old lady. That whole dream sequence is a menace to society. What kind of high schooler would kiss a guy drinking and Milkshake waster?? Like bruh that was a perfectly good Milkshake you threw you devil. We don't waste food. Speaking of food, dude really kissed a cereal box like who does that? The Onceler is a fool. My guy really believed Ted cared about trees lmao. He only wanted a tree to be a simp for Taylor Swift who likes trees. What if Taylor Swift wanted to destroy society? Ted would destroy society. That simp doesn't give a shit about fixing society. His mom is the savior, an angel, the best character of this movie. She stopped the Taylor Swift x Simp kiss and spared my eyes. Ily Ted's mom. You know what I don't love? First of all, tree hating simp taking all the credit for saving society. No the fuck you didn't, you were being a pathetic simp. Nature is beautiful and obviously you don't appreciate it, food waster. And then comes the worst scene of cinematic history. Why tf did you kiss the simp Taylor Swift?? You're better than this!! This is prove you're indeed not a woman in high school. Look at that guy, i wouldn't have kissed him. What he deserves is to be sad, emo and lonely for the rest of his life like the Onceler. This is why Ted is the true villian of The Lorax. Thank you.
-🦊
Ah, yes. The real total drama takes experience.

I believe is no need to say this but just in case for you to know, don’t ever repost my drawings or use them for feed any AI, If you do you fucking suck dude. For now I ONLY and only post in Tumblr, so if you see my drawings in another media, I’ll be glad to know to at least confront that person :p.
I’m in a loooot of fandoms, but expect to see about:

Why the Lorax is Jesus Christ- - A character study in both pop culture and the holy bible
Let’s be real: if Jesus came back today, he would not look like a white, middle-aged Caucasian man; he would look more like an orange hairy walking Garfield without the stripes and with the most stylish goatee in history. Hmmm, who does that remind you of? Could it be... THE LORAX? Yes. I believe wholeheartedly that the Lorax is Jesus reincarnated in the best form imaginable. In this essay, I will prove that DR. Suess accidentally wrote a second gospel starring a fuzzy orange eco-Jesus.
Like Jesus, the Lorax speaks of ideas and morals that no one wants to hear, throughout his time in ‘The Lorax’ he is constantly giving out warnings and attempting to deliver moral lessons that constantly go ignored. For example, during the mass destruction of the once-Ler’s greedy intentions, the Lorax simply states “I hear things are fine here, but that is not true! The trees are all gone the birds are all flown the skies are not blue”. This is a clear warning of the consequences if the Once-Ler doesn’t stop. During the movie, the Lorax repeatedly warns the Once-Ler about the consequences of cutting down the trees and the destruction it will cause to the environment. Still, despite his warnings, the Once-Ler ignores him and keeps exploiting the forest for his own monetary greed. Throughout the movie, it becomes increasingly obvious that the Once=Ler represents the whole of humanity, especially the higher-ups (corporate greed). Similar to this, in the Bible Jesus repeatedly warns the Pharisees and the people about their hypocrisy, greed, and lack of compassion; “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence” (Matthew 23:25). Despite Jesus’s teachings leaders ignored or rejected his message, ultimately leading to his death (crucifixion), the people continued living in ways he warned against. These texts show how voices of conscience were disregarded by those in power who prioritized profit and status over moral responsibility.
The Once-Ler ignores the Lorax one too many times the damage is irreversible, there is no possibility of coming back from the mass amount of damage he created, Wildlife has evacuated in search of another home, what’s left of the trees is on fire and the grassy land beneath their feet is dead. As it is a children’s movie, they are not allowed to show any gruesome death scenes but the scene where the lorax leaves is symbolism for death (we see him fly up to the clouds after the once-Ler’s prosecution i.e. Heaven). Similarly, in the Bible, Jesus gets nailed to a cross. He was unjustly crucified not for breaking any laws but for challenging power. In both the Lorax and the Bible, they attempt to share messages that threaten the authority of the elite. Both their deaths were the rejection of truth by a society addicted to control and monetary gain/comfort. It is symbolised people in power will destroy anyone who disrupts the status quo even if they are preaching love. This is also seen with Mr O’Hare, the villain of the lorax movie. Just like the Pharisees plotted against Jesus, Mr O’Hare tries to destroy any trace of resistance.
At the very end of the Lorax movie peace and hope is brought back to earth in the form of rebirth (planting the first real tree in decades) bringing the lorax back to life as a spiritual sign that hope still exists. He only appears when the Once-Ler gives the last Truffula seed to Ted symbolising forgiveness. Similarly, Jesus is resurrected and the message lives on just like the Lorax’s message lives on through Ted. Examples focus on the theme of rebirth and that despite the people of power’s attempt to destroy truth hope survives through individuals who choose to listen to him. The warning “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not” ties into the bible verse, “You are the light of the world let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven” as they both show personal responsibility to make change visible.
If this offends you maybe that’s the point. Why is it offensive to say the Lorax is like Jesus? Well, maybe it’s supposed to be. The comparison pokes fun of how seriously some take religious imagery by throwing an orange, fuzzy creature into the mix. If you are offended, maybe that is exactly what I want to provoke, to challenge rigid ideas about sacredness and get people thinking outside the box. After all, religion and culture both use symbols to communicate big ideas; mixing them up forces us to reconsider why we hold certain images so close to our hearts. So if this essay ruffles some feathers, that’ is not an accident, it is a feature. Sometimes shaking up the status quo is the only way to start real conversations. Even if it’s by imagining Jesus with a stylish goatee and a deep love for trees. As the status quo changes, we need to change how we perceive and talk about our religion. Christianity often ignores the actual teachings of Jesus; choosing to exile people who need help, who want to be better or just want to be themselves. I know it is not all Christians but that does not change the people who are being hurt by an outdated form of this religion.
In conclusion, In a world that cuts down Truffula trees faster than it listens to prophets, maybe we deserve the next flood.

While this premiered at the cinema, its original plan was to fully release it on Netflix. My guess was that the head honchos were still licking their wounds from their latest embarrassment, so they decided to dump this on the streaming services, possibly not to co-release with other large movies around the time. Admittedly, this is one movie that I also feel bad for due to its treatment, though it received some favourable reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Based on a picture book, the flick starts with Orion the young scaredy cat, trying to get through his fear of pretty much anythin. It’s not long until he finally meets the physical form of Dark face-to-face, who decides to take him on an adventure at night to show him the advantages. From there, he introduces his own teammates, manifestations that perform their duty during the night, where Orion assists them. It’s not long until Dark begins to desire more than just his job as well as not stand as a feared icon.
While I found the first act pleasant, I was shocked to see on how the film switched teaming devices as midway, it suddenly decided to be a story within a story. Quite out of nowhere, we’re greeted with a grown-up Orion who’s telling the story towards his daughter, Hypatia, about the past experiences. While the narration was present, it wasn’t properly established that this was going to be double-plot, considering that the third act clutters itself up with the daughter entering the “fantasy” story and then helping the characters just like that. I really don’t want to compare the third act’s sudden interaction with the fantasy world towards Illumination’s Lorax, but it really had me thinking.
Honestly, without the whole third act really attempting to increase itself into the running time, I liked how the direction was willing to go beyond a step with one of the main characters performing a daring choice.
Speaking of, I’ve also heard a lot of comparisons to Inside Out, though I wouldn’t go as far as calling it a complete rip-off. I do see some inspirations here and there, but that can be said for a few adaptations where it involves physical caricatures of experiences. Honestly, I saw this as its own thing, so maybe I’m missing something that people seemed to be throwing around.
As for its jokes, admittedly, there are some solid ones to be found here, mainly from the beginning of Orion’s fears of the unlikeness of horrible situations galore. While I couldn’t find much to salvage from Dark, there are some good line delivery from his colleagues, such as the static Paranoia and even a physical joke where a Sleep entity finds twisted ways to cause slumber towards people.
Like its idea alone, I was fond of the animation here, taking an innocent storybook approach with its designs and background layout. There’s some nice direction with how they went with the backgrounds and elements of fears occurring from the main’s perspective, all seen as crayon doodles. The humans on the other hand bared that simplistic feel with the rounded heads and eyes being close together, almost like Aardman characters. With the way how Dark moved was nice, such as his demonstration of how much his cloaked body could cover Orion’s room.
It’s not long until we get to the designs of the night entities, each containing a different design to match their role: Dark is presented as a cloaked heavyset figure; Sweet Dreams as tall and elegant; Sleep is large and droopy-looking; Unexplained Noises contains a cassette player and pair of cymbals across her form; Insomnia resembles a lightbulb-headed mosquito; while Quiet is pretty much a mouse. These caricature designs I was particularly fond of as their forms presented a lot of character and personality. Eventually, we do see Light, baring a golden and sunlike appearance, while also donning the sunglasses to really amp up the “cool” lifestyle.
For its character display, they do contain a limited yet likeable cast, starting off with Orion, a little boy with panphobia, overanalysing and anxious about pretty much anything; something about Orion could be balanced by both being a depiction and yet a slight exaggeration of how a little kid could be portrayed. From the slight embarrassment of wearing jeans the wrong way around to imagining anything going wrong on school trips, they couldn’t hold a candle towards his fear of darkness, which is where his new friend arrives. From there, Orion learns of the importance of how the night could have its appeal as well as how the night cycle needs its equal balance as much as the day. Voicing him was Jacob Tremblay, capturing the layers of slight nervousness and super paranoia when it arrived at these situations.
Dark himself is a friendly fellow, just a “run by the clock” kind of individual, reminding me of Sulley from Monsters, Inc., who sees his role as a duty to perform. While I would have liked some more humour from his line delivery as his felt really by the books, I was more fond of his choices by the third act, reminding me of characters such as Wreck-It Ralph and Megamind, where they want to change their overall occupation, reflecting on how usual it is to be scared of this atmosphere. I honestly liked the voice work of Paul Walter Hauser, himself sounding so invested as his role as a spooky yet friendly apparition.
The other entities are manifestations of occurrences during the night, consisting of Sweet Dreams, Sleep, Insomnia, Unexplained Noises and Quiet, all having a role to play. At first, they are reluctant to let the paranoid boy join their team but warm up to his advice. Besides some good voice work to allow room for aome personality, each of the entities didn’t really hit the mark of standing out, mainly taking a backseat in the third act. Light is shown as the smug and condescending type, acting more as a bully, where his actions become more important in the third act.
This movie I actually was rather fond of, even though I felt that a major part of the story could have been reworked. It contained a solid idea and some likeable characters, while making some great choices within its layout. In some respects, I do feel bad for the overall movie as it was pretty much booted on streaming services, left to mainly be watched at homes instead of cinemas. Was DreamWorks really worried about the fate or did they really treat it like a minor wave of the ocean?
Either way, this movie is worth a watch.
Final Rating: C
7/10

saw someone else to this so im plaguing my mutuals with this
free pass to ramble about literally any topic!!! i wanna hear about the things you like
ok I know you said things I like but I'm actually going to take this opportunity to rant about The Lorax (2012) because I have a lot of thoughts about why I hate this movie. Thank you for the ask :)
idk how coherent this will be and this might get long sorry
By the way no judgement to anyone who likes this movie or to the onceler fuckers, these are just my opinions. So to start off, I feel like the lorax story did not lend itself well to the animated kids movie formula. It probably would've been better as some sort of short film or something. And I know Dr Seuss was, like, racist and stuff but the lorax had a pretty good message. And in making the movie I feel like they muddled that message a lot.
So like I said, the story didn't fit the vibe, so to make it work as a kids movie they added an entire other plotline outside of the actual story. They expand upon both the world and the child hearing the story, and I have a problem with both of these. It seems like they were trying to make the town have that whimsical feel that other movies based on Seuss stories have, but personally, I don't think it works for the Lorax. Reading the story you get a sense that the world is desolate and barren. It feels pretty dystopian. In the movie that's only the area where the onceler lives and outside of that is a pretty nice looking town. Sure they have no trees, and are being scammed by some shitty CEO but it's a society with lots of people, who don't seem to feel like anything's wrong. And considering that it's a movie for children, I think the things that make it feel dystopian are too subtle. And you could argue that it was intentionally made to feel like real life, as some sort of commentary or something, but again I think kids won't pick up on that.
Moving on to the kid voiced by zac Efron, (I don't remember his name and I don't really care) I think in the story the kid is meant to be a stand in for anyone, like it doesn't matter who he is because it's meant to be you, reading the story. So making this kid a more fleshed out character was not something I would've done in the first place. Furthermore this kid doesn't even think anything's wrong. He's just motivated by the girl he likes saying she wishes she could see a tree! and that's kind of all he cares about which makes me feel like at that point why isn't she just the main character? (also side it was a weird choice to make her be so much older than him.) Basically I didn't care about any of this, they should have left out the entirety of this outside plot.
Anyway, moving on to the actual important part of the story, we have to talk about the onceler. And I think the main issue with the onceler is that they humanized him too much. Obviously in the picture book you don't really see his face, and reads like much more of a creature. I also believe that there was early concept art of the onceler where he was a lot more creature-y but obviously in the movie he ended up as just a guy. And you could argue that this makes sense because in real life it is humans who are at the root of all the things destroying the environment, but the onceler isn't meant to represent one person, he's meant to represent the companies and corporations. And I don't think the whole tumblr sexyman thing was necessarily their fault because I don't think that was intentional or that they could've forseen that, but it's kind of a testament to the fact that he is too sympathetic a character. And I guess that might be sort of the root of my problems with the movie, that everything feels too personal to be as allegorical as the original story feels. Oh yeah also the deleted song "Biggering" is actually really good and in my opinion would have worked much much better than how bad can i be or whatever. I feel like there's a lot more I could say and i'm probably forgetting a bunch of stuff but I'm kind of losing steam and I've already written a ton so I'll leave it at that I guess. I'm not rereading this lol I hope it's at all comprehensible and if anyone reads this whole thing sorry :P oh and DISCLAIMER I haven't watched this movie in a while or read the story so this was just me talking out my ass if I got something wrong or said anything stupid, whoops 🤷🏽

Happy Halloween I suppose. A day full of being able to reject humanity and dress up as the Oncler. Though I guess that isn't a fitting comparison for this site, for if you've been on here long enough you'll understand everything there is to the Oncler. Though today is supposed to be filled of eating candy until until you explode, going out and getting drunk with the minion crew if you are of age, for me it was spent laying in my bed. Sad isn't it?
I don't really have the group to get dressed up with and hit the streets. Seeing the costumes has been nice though. All of the Lorax's and Nintendo characters, Rio and more. That isn't why I'm sad though. Truly it was a long time coming for another episode of mine. I can't place where I am sad, or why the feeling decided that today would be a good day to appear. The tiredness and the chill that runs up my spine despite being tucked under a blanket for the entire day. The shaking from not being able to focus straight and the lack of food and water from not being able to tear myself from bed. I have so many responsibilities I have to do. I can't do any of them it seems. I don't even have the energy to distract myself from this feeling by playing a game or watching a movie. Not that it ever works out for me though.
I could be laughing one minute, watching a livestream that makes me forget for just a small moment, but after that moment? It's like I'm a whole new person. Forced to think about things that aren't happening yet, or won't even happen. Having to tell myself that it will all be okay.
And it will all be okay. It just may take me some time to fully understand that. And that's okay.
Until next time,
Anon

I have this really weird random urge to learn how take such amazing pictures and edit them. No clue how to explain it. I have this black and white mannequin cause yknow fashion design and I want to photograph it with flowers on it and a black fabric draping on it to make a pretty dress and edit the picture so it looks gothic or pretty.
I want to make a movie a beautiful movie and also a movie with a cute villain.
The cute villain one shall be about this random guy who decided to start a business vowing to use his power to help the lower class but after his business takes off he starts taking more risks and getting caught up in greed without realizing it and putting peoples lives at risk for more sales and money. He would only realize his misdeeds after he looses everything, his business and family. He gets so caught up in the greed he does whatever he can to get more it’s like an addiction to him yknow. He will be this cute type of crazy character and for reference he would have a wardrobe like the Lorax guy who made the thneed or twink bill cipher. He’s crazy and only gets more crazier and mentally ill as time goes on up to the point where it’s not even cute or funny anymore it’s just creepy and weird.
The beautiful one I guess it would be about someone like suffering through some sad stuff I guess and retreating to their mind for escapism. After a bit goes on it’s all they want to do and it’s all they think about. You might think it’s a metaphor for drugs but no probably not. Her daydream, her specifically her, becomes more weird more gross more sad emphasis on gross and weird. I’m talking imagining herself killing her worst enemy or doing whatever she wants because nobody can see inside her mind. I lied it’s not beautiful it’s weird it’s disgusting it’s the mind of a serial killer. One day she’s back to imagining everything like normal like murder or whatever but she can’t stop daydreaming. The person she was thinking about was actually her that whole time and then the next scene cuts to her in a mental institution trapped there forever and ever because she’s crazy.
The villain one might be a metaphor to drugs and it’ll have some weird scenes of him hallucinating
It will not be her realizing she is in a metal ward like “oh where am I get me out of here” it will be her still acting like she was in her daydreams because she is crazy and thinks it is real. She will always think it is real and that is her reality that she will never realize is fake

Turbo T. Time is the main protagonist from the 2012 family movie The Lorax. He is canonically a homosexual and has been married to Rick Sanchez for ~10 years. He frequently goes on interdimensional adventures with his loving spouse. Turbo is canonically transgender and the big red T on his helmet, contrary to the popular belief, actually stands for transgender, not Turbo. The T on his helmet actually has a double meaning, it also stands for testosterone, since he is canonically transmasculine. There is a highly controversial scene in the first The Lorax movie where Turbo does his own top surgery in his garage. Since this is considered a family movie, many parents were distraught at the sight of such a gory thing happening in a so-called "family-friendly" movie. I cannot state my opinion on this matter, aside from "SLAY KING!"
Another highly controversial scene in the second movie is where Turbo gets completely butt-naked on camera after it is revealed that King Candy is, in fact, Turbo. He then proceeds to, as members of Generation Z call it, "throw it back". However, the only reason this scene is so controversial is not because of the family-friendliness of him getting naked, but rather the legitimacy of him "throwing it back". Many The Lorax "truthers" as they call themselves say that he is not actually twerking/"throwing it back", but is actually doing a dance popularly known as the "Jerma twerk". In this dance he only moves his knees and feet, rocking his body on the balls of his feet rather than moving his spine and gyrating his hips.
Turbo has explicitly stated that he never ever wants to have children and a main character trait of his is that he hates children and everything to do with them. Turbo has brutally axe murdered Vanellope Von Schweetz on MULTIPLE occasions and will stop at nothing to kill her again. She respawns every single time and he just kills her again. And again. And again. He does this because she is a child and he hate hate hates children. He even rewrote the AM hate speech and made it about his hate for children and Vanellope Von Schweetz in particular. He has also, in his words, "Pushed [her] into a meat grinder" and stated that she'd "probably be dead!". After he followed through with this, the only thing that remained was her eyeball. It was NOT an instant-kill move.
Turbo also has a very strong presence on the social media app Tumblr. He very frequently posts about his triumph and disgust at being the so-called "number one Tumblr Sexyman". He has stated on multiple occasions that he dislikes how people "thirst" for him, but also appreciates that he's winning at something.
Tumblr user Randomalistic has made a ~2 hour long video essay about him saying how much of a queer icon he is and how he has greatly shaped the LGBTQIA+ community. However, she also talks about how she is concerned about the jaundice representation in The Lorax with Turbo. She says that, "while jaundice is totally a bad disease to have bruh, it should most definitely not be used as a means of bullying turbo throughout the movie. Not cool bro." She talks about how the writing makes it seem okay to bully somebody with jaundice even though, in her words, it's "definitely not fucking okay dude".
youtube
Long story short, Turbo is most definitely a queer icon and has greatly influenced and shaped LGBTQIA+ culture and internet culture as a whole. He has changed the world ever since 2012. Thank you so much Miyazaki for making The Lorax!
And of course, this essay would not be complete without an image of our Lord and Savior! So here he is, a real life photo taken of our glorious king. In his full glorious glory! SLAY!

i’ve been thinking about bowsers little musical number ever since jack black teased he’d be doing some rocking in the movie (and it was also revealed that Toad has a song of his own which is already awesome), so here’s some of my thoughts on how bowsers musical debut could go down:
as soon as i heard about the possibility of bowser rocking, i instantly knew it had the potential to be a fun/energized scene. Then, I started wondering if the music would be something along the lines of 80’s/90’s rock (We Will Rock you - Queen, Highway To Hell - AC/DC, Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne), Broadway-theatre-type villain songs, or even the sort of style from “How Bad Can I Be” (Lorax). I also thought of the possibility of the writers including some ‘Mario Game Music’ into it, like BOWSERS THEME “A Boss Approaches” from Super Mario 3D World - (could you imagine how that would sound if it were played cinematically?? the jazz/saxophones paired with rock?!?). It’s definitely going to be some sort of “villain melody” which i’m really looking forward to, and if by any chance he sings, the lyrics will most likely be about word domination and capturing the stars from the other Kingdoms - i could see the lyrical style having a dark-ish comedic tone. Like, it’s a fun song and all but the lyrics are about wrecking kingdoms and “ruling the world” lol.
It’d also be really cool if it includes some ‘spiffy dialogue’ in between lyrics (like, you know how a character in a film will give some one-liners while the other character sings? something like that!) - if it were to go down this route, I definitely could see Luigi and Bowser having some sort of duet lol. ((Bowser having his ‘villain monologue’ moment and Luigi offering some comedic dialogue/one-liners 👌)). It would be fun to see the contrasting personalities between these two characters paired together, which is why i think a Bowser/Luigi duet could really work. It could also tie into their character arcs, (i’ve heard theories where Luigi will attempt to help Bowser become a good guy, or just try to talk him down from his whole “world domination” plan, which could make for an interesting duet sequence!)
anyways, the mario movie having a musical side to it is the cherry on top for me, and i really can’t wait to see what the movie has in store for us!

What is "let it flow" about? I think the art is amazing but i still cant tell what the plot is :)
I'm glad you enjoy it! :D I understand that the plot isn't super easy to grasp at the moment, the AU has really been built on the spot and the informations are a bit scattered c: I'll try to collect the links from all the relevant posts for this and in order, hopefully it'll help to understand!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Going back to the beginning, Let It Flow was basically just a huge joke we made between us (@ampreh, our friend Alink and I) during our holidays together and ended up printing as a souvenir; nothing serious, just a parody of the movie where the Once-ler (now the Cashtealer for the occasion) is a gambler and a player and builds a casino that ruins the area instead of cutting trees.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- - - - Let It Flow Fanzine (or "how it all began in April 2022") - - - - - There's a summary on this post if you want to see it fully ↓ • https://ampreh.tumblr.com/post/686861563132575744/on-that-note-lets-continue-with-part-1-enjoy
And then one thing led to another and it became a more and more serious project and more and more distant from the basic film script, to get to where we are today!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Nowadays, Let it Flow is an AU in which everything has gone very wrong: the Cashtealer doesn't age any more and is a superpowered being, he steals people's souls by betting and gambling against them and imprisons them in his casino frozen in time, in which they will be forced to work for him forever.
He lives in a completely distorted Thneedville, renamed Vileville over time, where chaos and insecurity reign.
Tumblr media

You can notice a truffula seed in our Ted's hand on the right, but it's not meant to be planted; there is, in fact, no problem with deforestation at all in this AU, since the Cashtealer is not interested in Thneeds (although they exist, and our Audrey (left) is in charge of producing them). Truffula seeds are actually used as a drug by people of Vileville, and because none of them has access to the forest, Théodore is the one in charge of all the seed traffic and deals in town.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is actually an idea we had since the beginning and that we kept from the very first version of Ted and Let it Flow !
Cashtea has been here for a very long time; he has seen whole generations born and die, the inhabitants of Vileville have known nothing but this situation, do not know why things are the way they are, and Cashtea himself has forgotten.
As for the Bankax (our version of the Lorax, with a name inherited from our parody where he spoke on behalf of the banks and the money that gets squandered in bets), he is not afraid to take up arms against him to try and stop him from stealing souls.
They regularly fight in sword duels, and he is forced to live hidden in the underbelly of the city as the Cashtealer does not hesitate to use violence against him or to catch him and imprison him.

During the Weehawken event, the Bankax explained how Vileville was and what he knows about the Cashtealer - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - • https://at.tumblr.com/thebankax/i-met-a-lorax-for-the-first-time/nizuj5u9rjir
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the same RP event, Cashtea went through a lot of character development that can help figure out this whole time loop and memory issues thing. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This is not part 1, but there is a summary at the bottom to access all the parts; the prologue is less important if you are only interested in Cashtea • https://www.tumblr.com/the-cashtealer/699574936235360256/camp-weehawken-2022-mine
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Tumblr media
Even the Cashtealer's henchmen (@wesley-the-damn-glowing-boy, @la-rouquine-of-vileville, Theodore Wijins (no blog yet)) are only so because he forces them to; they'd each like to find a way to end this, to break the time freeze and the Cashtealer's domination, but don't know how because it's impossible to kill him or win against him.
Tumblr media
As for @audrey-derosefeuille, the fourth person close to him, she has no reason to want to change this since she is the head of the Vileville mafia and benefits enormously from the state of things.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
In short, I think you could sum up the plot as follows:
• You have to find a way to restore order in this world by eliminating a super-powerful being who can't be eliminated, by discovering the reason why things are the way they are!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Tumblr media
For this reason, we like to scatter bits of information and clues here and there, like in this post for example ! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - • https://ampreh.tumblr.com/post/699399320646139904/two-eights-for-a-clover-a-clover-for-a-door-in
An important thing to note is that you can enter Vileville, but once you're in and if you don't have a key, given by the master of the place to allow his guests to teleport to his kingdom at any time, you can't get out; it's like a gigantic prison because the Cashtealer wants as many people as possible with him!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I'm deliberately leaving out a lot of details for fear that it's too much information at once, but I think it's a decent summary of the basic theme of the story!
I hope it's clear enough and that it has helped you or others who are wondering; don't hesitate to ask me for clarification if it's too confusing :)

I think overall, we view Ted as a hero because of our own bias.
Ted is never portrayed as a villain and from the beginning he is presented as a hero. And in our view point everything we are being told about this character is that he is a good guy. Ted is the type of person that writers really like to use, awkward, social outcast, and a little different. And we root for him, because we unconsciously see ourselves as Ted. Even though we are not. We sing let it live because that’s what good guys do. We are the protagonist, not the villain. If we flipped the script, and now we are watching a movie about a small business, the owner being the outcast, finally getting his break and banking off of something someone never thought of. And it is under attack by someone who sees it as unrewarded gain. And of course you’re going to say “I wouldn’t root for a hero like that, they are obviously the bad guy,” here is how I’m going to fight that: the Oncler. We know from the beginning that he wasn’t good. But presented from the same view, small business finally getting its break, you still rooted for him. Maybe not to the extent of Ted but you didn’t pin him as a villain. More of a lost hero, he in fact changed his views, right?
You are being told from the beginning of the story, by how they present the information about these characters who is the good guy, and who is the bad guy. For example, art- Ted, Oncler, “the good guys” are present fairly close to human proportions and style. They are both fairly attractive too. While Mr. O’hare is dramatized, very small body, with a bad haircut and dramatized suit. He is not conventionally attractive. His goons are also exaggerated, being very large with tiny heads. (I have a whole other rant on villainized disabilities- but I won’t get into that) with the Oncler he starts like your everyday guy, but as he becomes the bad guy his attire changes to be less conventional and more dramatic, the long green sleeves, the sun glasses, etc. we don’t even see his face until the end of the movie when he has been absolved.
We are also told from the beginning that the Lorax is a good guy. But he doesn’t look very human, which goes against the narrative of ‘good guys’ look conventionally human while ‘bad guys’ are dramatized versions….
Aaaaaand I lost my motivation, but y’all get my point. Ted is the hero because we are being told he is the hero. I was gonna do a whole thing on the Lorax, the song “Biggering”/“how bad can I be,” color, and how bias affects us in rl, but I just don’t feel like it ig.
me and my brother need to settle something so here you go:
Is Ted Wiggins from The Lorax a villain for destroying a near-perfect society (technically dystopia) or a hero for bringing about a change that overall improved society?
discuss.
