Twa things! First, the animation on the trees that I started on Saturday finished, and the trees swaying in the wind is actually visible! I can see it happening! Everything is staying connected! YAY, ME!!!! :D :D :D ACCOMPLISHING STUFF!!!! :D :D :D

Tag rant in a previous post where I thought about this: #my parents didn't want to deal with me talking about 'weird' dreams #so they just made sure i didn't remember certain types of dreams #so other people have had or remembered way more interesting dreams than I have had #it really sucks because i'm so interested in hypnosis to have fun dreams!!!! and I want to do that!!!! but my parents wanted me to have #BORING DREAMS #like if the dursleys learned hypnosis

So like what if Petunia and Vernon knew hypnosis or knew someone who did? Could they have hypnotized Harry to forget when he was doing magic and not believe magic was possible? And normalized all the neglect and abuse with it? What would have happened when he started receiving Hogwarts letters? Would Hagrid have tried to collect Harry and have had to deal with a Harry that just didn't believe him? Would the Wizarding World have had as much familiarity with hypnosis as muggles? Would Arthur Weasley just happened to have known hypnosis from his time in the Office of Muggle Artefacts?

Where is this fanfic already and if it isn't anywhere who's gonna write it for me? Can someone walk down a stairway real quick and count steps until they're at a high level of susceptibility? Okay now write this Harry potter hypnosis AU fanfic. Thanks.

hee! you're so welcome! I just worry so much that newer writers are being put off by the overwhelming amount of people talking about how much research they do for their stories, like it's a requirement. I mean - if you enjoy researching then by all means do it, but if you don't, you don't have to.

I basically write what I know about, and if I don't know about something, I probably won't be inspired to write about it. If I need to check something small, I'll look it up, but I am buggered if I'm doing masses of research for something that is basically a hobby. For me, research is something I associate with work (I'm an archivist, and it is not at all my favourite part of my job), and I don't want to be doing it in my free time. So I just write.

And that's okay! I am kissing all of you on the forehead and giving you permission to write the story without researching if you don't want to. Make it up! Check it afterwards! Don't check it afterwards! Whatever makes you happy. <333333

the thing is that childhood doesn't just end when you turn 18 or when you turn 21. it's going to end dozens of times over. your childhood pet will die. actors you loved in movies you watched as a kid will die. your grandparents will die, and then your parents will die. it's going to end dozens and dozens of times and all you can do is let it. all you can do is stand in the middle of the grocery store and stare at freezers full of microwave pizza because you've suddenly been seized by the memory of what it felt like to have a pizza party on the last day of school before summer break. which is another ending in and of itself
