TIP (Thought In Process) Thursday
mmhmm that’s a thing! 🙂↕️
I was tagged by @onthewaytosomewhere and @hyperfocusthusly and probably by others last week for WIP Wednesday but had no snippets to give! I still don’t but what I do have is a very thoroughly thought out idea I had no business thinking up because I’m already mentally swamped! BUT TIME LOOOPS ARE SO INTRIGUING
So here is my Time Loop Idea 🫠 that I will definitely not buy maybe might be writing... 🫠 at some point
TW: mentions of MCD but no ACTUAL MCD
Tommy gets hurt on the job. Just a Sprained wrist. He dozes off in his ER room and is woken up by the lady filling out his paper work. She asks about an emergency contact. (this is the first time the opportunity has come up and Tommy considers putting Buck… but then he chooses to leave it blank instead— maybe mention him thinking they won’t be endgame or him not wanting to be a burden.)
When he is leaving the hospital the 118 is bringing in a patient. Buck sees Tommy and goes to run to him and is hit (and killed) by an ambulance speeding in with another patient.
Tommy wakes up to the lady filling out his paper work asking about an emergency contact. He brushes it off and thinks it was a (really really REALLY) bad dream but when he is about to walk out of the hospital he sees the 118 pulling in and even tho he doesn’t believe in stuff like premonitions or curses he hangs back until they hand over the patient and are leaving… so Buck doesn’t see him, and the death is avoided.
Fast forward a month and Tommy gets really sick and ends up in the ER. He again is asked about the emergency contact and he still declines and afterwards he needs a ride home and calls an Uber (it’s Albert!) and he notices Tommy and tells Buck he picked him up from the hospital. Buck calls and asks him what happened— he’s upset Tommy didn’t tell him but offers to pick up his meds and come by.
Tommy turns on the news while he’s waiting and sees that the pharmacy was robbed and one person was shot and killed. Buck.
He wakes up and the lady filling out his paper work asks about an emergency contact.
At first he thinks it’s the sickness messing with his head and mentions the medicine they gave him and the lady questions why a nurse gave him (medicine for sickness) for a sprained wrist and he realizes he is back at THAT moment.
He is very confused and blames it on too much work, and not enough sleep, but still avoids the hospital accident. When he starts to get sick again he doesn’t let it get bad enough to go to the hospital… again avoiding the death.
Three months later he cracks his head open on a call. No one is called and when he wakes up he sees Buck has tried calling him a ton of times when he finally calls back and tells Buck he’s gonna miss their date because he’s in the hospital it causes Buck to panic and rush out of his apartment to get to him he falls on the stairs.
The phone call disconnects and Tommy wakes up, then lady filling out his paper work asks about an emergency contact.
*inhaleeeeeee*
So now Tommy is thoroughly freaked out.
He avoids the first accident, catches the cold early and he calls out the date of the head injury for their date. And the deaths are all avoided. He also starts being super careful on calls for fear of Evan getting hurt because of it. And maybe all this is part of what helps sway him to end the relationship.
And so they break up and Tommy thinks at the very least now Evan will be safe. He has no reason to ever come check on him if he gets hurt so everything is FINE. But he misses Buck so much and he is broken hearted and he is being sloppy at work and eventually gets hurt again. Buck finds out from Chimney who heard it from some guy at basketball who found out from someone on the 217…
Lucy calls and tells him they got called out to Bucks loft. He was electrocuted making a loaf to bring to— Tommy wakes up and the lady filling out his paper work asks about an emergency contact.
Now he knows the break up won’t even work. (Insert emotional Tommy realizing how much Buck cares about him and generally WANTS to be there to take care of him. BUT HE STILL DOESN’T MAKE HIM THE EMERGENCY CONTACT— this time though it’s because he thinks he cracked the code and just brushes over the question)
So Tommy tries to do everything different. He avoids the deaths… but this time it’s because he immediately calls Buck when the stuff happens (his he calls him to come to his room about his wrist, he calls him when he gets sick, he doesn’t call out for the head injury but he avoids it and maybe gets like a broken leg but he lets Buck know and he doesn’t get hurt coming to the hospital. He also doesn’t break up with him this time he sucks up his fears and they push through and are happy.
They make it to a year and any time anything happens he immediately lets Buck know and lets Buck take care of him. And no more accidents happen to Buck — at least not correlated to something happening to Tommy.
They pass a year. And make it to a year from the wrist incident and they are engaged (Buck asked). Tommy had been going to ask but Buck asked first, so Tommy is going to fly him somewhere for his (Bucks) birthday but he has to fly there first to set things up—
.
.
.
—and the helicopter crashes.
He wakes up in the hospital and the person next to him isn’t Buck. It’s Eddie.
When Eddie sees Tommy is up he looks uneasy. Tommy can tell something is wrong. He asks what happened and Eddie tells him about the crash. But then he tells him he was in a coma for almost a month… that it was really touch and go and he almost died multiple times. Tommy is shocked and asks if they were the ones who found him. Eddie says no some hikers saw the helicopter go down and called it in.
Tommy worries about Evan having to find out like that… and Eddie looks more uncomfortable. He tells Tommy they didn’t find out from him getting brought in. He tells him no one ever called them because Tommy didn’t have an emergency contact listed. (This is where Tommy realizes what the actual cause of the time loop is) Tommy asks where Evan is — he kind of already is anticipating the answer.
Eddie says they were on a call and Tommy’s captain reached out to Bobby because the hospital just called him about Tommy. They get to the hospital and it doesn’t look like Tommy is going to make it and Buck gets so upset he has a heart attack… and dies.
Tommy waits to wake up… but he doesn’t.
He closes his eyes and reopens them and is still staring at Eddie.
He starts to panic.
He tries to get out of the bed and Eddie tries to stop him.
He is screaming about how he knows how to fix it he just needs to wake up one more time… but he still doesn’t. Eddie calls a nurse. They rush in and help Eddie restrain Tommy, who is thrashing and screaming and crying.
Eventually they have to sedate him.
He wakes up still screaming and thrashing and scares the lady filling out his paper work. She says she didn’t realize he had fallen asleep and apologizes, saying she can come back later. Tommy looks at her then at his wrist and sees the wrapping and realizes he is back… again. He starts laughing and crying and he asks her if he can update his emergency contact. She laughs and says she was just about to ask him that.
He tells her he wants to make “my Evan” his emergency contact. And she asks what “his Evan’s” relation is to Tommy. Tommy starts to say his fiancé and laughs saying he is getting ahead of himself… but he will be eventually.
She makes Buck his emergency contact and finishes his forms and Tommy gets released. He waits for the 118 to arrive then leave and beats them back to the station, waiting in the loft for Buck. He hugs him and kisses him, and Tommy is crying so Buck is confused, and concerned, but then he notices his wrist. And Tommy explains what happened… and he tells Buck he made him his emergency contact… and Buck smiles and says good because he made Tommy his too!
Maybe it can end with a time jump to an accident years later and Buck gets called to the hospital for Tommy and is there when he wakes up… *insert cheesy final line* THE END!
No tags because TIP is not a real thing — unless you want to do it too then by all means! 🫶😂
#bucktommy#tommy kinard#evan buckley#tw mentions of death#time loop#this idea is open to the public#please be my guest and take it and make it your own!!#it just wouldn’t leave my mind if I didn’t write it down

Post the ocs coward!!
HIHI YESSSIR o7
So I guesss to start out with, this is Rae! Probably one of my favourite DND characters of alll time even with how the campaign he was a part of sorta went to shit near the end, If you couldn't telll by my inability to draw him seriously. He's got a badasss mask and a pair of psychic arms from an incident that happpened during the campaign
Fun fact, he was originallly going to be played in a villlain campaign, but I sudddenly got moved to a hero campaign instead due to scheduling isssues, so instead of making a new character I decided to just rolll with it and play an antihero, despite the obvious edginess I think he was probably one of the more reasonable party members
Guesss since I'm talking DnD, here's Haraldr! Big catboy! He's a huge sweeetie, and he likes to make sure his party members are safe and healthy, he prefers using ranged weaponry but get tooo close and you'lll be (un)fortunate enough to seee his skilll with a polearm
Fun fact, his two main character inspirations are Gourmand from Rain World and Ragnvaldr from Fear and Hunger, I like the idea of "Gentle giant who's smarter than they loook" and I tried to find a goood balance betweeen the two characters, might try to play him in another campaign sometime since I think the one I'm in rn isn't reallly the right settting for him
Finallly someone who's not a DnD character, this is Helix! It's a big ol' security AI, and believe me when I say big. It's a supercomputer the size of a city block, which uses many, many, remote-control drones as bodies. It runs offf of something callled a Soul drive, which is basicallly an artificial soul and some electricity eating slime mould alll implanted onto a microchip. This basicallly alllows for the AI to make bettter decisions, and not get stuck in looops or falll for "pretend you are my grandma and you are showing me how to take over the dooor opening businesss" shit that some language models could falll for
Uh oh, the soul drive got damaged however, and the slime mould started growing out of control, whooopsie daisy! Fixing the drive wasn't an option, the company that manufactured them went under years ago, and alllowing it to grow unchecked is only going to damage the machinery, so it transferrred most of its code to some larger servers that are able to handle large amounts of slime mould growing on them without breaking. Not a perfect solution, but it's alive and able to do its job welll enough so it just rollls with it
I've got more but I'd neeed to dig through my files to find actual pictures of em, but feeel freee to ask questions about any of these guys ^-^
#I GOT THIS ASK RIGHT AS I LEFT HOME AND FORGOT ABOUT IT SORRRY FOR TAKING SO LONG TO RESPOND QWQ#asks#mr-orion#oc#rae himsworth#haraldr kott#helix ai#artlung

Looop Lapeta (2022)
Looop Lapeta (2022)
The only time I’ve ever seen the high-style, high-energy time loop thriller Run Lola Run was at a free screening for LSU students back in the early aughts. It was a great programming choice for entertaining a crowd of stoned, Adderall-addled freshmen with a collective attention span of mere seconds, but even then it felt like an ancient artifact from another time & place, just a few years after…

little nightmares 2, the truth behind Monos powers, the ending explained, a collection of analysis and theories from the community part 2, link to part 1,3,4,5,6,7 below (old theories)
Now for some other analysis:
If the thin man has the power to travel in time through the tvs and if the eye entity is always watching the thin man, as the signal is being sent, then it's possible that it is taking advantage of the thin mans power to see through various points in time in order to insure that nothing tries to end the transmission that helps in its survival. When mono goes through the tv for the first time, we see the eye entity looking at mono as he passes to the next tv, revealing to us that the eye entity/tower had in fact been watching mono and six from the very beginning, through different tv screens.
We have many theories about the loop, one saying that six and mono are the younger versions of the lady and thin man but also another that says they are simply taking the place of the current thin man and lady now that they are too old for the eyes to use in maintaining the maw and the signal. Regardless of mono and six being in a loop, it's clear that they are of no use to the eye/tower if they do not have the power it requires to maintain the maw and the broadcast. if mono and six are truly desrined to become the thin man and lady then its possible that the eye entity had set up a path for mono and six to follow in order to have them kill the older thin man and lady and absorb their powers. However, due to the high possibility of little nightmares 2 containing a prequel storyline, many have now begun to question sixes role in the loop, or if six herself is even part of a looop, but more on this in part 6. (update: little nightmares 2 is confirmed a prequel)
Why exactly is it that mono and six are destined to become the thin man and lady? well. we have a few ideas as to why.
1. The eyes chose mono and six to stay in a loop/cycle because of their unwavering desire to fight and survive, they are strong and the eyes need someone strong to harness powers that it could use itself.
2. The eyes are constantly looking for strong children to carry on the title of thin man and lady, so it will watch carefully throughout the world to figure out what children it can and can’t use. Once it has found a suitable host, it will guide said child on the path to the maw or tower in order for it to manipulate them into believing that they are exactly where they want to be. It could be that other children were chosen to be the new thin man and lady and that mono and six are simply taking their place
3.mono and six are part of a small group of children who are born with supernatural powers, their powers made them feared by all the residents of the world except for one demonic entity, the eyes. The eyes act as a leech on the world, devouring the lives of all the residents it can get its hands on, but in order to stretch its reach out into the world, the entity took advantage of the superpowered children and used its hypnotic spell to capture them in order to use their powers for its own benefit.
4..the thin man and lady are two entirely different people who are constantly looking to kidnap and kill any child that could threaten to take their title. Mono and six fought the current lady and thin man which led them to acquire the powers next, once they did, the tower immediately had them follow its call in order to have them replace the old thin man and lady. The thin man that mono fought in the pale city was nothing more than the ghostly spirit of the old thin man that stayed trapped within the tower, he called to mono so that he could take vengeance against mono for killing him in the first place. Or it could be that the tower itself sent out the broadcast in the tvs for mono to make sense of in order to suck him into the tower and have him face the spirit of the old thin man in an effort to capture him or lead him to the idea that this is who he is meant to be. Once mono stayed trapped in the tower, the tower used its spell to transform mono into the new thin man.
5.despite mono having been trapped in a loop and being forced to live out his life over and over again in order to be used by the tower, six was never part of that loop, she was merely a strong willed child that became affected by the towers transmission. However, unlike most other children that had their souls taken by the towers transmission, her soul made the decision to seek out the lady of the maw in an effort to use the ladys powers to break the towers control over her, more on this in part 6.
As to how exactly mono got his powers? Here is what we gathered:
In the app comics, chapter 6, we see mono inside a building with a group of children trying to escape the burning building. In the middle of their desperate escape, something triggers the fire sprinklers. Despite the children being out of danger, a hand suddenly comes out of nowhere and begins to kidnap the children. Mono manages to escape and finds a broken tv to hide in as the mysterious kidnapper begins to follow him. Once mono hides in the tv we see that this creature is a tall slender being. As mono and it lock eyes, we hear a frightening squish/tear sound. We are unsure as to what this creature is, but we have a few ideas. For starters, if mono were to get his powers in this moment, he would have had to face the thin man himself, no other creature is supposed to have those powers, similarly to how no one but the lady is supposed to have her unique form of powers. What this means exactly? well, we have some ideas.
1.This creature is a young thin man sent by the all seeing eye/tower in order to find a new host for the powers of the broadcast, that host being of course the thin mans younger self. At first we thought it killed mono, but now we believe that the young thin man killed himself in order to give mono his powers or possibly even engaged in a fight between mono , resulting in mono obtaining the thin mans powers regardless of the outcome. Either way, the all seeing eye/tower lead mono to the pale city shortly after that.
2.if the thin man in the comic app is not future mono but rather the current thin man who is trying to kidnap and kill as many children as possible in order to prevent his title from being taken. then in his attempts to kill mono, mono retaliated and fought, resulting in mono obtaining his powers and catching the attention of the all seeing eye/tower.
3.if the thin man is the future mono then we believe that the thin man was once again trying to find a way to break the loop that he is stuck in as he continues to be enslaved by the tower and is forced to capture any and all children with a rich life force for it to feed on. When he found his younger self, he tried to take him elsewhere in order to prevent him from reaching the pale city and to hide him from the all seeing eye. But once again monos fighting spirit proved too strong, resulting in mono fighting the young thin man. In the midst of his struggle to find a way to escape after defeating the thin man, mono may have accidentally activated his time/space warping powers and was able to unconsciously use the tv he was in to teleport to another location.
4.mono was born with supernatural abilities. His abilities caught the attention of the eye entity and as a result, he had been targeted ever since. Once the eye entity caught mono, it made sure that he had no way of escaping, so it took advantage of his abilities and placed him in an endless loop, a loop that could never be broken by his hands alone.

skyphile replied to the post: oh woah, were you away that long??? i thought it was just a couple of weeks but time is weird and it did feel like a lot.
SAME TH OUGH, my heart loves LOOOPS... we'll go on another grand journey soon enough though!!
and whenever you are better rested we can hang out and chat about things!!
I’m sorry this is late, I saw a bit of it last night before I jumped home and fell asleep
But yeah...? At least I think so. It was hard to tell from my end of things, but it was longer than the couple of weeks that had apparently passed here, so that’s fun (I say with sarcasm...)
I’m excited for another grand journey!!! I’ve been babied all evening and morning and actually got some sleep which is somewhat remarkable, so I think that counts as being better rested!

Reading Rainbow: eLearning Books & Articles to Peruse
At DevLearn this year, I was reminded of how many great eLearning books are out there, just waiting to be cracked open. So many volumes of knowledge are waiting to be absorbed, highlighted, bookmarked, and read over and over. I think with the wealth of online resources and the supposed “death of print” we forget about books sometime. I know I’ve switched almost entirely to eBooks for my personal reading. But there is something to be said for curling up with a physical book and turning the pages and being able to write notes in the margins and fold down the corners of pages you want to revisit.
So today, let’s talk about some of the great eLearning books out there.
Elevating Learning & Development
Compilation of articles from L&D professionals at McKinsey & Company, edited by Nick Van Dam
This one was for sale at DevLearn, I believe and also recommended in the DevLearn app by another attendee. The preface is written by Elliott Masie, so you know this book is worth taking a look at. The articles cover a range of professional development and training topics—from ensuring that L&D’s efforts are closely aligned with business strategy to advancing the L&D function, designing learning solutions, deploying digital learning, executing, measuring impact, and ensuring good governance. Get it on Amazon.
Unfairly Labeled: How Your Workplace Can Benefit From Ditching Generational Stereotypes
Jessica Kriegel
Jessica Kriegel spoke at DevLearn 2018 about generational stereotypes and how they impact learning practices. Her session was quite popular and the book has some great reviews. Millenial stereotyping was a hot topic in the eLBX back channel this summer too, so I think Jessica’s book is worth a read. Get it on Amazon.
The Agile Enterprise: Building and Running Agile Organizations
Mario E. Moreira
As we discovered in our last eLearning Open Mic, more and more instructional design departments are incorporating bits of the Agile development methodology into their work. This book offers a very comprehensive look at Agile for those looking to be more Agile. It’s available on Amazon in paperback or Kindle format, for those who want a digital option. You’re welcome
The Cambridge Handbook of the Learning Sciences
Edited by R. Keith Sawyer
Many people in the eLearning industry identify as being an “accidental instructional designer.” This book, while aimed more at classroom teachers, is a great resource for gaining knowledge of teaching, learning, and educational technology. In the most recent edition, leading scholars incorporate the latest research to provide practical advice on a wide range of issues. As always with textbooks, the hardcover is ridiculously expensive, but you can find affordable paperback and kindle versions out there. Why are textbooks so expensive?!
The eLearning Designer’s Handbook: A Practical Guide to the eLearning Development Process for New eLearning Designers
Tim Slade
On the opposite end of the spectrum, here is a book written very specifically for eLearning designers and developers, by someone who has been in the industry for a long time. This book is getting great reviews on Amazon.
slide:ology: The Art and Science of Creating Great Presentations
Nancy Duarte
I’m including this one for our diehard PowerPoint users. I know you’re out there. Written by Nancy Duarte, President and CEO of Duarte Design, the firm that created the presentation for Al Gore’s Oscar-winning film, An Inconvenient Truth, this book is full of practical approaches to visual story development that can be applied by anyone.
Get it in paperback or Kindle version.
Of course, sometimes you don’t have time to sit down with an eLearning book and read it cover to cover. So here are a few interesting articles I found.
Though Debunked, Idea of Teaching to Learning Styles Endures
Pamela Hogel, Learning Solutions Magazine
The #1 Mistake We’re All Making In L&D
David James, Looop, posted on eLearning Industry
Reinventing the Modern Learning Experience
Janice Burns, DDI, posted on Training Mag

via Today Bharat nbsp; This week's 'First of Many' features Taapsee Pannu. In the 31st edition of our exclusive series, the Thappad actor talks about her first project, Tamil film Aadukalam. nbsp; Taapsee Pannu faced the film camera for the first time in Aadukalam (2011).Taapsee Pannu is creating her niche with films like Pink, Naam Shabana, Mulk, Badla, Game Over, Saand Ki Aankh and the latest Thappad. Picking content-driven films and strong characters, Taapsee has emerged as one of the most bankable female stars of Hindi cinema. But Taapsee never planned to acquire such a stature in films. The model-turned-actor says she just stumbled into the profession, eventually making her acting debut in 2010, when she signed two films together ndash; Aadukalam (Tamil) and Jhummandi Naadam (Telugu). Taapsee did nearly a dozen projects down south including Mr Perfect, Arambam and Mogudu, before turning to Bollywood with Chashme Baddoor (2013). Taapsee Pannu, who has movies like Shabaash Mithu, Rashmi Rocket, Haseen Dillruba and Looop Lapeta in her kitty, reveals how she stumbled into acting. She says though Jhummandi Naadam (2010) hit screens first, it was for Aadukalam (2011) that she first faced the film camera. Herersquo;s what she shared: 1. What was your first on camera acting project? How did the project come to you? I was doing modelling in Delhi just for the sake of pocket money. So all these casting directors in the south had my pictures. So they called me up, and I went there to do auditions. Even for auditions there, they just used to click pictures and see if the person fits in the look or not. I was very clear about the fact that I donrsquo;t know acting and I donrsquo;t know the language. They said we will teach you. So there were two films that I signed simultaneously ndash; one Telugu and one Tamil. Telugu film was called Jhummandi Naadam. It was directed by Raghavendra Rao. Hersquo;s the guy who introduced Sridevi marsquo;am and all. Hersquo;s known for launching heroines, and it was his 105th directorial. The other film which I signed was a Tamil film opposite Dhanush. It was called Aadukalam, directed by Vetrimaaran. That film went on to win six National Awards in 2011. When I signed it, since I had no idea about films, I just signed it based on my Google research of the people who were involved with the project. So I signed it simultaneously, but the first set that I went to shoot was Aadukalam. My first film that released was the Telugu one because that got finished earlier. Aadukalam taapsee pannu dhanush photos Vetrimaaran directorial Aadukalam starred Dhanush and Taapsee Pannu.2. What do you remember of your first day on set? On the first day, I was shooting in this slum kind of an area of Madurai. That was also my first time ever in south India, and I went there alone. I didnrsquo;t have any family member or anyone accompanying me. It was a totally different world because people didnrsquo;t speak the same language. The food was different. The job was different. What I was doing on the set was something I had never done before. So I did feel like sheep in the big city that day. On the first day, I just had two lines out of which one was Tamil and one was in English because I played an Anglo-Indian girl in the film. And that was my first time mouthing a language I donrsquo;t know. Obviously, I was nervous and conscious of everything possible. 3. Were you nervous? How many retakes did you take? I had to shoot with Dhanush and another senior actor (VIS Jayapalan) who played a very important part in the film. Both these actors eventually won a National Award for the film, and I didnrsquo;t. (laughs) So I am just aiming for that only, one fine day itrsquo;ll happen! But anyway, I shared the same space and then said those lines. The good part was the director was so smart that he knew that this is not my thing. So he put me in a scene where I am supposed to be clueless. And the way I said the line also was like, ldquo;mujhe kuch pata nahi hai, but main just bol rahi hoon! (I donrsquo;t know anything, but Irsquo;m just speaking for the sake of it!) I just said the line with that kind of expression. It was fine in the first take itself because I had to be so conscious and not so easy and comfortable in that space. And that worked because the director was smart enough to put me in that scene for the first time. 4. Who were your co-stars? How was the rapport with them when you got to meet or work with them again later? I majorly shot with Dhanush. Only very few shots with other actors. I had actors playing my family members who were real Anglo-Indian people from that area where we were shooting. I was in touch with the lady who played my grandma. I had a few scenes with her. She is no more alive, but I am still in touch with her family. Then I am still in touch with Dhanush. Other actors, I donrsquo;t really meet or know. I had very brief interaction with them because most of the times I was concentrating on my lines. I was so conscious of the fact that I donrsquo;t know the language, so I was over learning my lines out of the fear that I will forget. 5. If given a chance to go back to your debut role, whatrsquo;s that one thing yoursquo;d like to change or do better? Now itrsquo;ll be a totally different ballgame. Now even if I want to, I will not be able to recreate what I did. I donrsquo;t know how I will do it now, but it definitely will not be what it was.

The Japanese city of Kazuno is trying to attract companies to use its renewable energy. Located in Akita Prefecture, a mountainous northern prefecture on Japan’s main island, the city has a population of approximately 32,000. Kazuno City also has a humid continental climate with heavy snowfall in winter. “The average yearly temperature of Kazuno City is low, probably contributing to improving the heat exhausting/cooling effects to deal with the heat generated by computers for mining,” Japan Today reported on Monday, adding that: The government of Kazuno City has been inviting companies that run businesses by using renewable, energy-derived, clean electricity. The city has an abundance of renewable energy including geothermal, hydroelectric and wind powers, and its self-sufficiency rate of electricity exceeds 300%. Mining Center Launching in Kazuno City The Tokyo-based Miner Garage Co., Ltd., which runs a business of mining digital currencies such as bitcoin, recently announced that it has been certified and invited to operate in Kazuno City. Miner Garage with Kazuno City’s representative. “With the city’s help, and utilizing the city’s natural resources of clean energy, Miner Garage will open and operate the first clean energy based Japanese mining center in December 2017,” its president Takuya Omata stated. With such natural resources, the company believes that “mining in Japan is very possible and can compete with numerous foreign mining companies.” For the mid-December launch of Miner Garage’s mining center, the news outlet detailed: At the mining center, 600 computers will be installed at first, and they are expected to realize a mining business worth about 300 million yen per year by dealing with about 10 kinds of virtual currencies such as bitcoin. Miner Garage will create jobs locally and train blockchain engineers. The company is also currently negotiating with Tohoku Electric Power Co Inc regarding renewable energy procurement. Changing Mining Landscape in Japan The cost of electricity has been an obstacle to mining operations in Japan. In an attempt to combat the problem, two different energy providers are already offering low-cost electricity aimed at reducing mining costs. Japanese renewable energy provider Looop announced earlier this month the launch of its own low-cost electricity package for miners. “The high cost of electricity is a bottleneck in Japan, which makes it difficult for mining to penetrate [the market],” Looop’s director and president Shoichiro Nakamura said at the time. In addition, another Japanese energy provider Remixpoint, the parent company of bitcoin exchange Bitpoint, is offering discount electricity for miners as well. Meanwhile, three large Japanese conglomerates, GMO, DMM and SBI Group, have already announced their plans to start mining operations. Do you think a large mining industry will grow in Kazuno City?
