Every time I get a message like this (which is a lot) I save it and keep it in an album. I've learned that if anything escalates it's better to have proof and screenshots from the get-go, so I screenshot everything. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ This came up in my #timehop from a year ago. And I know what a lot of you were thinking, "why did you even bother responding? Why didn't you just block the person?" That's completely missing the point. It also puts the responsibility on me and flirts dangerously close with "What did you expect? Why didn't you stop it? You were practically asking for it."⁣ Whether you act like a disrespectful jerk or not isn't up to me to control. Control yourself.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Secondly, it doesn't matter if I block, respond, ignore, or put a potted plant on my head and do a dance. The outcome is always the same-- the person keeps inserting themselves on me anyway they can. And this doesn't just happen written form. This has happened on the street when I'm cat called. This has happened with friends that falsely believe the friend zone exists and that they shouldn't be in it. This has happened with boyfriends that didn't care if I wasn't in the mood. This has happened in too many situations to list. This conversation here represents so many unwanted sexual interactions that I've been bombarded with despite making my disinterest clear my entire life.
