its sooooo refreshing to see a film this conceptually original and layered get a big box office release like this......... theres been a huge overgeneralisation problem building in the film industry as studios err on the side of mass appeal so for a movie to really go all-in on specifics not just as set dressing but a crucial aspect of the story and themes all the way from the era to the location is sooo so cool to see

and then instead of pure historical fidelity being the end goal, to use that research and care to make a beautiful and engaging piece of genre fiction??? its honestly everything i could ask for out of a film narrative. really really excited to see poc and especially black filmmakers taking the strides that white hollywood is blanching away from and finding success in that, gives me hope for the future of the industry and the art of storytelling as a whole
