Hello, I'm Berserker. Here's some fact about me:

★I am formerly an Otherlink, A lesser known part of the Alterhuman community. (or feels lesser known. I've barely ever heard anything about otherlinks on tiktok/YT). I am a fictionkin now, also I guess you can call me a therian? Idk, correct me if I'm wrong.

★I use He/Xe pronouns, please respect that :3

★My theriotypes are black wolf and marble fox, of what I know!! My fictokin is biblically accurate wolf angel.

★I don't have any non-paper masks. I really want one tho

What is an Otherlink?

An otherlink is part of the alterhuman community. Otherlinkers are people who voluntarily identify as an animal. Our animal identities are called linktypes. There's different reasons for different links. All are valid.

#ffxiv #concept #sketch #thancred waters #g'raha tia #zenos yae galvus #adventurer zenos #my favorite trio: gunblades - arcane weapons - and bare fists #I cant imagine zenos having a good time being able to feel to any capacity again #hes here to be some terrifying combination of a dark knight and warrior #a berserker but 90% of the time he's the eerily calm type of angry and the remaining 10% is him but a feral fuckin beast #meanwhile thancred isnt even scared- just stunned he'd go out and say it so readily #(maybe a little jelly tbh)#I also just think of the times of thancred going “nah you dont need me for this”#but its zenos kidnapping him everytime he heards thancred say something akin to it #its so goofy but I write that zenos can charge the cartridges with the demon arm #adventurer zenos but he's also an allrounder (begrudgingly- favors primarily tanking)#how does he heal?#:> dont worry about it

I guess I should explain my alterhumanity a bit lol

It stems from two past lives (the angel and the black wolf). The angel lived for thousands of years before deciding they were sick of their duties, and then put themselves into the body of the first animal they saw, a wolf pup. They lived longer than a regular wolf, but only by like, a few years, nothing more than five. Their souls became one and they had no memories other than the ones they made. When they died, they combined with a young human, creating me.

I don't have memories of my past lives but I know they happened. The marble fox is more of an 'oh it's there, you just won't notice. ' type of thing.

If y'all want, I'll explain little details I can remember :3

#ffxiv #sketch #concept #zenos yae galvus #varis zos galvus #oc #oriens serpentes - pit viper #zenos- who struggles to feel but still went along with what his fellow men were brave enough to ask of him #having a place to exist outside his titles and duty and spend time with members with (more daring lol) members of the 12th #younger zenos and the mess of him navigating varis being both his father AND the high legatus (and varis just being highly controlling)#tbh its a concept that he was raised and treated like a weapon and that his methods of crushing revolutions is based #wholly on how he himself was treated a majority of his life by some of his family (for here its primarily his father and his grandmother)#also just the twisted concept that the way he “helps” fordola and yotsuyu (and maybe others) is how he wished someone couldve helped him #and I also wanted to explore a bit- especially in his younger years #zenos having to deal with not being strong enough to fight back and having the way he looks down on Varis shattered for a bit #and the concept of the possibility that it influenced him declining the WoL's inital offer #so much of his character just makes me read resignation in everything- which to me goes hand in hand with his apathy #especially when that resignation also leaned into cruelty and him just not caring (or being able to care tbh)#how much his passion was drained away not only by his own afflictions and issues but by what was going on around him #and especially for me writing adventurer zenos and the berserker stuff #the anger that he couldn't let surface for every moment someone else was punished for his own doings #anger that to himself he knew that a hero could be out there- but losing faith to believe he could be anything #other than the target rather than the one who needed that figure #(and how I personally believe that zenos helped summon anima- and that there might be more to it)#(than just varis' agony- intentionally or no I lean on that anima may represent how zenos viewed himself and his place in the empire too)

love it when a character that's hard to read intuitively for you has like a dedicated fandom interpreter who can just glance at their blank face in a panel and then give you a 3k word essay on their innermost thoughts & desires & fears and neatly tie it back into the themes & whatnot as if it's the most obvious thing in the world

#im talking about griffith btw #guts i feel i get intuitively - maybe because i have some personality traits in common with him #and we get more about his life concretely told to us in canon. so he is a bit easier to pin down as a character and feel attached to for me #but whenever i was reading the manga i just kept wanting more insight about griffith's actions and feelings #like ok yeah its fun to have mysterious antagonists and suspense /tension etc but its also fun to feel like you deeply understand them too #and i felt like that was a bit missing from him for me in canon #so reading about him in analysis and fics is the most fun for me rn #he always felt kinda half unreal to me- which maybe was the point of him - but i wanted a bit more about his childhood or something?#and wished we had more stuff explicitly from his pov in the story to read or explanation about his transformation or wtv #and now he's so much more closed off to me even than he was in the golden age. i keep waiting for him to explain stuff and he does not #ANYWAYS all this rambling to say some people out there are very good at interpreting him and making his like. insecurities #more obvious to me bc i didnt really get that side of him from canon intuitively well #also im really enjoying reading the first few berserk fics ive read #there may not be a ton of them out there but there is def writing talent in the fandom #i'll share some recs once i'm done sifting through most of what's out there to read #also (not to tie everything back to death note but it IS my home fandom after all)#i feel griffith is obvs the more light-like character here and L maybe a bit guts-like? but unlike berserk in death note #light is the one you get to know best and L is the mysterious / unreal one you don't get a lot of concrete insight into #and in the DN fandom I can read the more mysterious character intuitively but had to warm up to the less mysterious one instead #and the mystery of L makes sense to me and doesnt bug me as much due to like - he HAS to hide a lot about himself or else he will die lol #so some similarities there but also some opposite feels as well #berserk spoilers #p

i can't think about the moment in the son of crawmerax dlc where brick laughs at mordecai when he says he's sober and clearly doesn't believe him or i will blow up. btw.

just. from brick! thats gotta feel like hell. nevermind the fact that it took him telling brick and lilith directly that he was sober for them to put it together, and even then there was that moment of disbelief when he told them.
