My personal belief is that Taylor and Karlie were at some point, more than friends. Or at least, that Taylor perceived her as more than a friend (call it a soulmate, a crush, a twin).

I always believed Taylor broke things off with Karlie at the end of 2018 - the “I Tried” daisy pain spoke volumes to me and I mentioned that as my main reason for believing they had parted ways (I also relied on a few songs from Lover, and later from folklore). The new lyrics from it’s time to go confirm this for me - Taylor was heartbroken after Karlie went behind her back with Scooter, but tried to believe they could still be friends. Therefore, the Nashville picture.

And after a while, maybe after Karlie gave no signs of being a different kind of friend, she let go of it. A sad tale.
