Hii, I’m trying to learn Russian by incorporating it into my general vocabulary/replacing English words with Russian ones. Do you have any common words or phrases and would be a good starting place for a beginner? Also sorry if this is a very broad question, I’m very lost. Thanks, x

You should start with the most common words in Russian, you can find lists and probably even videos of that online(videos are better for learning pronunciation). You can learn names of your household objects and say them out loud as you see them in your daily life. You can then try to not just name them, but say what they do, if you want to practice verbs. Also search for videos with phares for beginners, try to connect words with phares

While your method can be okay for memorizing vocabulary, please remember that Russian isn't just English grammar with different words. For now it may be too early to start actually learning the grammar, but when you feel ready - find yourself a textbook and, again, videos. Find channels you like, watch as much as you can, write down notes. Writing things down by hand is also a good tool for memorizing things, you should write everything down if you are able. Re-read your notes often, repetion is also important

So Loex is pretty good at learning languages because he’s good at parroting/mimicking.

I just can’t get this idea out of my head that not too long after Loex joins the Liberators, Itzal gets pissed at someone and curses them out in Chihaki (something along the lines of “May Fenaia imprison your soul, you fucking shit”). Later on, Loex (not being the best with social skills) basically just parrots what Itzal said back to him before asking what it means. Itzal stares at him trying really hard not to be offended because, obviously this human had no idea what he’s saying but, on the other hand, he’s also just had his soul cursed to rot in eternity.

While they were laughing, they didn't see that Itzal was starting to cry. The young Lil' faunus ran off and that's when Flare stepped in. Rhys and Ethan got a good smack to the back of the head while Flare scolded them. Flare went off to find the cat crying to himself and cheered him up, also drying him off. During initiation, Flare and Itzal became partners while the troublemakers found eachother. When they were working to the relic, the pairs met. The pranksters apologized to the cat, who accepted it meekly. After that, Itzal proceeded to save Flare's, Ethan's, and Rhys' ass multiple times. They became a team with Flare as the obvious leader, each one never wanting to see Itzal sad again. Flare and Ethan have interesting histories with their families, but Rhys and Itzal don't really. The smaller two males have awful histories that orphaned them before joining the school. 3.) If you ever see their room at night, there's always a certain little faunus studying or reading. It's also the only time you can see him wearing clothes that are way too big for him; Flare's clothes. When he arrived at the Academy he only had his combat outfit so Flare let's him borrow his clothes at night. 4.) Ethan convinced Itzal to cross dress. When Flare saw he got a nose bleed; but when Rhys showed up in a dress too, Ethan got one as well. Itzal died of embarrassment, Flare died of laughter, Ethan got some good pictures, and Rhys...well he just had fun. 5.) Because of his past, Itzal puts himself down a lot. He always has way too much time to himself so his thoughts go crazy. The others constantly reassure him that he's fine the way he is, but he still doesn't believe them. It's really simple: you just replace gendered endings with plural ones:

Саша очень талантливые | Sasha is very talanted

Ты бы хотели сходить в кино? | Would you like to go see a movie?

But you keep the singular form when it's neutral:

Саша играет с котом | Sasha is playing with the cat

Саша пойдёт гулять? | Will Sasha go on a walk?

And you use the plural form after the pronoun:

Они пойдут гулять | They will go on a walk

Они будут есть суп | They will be eating soup

That last one is not a hard rule, you could use singular (пойдёт, будет) here, but it doesn't flow as well, in my opinion

Overall it's very simillar to speaking to someone using Вы, only you replace it with ты

К незнакомым людям принято говорить "Вы", но это сильно зависит от ситуации и человека. Я предпочитаю когда незнакомые люди обращаются ко мне на Вы, с некоторыми исключениями. Кто-то хочет чтобы к ним обращались только на ты

I know present tense conjugations but am trying to understand how to use past/future tenses. Also, there are multiple verbs for every action. How do I know when to use which one? Can you help me? Hello! This is a big question and it's kind of hard to answer without examples. Which words exactly do you need help with? I think every language has multiple verbs for the same/similar actions, you just learn their connotations and intuit when to use them

Conjugation in the past and future tense is actually comparatively simple in Russian

In the past tense the verbs are conjugated by gender and number, but not by person, so only four endings are ever possible: -_, -а, -о, -и

In the future tense there is a differentiation by aspect (Russian has two) Verbs in the perfective aspect are conjugated exactly like in the present tense, the only difference is the future tense prefix (there is a specific set for each verb)

иду - пойду, идёт - пойдёт, идём - пойдём

In the imperfective aspect the modal verb is added, only it is conjugated while the semantic verb stays in the infinitive. The most common modal verb is "быть (буду)", but many verbs can be modal

буду идти, будет идти, будем идти

начну идти, начнёт идти, начнём идти

Wiktionary usually has conjugation tables, so you can check there if you're having trouble with a specific verb

You can use they/them(они/их) similarly to English, that's what I use. Many people also use оно/этого(it/its, but without the inanimate object connotation). There are neopronouns, but they are not commonly used, most people stick to he, she, it or they

Если про местоимения - есть два основных варианта: они/их и оно/этого(как обычное "оно/его", но "его" и аналогичные части заменяются на "этого" и т.п.). Про "они" я уже отвечали здесь. Если речь идёт о незнакомом человеке - в моём круге общения принято использовать "они"

Есть ещё нео-местоимения, но они встречаются очень редко

Если про существительные, то всё сложнее. Широко принятых нейтральных слов практически нет, но есть малоизвестные, новые слова, их можно найти здесь. Я сами в основном использую маскулинные термины про себя, хоть я и полностью небинарные, просто потому что это более "нейтрально" из привычных слов

Есть так же "gender gap", которая используется на письме, обычно о теоретическом человеке. Вы её использовали в своём вопросе, "слышал.а", но обычно её пишут через _ или (), слышал_а, слышал(а). Можно использовать и на существительных: кассир_ша, водитель_ница. Мне лично это не очень нравится, в итоге читается женский вариант(на нём обычно фокус) и нейтральности не получается

Can I ask how you’re learning Portuguese? (like what study methods, resources you’re using and etc, just curious because really enjoy seeing how people do it)

I'm just getting started, but right now I watch YouTube videos for beginners, learn most common words, watch what cartoons I can find in European Portuguese dub(don't really understand anything but separate words yet), the Foreign Portuguese Comics YouTube channel is a great help. I need to find more places where I can watch things. And the other day I was listening to Portuguese radio on background, I need to do more of that. I also need to find more Portuguese music that I like and read the song lyrics and translations

My goal right now is to start understanding the language when reading/listening and get a better grasp on spelling/pronunciation. A couple different sources recommended to start with pronunciation. That's kind of hard without a person who can tell me what I do wrong, especially with the vowels After that I'll add learning basic phrases/sentences and maybe start on basic grammar. I will have to decipher how to use neopronouns as well. I wish there was a video on them to help with phonetics, but I couldn't find it, at least not in English

Overall my learning method is mostly input and very chill and low pressure, since it's all I have the energy for. But for the past few days I've been consistently doing something to learn, so I think it'll work out for me in the end!

Hi! Have you ever heard of the Russian film шут (1988)? I think it translates to Jester. My uncle played the lead and I was curious how popular it was in Russia, although I'm not sure if you live there currently.

Hello! I can't really recall if I heard of it before, but I've definitely never seen it. It's not one of those films that people still rewatch over and over, but maybe it was popular in its time. I'm too young to know that though
