Some Ivarr lore for today, cause he’s got rune carvings etched right into his skeleton.

These markings aren’t just for show - they’ve been there since birth and are tightly connected to what he is. The runes spell out part of his heritage, reflecting his family name and the location his clan calls home. They’re totally irreplaceable and central to his identity.

As said, the carvings aren’t just symbolic - they’re the source of many of Ivarr’s abilities, such as his supernatural strength, heightened awareness, a resilience beyond what average cyberware can offer, etc.

Speaking of Vylthir, the demonic side of Ivarr’s personality - he's bound up in these runes, almost as if he’s encoded right into Ivarr’s bones. Getting rid of him isn’t even an option - they’re extremely codependent. That’s why Ivarr can’t and won’t replace most of his bones, though he does have a few titanium replacements for those that aren’t carved.

He has a trusted crew of ripperdocs who know about his unique biology and work with him on his own terms. But if he ends up in someone else’s chair, whether by accident or in an emergency - the carvings are usually the first thing to catch the ripperdoc’s eye, especially during a scan.

The workaround to reinforce his skeleton was to hollow out the bones and strengthen them from the inside, keeping the runes intact. The cyberware that would get the job done is most likely some kind of Dense Marrow modification. Some refs how it might look like (not the exact runes though! just the general aesthetic, the palm on the pic is a replica by Elorhan), and Dense Marrow from the official cyberware list:

Ivarr gives no second chances and absolutely is a grudge holder. Does he place honesty above all else, adhere to high standards? Hell no, the reality is quite different, you can imagine dealings with Maelstrom - they are often far from fair.

For Ivarr, it's all about about a deep, visceral and very human anger tied to his wounded ego, which, despite its extreme robustness, can still be bruised.

He is usually very petty and creative in his acts of revenge. Whether he’s serving a dish cold or going for immediate, ugly, and bloody retribution, his response depends on his mood and the severity of the betrayal. Regardless of the method, he'll savor it with that infuriatingly smug, wolfish grin on his face 😈

@dreamskug asked me how Blue would deal with betrayal or if he's a forgiving person. Does he hold grudges?

Yes he holds grudges. Blue does not forgive and forget. He's a karma loving little hater. He'll hold onto a grudge and wait for a moment to enact revenge when he sees fit, either directly or indirectly. I think this might be one of the few areas Blue might be truly toxic in. Trust and honesty are huge themes for him in his life. He holds himself to a high standard and expects the same from those he trusts. No excuses. No second chances. Sure, things happen or a hickup gets to the best of us, whatever. But knowingly betraying Blue will cost you dearly in the end. He doesn't need revenge all the time but if he can get it, he will.

It's the reason he feels strongly towards one of his crew at the moment. He abandoned Blue and @nightcityvngel's Vngel in dire situations. He's keeping his feelings to himself now, but he will not forget it.

so was thinking about Ivarr's horns, whether he would keep them fully grown or rather shortened, and I don't think I've mentioned it in the blog, but they are indeed shortened, cause he simply trims them, which according to Google would probably stimulate pain response, though in general it depends - if we're talking about animals with horns, for example.

anyway, in my canon it does indeed hurt, in his case. his horns start actively grow when he's in his early twenties and pretty much clueless about his origins at that moment (his demon father) - imagine his shock though, or his ripper's, but hey it's Cyberpunk - "who tf knows what else has Biotechnica been messing with", right?

anyway, cutting hurts badly, which makes him wanna dampen the pain and this is how he starts abusing the hell out of drugs and painkillers until he can afford the permanent solution to get the horns properly numbed (huge thanks @arcandoria for the horns lore brainstorming tbh i smooch).

anyway, his horn trimming device looks somewhat like a mini version of those people use for hoof/horn trimming - probably just another item in the toothbrush holder in the bathroom 😅 he gets flakes of his horns everywhere when he's trimming them, so it gets pretty messy hfgdjs

13.) What do they do for fun? Do they have a favorite activity or do they like to switch things up?

Both still love going to nighclubs, and drinking/dancing until the sun starts to rise. As much as they both enjoy going out, and finding trouble (more often than not), they both enjoy lazy days at home too, watching movies, and gaming (usually with a cat or two curled up on them--both have more than one). They tend to lean towards dramas and thrillers--a lot of the psychological stuff, and casual takeout/drinks. Moments of down-time between gigs are something they both value.

14.) Anything they both dread?

Both struggle with the thought of harm coming to the other--there's a strong sense of protectiveness that goes both ways, and the idea that one of them could be injured and the other unable to get to them in time, or unable to help is something they try not to dwell on too often--both are mercs, and involved in some less-than-savory business, so it's always a hidden fear.

36.) What’s their greatest strength as a couple? Their weakness?

One of the greatest strengths is their loyalty, and dedication--it's a ride or die relationship, and both know that they've got the other's back. And they're good at knowing what the other needs without having to vocalize it, and making sure both are mutually benefiting. There's an immense amount of trust there, for two mercs whom it doesn't come easily to. One of their biggest weaknesses is their lack of verbal communication. Rather than discuss things openly, they're more likely to just not, and open conversations about genuine feelings are seldom. They're more likely to try to show affection than stating it, and while it usually works fine for them, there's occasionally some missed messages. and we're not gonna mention the hint of possessiveness, or co-dependency there.

39.) Who initiated the relationship? Who kissed who first?  When did they realize they were in love?

The two of them met while out clubbing at Totentantz--they had mutual friends and had seen the other around a couple times before saying anything to the other, but Hiro would be lying if he said the other hadn't caught his eye--approached him after the other was fresh out of a fight. Perhaps not the best idea, but he's also had worse ones, to be fair. As for a first kiss, it was Ívarr but not by much--they started as a casual fling, that turned into a reoccuring one, and eventually realized they were spending more time together than apart. The relationship began as something purely physical, but without either realizing slowly shifted into something more. There's love there, but good luck getting either of them to admit to it out loud. Neither are particularly inclined to say so, and are both stubborn as all hell.

He doesn't do merc work, but he does crimes Maelstrom is usually busy with, such as raids on the corpos and Claws, heists, illegal meds and drugs, whatever it has to do with the Totentanz, etc. So yeah, won't mention any fixer, but will talk about the gang leader! Aaand in my canon it's Brick, they are chooms with Ivarr (chooms and Gwent buddies as well, hehe).

43. Describe their ideal date.

Oh boy. His ideal date! Honestly, before I'd say it's him picking up his partner, driving them far away from NC (with his motorcycle ofc) stargazing and such? Which is really fun, but now, after months of exploring his personality, how he is/what he values in a relationship, I'd say his idea of a perfect date is surprisingly simple and wholesome - of course, as long as his partner is into it as well - them curled up in a cozy blanket, watching a movie - probably LOTR (his comfy one if he picks it, or he's up to watch whatever his partner is into) - his/their cats circling around them begging for snacks, and OH CMON U KNOW HOW IT IS the big scary dude can be a softie 😅

When he was much younger and he didn't actually know if all these funny cool stories about the pepper burns are true - you know, touching yourself after handling peppers - they absolutely did try it with his former partner many years ago, just for shits and giggles. At first it felt quite okay, but then it just kept getting hotter and hotter to the point that they had to run for the shower. He's still saying it hurt like hell, he isn't really sure what kind of a modified pepper it was, but and it was still there for quite a while due to all the oils and stuff it contained, you know. He'd had a lot of experience since then, but this one was a night to remember, cause he did it to himself 😂
