"Are your goals really your goals?" - @andyfrisella CEO of @1stphorm supplements. I heard this at the beginning of 2017. While I do not take any of the 1st Phorm supplements, I could not have more admiration for the athletes and the company’s positive impact on the fitness industry. . . This quote really stuck with me and has more than any other inspirational or motivational slogan because of how real it is. In the beginning of any journey we all set goals. But then things happen and life gets in the way and some how we all loose sight of our goals and then don’t achieve what we had intended too. . . For me this is reality. Every new years I would set the goal of “finally get my body where I want it to be” or “loose weight for summer” or something to that effect. And guess what? I never got there. I would make it maybe 10 weeks and then I would fall off the wagon and end up back where I started. . . This year when I heard this quote it was at the perfect time. I was setting goals for the year but this year was different because my goals were more about performance than aesthetics. So every day since then I have asked myself “are your goals really your goals?” because if they are, then what are the small actions you are doing every day that are going to get you where you want to be? Those small actions are what define your real goals. If you are making excuses for what is happening that is “preventing you” from reaching your goals, then you need to reevaluate those goals. . . Consistency is the name of the game friends. Think about whether or not you are being honest with yourself day in and day out about what your goals are and if your everyday actions are in fact a reflection of that. Because in the end, if you aren’t thinking about your goals every single day and paying attention to them, they will only be dreams

#transformationtuesday & #gainingweightiscool - story time! . Top photo is 7 months ago, August 2016. I was lifting but I didn't focus on my back hardly ever and my diet was inconsistent, as you can see I have very little muscle definition in my back. Then I started grad school and definitely put on an uncomfortable amount of weight. . . Fast forward to today: March 2017. I train back 1-2 times per week and have been consistent with my diet for about 3 months. Here's the fun part: I weigh the same in both pics (since my "cut" I've lost the initial grad school weight) The difference? Proper training and nutrition. . . I hear a lot of people say 80% training and 20% nutrition. No no no. You have to commit 100% to each. That is how I achieved where I am at now. I am also not where I want to be. But I put these pictures together and realized how far I have come and I am damn proud.

Non-scale victory for me 🙋🏼did some pull-ups the other night with only at 25% assistance which means I am getting stronger! (Previously the most I could do was a 38% resistance) . . Anyway! This was a couple of nights ago and I was EXHAUSTED to say the least. Had the longest day ever and I just felt so drained but all I was looking forward to was this workout. This was at the end of the night so it's not my best form but I'm still pretty proud of it - and that you can see my baby back muscles trying to show themselves 😅 . Spending this Sunday take a rest (probably unless I convince myself into an at home workout) because I'm feeling a little under the weather. Good morning #fitfam and happy Tuesday! While I indulged in the most epic #cheatmeal last night, I also meal prepped for the week two nights ago to stay on track as I start back to school today! This week is off because I didn't have a typical Monday but I made sure to practice my meal prep as if I had Monday so I could figure out how to make it as quick as possible! This took me about 1 hour and 45 mins including cleaning up my kitchen and now my week looks easy! (One of the things I learned so that I could cut time down is to actually have all the containers washed ahead of time so I'm not half in the sink and half in the oven the whole time 😂) anyway! Can't wait to workout later - thinking I am going to train some combination of upper body and abs tonight before taking tomorrow as a rest day!

My palate is returning to what I call normal🙏🏼 For a little while I veered off and was enjoying a lot of treat meals and not really feeling that great as a result. For me, "normal" is primarily eating whole and organic foods, grass fed meat, very little if any dairy, no gluten, nothing fried or processed and focusing on feeding my body what makes me FEEL good. I don't just mean in regards to fitness and how I look, I mean in everything. When I'm eating like this my brain functions better during the semester, my hair, skin and nails feel so much stronger, my digestive system is at peace, I sleep better - the list goes on lol but you get the point. . . Bought this hat to wear for days when my hair is looking some kind of crazy lol I kinda like wearing hats to the gym! • • Anywho, ended up spending 2 hours at the gym (honestly by accident) did a bicep/tricep circuit and I already can't lift my arms up lol also did 30 mins of LISS on the stair master while watching some YouTube. • I get lost in the gym, it's like my second home and it was nice to not have any responsibilities and just lose track of time there today. Making a healthy dinner and relaxing the rest of this snowy Saturday night❄️

Happy Friday #fitfam! Got in a nice little shoulder pump before heading to work for the night! (Don't mind my face 😂) Right now I am training everyday that I have the opportunity to because I know that a couple times during the semester I am going to need to take days off where I focus on schoolwork. So essentially I'm trying to do the work now to give myself a little bit of a time cushion so to speak? My goal this semester is to still get in at least 4 training sessions a week either at home or at the gym and I think that is definitely doable. These are 38% assisted and I always think there is room for improvement with form but again I'm working on lowering the weight so I can get them on my own soon! . Tried so many variations of pull-ups tonight and took a notebook to the gym so I noticed for the first time how many exercises I actually do 😂 .
