2: What scene did you first put down?

You are indeed cheating! :D It is sneaky and I love it and @iwritetrash already won, so I’ll answer. The mind-lock scene where Poe talks to Luke! (#9 in the game.) Ok, and I also wrote the line “We are going to have so much fun, you and I,” first of all, but that was originally attached to a different scene...the original incarnation of the fic was much darker. I’m glad I didn’t actually go that route in the end. 

In case you missed it, the hints for the game were: 

1. This scene is essentially a gratuitous whump and could technically be cut down to a line or two.2. However, a vast chunk of the rest of the fic was necessary in order for this whump to happen and be resolved.

5: What part was hardest to write?

Figuring out the ending, including the scene with Rey and Kylo and Snoke, the Moonreach sequence, and the final battles. I walked around the city for hours trying to figure all of that out. I wrote at least seven outlines for those parts alone, every one of which is a mess of and then what happens here??????

11: What do you like best about this fic?

I love Rey and Poe standing their ground in the face of Kylo’s shit. I find that inspiring. I may possibly have channeled Poe in a meeting with my boss once. But my favorite part of all was the way Finn (and Cor) came alive to me in the last few chapters. I did not expect the Moonreach sequence at all. I don’t know where it came from. But I love it, and I love how Finn reacted to it. 

12: What do you like least about this fic?

I regret using the threat of sexual assault for whump purposes. If I were to go back and rework it, I’d take that out. I’m also on the fence about bothering to redeem Kylo. I had to in order to resolve the fic--remember, I started with the random mind-lock whump and went from there. Having set it up that the only way to free Poe was to have Kylo cooperate, I needed him to have a reason to cooperate...and the rest of the fic followed from there. I do believe Leia and Luke’s discussion/decision in the prologue would have actually happened in canon. But throwing them under the bus in order to redeem a wannabe Sith asshole? I do regret that. 

(And while we’re regretting, I wish so badly that I had made Finn Force-sensitive, because I didn’t see it at first, but he so clearly is. But to change that at this point would require a complete overhaul of the entire series, so I’m sort of stuck with it now.)
