ok first, I think im getting back into the lunar chronicles again & might have to reread the series again

I literally saw that earlier today and IMMEDIATELY flashed back to the time I thought about a jacolf au (I think that's the name) where jacin was a barista & I think wolf was either a bodybuilder, a tattoo artist, or a florist but it was probably the first one

genuine thoughts on jacolf

~for my fellow jacolf stans~

in-series, jacin and wolf really did not interact much. jacin did help cinder tend to wolf’s injuries in the beginning of cress, so he kinda saved wolf’s life but wolf obv was comatose and not aware. they were both on the rampion at the same time when they were planning Kai’s kidnapping, though wolf was really #depressed. we did not get any direct interactions or dialogue between them that i can think of, but i think there is a potential unspoken dynamic between them that actually could be explored.

i think wolf’s first impression of jacin had to have been resentment. it was jacin who was glamoured by sybil to look like scarlet, which caused the two to get swapped in the first place, and jacin’s presence from that point on probably acted as a reminder to wolf of his failure to protect scarlet. there is also a deeper resentment toward jacin in that he got lucky. he was born with a weak gift and had family in the right places. he was chosen to be a lunar guard. he got to keep his humanity. jacin is around ran’s age. imagine if ran had been drafted as a lunar guard instead?

jacin knows how horrifying the reality of being a lunar soldier is, so I think a secret part of him feels pity towards wolf, or at least the feeling of ‘glad that’s not me,’ along with a reasonable bit of fear, maybe even disgust? in knowing what wolf and all the lunar soldiers are capable of. that changes, of course, when wolf is in his #depression era and as jacin tells winter, “would not stop whining about scarlet,” which must have made jacin realize that wolf is an exception.

after jacin betrays the crew and leaves, we do not see them inhabit the same space for a whileeee. we do know that jacin helped scarlet escape along with winter, but this is not really emphasized to wolf, and he’s honestly just glad that scarlet’s back.

so what then? the revolution ends, the squad is officially the squad™, and jacin and wolf’s girlfriends are lowkey in a homoerotic relationship. because of this, these two dudes probably have to spend a lot of time with each other, and i’d personally like to know what that would be like.

as cold and quiet as these two are, and considering their first impressions of each other, it’s kind of hard NOT to imagine them being awkward, which it probably was at first. but there are so many similarities between them, and like i said, a sense of sympathy from jacin to wolf, (maybe even respect for wolf for overcoming the manipulations), that it would be hard to believe that they don’t at least understand each other in some capacity and have some level of friendship. i mean jacin DID put his entire jacussy into that flower bouquet for wolf and scarlet’s wedding, like he obv cares. i would also like to believe that as an aspiring doctor who already has some prior knowledge, he would take an interest in wolf’s genetic modifications and try to help wolf cope with them (like managing the hunger and stuff) which wolf would obv appreciate.

and idk, maybe one night they just sit down and really talk about everything they’ve been through and afterwards there’s just this unspoken but very deep understanding of one another that’s always there, even though they don’t talk much. idk just bro things. but yeah❤️

My suggestion for the 2k24 tlc renaissance (as someone who wasn’t here for the initial hype) is to introduce newer and wackier ships that no one could possibly have conceptualised. That seems to work just well for other fandoms. Additionally, we should form a cult like following behind the parents of the main characters and all their associates, devising our own canon around their intricate web of relationships, in spite of the feasibility of any of those interactions actually having happened in canon
