Heeeey thank you!! Sorry this took forever to answer! (I'm always happy to talk about Jade lmao)

What I love about them: He's so fucking weird. I already went off about the eel and monster mermaid thing in my last ask about Floyd, but that's definitely a thing for Jade too. I love how fascinated he is with the surface world and all the things he never saw before. And just the way he's so false and malicious and reserved, but seems to have a very genuine love of wonder, I like that he displays a more realistically multifaceted personality, instead of just being evil for the sake of evil or whatever. Like, his psychology is fun to observe, I guess? Again, I have a lot of thoughts about this, but they're hard to explain right now. I just appreciate that he's complex and interesting and obviously came from a traumatic background, but like his brother, he seems to have warped his feelings towards it in a way that leaves him uninterested in lamenting any of it, but not really able to connect with most of society. I also like that the result of it all is him being a quiet little chaos gremlin who makes problems on purpose. He's just, fun.

What I hate about them: I'm... not a huge fan of sadism. I generally dislike sadistic characters automatically, but Jade's fun and interesting enough to bypass that feeling somehow. It makes him a challenge to write, for sure, cause half of it is me projecting autism and seriously low empathy, but then I have to just fumble and guess for sadism and horniness.

Favorite Moment/Quote: This bitch really went and risked everyone's life including his own for the chance to poison a ghost. Out of curiosity. And then bragged about it in front of her and had the audacity to act shocked and betrayed when he got slapped. I don't even know if that's my favorite moment. He's always pulling something. I also love his sledathon moments of eagerly recommending sabotage with Idia. And just found his halloween vignette really interesting for lore.

What I would like to see more focus on: I actually enjoy the level of mystery they've left with Jade. I'm always curious to know everything about the tweels' background, but the way he teases alarming information really adds to his charm overall. I'd love to see him experience genuine emotions to an extent he couldn't hide though, just because I wanna turn him inside out and see what's going on in there. (I'd also love to see him interact with Jamil more, but that's for shipping reasons, not overall story experience)

What I would like to see less focus on: I'm sure something will pop into my head in the middle of the night while I'm about to fall asleep, but right now I can't think of anything that's bothered me yet.

Favorite pairing with: Azul, and Jamil. And Trey is growing on me a bit.

Favorite friendship: I want him to be friends with Lilia so badlyyyyy. Also after sledathon I'm really enjoying whatever the fuck is going on with him and Idia.

NOTP: I can't think of any I've seen around and hated? I'm sure there could be, but nothing immediately comes to mind. RIP to anyone who gets shipped with the guy tbh.

Favorite headcanon: I have a whole theory planned out for the fic about his backstory and the development of his UM, but I'm not gonna spoil that here. Barely off canon but I think he can cook, technically, but wants to experiment too much and it comes out nightmarish. Partially because of the experimental factors, partially because he's only had access to a stove for two years of his life and doesn't have the experience to go off script without disaster. Same goes for drinks.

Did I forget I was doing this photo series? Maybe. But In my defense I didn't read a lot of my own books last month. So here we are again! An Illumicrate edition this time! I've started it already and it's fun so far! So I have good hopes it'll be better than my last read :)

"castes" are a bug equivilant of gender; but on alternia they are oft filtered through a lens of classism+racism. it's interesting to think about how for trolls, racism and misogyny are heavily overlapping (if not the same thing*)... which could be a statement about how human misogyny and racism are also heavily overlapping (since bioessentialism is so heavily rooted in colonialist white eurocentric standards). or it could just be a weird coincidence.

Practicing with Jade...that stuff had me thinking of other ways it can go. Like not even with the Reader liking someone else. Maybe they're just inexperienced and want to know what it's like to kiss and touch someone...and who better to ask than your friend who you trust and who totally doesn't have secret feelings for you.🤣

I have a ton of crazy twst aus that I'm never ever gonna capitalize on, so I'm just gonna throw out the one that's invaded my daydreams the most recently.

So it's like zombie apocalypse au, but instead of zombies, it's blot. So they don't really have "phantoms" but the blot acts like a brain-eating parasite. Like the one you see in slugs that slowly eat away at them until they take over their bodies. So blot turns them into lifeless creatures, but they have magical abilities that make them more of a threat. The way it spreads is by eating at magic, so using magic against it is pretty much useless and can get the user infected too.

Think... like the flowers in the recent masquerade event, except instead of destroying magic and rendering the sorcerer useless it uses them to get stronger and spread faster.

So it starts with Riddle and inevitably spreads around until there's only a handful of people left who are desperately looking for a cure.

I personally think the survivors would be those who are super resourceful rather than extremely magically talented. Like Ruggie, Epel, Rook, Azul, and Jade (maybe). There would be a few exceptions like Kalim and Idia, and I think that Lilia and Silver have a decent chance of surviving. I wouldn't really say Malleus could since he's pretty reliant on the fact that he's magically strong. Ofc MC survives because they don't have magical capabilities, but they'd probably lose grim which is pretty devastating tbh.

Ruggie and Epel are both able to use their environment to their advantage really well, they know how to make meals out of very little and can survive in harsher environments easily. They're obvious contenders I feel, so they'd both be likely to survive in a more apocalyptic setting.

Rook I also feel is obvious. He's a hunter, and while he does use a lot of magic, he likely can survive without using it. He's good with a bow and arrow, incredibly strong, and way smarter than he lets on. The only way he might die is by sacrificing himself for Vil or someone else, but I don't think Vil would let him do that anyway lol.

Azul and Jade I'm on the fence about. Azul is really resourceful, but he's not exactly athletic or anything. He'd be a vital member of the group for understanding how to bargain and he has loads of knowledge, but other than that he's not too useful in any way. He's just good at conning people into keeping him alive. Jade I feel has a higher chance of surviving than Floyd, but he'd likely only survive if he was able to get away from Azul and Floyd at the start of the spread. He's great to have because he is athletic and can also survive in harsh environments, but he's also Jade so he doesn't deserve to live.

Kalim and Idia are a case of surviving out of sacrifice. I'm sure you could figure that out, but Jamil absolutely would sacrifice himself for Kalim. I'm sorry if you disagree, but it is ingrained in Jamil to protect Kalim and he is fully ready to die for him if he has to. Ortho would sacrifice for Idia, and Idia would only live on because Ortho told him to. Kalim wouldn't be all that resourceful, but he'd be good for group morale and keeping everything happy and healthy. Idia would be amazing if you could get him to any building with any electronics. He can find a way to get the power up and running, and once he has power he has the ability to have eyes everywhere if he so pleases. Really good for looking out for danger too.

Lilia and Silver are probably on a case-by-case basis and depend on how I would write everything. Lilia is a war general so he's been in some pretty tough places. He absolutely could survive an apocalypse, but the death of Sebek and Malleus might just be too much for him to stand. He only recently learned to love because of them, how could he go on without them. Silver would keep living out of sheer willpower. He could lose everything around him, be absolutely devastated, and keep a strong face for his lost family and friends.

There are a couple others that could be swapped in or out, and I'm sure everyone else has their own opinions, but that's kinda my take on the whole au lol.

Also, fml, I need to find a way to connect Dorothea to the Cainhurst.

I mean, her background is Noble Scion, so it's not farfetch that she belongs to nobility, but I cannot resist the idea of a side of her family being part of the Covenant.

It would explain the immense repulsion she felt for Alfred the moment she saw him and knew he was an executioner.

And the main reason for all this is just that Cainhurst Castle is probably my most favourite part of the entire game. It just appeals to all those things that I adore (forgotten Neuschwanstein-like castle, forever covered in snow, inhabited by ghosts? Decadent and opulent and with a library that just makes me want to move there? Yes. Yes.).

Also, I can imagine Dottie entering the library with Jacob, and after they got rid of all those screeching ghosts, she is all like:

"that's it. If we survive this madness, we take back my family's castle, because what do you mean I have this whole collection of books and I cannot read them because we got Martinus the Popsicle Martyr sitting on the roof?? Fetch me Ludwig's Holy Blade, I have to thaw that sonofaholyghost."
