Things are bad and terrible and stupid but at least there's bugs and sweet fruit and queer little podcasts and the sky changes colour at dusk and dawn. I can go to a park and meet a dog. My conditioner smells like fake strawberries. My houseplants and herbs still grow, despite the weather outside. There's time for nature documentaries and solo TTRPGs and library books before bed and the birds still sing in the morning. And I still have the ability to make the rest of it just a tiny bit less bad and terrible and stupid.

#stressed out of my gourd but last week someone gave me a tin of watercolour pencils and there's grapes in the freezer #And I have a new creative project on the go with characters I already adore and I found some raspberry jam in the cupboard that's still good #And as always I have the power to bite a finger clean off a human hand and the grace not to. Which is some kind of solace.

I’m still wondering about why The Emperor renamed Curze, or more exactly called him Konrad Curze right out the gate. It’s an oddly specific name to go for especially if we take Corvus initially saying his name was nineteen as the norm and assume that the Primarchs didn’t have names ready for them whilst they were being made, because of this I’ve come up with a little headcanon.

For this I’m assuming that despite being immensely more powerful The Emperors foresight works in the same way as Konrad and Sanguinius’, in the sense that rather than one specific future he sees the possibilities and looks to the most likely/desired outcome. I posit that when he was searching for the Primarchs he used his abilities in order to get a general vibe on how he’d be best approaching them and what they’d been up to, this is why he knows their names and such even before meeting them, when he was getting ready to collect Curze he had a similar vision to the one Konrad got when he attacked that boy and saw he’d either be a great leader or be his downfall.

I think that The Emperor assumed that Konrad chose the path that would have lead to him mentoring the boy and creating a better Nostramo (Which I’d argue would be in fitting with his vision of what the Primarchs would be). Assuming The Emperor took that path as the one that was chosen it’s possible that he looked further down it and saw Konrad take on a more traditional name to reflect that the Night Haunter was no longer needed, with that more traditional name being Konrad Curze. Of course Konrad didn’t take any of the paths shown and instead killed and ate the kid in order to mitigate the risk but I can imagine that doing this was such an unlikely path that The Emperor disregarded it as a possibility.

#Maybe he kept calling him Konrad in the hopes it’d influence him into moving towards that ‘better’ future #I do think Big E cared in his own way but not enough or in the right way #like a parent who expects their kids to follow a certain path and doesn’t know what to do when they don’t #There’s plenty of issues with the whole renaming thing in general but I always wonder why Konrad Curze specifically #so this is my headcanon of an answer #that’s basically the equivalent of jamming two pieces of a puzzle together and pretending it fits #I’ve rushed this a bit since I’m on break so I might clean it up later #wh40k #warhammer 40k #warhammer 30k #wh30k #konrad curze #the emperor of mankind
