James Arthur Haslam III (born March 9, 1954-) is an American businessman and sports executive. He is the chairman of the board of the Pilot Flying J truck stop chain. He and his wife Dee own the Cleveland Browns of the NFL, the Columbus Crew of MLS, and a stake in the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA. Haslam has won two MLS Cup Championships (2020 and 2023) as owner of the Crew.

LAC-HOU (n): Well, that was a frustrating way for the Chargers to return to Chargering, especially with Herbert abruptly going from being let down by his team every time to be the one letting the team down. The standard is indeed the standard of last-month flameouts in Pittsburgh under a coach who's been washed ever since Days of Our Steelers was in its prime and is still carried by T.J. Watt. (Seriously, I hate the Steelers with all my heart and even I think it's foul that guy's never won a playoff game.)

DEN-BUF (Y): Well, they hung in there for one half, and even that wet fart of a loss shouldn't erase what a magical season this was, hopefully with so much more to come. And meanwhile Buffalo's hoping to at least get past that damn Divisional round in a game that, had MVP been decided on during the playoffs, would basically be the MVP title match. (I still think Allen should absolutely win it since this is Most Valuable Player we're talking about, but I digress.)

GB-PHI (Y): Somehow both one of the better and the least interesting game. Philly imposed their might while Green Bay somewhat literally laid down to die. The medical cart driver probably had more highlights than some of their players. Meanwhile, the Eagles are ready to impose their Inner Excellence on their future opponents and hope Sirianni isn't enough of a doofus to ruin the revenge tour.

WAS-TB (Y): Yes, I knew one of my random upset picks would work out eventually! Jayden Daniels indeed came in clutch as a 19-year playoff win drought that was preceded by a drop in Tampa has ended with a doink in Tampa! I feel for Baker and the Buccs (I need a deep Buccs playoff run soon just to watch Jimmy Haslam squirm), but it's exciting seeing Washington finally have hope again, all while Dan Snyder can only watch in jealousy. And the best part? They're the lowest seed left, so even if they pull a Cinderella run out of their ass, they won't have to worry about Daniels getting RGIII-ed at their home dump! MIN-LAR (n): Turns out I committed the cardinal sin of football fandom: expecting the Vikings to do anything. That said, I don't know if anyone but the most pessimistic expected them to flame out like this. The whole franchise has seen ghosts and now have to make a big QB decision after Darnold's inspiring, yet bizarre zero-to-hero-to-zero season and perhaps the biggest flameout a 14-win team has ever had. Vikings gonna Viking. And then you have the Rams playing a home game in their 6th different city ever (that is not a joke btw) and emerging to look like perhaps the biggest dark horse for an upset deep run. Really is hard to kill a zombie!

And as weird as this sounds, I'll give my picks for each round as they happen, just so I can keep my pick series going without one early upset nullifying all the other picks instantly. So...

LAC-HOU (#5 @ #4): Houston has been rife with enough problems to make the Apollo 13 crew feel safe, and not only have they been especially ugly as soon as they sealed the division, but Other L.A. has been so well-rounded this year. So I'd pick the Chargers to get their first playoff win with Justin Herbert, as well as Jim Harbough's fourth season out of five where he's won a playoff game (albeit 11 years after his last playoff win - it's weird, I know)

PIT-BAL (#6 @ #3): Pittsburgh's been imploding 2020-style lately and got spanked on the same field by Baltimore last time, so it feels like an easy win for the Ravens.

DEN-BUF (#7 @ #2): Denver's season has been magical, and even with them having done much of their damage against a mediocre schedule, I could see them giving Buffalo a good fight, especially with Bo Nix facing a less-than-stellar Buffalo defense. But ultimately, I think Josh Allen will again go off and the team will buckle down enough to give the Bills yet another chance to break everyone's hearts in the Divisional round.

GB-PHI (#7 @ #2): This was kind of tricky since not only has Jordan Love showed so much brilliance, but this Packers team has showed they can upset the NFC East winner as the lowest seed last year. But not only has the team been short on momentum lately, but Philly's might in all areas feels like exactly what the Eagles need to wash themselves of last year and start another good run, although I think they'll have to earn it.

WAS-TB (#6 @ #3): This was easily the hardest for me to predict. After a rollercoaster season, Tampa will have home-field and a strong offense led by Baker Mayfield. But I just have a feeling that red-hot rookie Jayden Daniels will follow up on what Stroud did last year by heroically leading the Commanders to their first playoff win in 19 years, although again, it's a tossup.

MIN-LAR (#5 @ v. #4): (First off, I really hope all of you in SoCal are staying safe. My heart goes out to all of you.) As exciting as the Rams' rollercoaster season has been, I still feel like the Vikings will brush off last week's humbling rout and take care of business to punch their ticket to the Divisional Round.
