The only good thing I can see here is the glorious Oil being mentioned in the blue-black Gearhulk, thus confirming that Jin-Gitaxias and Sheoldred would have been the best duo of bitches if the storyline hadn't gone awry.

So once again I am hankering for a new magic deck, but this time I think I know what I want.

Since my days of Yawgmoth I’ve liked having card draw on my commander, I’m literally the only person in my play group who gives a shit about card economy, and since building urza lord protector, I’ve found nothing gives more of a rush than casting one of those ‘pay x, draw x’ cards for a discounted cost.

So why not just like,,, commit.

So I bring to you an early draft of my new jin-gitaxias deck:

Don’t know what deck name I’ll go with, think it’s a bit shy on ramp, and can’t afford some of the more pricy shit that should go in here, but here he is!

The black and white one is one of the coolest card art I’ve ever seen, wanted to build him since spoiler season on art alone but didn’t think I’d like monoblue. But I was testing with urza about a half hour before typing this at 2 in the morning, and I found not being able to draw cards reliably with like 12 pieces of card draw to be super stifling. And there’s one remedy for that.

So here’s to value, long live the progress engine.

Traenor in Kamigawa! A one-time Knight Samurai, now a Freelance Ronin on a quest for revenge. @lyxine's Endry, his friend, was brought to New Phyrexia by @littjara-compleated-sage's Xena Vadri, and was compleated before his eyes by Jin-Gitaxias (or so he thought.) He was put under a Geas and sent away by @myrsphere's Blue Gitaxias. But he swore vengeance. He promised blood. When he heard Jin was on Kamigawa, he wasted no time doing whatever he needed to squeeze every ounce of information he could from the plane, hunting down Futurists with the help of a Reckoner gang he allied himself with.

Dear Jin-Gitaxias... I didn't even know you were a father. Were your children created artificially or... "born", for lack of a better word? And who is the mother?

The Mother is Elesh Norn, of course.

(He grinds out a strange laugh.) See what I did there? A piece of wordplay. No, fleshling, there is no "mother" to my offspring. No Phyrexian requires a mate in the act of procreation--that is an inefficiency of the flesh that we have long since discarded. All that is required is a mature compleated individual's oil, and suitable flesh or metal substrate to serve as a starting point for the creation of germs.

I utilized my own oil and biologic components in the creation of my offspring. Like myself, most Phyrexians favor the usage of vats in dedicated facilities over internal gestation, the better to monitor germ growth and nutrition without compromising the mobility of the parent. Each of my own clutches was incubated this way before maturing sufficiently to be decanted as newts.

One cannot help but note the irony of Elesh Norn's title. She calls herself the Mother, and yet of all the praetors, I am the only one who has so much as sired offspring. It truly makes one think.
