To give more context to the wiki screeenshot in the tweet this was a han dynasty source which is not remotely contemporary (bout 2000 years ago) and the writer (Gan Ying) appears to have received all his info second hand from biased sources—he never saw rome himself due to Parthian intervention.

BUT it is true a bunch of early chinese sources pretty much regarded rome as some sort of exotic utopia to the west (see Taiqing jinye 24 as one particularly wild example) based on what was told by traders/roman delegations and passed down in stories, which does relates to the equal to china thing as:

One of Rome’s chinese names was DaQin(大秦), as in. Great Qin aka the same Qin as the name of the first dynasty in china.
