You know what’s kinda funny to me, how people say they hate or dislike country music because it’s only about a guy losing a girlfriend or wife and drinking his sorrows away.

But if you listen to some of the older songs it’s more than that. They tell stories about soldiers who didn’t make it, missing an opportunity, a baby being born and how they changed the parents’ lives, mental health, abuse, death, the way your view on love changes as you age, disabilities, battles, how the good book can help you find a higher power, ghosts.

The people who are saying that they don’t like country music are probably only listening to the newer artists, not taking the time to go back and see the older generation and hear the stories they have to tell.

OAK RIDGE BOY RETIRES MID-FAREWELL TOUR: Health issues have led Joe Bonsall to retire from the Oak Ridge Boys as the band continues its farewell tour. Ben James is taking Bonsall’s place in the vocal group.

“The Oak Ridge Boys will finish the Farewell Tour without me, but rest assured, I am good with all of it,” Bonsall said in a statement.

JOHN MICHAEL MONTGOMERY TO RETIRE AFTER ONE LAST TOUR: Country singer John Michael Montgomery plans to “wind down my touring career” over 2024 and ’25.

“It’s been a wonderful run for me,” he said.

06/07/25 - Cedar Park, TX - FIRST TIME AT THE HAUTE SPOT - Went to see John Michael Montgomery tonight with our good friends Steve and Linda. A few things come to mind about our experience. First, John Michael Montgomery stills got it: his singing voice is completely intact, his many hit songs brought back memories, and he is a born entertainer but still comes across as humble and likable. Second, it was great to share the good vibes with friends. And finally, why pay the big bucks to watch a concert in a large venue when you can go to a much more intimate venue under the trees like the Haute Spot? We’ll definitely be back.
