INCIDENT REPORT Document Number HF-97-0211 Dated August 5th 1997 RESEARCHER’S NOTE: The below document has been altered to accurately describe the persons’ involved current identities. On the request of upper management, names have also been redacted, due to the severity of the incident.

What are you reporting?: Injury to Civilians, Damage to Property, Containment Breach. When did it happen?  Afternoon of August 4th. Where did it happen: LWB. Basement Level. Cold Storage. Witnesses:  JH and PVH did not witness all of the event, but did arrive near the end to stop the breach with the Extraction Team. Who was involved:  Two children, 15 and 11. What happened: Two children entered the Cold Storage area, which is off limits to all civilians. [REDACTED] knocked into one of the Asset Containment Pods, waking Asset Six from her comatose state and causing her to break out of her containment. She attacked both children. This event was caught on CCTV, and an Extraction Team was able to intervene before she could cause any further damage to the room, or to the children. The youngest, [REDACTED], reports that he became lost in the building, that [REDACTED] went looking for him, and that it was his fault the incident occurred. However, [REDACTED] has been made aware on multiple occasions that Cold Storage is off limits and should not have allowed his younger cousin to indulge in exploring the Westenra building. Was there any injury to account for: [REDACTED]’s chest was severely lacerated. He was taken to hospital for assessment, but the damage is mostly cosmetic. [REDACTED] sustained a large cut across his right arm, which has been tended to by one of our medics on standby. Actions going forward: -THF will cover any private medical costs for [REDACTED], with the proviso that he is never allowed to enter the Westenra building again. -The Asset Pods will be evaluated for any future sleep disturbance.  -All Asset Containment Pods will be assessed for further ‘wear and tear’. - This will not be allowed to happen again.  Form completed by: JH

Ooh man, I love your Crew of Light's first Christmas tags.

Can you imagine... Lucy died on the longest days of the year, when light fades and darkness starts to reign on land and on everyone's souls from losing her. Then a month after Dracula becomes ash the Crew of Light are there together on the longest night of the year and Christmas and near the dawn of a new year. Light starts to slowly but surely come back, as if Quincey made sure of it.

Context: Anon is referring to my tags* on this post... Anon I wanted to reply to this with a comic on Christmas but I took too long,,, consider it a post-Christmas gift:

There was a cold-bloodedness in the act which wrung a groan from Arthur; when [vampire Lucy] advanced to him with outstretched arms and a wanton smile he fell back and hid his face in his hands. “Come to me, Arthur. Leave these others and come to me. My arms are hungry for you. Come, and we can rest together. Come, my husband, come!”

Mina listened to this on the phonograph. About the way vampire Lucy, covered in blood, opened her arms for Arthur, to embrace him.

Mina's reaction on October 3rd after the assault, when she notices Jonathan waking up in bed is the same. She opens her arms to embrace Jonathan, covered in blood:

[Jonathan] seemed dazed for a few seconds, and then full consciousness seemed to burst upon him all at once, and he started up. His wife was aroused by the quick movement, and turned to him with her arms stretched out, as though to embrace him; instantly, however, she drew them in again, and putting her elbows together, held her hands before her face, and shuddered till the bed beneath her shook.

However, the moment Mina realizes what she's doing, that she's imitating the time when Lucy tried to embrace Arthur, she draws her arms away from Jonathan and, just like Arthur did, she covers her face in horror.

Count Dracula attacks Mina after putting Jonathan under a sleep spell. +Bonus: Van Helsing & the boys wake up Jonathan to find that Mina has been taken by Dracula.

Jeremy,  I have not yet received confirmation regarding your attendance of the Carpathians Trip. This is very disappointing behaviour.   Please respond to this memo with an answer by the end of the day.  I would like you to consider the fact that if you do not attend this trip, your request to be transferred to London may well be put on hold. Arthur Jones will have to travel in your stead, and we will need someone of similar standing to take his place while I am also away.  You are not the head of this company. You do not simply get to decide what you do and do not wish to do.  I await your reply.  JH.

Regrettably I will be unable to attend the Carpathians trip, something I believe I have already made exceptionally clear to both yourself and the Amsterdam branch, with the fullness of time to find my replacement. I will be staying here. You cannot–....you cannot make me go.  I shall be transferring to London in July, as intended. Can we talk about “Mem. get recipe for Mina” for a second? Because other than just being a line that makes me smile EVERY time I see/hear it, it’s also the first mention we get of Mina!

I love this line for a multitude of reasons. It’s such a casual way to name drop a character and we don’t get any further elaboration on her, but we can gather that a) Mina is important to him in some way b) she will appear later and c) he is thinking of her even while being immersed in his travels, which is basically all he talks about for this first entry. She is really the only mention he brings up outside of these travels (except for when he mentions researching his trip in London), his tie to his “real life.”

I think it’s one of the few times I’ve seen an author drop in a character’s name like that and not have the POV character we’re reading from elaborate on who they are, why they want the recipe, etc. (it’s also heightened by our reading Dracula Daily reading experience, of course, since we’re not binge reading). It’s truly the art of show, don’t tell.
