Hi! Do you have a favourite sapphic podcast? I particularly like sci-fi, do you have any good sci-fi recs?

THE PASITHEA POWDER!!!! Hands down my favorite sapphic sci-fi podcast. One of my favorite podcasts Period.

The Pasithea Powder @pasitheapowder follows the two messiest bisexual women in the galaxy: Captain Sophie Green, a war hero, and Dr. Jane Gonzalez, a war criminal. They used to be best friends. They aren’t anymore, not after the space war. Jane’s research led to the end of the war, at terrible cost… but Sophie sees a new war brewing on the horizon, and secrets that the planetary government does not want getting out, and Jane and Sophie are the only ones who seem to care. Slowburn romance, inter-planetary politics, devastating war trauma, surprise aliens, a third dead character in their broken trio haunting the narrative more than I’ve ever seen anyone else do… it’s really good. Three seasons, completed.

My other favorite sapphic podcast which I love and is brilliant is Arden @ardenpodcast. Not sci-fi (has a couple sci-fi elements played for laughs, but it’s mostly realistically grounded). Arden is a fictional true crime podcast—Bea, a journalist, and Brenda, a disgraced former police detective, host a podcast investigating the cold case disappearance of a rising Hollywood starlet. They get in over their heads. It’s mostly a comedy—and it’s VERY funny. But it’s also a murder mystery, and a criticism of true crime sensationalism. But also, it’s really clever and funny. Two seasons, with a third one in production.

Another popular one I enjoy but have some critiques of is The Strange Case of Starship Iris. It’s a very heartfelt sapphic space opera about rebellion against the oppressive space government (and I love Ishani Kanetkar in anything.) Two seasons, with the third and final one in production.

Ooooooh, what distros are you trying? What use cases have you currently got going on? My work finally let me get WSL, and let me tell you, it's been a game changer. I was forever having to ssh into a linux box to do my work, now I can start work on my actual machine. Keep my work and my docs in the same place. It's been great. Since you've already done the ipod/rockbox thing, you should know: you can buy cheap used thinkpads/macbooks on ebay with new batteries. The intel macbooks will run any linux distro. Idk about the silicon ones, they might run arch? But your ipad can have a keyboard. And a good OS. 100%.

So far, just Mint! I actually started looking into it when I got sick of Spotify's garbage (bricking hardware I own on purpose) and Razer's garbage (screwed me over on repair costs and refused to work with me and also lied to me, fun!). I asked my friend studying cybersecurity and the like, and he was overjoyed and lent me his laptop to check it out. I haven't played with it much yet, mostly because the laptop is a finicky thing that likes to shut down the second it's unplugged.

I honestly might buy a cheap little machine just to make it my linux guy. I have a hard time separating from Windows because of gaming and video editing, but I do like having alternatives. Plus getting my feet wet with stuff like this makes me less "afraid" of computers and how they work. I consider myself a bit of a tourist when it comes to computers and coding-- I know a little and find it fascinating, but usually feel like too much of it goes over my head for me to be "a part" of the group. The solution is to just learn more, of course :') And I like having the tools to be as in-control of my stuff as possible.

If teenage you were creating a John Hughes DnD character to run around Spire and attend Aguefort Academy, what would that character be? Class/race/name/favourite school subject/hobby?

Ok this is an incredibly interesting question.

I think given the lore we’ve gotten in Spyre seasons, that dwarves in Elmville are compelling to me. Plus Hill Dwarf gets a great stat boost in 5e. I’m going to name her Brynlen. She is a skateboarding teen.

For class I’m picking one that’s fully just something I want to play soon, so mostly battle smith artificer with two levels in bladesinger wizard. Just because that seems like a fun combo.

Given her stance as a skateboarding teen, her steel defender would actually just be a skateboard she made for herself. It can take actions but is fully just a skateboard (like Jammer’s basketball familiar). Its name is Hawk. For Tony Hawk.

I think she likes the wizard classes more than the artificer classes at school because she can tell those nerds aren’t really thinking about the practical applications of what they can do and are waaay too focused on theory. She does enjoy shop classes because I think Aguefort Adventuring Academy does fully have a class where you just can blow shit up.

I think her hobbies would include attempting to build a sick skatepark with her friends and occasionally tinkering with crossing lights to extend the time when she notices they’re unbalanced for the people who cross there most often.
