Some new Jet Set Radio thoughts

Looks like it's going to be a remake/continuation of JSR rather than Future. Which is fine, obviously, but I'm a little sad because personally I preferred the grimier aesthetic of Future. Which I supposed was covered by BRC, which I would argue is more inspired by Future rather than JSR.

I guess they're going with JSR because it's more instantly recognisable? It's definitely more colourful and therefore arguably more memorable than Future.

I hope they take the handling from Future rather than the swimmy/syrupy feel of JSR.

I am personally not vibing with the art style. JSR/F are so iconic because of the chunky, kinda jank cell shading. BRC has just proved you can bring cell shading to modern games and still have it work.

This feels INCREDIBLY cynical after the success of BRC. Were they always going to bring it back or was it sitting in the drafts and waiting for the response to BRC?

I really, really hope that they treat it with the respect the franchise deserves but I can't help but think it's going to be a quick cash grab. Admittedly I am biased because BRC is like, game of the decade for me, but I think they absolutely *nailed* it. I can't see how Sega can top that.

faker (actually named mighty! stole the name from the aformentioned guy, and now impersonates him for fun. bomberman jetters sona by technicality.)

hia (not her real name, haven't come up with one. her and doku, her twin, were based on camellia's proseka next submissions.)

doku (not her real name. i did listen to the songs while designing the twins! both are the last member's of cath's group. doku also has some inspiration from grafaiai!)

fortune (old persona oc. no clue why they have no mouth or right eye, i thought it was cool. and it is! they're technically a boxer, but they have metal spikes on their forearms/over their hand, so idk what to call that.)

blaster (no pronouns! either avoid pronouns or just say blaster's name. designed after ama, inspired by sia. specifically from the song blaster, as i think this was before avant raze came out.)

beakon (another persona oc, and technically a sona? at the time they were, anyway. an anti shadow suppression weapon! draw their hair with ovular motions, as that's how i distinctly remember doing it.)

null (technically a gym leader sona! loosely an electric type leader, except for their team is wildly varying in types. really the only electric type they have is a toxtricity, of which they own two, one of both types.)

mighty (not a bomberman. an old trauma center sona, i decided to revamp him! he's all grown up now and got top surgery yayyipee!! gave him tattoos of a bunch of GUILT strains bc it looks sick as hell.)

axele (pronounced like axl/axel. thought it'd be funny to mix a bunch of types of how axle is spelled. sae/saem/saer pronouns, will elaborate if asked. technically part of the persona oc group, doubling as a promare oc as well.)

karin (another persona oc! she's a trans man. pronouns are a playground and she's king of the hill babey!)

unnamed, sunglasses (a lobcorp oc. hit randomize in one of coco(koko?)'s picrews. i should really name them.

Now for a summary of what’s happened:

After going up to the under-reconstruction Tropical Resort part of Eggman’s interstellar amusement park, Eggman and Nega found a huge, out-of-place metallic ‘P’ partially embedded in the ground. When the letter opened, out jumped three silver robots- one small one and two larger ones- unlike any either of the doctors made. But there was one last thing in the letter- a very young man in a black cloak and red-lensed glasses.

After some introductions, this young man- Purge, offered up the idea that Ivo was sacrificing his own happiness for others while making the amusement park. Now, Purge, when he was trying to make everyone in his own galaxy happy hadn’t sacrificed his own happiness. He suggested getting whatever he needed to truly be happy first, and Nega brought up ‘uniting the world’ again- world domination. Purge, knowing full well what Nega truly meant, agreed to help. He has his own plan, actually, and he’s offered to help them. By helping them, perhaps everyone would win.

Well, these three would win. Everyone else? Possibly not. That would depend on how well things can work between these three. With Purge’s plan being different from the plans of the two doctors, it’s possible things will go wrong for all three.

hi! it seems i'm back earlier than usual, which is a good thing! i'm back with misato! i think people know by now, misato is one of my top 3 characters to make icons of! i promise i'll eventually make icons of other fandoms i'm in, (twewy, kingdom hearts squid game, saiki k, jsr, etc.) but maybe it'll come sooner than later, because editing icons and posting them keeps me going- not really but it is what it is 😋!! anyways, thanks for checking out my icons!!

What’s the story behind your icon?

it's graffiti from jet set radio! specifically it's titled "How Much is That Mutt in the Window?" by SICK PUPPY. i fell in love with it from the moment is aw it and now i use it everywhere.
