Jsut had the most unhinged conversation defending Wren in tsh and tpt. Some people really think Oak didn't deserve the way he was treated, and that Wren deserved to stay dead in tpt. This person really came off as a privileged person who's never been misunderstood in their life. No empathy whatsoever

Wouldn't it be twisted if, even after Yubei is born, Macaque still didn't realize the reasoning he lost his eye was because he himself had been a threat to his mate's unborn child until they were in the Scroll of Memory? If he still felt some resentment towards Wukong for that and wad jsut willing to put it aside for the sake of the cub up until he and MK see the battle where Macaque lost his eye, and with rage and anger clouding his senses, Macaque could clearly see how Wukong was trying to tell him something and remained on the defensive until Macaque's younger self made a move towards Wukong's stomach? If he only just then noticed the fact there was a baby bump on Wukong even back then and how Wukong's pilgrim brithers tried several times to step in only to be pushed back by either an angered Mac or Wukong himself (because as far as Wukong is concerned this is a private matter between Him and His Mate and also said mate is his equal in battle and pissed off so please just STAY BACK WHERE YOU CAN'T GET HURT YA IDIOTS!!)

I feel like it would be the point where Macaque really has it sink in that; "Oh gods, he was terrified of me in that moment." Since after a point, he knows Wukong has been pregnant since the start of the Journey through Wukong himself and/or MK.

Cus whilst him and Wukong are sorta back together, they still have "hey remember when you took my eye?" "remember when you tried to kill my master?"-type arguments. To the point that Macaque was relieved that Wukong had "only" gotten himself trapped in an artifact and not walked out on him and had taken the baby with him.

And when he and MK stumble across a fight that he really didn't want the kid seeing? Mac pauses.

Mac sees how his cudgel nearly struck Wukong's stomach.

He sees how his King's eyes flash with rage and how he instinctually slashed Macaque across the right side of his face to disorrient him.

Mac sees how his younger self's vision blurrs with blood and hate and how he ignored a plea from the King that his many ears failed to hear;

"Plums, please! I'm-"

The scene flashes back to the beginning just before they see Wukong move to swing the Ruyi Jingu Bang towards Macaque's frenzied strike.

Macaque in the present day falls to his knees. He watches the scene replay multiple times before MK shakes him from his catatonia. All he can feel around him is the wind of that final encounter.

MK: "...Thats what happened between you two, right? Not just under mountain." Macaque: "Yeah." MK: "You really didn't know at the time, did you?" Macaque: "I should have. If I had just... listened." MK: *conflicted cus he's wanting to comfort Mac, but still needs to find Wukong* *kneels down to join Mac on the ground* MK: "Well, you can start by maybe hearing the Monkey King out a little more on stuff. They probably all move closer to the village in some form and try to be closer to Branch, even if his girl and kids don't particularly want them there. JD might jsut outright join the Guard

Smidge runs the guard after Branch is gone, and she does give John a chance even if it's just because she knew Branch might have wanted to share what he made.

I like to think Guy really did want to be friends with Branch for a long time and liked him. Not romantically, of course. Like, in spite of his teasing, he never wanted to actually hurt Branch kind of deal, we font see him mock him nearly as much as the others on the first movie. So going on this adventure and having his thoughts and feelings about Branch not being that bad not only validated bit proven completely correct must make him happy because he jsut knew there was more to him, nobody that has such nice hugs can be bad!

Oh yeah I think Guy Diamond likes Branch plenty. There’s a couple of scenes in the beat goes on where they get along quite well like when they go camping and he admits to wanting to impress Branch (feels relevant to the au)

and theres one scene when Smidge is trying to talk to Milton Moss and they’re both watching and Guy says something like “Man don’t you kinda wish he was your dad?” And Branch is like “Yeah.” (Guy Diamond potentially no dad?)

And than when Smidge is about to embarrass herself Poppy is like “I can’t watch!” And both of them are running past her like “we can!”

Also in the first movie he’s hugging Branch so tightly and just hugs himself after despite Creek being like right there.

Everyone is asking why no one listens to Helaena when she hasn’t said anything worth listening to! Every dreamer GRRM has written fought against or worked towards what they saw and here she is giving vague one liners and never acting on it.

Daenys dream about the Doom of Valyria: Convinced her father to leave Valyria before the destruction and saved her family and the entire Targaryen dynasty.

Aegon the Conqueror dream about the Others: United the Seven Kingdoms to prepared the War for the Dawn 

Daenerys dream about dragons in AGOT: Putting together all clues from her dragon dreams and performed magic ritual to wake the dragons.

Helaena being compared to Cassandra of Troy is so funny because her dreams literally serve no impact to the story, she’s not even shown dreaming, she just mumbles nonsensical phrases to give the audience/readers a sneak peek than does nothing about it. Helena’s dreamer’s arc was to say randoms words that she didn’t even understand herself, she never analyzed anything until she had the opportunity to react and was made to look like a horrible mother who didn’t cared about her son. It’s disappointing because changing small things like having her act a little paranoid and ask for more guards or being the tiniest bit more insistent about the rat line could’ve made this work because it would look like she at least tried to save him. She didn’t try to make him understand when it’s clear Aegon was confused. She was coherent enough to tell him not to interfere with Jaehaerys’s education so she should have been able to express even a smidge more about her dragon dreams.

Yes, I'd have to agree. I can't believe I'm defending the greens, but what has Helaena actually said that could clue anyone in on anything ominous or threatening or related to anything happening right here, right now? We have seen no instance of her giving as-clear-as possible warning, actually relating her "dreams" to others. And the only time that the latter occurs is her telling Aegon she's afraid of rats...which no one likes...anyone would need more detail. which again, leads me back to my conclusions that to make this neurodivergent girl a false dreamer who can't communicate her "dreams" very well or seemingly with a lot of low effort essentially just "traps" her within the suffering. Unlike Cassandra who was literally cursed, Helaena's obstacle is her inability to communicate and not necessarily others' unwillingness to listen. So they make her disability a critical element of a fatal hindrance AND it emotionally isolates her away from just about everyone. It leans towards dehumanizing bc Helaena/a disabled person becomes more of a silent, "useless", "burden" whose missed value is in those dreams she can't even communicate.

Just to nail it it again: like I said earlier HERE, a true "vision" (from other/most supernatural/fantasy media) is a full-fledged image or sound from a "scene" as if you are present & experiencing it as if you were there or observing it movie-like:

a mental image of what the future will or could be like an experience of seeing someone or something in a dream or trance, or as a supernatural apparition a vivid mental image, especially a fanciful one of the future

What HotD!Helaena is actually "intuition":

the power or faculty of attaining to direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference immediate apprehension or cognition knowledge or conviction gained by intuition quick and ready insight

We see no evidence at all of her having fully fledged visions, jsut these "feelings" for us to even qualify her abilities as actual dragon "dreams". Every dragon ASoIAF dream that has been described has been visions as opposed to intuition. And every single dragon dream is told as being "nightmare[s]", "dream[s],". Dany sleeps, dreams, and has her visions that way

(the Qartheen House of the undying are not dragon dreams, Dany had to drink shade of the evening to see whatever the visions these Qartheen warlocks brought her to se and eventually trap her):

Zelda EOW log continued: The vest sewing part

Man oh man the muslin/toile was super necessary. The pattern I bought was…not very beginner friendly. The photos in it were bad, and the phrasing they used was odd and unclear to me

I sought Reddit’s help with one step bc I just could not wrap my head around what they wanted me to do (and I’d forgotten how to pin curved pieces together properly so I was confused why things weren’t lining up…). The kind souls there were very helpful, and I see now, after someone pointed it out, that the pattern writer was probably talking about Topstitching, but without using the term topstitching

So I tried that out on one seam and was like 👍 cool, Not gonna bother doing that on the real version unless absolutely necessary

Also check out my poor woman’s tailor’s sausage I came up with (pringles can wrapped in a hand towel)

Finished the mock-up (didn’t bother sewing the trim all the way down since I jsut needed to assess how it Fit) and was Mildly Distressed. Probably from sewing too much

I did some sloppy pinching and pinning and marking and measuring the marks, then stared at the pattern pieces for a very long time. There were two smaller sizes still, but it seemed like that wasn’t enough, so I trimmed the back and side piece patterns an additional 3/4 inch from the smallest size while cutting out my Real fabric

Got that mostly put together over the next couple days, added some darts to the back for a better fit before I added the neck and front trim

Collar was kinda wonky. Partly bc I wasn’t sure how to cut that piece down smaller bc the size lines were all pretty close together, so I think I extended it around the top too much. Not opposed to this kind of high collar look, but since this is her disguise it makes more sense to me if it looks Plain

the instructions only seemed to indicate that the edge of the collar should be “processed to assure against fraying” (so, finishing the edge with a zigzag bc I’m not made of money to have a serger lmao). But myehhhh with a woven cotton like this it doesn’t look Good for that to be showing on the outside. Unless there was some manner of hem I was supposed to make. I ended up just kinda folding it in half and basting the excess onto the neck and shoulder seam allowances, and hand basting a blind stitch for parts that couldn’t reach a seam allowance

Then I did side and bottom hems, and it was time for the last assembly step to finish off the armholes with binding. Made my own bias tape out of the same fabric for simplicity. Still felt like it took forever to do the whole thing, even after having sewn one on the toile. I hadn’t quite grasped how to do understitching till I watched even more videos (it did not help that in my practice one I’d trimmed the seam allowance waaaaay too short). It is Life changing how magical a good understitching is

I left the other armhole for the next day bc I kept being up too late sewing…

This felt like it took even Longer Still... I added stay stitching to the lower fold of the bias tape to help press the crease and keep it mostly creased while I sewed the top half of the bias tape on. It kinda worked ? So that’s nice

But I was beset by hiccups. First my machine kept getting the top thread stuck in the bobbin area (thankfully that was an easy “oh, duh” fix of just upping the tension a smidge). Then I went to do the basting before the last step of topstitching, but my bobbin thread ran out and I didn’t realize until I’d already gone all the way around 🫠 and Then my basting revealed some puckers, so I had to unpick those parts. THEN when I started my topstitching something got all weird and the stitches didn’t look right. So I had to unpick all THAT too and redo it

But then, finally, it was assembled. The vest thingy was ready for its last pressing, and then I hid a few threads at some hems (I like to thread the tails into a needle and send them by hand to the back and between the fold(s) of the hem, kinda like how I learned to hide yarn tails making amigurumi hehe)

Technically it’s not DONE done bc I still need to wash it—the marker on the back for guessing the dart top/bottoms is still showing to lol—and then iron it. I never knew sewing clothes would involve So Much time with the iron…

If I had time (which I don’t lol) I’d add a lining to it, once I’d figured out how to add a lining to something already completely done…

Thus concludes this phase of the sewing saga. I need to alter the white dress I bought and take it in in. A lot of places. I haven’t done much for the cape except tape some paper together for the pattern pieces, only to realize I did not print out all the pages (-: not sure how, but something something Murphy’s law
