Ruby’s eyes slowly opened up. It worked! It w—

A disgruntled voice spoke, “Hey. Wake up.”

Ruby rubbed her eyes and slowly sat up. Was she sleeping on the ground? She looked around the room. It was a pretty boring room. 

Another, more familiar voice yawned, and said, “Well, that worked.” Thorin was curled up next to a desk. It was simple, like how it was supposed to be, Ruby noticed. There was a small monitor on that desk, which he seemed to be studying.  

Of course, there was also Althea. She was actually on the tiny bed, sitting up from the red covers. She was staring at the resident of the room. 

“Well, get up goobers. Did your lot at least have a good nap?” the dark blue penguin continued on. 

Althea glanced at Thorin, and Althea responded before the others could answer. 

“Of course,” she answered. Ruby disagreed, though. Her back hurt from laying on the ground, but Althea was lucky enough to wake up in the bed. 

“Well, great for you...Now get out of my bed!” The penguin exclaimed. 

The three stood up, startled by him. 

“The AUDACITY of people these days! Do you really think you can just sleep anywhere you want, huh??”

Ruby’s eyes went to Thorin, who she knew would speak up. 

“Well, we actually have a situation with—well, Builderman. He’s been kidnapped, and we sort of time traveled back here to fix things,” he responded, like Ruby hoped.

The penguin, clearly as confused as he should be, responded, “Whuh?? Builderman? Kidnapping... Time Travel???”

Ruby’s eyes went to a sign on his fridge, or what looked like one anyways. It read, “Terry”. That must be his name, she noted. 

“I don't know what ur talkin' about dude, it's 2010," the penguin, no, Terry answered. He went on, rambling about the trio’s strange looks and something about the hotel wanting to talk to them. 

“Well, thanks,” Ruby finally said, after staying quiet for the longest time. She walked to the door, and waited for the others. 

The trio walked down the halls and stairs, and Ruby had to stop herself from rolling her eyes from the terrible design of the hotel. Have these people ever heard of a stairwell? Let alone an elevator?

Finally, they reached the lobby. The receptionist perked up when he saw the three, and they walked over.

“Oh! Are you uh…Thorin, Ruby, and Althea?” He asked. Ruby nodded. 

“Don’t you have a letter for us?” Thorin asked. 

“Yes! We have a letter for you! Just a moment…” the man fumbled through some drawers. “Aha! Here you are! It’s from John Sheledsky himself! He would like to meet you three at ROBLOX HQ in East Bizville!”

“You must be some big-shots from out of town…how interesting! Well, good luck on your trek to the office!” the receptionist continued after looking at the three of them. He must also think we look strange, although I can’t blame him. We should’ve changed into more fitting clothes for the time before crossing over. 

And with that, they opened the door to the new—well, old world.

[Prologue 2 [⟐]]

> So, I actually decided to work more on the fic! Well, let's see if I actually continue...anyways *ahem*. The chapter does delve into some card logic a bit, which does deviate a tiny bit from canon. This chapter is a bit of a transition chapter, but it's hard to talk about the trio without talking about their adventures! -Junocore

Thorin was amazed that it worked. Wait–astonished? That was a better word, right? Thorin was astonished that his trio managed to travel back…even if their travel was a bit too hasty. After talking with Ruby and Althea, they had realized just how much they had forgotten to bring. While each of them had 50 tix, Thorin had only brought his ball card. Maybe they should hit up a shop. 

“Hm, there’s a shop over there. Althea, you wanna see if there’s anything good for us to take?” Thorin asked. Althea nodded, and they headed left. 

As the three approached, the shopkeeper introduced with, “Welcome to my humble shop.”

Althea looked at the wares, and thought to herself. 

“Two bloxy colas, a double cheezburger…and that should be all,” she responded while counting out and handing out the cash. 

“Have a great day!” The shopkeeper yelled out, and they left. 

They walked for a bit, taking in all of the sights. A strange man was in an alleyway…selling…something. Thorin made a note to himself to check it out later, maybe there was something interesting in his wares. There was a library there, and some sort of donation stand. They continued their walk to the HQ. 

“Wait…I forgot to mention it, but while I was putting away the snacks, I found an extra superball card. Forgot, but I always keep one of these things just in case. Ruby, do you want it?” Althea asked.

“I…hm, my aim isn’t great. You can keep it,” Ruby responded.

Thorin thought for a moment. Althea didn’t battle as much as him and Ruby, but she was right. Her aim was… amateur, to say the least. 

Then the three passed a dog park, and Thorin had to keep his eye on the prize, to get to Roblox HQ. He found it odd that Sheldsky knew the three were coming. That there was a letter…and what that could mean. A problem for a later time, he decided.

They stood in front of a huge building, constructed of mostly glass walls. They opened the door. 

“Augh!” Thorin yelped, as he noticed the tiny noob trying to attack his leg. The noob backed up though. At least those pests followed some rules. 

He fumbled for his superball card, and took it out. He held it, and waited for Ruby and Althea. Ruby passed her turn and defended, while Althea followed suit with him. 

The noob was already holding their sword, so the cards were played. Thorin threw his superball. Althea threw hers next, and the noob was knocked out. He felt a tiny bit bad, but it was on Roblox HQ for allowing them to attack their visitors anyways. 

“A little off my game,” Thorin muttered to himself. But things improved with the next battle, spotting the flying creatures before they spotted the trio, and he attacked first.

Their ascent up the building continued similarly, and everything ended well except for a tiny arrow to his arm. It was fine, though. He took a sip out of an apple juice he found from a Nooblet. Althea glanced at him, clearly judging his actions...but whatever. On the other hand, she convinced him to not pick up the cheezburger with a bite taken out of it. 

Something about hygiene. 

They opened the door to the bridge, with no luck so far, when a voice rang out…
