I just saw the longest post in which an atheist complained about basically…atheism not being treated with as much respect to just “be” as other religions.

I know I am human and I definitely have bias, but I’ve been many religions and really tried my best to fit those roles- and it just felt. Really lost on me that someone could go on for so long about not wanting discourse about religion brought to them, when bringing up atheism in other religious spaces.

“What I believe directly contradicts what you believe and I want to talk about it” means that you have to be willing to get response? And if you are not, why are you starting those conversations?

I guess I was just really annoyed I spent so long reading a post in which someone was yelling about wanting, a better and different level of respect than pretty much all people get. If you enter the realm of religious discourse, you have to be ready for the discourse part. It LIVES THERE.

TLDR;

I spent too much time reading someone’s rant about wanting to get into conversations about religion without being challenged about religion and their personal beliefs. That’s just not how conversations go???

was looking at a prompt list to maybe scribble a little steve/bucky drabble, you know, as one does, and there's the prompt "reunion hug" right there and of course it catches my eye, right? and i'm like, well i could just set this somewhere in canon, there's that one point in the timeline that would really fit this!

and i am once again just slapped in the face with the sheer freaking number of times canon rips these guys away from each other. like fuck!! fuck!!!! verily i say unto thee, fuck!!!!!!!!!!!! can they catch a break already??!!!

but you know what? every single time they're forced apart, every. single. time. they manage to find their way back to each other. always. inevitably. through time and space, through death, through everything, no matter what. and i just think that's beautiful

did 90 pages of my reading for three different classes is everyone proud of me :) finished the chapter on judaism for my sacred texts class, read "an apology for poetry" by sir philip sidney for my lit theory class, and did my two chapters of reading from the truth about stories by thomas king for my folklore and mythology class. and wrote a summary paper on that sacred texts chapter. and did my little writing assignment for my french class. all while sick. who is going to kiss me on the forehead and tell me i did a good job

I think Tarzan also has one of the best setups for a villain who monologues their true intentions at the end of the movie.

Clayton’s introduction is someone we hear before we see, spending the entire time hacking through the brush bragging about his accomplishments as a safari hunter. He lives for the thrill of the hunt and the recognition, praise, and notoriety those exploits garner. It means when Tarzan is restrained at the end on the boat, it’s entirely in character for Clayton to brag about exactly what he plans to do in betraying them and capturing the gorillas. He doesn’t even have to do it for long, just long enough to break the spirit of the hero before throwing him to the lowest point he’s been in the story.

If you’re going to have a character monologue it can’t feel out of place or disrupt the flow and pacing of the movie, and it definitely can’t be out of character for that particular character to give it. Too often monologues can sound like they were written for the satisfaction of the writer instead of serving the story, and when that’s the case it’s a “kill your darlings” scenario; every word in a monologue has to be necessary, or else it needs to be cut out
