Good Morning/Night!
So, as a Ducktales fan, I wanted to provide some of my own headcanons!
DELLA DUCK
• In all honesty, I think she would be the type to have gotten a sperm donor instead of having a one night stand or settling down with a male duck.
• She is a terrible mother and I wish the show provided more of a growth episode than her neglecting and abusing Louie. I mean, locking him in a room with no food or bathroom, then leaving him alone with a ghost and robot that attacks him based on his thoughts, and finally, who go's on a kids dream trip to teach them a lesson and tells them they can't be apart of the family (that she only just rejoined after years) for being themselves? That's just messed up.
• She gives me bisexual aromantic/demiromantic vibes.
DONALD DUCK
• He definitely knows about Louie's Kids, he isn't an idiot.
• I bet he taught HDL not to call him by parental titles because he didn't want to steal that from Della even with her betrayal.
• He strikes me as the kind of parent who is overprotective and gets exasperated easily but will answer any question and strives to let HDL achieve all their dreams within reason.
• He sent the triplets to school while he worked but would randomly call said school at Recess/Lunch to check that they were okay and behaving because HDL are trouble makers and he's worried about Scrooge's enemies.
• He got help from Goofy a lot as he has parenting experience with Max and is good with young kids.
• Mickey and Minnie would provide him free medical care for HDL and himself as they knew about his money struggles and are certified medical practitioners. (Mickey = Docter | Minnie = Child Psychologist).
HUEY DUCK
• Definitely has autism and butes/chews things/himself/his brothers as a stim
• I feel like he would actually be the second messiest next to Dewey of the three but tries to keep everything clean.
• JWG book and hat are comfort items.
• His favourite genres are fantasy, historical fiction and romance.
• He has small scars on his hands from JWC stuff.
• He likes to read in his spare time.
• He learnt first aid because of the disaster that is Dewey and Donald, but also because Louie gets injured the most
• He is a bisexual mess that falls for Violet when their 14.
• In highschool he joins the student council, dance committee and is Dungeon Master.
• He tutors Dewey and others during Recess.
• Is a good drawer.
• Becomes a chemical engineer and JWC leader.
DEWEY DUCK
• ADHD disaster.
• Is the best of the three at sports.
• Musical theatre kid that takes up drama, basketball and yearbook committee in highschool.
• Did you say dare! I'll do it!
• Becomes a pilot and actor as an adult after serving in the army like Donald (Navy pilot).
• Is an aroace. No time for love when danger is out there.
• Will do any dare that doesn't go against his moral code.
• If you hurt his brothers, be prepared to be beaten.
• Adventures the most as an adult.
• His fashion sense doesn't change much from punk jock at all. Varsity jacket and fingerless gloves forever.
• Ends up with a sneaker addiction.
• Gets a pet Labrador or hawk or both at some point to help him know when to stop and eat.
• Forgets to eat or drink and has to be reminded too by his brothers.
LOUIE DUCK
• Saves the Money from Louie's Kids in case of an emergency and for education necause he knows Donald wouldn't otherwise.
• I an anxiety and depression ridden mess.
• Goes to Mickey and Minnie the most due to all the injuries and trauma he receives from adventuring and his struggle with Della's return.
• Has a large online following.
• Is a technology, mathematical and social sciences prodigy.
• Enjoys writing in his spare time.
• Is the only triplet that knows how to cook.
• Is good at arts and crafts (Did you see his board). Specifically fashion and interior design but can draw well.
• Kepps stim toys, pens and notepads in his pockets for his brothers and himself.
• Would end up with a cat one day.
• Goldie taught him how to be a better conartist and to escape any situation.
• Is a sharpshooter and secretly does gymnastics.
• Would join debate and band (drums but can play violin and piano) so he can walk home with his brothers after their own clubs.
• Has a bad relationship with Della so goes to Donald or Goldie if he needs anything.
• Would go through law school but owns charities that he let's Dewey be the spokes person for while he runs side businesses that Huey oversees as he becomes an underground boss to catch criminals for cops/Scrooge. (He's got the reputation, why not use it?).
• He is the Duck family go to when they need a lawyer.
• Funds his brothers, the girls and Donald's lives unlike Scrooge did when Donald moved away to raise HDL.
• Does heists with Goldie for the fun of it more than profit.
• He so learnt magic and became immortal somehow.
WEBBY VANDERQUACK
• Marries Lena (they are cute together even if only platonically).
• Inherits Scrooge's fortune and buisness but Louie has already become immortal and the richest Duck in the world when she does.
• Becomes a spy like Beakley and gets info from Louie.
• Settles into the role of adventurer and buisness owner but adopts children she meets on her adventures.
• I feel like she would renovate the Mansion to be more pink and provides safer storage for stuff. (Seriously Scrooge, a gold hunting dragon in a garage when LP as your driver?).
• Is so the fun aunt/mum
That is all, thank ye for reading!

I wanted to compare the different ways i draw Jon. The difference is really in the hair. (WC!Jon is just Jon from my upcoming fic. Specifically S1 era. The third image is set in that au as well.)
Bonus doodles yippee!

That jongerry art is from when I first got into the ship, and is technically my first ever Gerry drawing.

Donald’s soul
being on hiatus in a fandom i just entered had me thinking about some details
in the harp ep, at the arts and crafts table
this was the tail Donald made and it was stated
‘i feel like i am looking at your very soul’
I am bored so i thought i would try and break it down logically as to want this might mean.
to do that we have to look at everyone else’s
Huey and Dewy
Huey’s is the most straight forward as he is a straight forward person
the JWC are a big part of who he is, as he lives by the JWC life lessons
-being kind, safe and working hard
-but also having structure (all of this is expanded on in ep 1 of this season)
Dewy’s on the other hand, could be a few things
-the fire of adventure
-the recklessness and destructive power fire has
-the way he warms people around him
- is a light to others
-plus the pattern itself is one used by people who want to ‘look cool’ that is also a big part of Dewy’s character
so these do sum them up quiet well,
the only other on we see is Scrooge’s
(this was the best image i could find)
it is literally a money sake
think old school robber with the dollar sign on it. the image it self is not enough (as explained in the ep its not until Scrooge’s outburst that they accept it)
because unlike very one else Scrooge was not sincere until this moment
the Dollar sign itself is an interesting choice
as the Scottish currency to Scrooge growing up would have been merk’s, pounds or shillingsso the dollar sign would be about what else
his number one dime
that as been explained many times through out the show as the catechist that made him the man he is
so in an odd way he did actually show his truth
the simple sack is his poor upbringing and the dollar sign is his dime and everything it represents
so back to Donald
what could these colours and patterns represent and what does it say about him as a person
the dark blue strips is most likely his old uniform (this could also apply to the circles but i don’t think so)
a navy man someone with honour
someone who is disciplined
this is also what he used to wear when he first started adventuring
the pink could be his rage (this is me reaching but meh)
rage or anger is usually shown through red but in Donald’s case its about looking at where his anger is from and how it is used. these are both explained by his anger management consular
-where his rage is from= thinking the world is out to get him and not being understood
- how he uses it = protective instinct
so his anger is used for love thus the pink and not red
as to the light blue and yellow i think this is to represent the boys as in ep 2 when we get a look into Donald’s mind (kind of) the scene transitions for the boys look like this
so these boys are in yellow and blue, this is how the boys appear to Donald and he integrated that into the tail.
the colour from Huey
the dots from Dewy
and the stripes from Louie
so all of these things make up Donald’s soul
-the boy’s
-his rage and how he uses it for love
-the man he is in uniform and how those old adventures stayed with him, so he is a man of action and serves
- his is all shown in an artist way and is not as straight forward as everyone else’s that could be a call back to him being a performer / artist himself
but most importantly, the colours are layered and the dots overlap everything. so Donald's life is messy and full, but he has a since of stability because of the boy’s
so yeah this is Donald’s soul is laid bare here at least this is what i got out of it.
#ducktales#ducktales 2017#ducktales season 3#Donald duck#huey duck#dewy duck#louie duck#scrooge mcduck#dt2017#dt#yeah break downs of things that don't matter#Whoo#text#image

Time for another round of birthday headcanons! This time it’s Huey, Dewey, and Louie!
This one is gonna be divided into headcanons for each boy and them as a group. Since this one might be longer than my previous two I will put the individual headcanons under a readmore.
When they were younger, all three were equally into The Junior Woodchucks.
Donald dressed them in identical outfits when they we babies and once he put them all in little sailor suits.
They can only pull off the “triplet switch” with babysitters who have never watched them before.
All three inherited Donald/Della’s high tolerance for pain
Donald has taken them to Funzone on their birthday every year since they were 4.
Huey:
Is actually a pretty good baseball player
Huey showed signs of having Donald’s temper pretty young
Of the boys, Huey was/is the closest to Donald and really looks up to him
He wants to start a DnD group
There were many hats Huey tried before his signature cap. He used to wear a little sailor’s hat when he was in preschool
Huey is a HUUUUUUGE FAN of rom-coms. His brothers will watch them with him but they aren’t big on them.
He’s in choir and is currently a soprano
Huey has been working with Fenton to modify/improve the Gizmoduck armor. ONE DAY THEY’LL FIX THAT BREAKABLE VISOR!
Dewey:
He watches a lot of 90s high school sitcoms
Of the three boys, Dewey has asked Donald for a pet the most often. Donald got them a goldfish and Dewey lost it while trying to walk it
He loves musicals! Donald took him to see the live show tour of High School Musical (or whatever it’s called it that world)
He also really likes figure skating
He took dance lessons when they were younger
He’s done community theatre. His performance as tree #3 was HEART-WRENCHING
Dewey has the most troubled relationship with Donald due to Dewey thinking he’s boring and Donald seeing Dewey as a mini Della
Scrooge also saw him as a mini Della when they first met and that’s why he couldn’t remember Dewey’s name
Louie:
He is the most sensitive of the brothers. Bambi did a NUMBER on him as a tot
Louie really likes drawing but is too lazy/impatient to see an art piece through to the end
He’s also a surprisingly good chef but again, lazy
Louie is a big fan of reality tv and competition shows
He had Donald check under his bed for monsters
He would swipe spare water bottles/snacks from Huey’s football games and sell them back to the coach
He sold arts and crafts projects he and his brothers had to make to get JWC badges
He also sold off most of his badges
Happy 82nd Birthday boys! You don’t look a day over 11.

Read: Jeannette Ng's Campbell Award acceptance speech, in which she correctly identifies Campbell as a fascist and expresses solidarity with Hong Kong protesters

Last weekend, Jeanette Ng won the John W Campbell Award for Best New Writer at the 2019 Hugo Awards at the Dublin Worldcon; Ng's acceptance speech calls Campbell, one of the field's most influential editors, a "fascist" and expresses solidarity with the Hong Kong pro-democracy protesters.
I am a past recipient of the John W Campbell Award for Best New Writer (2000) as well as a recipient of the John W Campbell Memorial Award (2009). I believe I'm the only person to have won both of the Campbells, which, I think, gives me unique license to comment on Ng's remarks, which have been met with a mixed reception from the field.
I think she was right -- and seemly -- to make her remarks. There's plenty of evidence that Campbell's views were odious and deplorable. For example, Heinlein apologists like to claim (probably correctly) that his terrible, racist, authoritarian, eugenics-inflected yellow peril novel Sixth Column was effectively a commission from Campbell (Heinlein based the novel on one of Campbell's stories). This seems to have been par for the course for JWC, who liked to micro-manage his writers: Campbell also leaned hard on Tom Godwin to kill the girl in "Cold Equations" in order to turn his story into a parable about the foolishness of women and the role of men in guiding them to accept the cold, hard facts of life.
So when Ng held Campbell "responsible for setting a tone of science fiction that still haunts the genre to this day. Sterile. Male. White. Exalting in the ambitions of imperialists and colonisers, settlers and industrialists," she was factually correct.
Not just factually correct: also correct to be saying this now. Science fiction (like many other institutions) is having a reckoning with its past and its present. We're trying to figure out what to do about the long reach that the terrible ideas of flawed people (mostly men) had on our fields. We're trying to reconcile the legacies of flawed people whose good deeds and good art live alongside their cruel, damaging treatment of women. These men were not aberrations: they were following an example set from the very top and running through fandom, to the great detriment of many of the people who came to fandom for safety and sanctuary and community.
It's not a coincidence that one of the first organized manifestations of white nationalism as a cultural phenomenon was within fandom, and while fandom came together to firmly repudiate its white nationalist wing, these assholes weren't (all) entryists who showed up to stir trouble in someone else's community. The call (to hijack the Hugo award) was coming from inside the house: these guys had been around forever, and we'd let them get away with it, in the name of "tolerance" even as these guys were chasing women, queer people, and racialized people out of the field.
Those same Nazis went on to join Gamergate, then take up on /r/The_Donald, and they were part of the vanguard of the movement that put a boorish, white supremacist grifter into the White House.
The connection between the tales we tell about ourselves and our past and futures have a real, direct outcome on the future we arrive at. White supremacist folklore, including the ecofascist doctrine that says we can only avert climate change by murdering all the brown people, comes straight out of sf folklore, where it's completely standard for every disaster to be swiftly followed by an underclass mob descending on their social betters to eat and/or rape them (never mind the actual way that disasters go down).
When Ng took the mic and told the truth about his legacy, she wasn't downplaying his importance: she was acknowledging it. Campbell's odious ideas matter because he was important, a giant in the field who left an enduring mark on it. No one disagrees about that. What we want to talk about today is what that mark is, and what it means.
Scalzi points out:
There are still people in our community who knew Campbell personally, and many many others one step removed, who idolize and respect the writers Campbell took under his wing. And there are people — and once again I raise my hand — who are in the field because the way Campbell shaped it as a place where they could thrive. Many if not most of these folks know about his flaws, but even so it’s hard to see someone with no allegiance to him, either personally or professionally, point them out both forcefully and unapologetically. They see Campbell and his legacy abstractly, and also as an obstacle to be overcome. That’s deeply uncomfortable.
He's not wrong, and the people who counted Campbell as a friend are legitimately sad to confront the full meaning of his legacy. I feel for them. It's hard to reconcile the mensch who was there for you and treated his dog with kindness and doted on his kids with the guy who alienated and hurt people with his cruel dogma.
Here's the thing: neither one of those facets of Campbell cancel the other one out. Just as it's not true that any amount of good deeds done for some people can repair the harms he visited on others; it's also true that none of those harms cancel out the kindnesses he did for the people he was kind to.
Life is not a ledger. Your sins can't be paid off through good deeds. Your good deeds are not cancelled by your sins. Your sins and your good deeds live alongside one another. They coexist in superposition.
You (and I) can (and should) atone for our misdeeds. We can (and should) apologize for them to the people we've wronged. We should do those things, not because they will erase our misdeeds, but because the only thing worse than being really wrong is not learning to be better.
People are flawed vessels. The circumstances around us -- our social norms and institutions -- can be structured to bring out our worst natures or our best. We can invite Isaac Asimov to our cons to deliver a lecture on "The Power of Posterior Pinching" in which he literally advises men on how to grope the women in attendance, or we can create and enforce a Code of Conduct that would bounce anyone, up to and including the Con Chair and the Guest of Honor, who tried a stunt like that.
We, collectively, through our norms and institutions, create the circumstances that favor sociopathy or generosity. Sweeping bad conduct under the rug isn't just cruel to the people who were victimized by that conduct: it's also a disservice to the flawed vessels who are struggling with their own contradictions and base urges. Create an environment where it's normal to do things that -- in 10 or 20 years -- will result in your expulsion from your community is not a kindness to anyone.
There are shitty dudes out there today whose path to shitty dudehood got started when they watched Isaac Asimov deliver a tutorial on how to grope women without their consent and figured that the chuckling approval of all their peers meant that whatever doubts the might have had were probably misplaced. Those dudes don't get a pass because they learned from a bad example set by their community and its leaders -- but they might have been diverted from their path to shitty dudehood if they'd had better examples. They might not have scarred and hurt countless women on their way from the larval stage of shittiness to full-blown shitlord, and they themselves might have been spared their eventual fate, of being disliked and excluded from a community they joined in search of comradeship and mutual aid. The friends of those shitty dudes might not have to wrestle with their role in enabling the harm those shitty dudes wrought.
Jeannette Ng's speech was exactly the speech our field needs to hear. And the fact that she devoted the bulk of it to solidarity with the Hong Kong protesters is especially significant, because of the growing importance of Chinese audiences and fandom in sf, which exposes writers to potential career retaliation from an important translation market. There is a group of (excellent, devoted) Chinese fans who have been making noises about a Chinese Worldcon for years, and speeches like Ng's have to make you wonder: if that ever comes to pass, will she be able to get a visa to attend?
Back when the misogynist/white supremacist wing of SF started to publicly organize to purge the field of the wrong kind of fan and the wrong kind of writer, they were talking about people like Ng. I think that this is ample evidence that she is in exactly the right place, at the right time, saying the right thing.
