gay fish quilt!!! made with a single 42-count Kaffe Fassett charm pack and three thrift store bedsheets. the quilt top was zig-zag stitched to the blue sheet, then sandwiched with batting and a black sheet for the backing and the simple rolled hem, which was stitched with one straight stitch and one zig-zag for very stylish corners. the fish are quilted down along the outer seams.
each fish took two patterned squares, one for the body and one for the fins and tail.

it was a fast and fun no-stress quilt that really shows off gorgeous prints to advantage, and i might try this pattern again!

Oven mitts! 3 prints from a kaffe facett (sp?) charm pack. Both mitts are dark blue on the palm side and flower-print on the outside with quilting and heatproof batting. Pattern is designed perfectly for fat quarters, and I just so happened to have a half yard of the matching fabric for the lining (binding fabric leftover from a block of the month quilt my gram made). Honestly next time I may do another layer of batting, these aren’t all that thick. And next time I’ll try a technique to hide the seams: right now there are raw edges inside.
I’m moving into a new, beautiful space and my roommate asked if I had oven mitts. I thought it would make a sweet housewarming gift.

Hey, I just saw your post about inexpensive shot cotton, I was wondering if you had any links to drop 👀👀👀 there’s a few fabrics I wouldn’t mind getting in a shot color style
Oh, absolutely! The ones I was referencing are a line of shot cottons from Kaffe Fassett, so searching for “Kaffe Fassett shot cotton” should get you lots of places to buy from, however, I have noticed that some of them have very inaccurate color in their swatch photos. I think it’s just a nature of the fabric that it’s hard to photograph, even taking pictures myself of my finished things has been troublesome.
I’ve been buying mine here and having a great experience, and have found the photos to be accurate: https://www.hawthornesupplyco.com/search-results?search_text=kaffe%20fassett%20shot%20cotton There’s some stripes that come up at the top of that search, and below them are solids, which are the ones I’ve been using.

I love this quilt! Such a good way to use those Kaffe Fassett fabrics, which I love but also are so much I sometimes have difficulty getting them to work with other fabrics

a quilt i was hesitant to post 😅 i made the top over a year ago and i just feel it isn't reflective of my current skill level. i definitely learned a lot of things with this one. but i really like the final look of it so 🫡
#other people's art#quilting#if it is not kaffe fassett fabric oops lol#those cacti and irregular dots make me think it is though#anyway your quilt is fantastic and your distribution of colors is impeccable#do you have a link to the pattern you used? or if you did not use a pattern do you know how much yardage you used for the solid color?

As per my previous post on the beginner's guide to crochet here is another great and legendary pattern book for intermediate knitting that was also kindly uploaded to the beloved internet archive:
the patterns are considered vintage but nevertheless incredible and I highly suggest that anyone who is looking to up their knitting game should try these patterns out. This book was obviously revolutionary for it's time and the author is an experienced pattern maker and designer

FINALLY. I can share these beautiful quilts that I made for friends as Christmas presents this past year. These are only the tops themselves, as I forgot to take finished product pics, but they are wonderful all the same!
First up we got spacey stars on galaxy background:

Purple and Green floral prints with goose tracks pattern (this one had borders but again, I forgot to take pics of it):

Next are some classic 1930's reprints:

This pink and blue quilt:

And finally this carpenter's star using Kaffe colors:

I also had my mom help embroider a little logo on the back of each quilt and I had tons of fun doing this project.

I used (and for some did my own variation of) the Missouri Star Quilt Company's tutorials for each of these quilts. Those ladies really know their stuff! It will be a long, LONG time before I try doing so many of them at once though lol!
My friends told me that they all love their quilts, one of which almost fell asleep under it during the party, which made me a little teary eyed in a happy way
#quilting#quilt tops#I'm gonna make some more posts detailing the other projects I worked on last year as well I just wanted the Christmas gifts to be together#quilt#my quilts

Camp Krell - chapter 1, part 2
So I ran.
I kept running, for whatever this sick snake-monster thing was wanted to toy with me, wanted to chase me. To play with my life, like I was some pet to it. I broke through the tree-line into camp, panting as I fell onto the paved ground that cut a clear line between camp Krell and the Krellden woods… directly at the feet of my best friend Kaffeyne. She took one glance at my disheveled state and picked me up, dragging me back to our cabin. Terrifying. I mean, I was already shaken up by that whole chase, and now my usually bubbly best friend was bandaging wounds I didn’t even know I had with a silent glare on her face?
We sat in silence for what felt like hours, though likely it was just a few minutes, and my mind was messing with me, still scared out of my mind from the encounter in the forests. “Why did you accept the dare?” Her soft voice snapped me out of my dazed zone out.
“Huh?”
“The dare. Why the hell did you let Elaine provoke you like that? The Krell nearly killed your stupid ass from what I see!”
“What the hell is the Krell...? Wait… what do you mean ‘from what I can see, Kaff?” She didn’t respond. She just picked up her makeup bag and handed me a small mirror. What I saw nearly made me throw up then and there. Actually, I might have thrown up, those few moments are still hazy. Around my neck was a sickly green mark, spanning over my skin in every spot the creature had touched. It held a distinct pattern that looked so much like scales, but reaching up, as I placed my hand on it, I still felt my skin. I know I definitely threw up then.
I don’t know how long it took me to recover from seeing that stain on my skin. Kaffeyne was kind enough to cover up the cabin’s mirrors so I wouldn’t have to see it again, but it still jarred me. This woodland monster - which Kaff had told me was called the Krell - left permanent stains on its victims? So, everyone could see the mark? I was quickly devolving into a panic as to how I could cover this mark without looking like ‘the idiot in a turtleneck at a summer camp’. Once again, my best friend was the one to snap me from my panic. She seemed to be doing that a lot…
“Hey, stop panicking idiot. The only people who can see the mark are others who’ve survived being touched by the Krell too. You don’t have to bust out the scarves just yet.”
Her words brought me both comfort and confusion. If only the Krell’s surviving victims could see the mark, that meant…
“You’ve faced it too?”
“Yeah no shit Sherlock, you remember the year I left camp early? I was hospitalised from my encounter with the Krell. That’s why I’ve been trying to keep you and everyone else at camp away from the forest, dumbass!”
“Then… where’s your mark..? It’s totally fine if you don’t want to share, I just…”
“It’s fine, it’s on my hands. I kind of… well, I may or may not have punched it very hard to get away..?”
“Kaffeyne, have I told you how much you scare me sometimes?”
“You can’t blame me Tamashi, fight or flight reactions and all that.”
“Kaff, there’s a difference between ‘fight or flight’ and literally punching the demonic entity trying to kill you!”
“Says the one who willingly took the dare to go directly into the Krell’s territory!”
“It was either me or you, Kaffeyne! I did it so I wouldn’t lose you again!”
She fell silent at my outburst.
“I saw how hurt you were when they found you at the edge of the woods. It hurt me far worse than any of these stupid cuts and bruises I got from that… thing to witness the person I care about most injured. And I’d do it again in a heartbeat if it meant you were unharmed.”

Craft Schedule 2024: July Edition
June: I only-barely didn't finish the Souffle; I can't remember if I'd found the issue with the sleeve (knit it way too short) last update but anyway Yeah. I finished one sleeve, recorded a podcast, tried on the shirt, found out the sleeve was too short, had to pull the cuff back, and then knit like a ton more sleeve.
I recorded a podcast, as above, and then really struggled with getting editing software to work and THEN realised there was a super annoying background noise and decided to just give the episode up as a loss and try again this month. A pattern review of the Souffle will come tomorrow I hope.
July: I finished the Souffle July 3. I love it. It is excellent. All is forgiven in re: it taking two months to knit. I also started the Let's Picnic but I HATED the swatch because my fibre choice was bad. In my own defence I'm working through a BUNCH of cotton yarn my mum gave me so I'm not making the same choices I would otherwise have made. I also, in June, pulled back the Tolsta I was making because I had followed the vanilla 4ply instructions and the F-cup 4ply instructions essentially started from scratch and I didn't want to compare all the numbers when I was only just past the short rows anyway.
Thus begins the saga of the new tolsta. So I took the yarn for Let's Picnic and began a DK weight F-cup Tolsta.
Issue one: I made a tiny gauge swatch and got confused, thinking I needed to significantly go down sizes.
Issue 2: I significantly went down sizes and cast on the collar. Loved the texture, but something seemed strange. Realised that I had got confused on Issue 1 and now instead was working at the 4ply gauge with DK numbers.
Joy 1: Tried on the collar and loved it. It fit exactly how I wanted, much closer to the neck than in pattern. Decided to stick to my guns and knit the 4ply numbers with DK yarn.
Fix 1: I increased some stitches to get to the correct 4ply numbers. This ended up being in a less than ideal spot because of when I realised the issues, but is working okay.
Issue 3 (forseen): The pattern goes up to an F cup, which is great, but is nowhere near my proportions. I did some comparing and thinking before casting on, and decided to, essentially, knit the back and sleeves following the size that corresponded to my upper chest measurement, and then knit the front according to the size that would fit my full chest.
I ended up adding an extra two stitches to the back as well, just because when I added the back width for size 4 to the front for size 5, it had a tiny smidge more negative ease than I wanted. As I've figured it, I will end up with a total full chest circumference of 49.5 inches, which is negative ease of 0.5 inches.
For reference, the vanilla tolsta size for my upper chest measurement (that is to say, assuming a full chest of 42") is size 4, for a chest circumference of 43.25 inches. The vanilla tolsta size if I went by my actual full chest would be size 6, for a chest circumference of 51.25 inches.
The F-cup size, according to my upper chest measurement (assuming a full chest of 46 inches) is size 4, for a full chest of 47.25. The F-cup size based on my full chest is size 5, for a circumference of 51.25 inches.
I could have gone for a F-cup size 5 and been done with it, but I felt that the fit around my back and shoulders might be kind of loose, and I wanted a size with as close to no ease as I could get, as I hear cotton yarn grows over time.
I'm almost at the end of the yoke now and to be honest I'm a little worried I might run out of yarn, but I'm quite short so maybe it will be fine??
I also FINALLY finished the binding on the Kaffe Fasset quilt, so that is DONE!!!
August plans: Finish the Tolsta! Do the Luce Trousers! Start bigfoot!!

I went to the quilt show and had a blast. Zero shopping, but I entered a couple drawings and will be joining the local quilt guild. They meet in a church, but my therapist has been urging me to join so as to work through my trauma (if you must know, ask after spending at least $5 USD in my shop or donating to my ko-fi). and make friends.
I saw fabrics from designers I immediately recognized, including my fav (Tim Holtz), as well as quilt patterns I recognize. Several quilts were displayed in the local quilt shops, and I knew those right away!
Prepare for an onslaught of pictures. You have been warned. I went in with a fully charged phone. Left with it at 55% and around...400 pictures. Half are quilts, half are info on said quilts. Soooooo much eye candy. There were some I found hideous, and most of those were Kaffe prints, and that brand just...no. I do not like.

In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, a dishwasher isn’t a luxury anymore — it’s a kitchen essential. With the ability to clean greasy Indian utensils and remove stubborn masala stains, dishwashers have evolved into powerful, hygienic, and time-saving appliances.
At Kitchen Brand Store, we bring you this 2023 Dishwasher Buying Guide to help you pick the best model based on your space, family size, and usage patterns.
Why Should You Buy a Dishwasher?
Save Time & Effort
Say goodbye to hand scrubbing. Just load, run, and relax. Dishwashers can save you over 30 minutes a day, giving you more time for what matters.
Water Efficient
Contrary to popular belief, dishwashers use up to 70% less water than handwashing. A great eco-friendly and pocket-friendly solution!
Spotless Cleaning
Dishwasher detergents are specially formulated to tackle grease, stains, and odours better than handwashing. Plus, high-temperature washes ensure sparkling clean dishes every time.
Hygienic Washing
Dishwashers operate at temperatures as high as 70°C, killing harmful bacteria and ensuring your utensils are safe and sanitized.
Things to Consider Before Buying a Dishwasher
Capacity
Larger dishwashers not only handle more dishes but also come with adjustable racks and trays for better convenience.
Types of Dishwashers
Built-in Dishwasher
Installed under kitchen counters.
Most common and suitable for permanent homes.
Sizes: 17–24 inches wide, 22–28 inches deep.
Portable Dishwasher
On wheels – perfect for renters and small kitchens.
Connect to the sink when in use.
No permanent installation needed.
Countertop Dishwasher
Small, compact, fits on the kitchen counter.
Ideal for small families or bachelors.
Easy faucet connection and energy-efficient.
Features You Must Look For
Cleaning Performance
Dishwashers should handle Indian-style greasy and masaledar utensils like kadhai, patila, and pressure cookers.
Look for custom wash programs for heavy loads and oil stains.
Noise Levels
Premium dishwashers operate at 40–50 dB, making them virtually silent.
Budget models may run at 50–60 dB but are still manageable in most homes.
Energy Efficiency
Go for Energy Star certified models.
These save up to 14,000 liters of water per year and reduce your electricity bill significantly.
Sensor Technology
Auto sensors detect dirt level and adjust cycle time, water pressure, and temperature automatically.
Wash Cycles
Choose a dishwasher with varied cycles like:
Normal
Heavy Duty
Eco Mode
Quick Wash
Intensive for Indian cooking residue
Detergent Use
Always use dishwasher-specific detergent – regular handwash liquids create foam that can damage the machine.
Performance, Racks & Stackability
Look for multiple spray levels and 360° rotating arms.
Two or three racks help manage all utensils, including large cookware.
Always opt for brands offering a minimum of 3 to 6 years warranty for peace of mind.
Dishwasher Maintenance Tips
Clean filters weekly to prevent clogs.
Wipe seals and doors to avoid grime buildup.
Descale once a month if you live in a hard-water area.
Use dishwasher salt, not table salt, for maintaining water softness.

Florence
Florence (close up 2)Florence (close up 1)Florence (back)Florence (front) Bright red Kaffe fabrics look fabulous in this double star pattern. Green quilting thread gave this just enough contrast so that the quilting would show on the reds piecing fabrics, blue border fabric and the white background fabric. Spectacular.
