Brett Anderson does have a set of his peculiar points he does discuss from Suede on, his soundscapes follow that. However, Slow Attack was his attempt to broaden his sound and I regret he didn't achieve more of that in his solo career. Then again, Suede remained a strong signature connected with his name – that might be one of the reasons their reunion happened –, but we mustn't forget his group continues to be one of the more interesting ones in the style they established. Thus, Slow Attack shows the ethos of what the collective was at one point, until the hype of the their genre's usurpers delegated them to also-rans. Nonetheless, this is not a showy record, Anderson also gained a lot of patience on his own.

Which couple elopes in your modern AU?
What is Violets reaction?
Technically speaking, none of them. But...
Anthony & Kate, Colin & Penelope, and Daphne & Simon all have nice, traditional society weddings.
They're big, but not excessively so. Tasteful. With Daphne being Violet's first to get married and Anthony being the oldest, they would never get out of doing big society affairs. And Colin & Penelope kind of like the spectacle of it all. Plus, Penelope's mother would never pass-up the opportunity to show off the family's new connection to the Bridgertons.
Benedict & Sophie and Francesca & John/Michael have small affairs.
Benedict & Sophie don't want to wait to do a full society affair. And besides, Sophie doesn't have any family or really that many friends doesn't know that many people, and Benedict doesn't want her to feel uncomfortable at her own wedding.
Francesca & John are just out of college, so its a respectably sized event, but nothing huge. When Francesca & Michael get married, they decide they don't want to make a huge deal of it, but still want to do something special, so they have everyone fly out to Cabo and do a beach ceremony.
Eloise & Phillip and Gregory & Lucy come the closest to eloping.
Eloise & Phillip have been living together for awhile, and one day decide they should just make it official. They set a date for a courthouse wedding, and inform the family. Anyone who can make it up is welcome to be there, but they aren't changing the date.
Gregory & Lucy go to the court house not long after the whole "crashing Lucy's first wedding" incident. They decide that a full wedding so close to the incident is probably in poor taste, but they don't want to wait. Like Eloise & Phillip, they tell people they're going, though that message may have gone out the morning they went to the courthouse...
Hyacinth & Gareth go BIG.
There are big society weddings. And then there's Hyacinth & Gareth's wedding. With both Bridgerton and Danbury money going into the event, and Hyacinth's personality making decisions, it's an over-the-top event that people are talking about for years. The bride and groom have multiple outfit changes. The reception goes for hours. The couple and their friends go bar hopping until 4 AM.
The weddings don't really matter to Violet, as long as her children are all happy.

They should really do side quest seasons of the Bridgerton couples in between each major season.
JQ gave us the epilogue chapters in the books so how about epilogue seasons/episodes.
Anthony/Kate and Baby Edmund in India
Daphne/Simon ruling society events alongside Lady Danbury and Violet
Benedict/Sophie at My Cottage
Colin/Penelope traveling? Writing books
Currently Eloise in Scotland with Francesa and John
Hyacinth and Gregory popping into their siblings homes, Pall Mall tournaments, next generation babies.
Then after all the major seasons give us a season of the epilogue chapters from the books

Y'all ready for Bridgerton sexualities? Cuz here we go (these are modern day hcs btw if that wasn't obvious)
Anthony: straight with a capital S (somehow) and cis. He takes a second to understand his queer siblings because of ingrained bias but after a while is supportive. At which point he goes into overdrive and buys them pride flag everything.
Kate: bisexual and cis. I can't explain it but she's definitely thought of kissing a girl. Anthony didn't find out until after they were married because she didn't feel like it was something she had to broadcast.
Edwina: sapphic and a demi-girl. I don't know where she is on the fruity spectrum, I just know she's into guys and girls.
Benedict: Pan (obviously) and cis. This is canon.
Sophie: straight and cis, but thought about experimenting at some point.
Posy: bisexual and cis. It's a vibe that I can't let go of.
Colin: straight demisexual and cis. This might as well be canon.
Penelope: pansexual demi-girl. It's a feeling. Thinks it would be funny to come out in a chaotic way (think her engagement announcement in the show).
Felicity: she's *something*.
Phillipa: pansexual and probably some type of genderqueer. Not out because she's not sure how her family would take it. Is considering telling Penelope and Felicity tho. Finch knows because they don't keep secrets.
Albion: straight but definitely genderqueer. He was so excited when he realized they matched due to not being cis. They had a very nice charcuterie in celebration when she came out to him.
Prudence: I wanna say lesbian who's attracted to non-binary people as well (I know some of them identify as a sub category of bisexuality so I wanted to clarify) but cis gender. Also closeted, out to her spouse.
Dankworth: some kind of fruity and definitely genderqueer, probably more in the non-binary persuasion than anything close to the binaries. He's deffo androgynous and they use basically all pronouns. Very supportive when her wife came out.
Daphne: I mean, she's probably bisexual, right? And definitely cis (I'm not willing to give up her eldest daughter trauma for trans!femme Daphne. As awesome as she would be). Is just vibing tbh.
Simon: straight and cis, but extremely supportive. Offers a safe space for all the queer youth he knows that aren't supported or wouldn't be supported by their families.
Lady Danbury: also something. Is unlabelabled.
Eloise: she's either straight or pansexual, who knows at this point? And still figuring out her gender. If she's genderqueer she's probably Demi. She is insufferable about queer rights regardless and everyone else is tired. They're all for it but making it her whole personality in her teenage years is certainly a choice she made. She mellowed out as an adult and realized it's okay to have a life outside of her political causes, partially because of her best friend and later her husband. She's still passionate about queer rights but in a way that won't eventually burn her out.
Philip: straight trans man. Didn't realize he was trans until he was well into adulthood and it took corresponding with Eloise to be able to embrace it. They are very in love and almost kind of obsessed with each other. They like yapping about their passions to each other at all times of the day. They both find this equally hot (for their spouse actually listening) and absolutely endearing (when their spouse is the one yapping).
George & Marina: straight cis.
Francesca: bisexual cis gender. She's so quiet it took her bringing home a wife before anyone realized she was queer.
Michael/Michaela: pansexual cisgender. Do I need to explain?
John: bisexual demi-boy. It's just his vibe I can't explain it.
Gregory: pansexual either cis or demi-boy I have no idea.
Lucy: bisexual cis. She's too busy pumping out kids and enjoying it to be genderqueer.
Don't know enough about otwttw to say anything about the other characters.
Hyacinth: bisexual and has transcended the gender binary.
Gareth: I mean, from what I know of him he and Hya sound bi4bi. Transmasc transfemme???? Who knows.
What do y'all think?

Rewritting of Bridgertons
First of I want to say that it is in no way me bashing Julia Quinn. She has wrote a popular book series that she managed to put on the screen and for that she deserves alot of respect.
BUT
The books are a hot messes for many, many, many reasons, the three last one are ok but still quite questionable.
(I am obviously in no way claiming to be a better writter or that what I'll do will be good but I decided to rewrite and change what I didn't like and what I think could do better. )
Important information about this rewrite :
As I had hard time with honestly any of the love interest, ESPECIALLY, the boys one (with the exception of my boy Gregory, you were boring but cute) and that I felt like the women character had honestly a waste of potential I will change all of them a LOT. I will also rant about why I didn't like them in the first place.
As the books are so messy I also consider the series as canon and I have a lot of confusion about the way the society and great experiments was done ?! Like honestly WASTED potential.
This will NOT be historically accurate my dear friends purely fictional as I'll state multiple time.

8000 Years Of Mysogeny
Tumblr media
I’ve given up worrying about the existence of God.  Discussions about diety I leave to the young. After decades spent thinking about the inscrutable, all I gleaned from religious precept was that misogyny rises from it like a noxious odor.  I’m not alone in this opinion. Donna Nolan Fewell, a scholar of the Old Testament writes, The Bible, for the most part, is an alien text (to women), not written by women or with women in mind. Christopher Hutchins cast a withering eye on the Scriptures, as well, and arrived at an ancillary conclusion. The cure for poverty has a name; it’s called THE EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN.  Now, name me a religion that stands, or ever stood for that. Feminist writer Barbara G. Walker also added to my knowledge.  She pointed out that Thomas Aquinas and St. Augustine held grudges against women and that holy father John Scotus Eriuge made men the following promise. ..when the heavens finally open in glory, women will be eliminated. (“Does Religion Make People Kind, Generous?” by Barbara G. Walker, FreeThought Today, March/April. pg. 14.) A prediction like that makes God irrelevant to the future of womankind and raises a question.  If the weaker sex is to be barred from heaven, why can’t men be more charitable to them on earth? So far, the patriarchal doctrine has done nothing except insist that women are inferior creatures unworthy of simple justice Honor killings are an example. That a woman who has been raped should pay with her life while her attacker goes free is perverse.  What’s more, the myth that sustains it is absurd.  Reason balks at the suggestion that all women should be punished because one plucked an apple from its branch. In Western societies, Honor killings aren’t prevalent, but other injustices prevail. The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is a heinous example.  No longer allowed to control their bodies, women in the United States have been returned to the status of chattel. After 8,000 years of brainwashing, it’s not surprising that many women have accepted their inferiority, helped by Judas Goats who betray their sisters for a smattering of patriarchal privileges.  Phyllis Schlafly, an attorney in the 1960s, is an example.  She railed against the Women’s Movement and warned equality was the enemy of domesticity.       Amy Coney Barrett, U. S. Supreme Court Justice, appears to follow in Schlafly’s footsteps. Her religious conviction that a husband is his wife’s master made her vote to overturn Roe v. Wade inevitable. Katie Britt, U.S. Senator from Alabama, may be another of their ilk. That she chose to deliver the Republican response to Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address from her kitchen is noteworthy.  My comments about these women may seem unfair. Nonetheless, I’ll wager none of them found the time to make biscuits from scratch. If they are or were to be blind to their hypocritical positions, I must blame 8,000 years of patriarchy.     Masculine paranoia predates the Women’s Movement, so I’m inclined to question the conclusion of a 2024 study laying blame for misogyny at women’s feet. If true, the cause and effect is unclear to me. Why should a woman’s desire for equality disconnect men from society and send them into private lives of underachievement, underemployment, online addiction, and white supremacy?   I propose we search for masculine hostility within the male psyche. At the subliminal level, is it possible men doubt their superiority or harbor the fear that nature favors women? Consider this solitary fact as evidence. The male-defining Y chromosome is disappearing. The fault has nothing to do with women. It lies within the human genome.  The female X chromosome reproduces through genetic recombination, but the Y chromosome uses a cut-and-paste procedure. The latter is inferior to recombination because it produces errors that cannot be corrected.  Over time, these flaws accumulate so that, according to scientists, within another 4.6 billion years women will find themselves alone in the universe.  Let me hasten to assure my male friends that neither I nor a majority of women rejoice in that outcome. Nonetheless,  nature is experimenting with unisex reproduction. Enter the Japanese spiny rat, the first among mammals to shed its Y chromosome yet continue to procreate.       And so, my male cohorts, given your prospects for the future, it’s time to consider the olive branch.  Women are willing to forgive 8000 years of neglect if over the next 4.6 million years you join us in peace.  Together we can confront a deaf, dumb, and blind universe confident that we are unique because we know how to love. If any man doubts the generosity of this offer, let them remember this.  A woman’s voice is the first sound a child hears in the womb. At the closing, a woman’s tears may be the last sound a man hears.
