Can we please not gatekeep what counts as a shipfic worthy of equal treatment in a ship community based on standards from purity culture?

Repeat after me:

a pairing engaging in consensual non-monogamy does not automatically make it a polyfic/multi-pairing fic

a pairing character engaging in casual sex with a third character does not automatically make it a polyfic/multi-pairing fic

a pairing engaging in non-consensual non-monogamy does not automatically make it a polyfic/multi-pairing fic

a pairing character having an additional monogamous sexual relationship does not automatically make it a polyfic/multi-pairing fic

a pairing or character engaging in a bdsm scene with a third character does not automatically make it a polyfic/multi-pairing fic

a character engaging in sex work does not make it a polyfic/multi-pairing fic

Could some of these situations make it a multi-pairing or polyship fic? Yes, they could in the right context, depending on the content of the fic. But does the existence of any sexual interaction with characters outside of the central pairing during the course of the fic, regardless of the context, the fic's relationship focus and endgame pairing, or the percentage of secondary-interaction content automatically stop it from being a "true" shipfic? NO!

Does it mean any fics including such content on-page, regardless of the situation or amount, deserve less opportunity and recognition because "some people might not want to read their OTP having sex with others"? NO!

Please, for the love of fandom, don't let people who can't handle even a glimpse of sex outside of traditional cishet monogamy define what "counts" as a shipfic/polyfic/multi-ship fic. AO3 tags exist for a reason! So does "don't like, don't read"!

Please, community owners/mods, consider the message you are sending about who belongs and what fanworks have value when you make rules and give preferential treatment based on standards of purity culture.

Something I've noticed in fandom is that when a Black person comes out to talk about the racism they've experienced or are experiencing, most of the time they're told to block and move on and keep creating to spite the haters. I don't necessarily disagree with this sentiment, I'm all for curating your online space, but I rarely, if ever, see people really call out the people being racist? They get some push back like a callout post or two, but a majority of the time it blows over and they're usually still active and, often, more popular than before.

I'm sure no one ever says to block and keep going to be malicious, and maybe this is me being a bit jaded, but having been on the receiving end of fandom racism and its particular brand of awfulness, being told to "just keep creating" felt so...dismissive? I felt traumatized and hurt and sad and angry, I didn't feel like going back to drawing fanart.

It felt unfair that I had to live with this experience and process it and go back to posting while they still get to be out there being racist with little to no repercussions. It feels unfair seeing other Black creators talk about their similar experiences and having that response be "so sorry that happened, but please keep making art/fics/etc for us!" from nonblack people.

And, again, I don't necessarily think it's coming from a bad place. I just wish nonblack people were more mindful of how this effects us and would put more of that energy into not only making a safer space for Black people, but making it an unwelcome place for racists. Do I think that'll happen? No, because as long as someone can draw or write something white people like, they can get away with anything. But I can hope.

You are not alone in this experience, and I'm sorry that you had to have it at all.

I feel the same way, fr. I'm jaded to it, but not enough for it to not cause resentment. It burns me deep inside that there are people who are or have been openly antiblack, to me and in general (fandom and non), and they get to continue on like shits okay and they're "so cool".

You'll see posts from "supportive allies" saying "oh don't stop creating, you're welcome here! I like Black people!" But they're nowhere in sight when it's time to actually defend you from the racism that makes you want to leave 😐. No one's willing to give up their comfort, to give up the shield of the status quo to actually be an ally. "Tumblr's for entertainment" yeah and apparently a lot of people are entertained by racism 😅

Like... 👀👀👀 So you were all talk lol. You want me to stay and feel valued because I create and you're entertained, not because you actually value me as a human. It's a avocado! Thaaaaaanks. I always say it's the thought that counts but the action that delivers. Nobody knows that you "aren't racist" in your head or through empty words. We make that judgment based off your actions.

And a lot of people's actions speak of complicity, unfortunately. It's easier to tell you as the victim to block and move on than it is to take that next step and say "damn, I guess I can't be such and such's friend anymore". It's easier to deny outright that something is racist (because if that thing is racist, and they like it, then- EGADS-) then to realize that "hey, I need to be more open to engaging with this in a more inclusive way". Fandoms not a vacuum, unfortunately.

And as of May 1, 2025, the official soundtrack lineup was revealed, featuring global icons such as RAYE, Ed Sheeran, Doja Cat, and the industry’s elite—BLACKPINK’s Rosé and ENHYPEN’s very own Lee Heran.

While Rosé’s continued rise in the U.S. charts makes her presence a welcomed expectation, Heran’s inclusion has sparked its own buzz. Why? Because if there’s one thing the 21-year-old is known for outside of her sharp vocals and genre-bending artistry—it’s her undying, unapologetic love for sports.

From her sporty-chic airport fashion to her spontaneous race-day live tweets and signature football jerseys in casual wear, Heran has steadily built a reputation as K-pop’s ultimate sports girlie. Her fans have long dubbed her “the industry’s most successful fangirl”—and this moment solidifies it.

In fact, this isn’t her first brush with a crossover between fandom and opportunity. One of her most iconic moments to date came in 2022 during the final round of the EAFF E-1 Football Championship hosted in Japan. Her track for the film, titled “Just Keep Watching,” is said to blend synthwave elements with pulsing alt-pop production—staying in line with the “Sports Car” motif that dominated Leak This! Both thematically and sonically, it promises to match the high-speed adrenaline of the racetrack.

I’ve been laughing about this whole topic since yesterday not because it’s funny, it’s absolutely not, but because it’s fucking ridiculous that we are giving history lessons on racism and the people who have been calling this shit out for months are right and have been right despite the constant gaslighting.

Do you know how crazy it is to be a non-American 40 year old conscious human being and intentionally use racist & violent American imagery in a fic for an incredibly minuscule character played by a Latino man of color who’s the child of political refugees? Do you know how crazy it is to also have a reader-insert acknowledge the confederate flag, and still fuck the person that hangs it in their space? Like do y’all see how fucking crazy that shit is? It’s insane just typing that out. When I said y’all move like the feds in this fandom preaching about inclusion & community in one breath while doing the very thing that jeopardizes and harms those that are excluded from said “community”, I meant that shit, and I was right.

As much as we like to deny it, writers have their own motivations and intentions for creating and sharing the projects that they do. If you as a writer actively choose to add racist themes in your writing to intentionally make a character problematic, it’s a reflection of who you are, because you didn’t need to do that and yet you still decided to do it anyway. Would you as black American want to read a fic where the reader insert fucks a racist? No. Then why do you as a white person, especially a non-American, think it’s okay to do the same? Would you fuck a racist? By the way some of y’all keep dismissing the intentions, that’s up for debate because a lot of y’all would rather fetishize the shit out of that man than have a lick of common sense.

If you really are a “brilliant” writer and person, you’d practice what you fucking preached and wouldn’t need to add racism in your fics when we have enough of that shit in real life. Instead, all you are is a coward, a hypocrite, and a loser and that’s all there is to it. This goes beyond fandom and community, this is real life. And if you have a problem with BIPOC individuals in particular talking about this and setting y’all straight, I suggest shutting the fuck up and opening your ears since you’re not gonna fix your mouths to be the allies and advocates y’all say you are. 🤷‍♀️

While we’re in Latino Heritage Month, let’s stop assuming your reader doesn’t know/speak Spanish in your reader insert fics. Especially if you’re writing for Pedro’s, Oscar’s or other Latino characters please.

EDIT: After some criticism of how this was originally phrased, let me change it into a question/request instead- Can we as writers please try to be more inclusive with our reader insert fics so poc and others can feel represented and see themselves too? Including taking out a quick throwaway line about reader not understanding Spanish. (Keeping the original phrasing above so anyone who missed the post to begin with can still see how I originally phrased it)

If you have a throwaway line of “he said in Spanish that you didn’t understand” or something similar, just take it out. Have something like “you didn’t hear” instead and let the reader interpret how they want. Or use italics to indicate Spanish. Or have the translation right there without mention of anyone translating for them. Simple. Or if you don’t want to/feel you cannot change it, then please have something in with your warnings so Latinos/poc can skip it if they choose.

And let me tell you why this is so frustrating (even for me as someone who is not a fluent speaker). It’s because Latinos look to these characters and actors for representation. We see ourselves in them. And when you clearly do not have a Latino person in mind when writing, you’re saying we don’t belong here. In a space where we should feel welcomed and celebrated. Representation matters. Inclusivity matters. Please try to be more inclusive with reader fics so we can all enjoy and immerse ourselves in your writing.

ALSO EDITING TO ADD MORE FROM A REBLOG SO EVERYONE CAN SEE MY CLARIFICATION: (under a cut for length)

This is nothing new, poc have been asking for years now to be inclusive in fics and yet it’s still a battle. We’re not asking for a lot, and certainly not asking anyone to change their style or creativity or anything like that. Literally simple edits: take out the word “blush” don’t mention hair, don’t mention not understanding Spanish, not making reader blood related to a white character, etc. Literally tiny things that would not change the story at all but make a world of difference.

Here’s an example too: a few years ago it was not common for writers to label the gender of their reader as it was usually assumed the reader would be a woman. But, people advocated to label readers as f/m/gn/whatever to be more inclusive and asked writers to strive for gender neutral readers when possible so that more readers felt seen and welcome. Now it’s a common thing to do. Why is making the readers race ambiguous any different?

Yes sometimes posts like this come across harsh, but know that they’re not meant to be. Poc aren’t trying to demand anything, we just ask to broaden your langauge when writing reader insert so more can see themselves in your work. It’s incredibly frustrating to ask for inclusivity and be met with hostility and rudeness in return and a refusal to think about poc so yes sometimes the wording gets harsh out of that frustration. But I encourage y’all to focus on the message more and maybe think about why poc in fandom get snippy like this. We do need to have an open conversation, yes. Just look in the comments at the Latinos and poc who are upset by the exclusion and feel hurt by it. How you you white fans feel if roles were reversed and none of the fics included you? Not fun, right?

And to those who say write it yourself: I do. I’ve been a x reader writer for years now and I do strive for inclusivity in my work. But I’m only one person and this is bigger than any one person. This isn’t about what I personally find acceptable or what I personally what. It should be a collective effort among writers as a whole to strive to include as many as possible in their works and not white code your readers. It’s not about demanding writers write it a certain way, it’s about asking writers to consider others who don’t look like them who also want the immersion and the escape that your fic brings.

My birthday happens to fall the day before Walpurgis Night. Where I'm from we celebrate with friends, watching bonfires, listening to choirs and getting absolutely shitfaced. So we're going to combine that with the myth and folklore of Walpurgis Night and have ourselves a creation celebration! he'd stand and sway gently in your nursery/bedroom, bathed in gentle sunlight and humming steadily in that low register of his, present and nurturing and so full of adoring love for you. he'd lay with you in your crib - and when you came of age, your bed - and you guys would nap and snuggle the day away without a care in the world. he'd make cute little noises and just do.. tiny little gestures that never failed to put a smile on your face. & in turn that'd make him smile too !!

and when you're older and are just off, doing your own thing around the house, he'll be magnetized to you and just ... come sit/lay/cuddle near you to stroke your head, play with your hair, gently scratch at your arm or back. like he just finds comfort in you and loves you sm :(( sometimes no words are exchanged, just gentle glances and even gentler gestures. all the tenderness that only a loving parent could have for their child.

in terms of scolding, I imagine he's ... not the bestest at it ='] mostly due in part to his tender heart and sensitive nature, he just can't find it in him to scold you too harshly if you're being especially stubborn & when it comes to punishments he leaves it up to the others for the most part but, in all honesty, it does not mean he's incapable of disciplining you at all.

(*´ω｀*) the sweetest most delicious treats in the entire world !!!!! cookies, brownieeesss, cupcakes, bundts, muffins, sweet bread, whatever your heart desires he's making it all! when you come home from school & he's not already greeting you in the kitchen, there's a small wicker basket - custom made especially for you - that he diligently keeps filled with yummy homemade baked goods for you to enjoy :(

+ & if you're not a big fan of sweets he will absolutely bake you any other yummy treats you'd want to try instead!! umami, savory, salty - he's particularly adept. all you gotta do is ask and he is hightailing it to the kitchen to whip his little chocolate chip whatsoever their heart desires.

nothing can compare to your fifi's baking & that's a hill you (along with many others) are willing to die on. they're almost as sweet as he is =") !!

he is ... so so gentle with you? like, devastatingly so. he's the most open with his affection for you and constantly shows it, primarily via positive physical touch (hugs and cuddles, kisses, massages, playing with your hair or simply rubbing your head if you don't have any/it's too short/u just don't want your hair to be played with 😭) but he shows it in other ways too.

he's patient, he's thorough, he doesn't make you feel like a dunce and he encourages you to ask questions. he doesn't think you're dumb and he'll shut down any potential negative self-talk. he's the main one you go to for help with scholastic matters bc every time you do, no matter what subject it covers, the assignments that had seungmin's influence receive notably high marks.

He’d probably figure it out rather quickly. The way they would meticulously jot down notes, the endless stream of ideas, and their thoughtful insights into various u̶n̶c̶o̶n̶v̶e̶n̶t̶i̶o̶n̶a̶l̶ topics. Or perhaps he had caught glimpses of their constantly ink-stained fingers. Either way, it became another entry in Kuras' catalogue of fascinating things about them. Undeniably intrigued, he couldn't help but wonder if their writing reflected their innermost thoughts and desires—if each word they wrote held a piece of their soul, waiting to be discovered by someone willing to delve into the depths of their imagination—or perhaps if it was simply a creative outlet for emotions they couldn't express otherwise.

Kuras found himself wanting to uncover the layers of complexity that made up the enigmatic individual behind the pages of their notebooks. And he was more than willing to take on that challenge.

Taking into consideration the fact that perhaps the MC wouldn't be able to afford fancy writing tools or notebooks, often writing down messy notes in napkins with worn-out pens and crayons left behind by patrons at the Wick, Kuras would gift them a brand new notebook and a set of pens, hoping that the small gesture would encourage the MC to continue expressing themselves through writing and perhaps even open up to him about the deeper secrets of themselves they had yet to reveal.

Artist

As a fellow artist himself, Vere knew to recognize talent when he saw it, no matter how subtle or unassuming it may appear at first glance. After all, true artistry is not just about skill but also passion and dedication. He didn't miss the way the MC's eyes lingered a moment longer on the brush strokes of a distant painting in a random Eridian shop with such reverence, as if trying to capture the essence of the art itself, before moving on, or the way their eyes focused on the lightning dancing across the sky and their fingers twitched with an unspoken desire to create. 

Vere could sense the raw artistry bubbling just beneath the surface; he saw in them the same hunger for self-expression and longing for freedom that had driven him to pursue his own artistic endeavours. 

So he carefully crafted a plan. He discreetly left behind pens and paper in the MC's vicinity. He didn't directly hand it to them, opting to let them stumble upon the supplies, hoping that the MC would take notice and feel compelled to pick up the tools on their own accord. Don't ask him why he did so; he doesn't know the answer himself. Perhaps because of an inexplicable curiosity and a desire to see if he could spark something within the MC, to see if he could ignite that same creative flame that burned within him. Or maybe it was simply a gut feeling. Regardless, he watched from a distance as the MC began to tentatively pick up the pens and paper, their eyes alight with newfound inspiration. It brought a g̶e̶n̶u̶i̶n̶e̶ satisfied smile to his face, his tail wagging back and forth in contentment.

Leander

Dance

Leander figured the MC used to be a dancer. It was obvious if one paid close attention; their perfect posture, precision, strength, and flexibility in their body were a dead giveaway. He'd notice the gracefulness in their movements, every step deliberate and full of confidence, and the fluid transitions between postures.

Leander found himself bewitched. He couldn't tear his eyes away from the MC as they'd effortlessly glided around the Wick, their feet barely making a sound against the hardwood floor. It was effortless, seamless, and utterly captivating. He will admit he couldn't help the small smile once he'd noticed the subtle way they would often tap their feet to the rhythm of a song roaring throughout the tavern.

It was a talent that couldn't be hidden, no matter how hard they tried.

His plan was simple: He needed some sort of opening, somewhere to insert himself into the situation without coming across as intrusive (o̶r̶ a̶g̶g̶r̶e̶s̶s̶i̶v̶e̶… o̶r̶ d̶e̶m̶a̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶… o̶r̶—). He would simply attempt to start a conversation with them and praise their dance skills, hoping to learn more about that talent of theirs—maybe even ask them for a dance later in the evening—while also finding a way to subtly steer the conversation towards more personal matters.

They noticed something was up because the MC. wouldn’t. stop. staring. at their face. The way their eyes lingered on Mhin's features made them feel self-conscious, as if every flaw and imperfection were being scrutinised under a microscope.

Mhin couldn't decipher the intent behind the intense gaze, but it left them feeling both uncomfortable and strangely flattered. They couldn't help but wonder what it was about their appearance that captivated the MC so intensely. It was as if they'd seen something in them that no one else did—something worth examining closely.

They tried to maintain a neutral expression but ended up shifting uncomfortably in their seat, trying to break the look that seemed to be piercing through their very soul. 

It wasn't until the MC finally spoke up, complimenting Mhin's bone structure and suggesting they would make a great model for a sculpting project, that Mhin made the connection.

The revelation made Mhin feel incredibly flattered and intrigued, as they had never considered themselves to be particularly striking or noteworthy. The idea of being immortalised in stone by someone talented was… intimidating. And somehow humbling.

Architecture

He is observant, and can easily notice a person who seems particularly interested in a specific thing. He observed them, their body language, facial expressions and the way they looked at things around them, their eyes tracing the fine details from afar—it was almost like they were analysing them.

What made his suspicions clear was...the Seaspring. F̶i̶n̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ t̶h̶e̶ d̶a̶m̶n̶ t̶h̶i̶n̶g̶ w̶a̶s̶ u̶s̶e̶f̶u̶l̶ a̶t̶ s̶o̶m̶e̶t̶h̶i̶n̶g̶ b̶e̶y̶o̶n̶d̶ b̶r̶i̶n̶g̶i̶n̶g̶ d̶e̶s̶p̶a̶i̶r̶

It was the way they looked at the building in particular; their eyes darted around, as if examining every inch, every line and curve of the temple. He’d smirk to himself, eyes following their every move, as if he could read their thoughts.

He’d bring them anything; from papers, inks and rulers to wood and other building materials. He’d let them demolish, remodel, completely renovate the fucking thing—he couldn’t care less, as long as he had somewhere to rest at night. Besides, their smile was worth more to him than any amount of power he could be offered.

We stand in solidarity with the transgender community and vehemently oppose any efforts to strip our trans friends and community members of their rights and ability to exist peacefully.

We do not endorse or condone the purchase or consumption of any HP merchandise that provides money to JKR to fund her hateful agenda. This includes but is not limited to: the Harry Potter books, merch, games, theme parks, studio tours, food, the CC stage play, the upcoming HBO show, etc.

Participation in fandom spaces is inherently free and we will continue to put in the work to keep this fandom event inclusive and free for all to participate in and enjoy. Re the maraudeurs ask: I think its funny overall that the Harry Potter fandom in general thinks they get to claim they don't support JKR and also pretend they are all pure and progressive now when they are just as racist as they have always been. And the race part is often glossed over in these conversations.

Drawing Hermione black doesn't make the fandom good when there are canonically black characters that are absent from the fandom conversations. people would give a whole ass personality to a non character that is Theodore Nott and write off Blaise Zabini. And I think this new series that is about to come out that claims that they are open to "inclusive casting" will try to pander to that progressive veneer of the fandom, because at the end of the day the fandom is the target audience.

I really don't subscribe to that idea that someone writing harry potter smut is not the person who puts the money in JKRs pocket. Maybe they are not directly putting it in her pocket but they are keeping the IP alive, harry potter name is profitable because it has such a big fandom. The Hogwarts Legacy game was and is profitable. JKR is screenshoting her royalties and putting them on twitter like a slap in the face to every trans person. And now even more so, JKR is not just a transphobe she's a white supremacist and a holocaust denier, but sure "Dobby wrote the books", "separate art from the artist" (never mind that the art is also deeply soaked in her vile beliefs).

I don't think we need to yell at people to stop writing harry potter fanfic but damn I'm am strongly side eyeing everyone who does so because ultimately they choose to look away and put their fictional escapism over the actual real lives of people who she harms.

Q: Are original works acceptable?

A: This is primarily a fanwork-focused event. If original work is the only WIP you have to work on, it's certainly fine to work on it during the time frame of the event. If it is posted publicly when finished, you may tag it for boosting.

Q: Are there any restrictions on topics?

A: No, so long as your event # post is properly & fully tagged for content (see rules about tagging above). "Dead Dove" topics are allowed. Some submissions will be 18+. For me, this is less about the content and more about finishing it. 

The usual restrictions based on laws and Community Guidelines of course apply, so you may need to tailor how you post to which event space your interacting with. Twitter, Tumblr, and Discord all have their own rules. There are also some topics that are in poor taste to make fanworks around. The event organizer and mods reserve the right to not boost your work if they decide it is rage-baiting or trolling. They are not responsible for negative reactions to your works. Please be respectful of those you share a digital space with. 

Keep in mind that when I link to your finished work during a Finished It Friday, it may reach a wider audience than you may be used to.

Q: Are there any restrictions on media that can be submitted?

A: Machine Generated or "AI" images and writing are not permitted. If you are found in violation of this rule, you will be removed from the event. All images, writing, or other works must be your own.

This is a positive, shared space. Do not belittle other creators' medium of choice. Please no fandom/character/ship/creator bashing, and don't berate artists or authors for not being done with something, even if they don't finish by the end of the event. Your cheeks flamed as Logan looked at you like you had 27 heads.  “And?” he asked.  

You shook your head and sighed—damn near tears at this point.  “There is no ‘And,’ Wolvie.  It's just that.”

He still looked befuddled, his forehead wrinkled in confusion and his eyes darting between yours as if one would tell him something your lips did not.  Shaking his head with almost a snap, he started to smirk.  “You think a little blood is going to scare me?”

“It squicks some guys,” you tried.    His smile widened into an out and out toothy grin.   “”First of all I’m not ‘some guys’,” he assured you.  “Secondly, what the fuck does ‘squick’ mean?”  His lack of pop culture knowledge always amused you and this was no different.  Now you tried to hide your smile behind your hand but your giggle was unmistakable.  “Oh and now you are laughing at me?!?” he joked before opening his arms to you.  “C’mere, bub,” he stated softly.  

You step into him and wrap your arms around his solid waist, pressing your giggles into his chest.  “You are adorable when you giggle,” he informed you, his rough chin brushing your neck as he hugged you closer.  

“You’re pretty adorable all the time,” you affirmed.    

“I don't know that I’ve ever been called adorable,” he admitted with an amused tone.  “Can I get back to fucking you now?” he asked in the next breath.  

Lifting your head, you found his heated stare moving from your eyes to where you were biting your bottom lip, suddenly wondering why you stopped kissing him in the first place.  Without another word your lips found him in a hard kiss, reigniting the flames that you had briefly tried to douse just a few short minutes ago as his hand slipped under the waistband of your panties.

Hello, there! You can call me Woods. This is a silly blog created with the intention of relearning how to write. I've been experiencing a lot of brain fog recently, so I wanted to try to clear my head by doing something I loved doing back when I first discovered fandoms; reading and writing fanfic.

I'm currently focused on Predator, but that's not to say that I won't add things from other fandoms that I'm in eventually.

The kind of writing I do can vary from long, detailed fics (rare), and short silly drabbles. Think of this blog as a scrapbook of sorts.

I won't write smut or gendered readers. I aim for inclusiveness in my writing because I know what it's like growing up as a trans kid in fandoms and having nothing for me. As for smut, I'm just not comfortable with it. If I decide to write anything suggestive, then it will be on my own terms.

I'm eighteen, I identify as aroace, I'm an INFP, I use they/them pronouns online, I identify as agender.

I enjoy metal and rock music, but I also listen to other genres. Some of my first examples are Deftones, Slipknot, Korn, Highly Suspect, Sleep Token, Skillet, She Wants Revenge, Nirvana, Falling In Reverse, Linkin Park, MSI, etc.

I have decided not to take requests anymore due to my sporadic motivation. I won't write long fics unless I want to, and I generally only feel like writing my own ideas.

Asking me to expand on your ideas/headcanons is completely fine! I actually enjoy writing things like that since I can get pretty detailed with it, and it's relatively easy to jump into. However, if I feel like the ask is too much like a request, I will end up not answering it.

Asks are always encouraged! I enjoy interacting with people who are interested in the things I like. Feel free to ask questions about my characters or clan lore or even ask me to expand on it.

If you ask me a question and I take a while to answer, just please be patient. I do have a life outside of Tumblr, and bills won't pay themselves, unfortunately.

Please don't request more parts/chapters on stories I've written! I love the enthusiasm, but I will just end up procrastinating if too many people make demands of me. I write for fun, the second it feels like work I won't want to do it.

Literally anyone! I don't mind so long as we're respectful and remember fandom etiquette. This is an LGBTQ+ safe space, obviously, and bigots will simply be ignored and blocked.

I don't care if minors interact with my posts, I generally try to keep things non sexual anyway, but do keep in mind that what you willingly choose to consume in media is not my responsibility. I am not responsible for your unrestricted Internet access. Just don't be weird, or you will get blocked.

I will place a warning on posts that I deem as suggestive or sexual, so proceed at your own risk after reading the warnings.

I do want to branch out and make new friends on Tumblr! However, if you do choose to interact with me with the intention of becoming my friend, I do ask that you're at least 17+. This is just a personal preference as I'd rather have online friends closer to my age or older.

Me: 👍👍👍 wow what a tidy way to dismiss and invalidate a legitimate reaction to homophobic story tropes! 👍👍👍

The "just leave then" response to people wanting more inclusivity from the stories they love is not just emotionally invalidating - it is also one of the things that keeps storytellers from feeling that they need to improve in the future by making fans feel stupid for demanding better representation in the first place.

This kind of response doesn't just make you sound like a conservative (since this is a VERY popular response that conservatives have when confronted with leftist media criticism), it also fundamentally ignores the fact that there may not BE an equivalent story with good rep to go to after leaving the queerbait-y one behind.

Delicious in Dungeon is special and unique; that's why I genuinely love it. It is that love that makes me want it to do better.

When I see that Shuro is allowed to openly express romantic love for Falin, but Marcille/Falin is relegated to mere implication, it makes me really sad. It may not be a romance manga, but there ARE straight couples, and hetero desire IS on display - which makes the lack of open queerness all the more noticeable.

So when people say "just go watch something else" in response to my genuine sadness and irritation that a beloved story is excluding people like me..... Are you telling me there's a nearly identical queer show - with a similarly active fandom - all about found family learning to cook beautiful foods in a dungeon? Is my favorite-guy-ever Senshi going to be there? Is there actually a place for me to go to??

OR is there only one Delicious in Dungeon, and that's what makes it great?

I think actually folks who respond this way just want me to leave, and they don't really care where I go, so long as their favorite thing doesn't have to stand up to criticism.

Because I don't want lesbian media elsewhere. I want it here, with my friend Marcille. Here, where the seeds of queer romance were purposely planted to hook my attention. What's so wrong with being disappointed if those seeds never grow to bear fruit??

We can like good art and still demand it does better. And we can validate people who are sad it isn't doing better without getting defensive. Critical analysis is healthy and important. It's how good and bad stories are fully understood, and it's how better stories get made.

And while I will try to enjoy the plentiful delicious crumbs I am being served (since it is more than most shows give me), just because I CAN squish a bunch of crumbs together into the approximate shape of a muffin, that doesn't mean I've been served a meal.

Helllo everyone! Welcome to DPxDC Family Week 2024. This year we are doing it a bit late.

This is a prompt event for writers and artists. A lot of DPxDC crossover works involve the idea of long-lost siblings and adoption, so we want to celebrate that with this week! The idea is to encourage people to make a bunch of fics or art around different family dynamics, whether it’s bio-family, found family, platonic fluff, angst... whatever you want! 

The prompts use the terms "family" and "relative," but it's important to keep in mind here that this is inclusive of found family and other kinds of family that are not blood-related. These terms are shorthand for a family-like relationship.
